    I love this list! Especially happy to see Rebecca on the list as I'm writing on it for my MA in English Literature as I read it for my undergrad. The only thing (just as it's a major point of the novel and the themes) is that the 'protagonist' of Rebecca isn't called Rebecca. Rebecca is the dead wife and the protagonist is never named which is vital as the book is about how her identity if affected by the remains of Rebecca's presence in the house. Hopefully, that makes sense - I just didn't want you to get confused when reading it but I hope you enjoy it so much, personally I love it :)

    • @AClockworkReader
      @AClockworkReader  7 років тому +1

      Thank you for clarifying that! I was actually kind of confused because the summary on the book makes it sound like her name is Rebecca lolll

    • @pokemonumbreon1
      @pokemonumbreon1 7 років тому +3

      Haha it's okay yeah a lot of summaries about Rebecca do that and it's a little disheartening when people don't like the book simply because summaries aren't clear about that so they get confused :')

    they both die at the end ruined me for like 3 days. i knew it was going to hurt going in but it was not the punch in the stomach i thought it was- it was like falling down a stone staircase and hitting every single step in a new part of your body. you think by two thirds of the way down there's no way it can hurt anymore, but there's a new pain each time and you can't stop the momentum and avoid the hurt. it's a great book :)

    You got the plot of Rebecca kind of wrong, as a warning for anyone planning on reading it (Rebecca is the name of the dead wife- it's a big point of the novel that the "main character" isn't given a name). It's still a really good book, as is My Cousin Rachel, also by Daphne du Maurier. The film's great too!

    I just happened by your channel one day and found out we have the exact same taste is books! I would LOVE to have a bookshelf as impressive as yours one day. My top three books to read in 2018 are: The Diviners by Libba Bray, The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee, and Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.

    I read a Tale of Two Cities twice last year. It's so deep but quite slow. I read it because of the Infernal Devices, and the parallels are AMAZING.
    I fell deeper in love with Will, which seemed impossible, but Dickens & Clare are just beautiful together. Two Cities is 3 books in 1, the first book is really, really slow & doesn't make that much sense. But the story starts tying together in the 2nd book and comes to a heartbreaking conclusion in the 3rd book.
    I think the hardest part of Dicken's book is that it's plot driven, but has a lot of heavy character sketches. Tedious reading, but gorgeous characters.
    And Victoria is such a great show! I'm so excited for Season 2!!!

    Tales from Shadowhunters Academy is soooooo good bc it covers stories from mortal instruments but also post-infernal dervices while having its own plot

    I love Jane the virgin! I cried about Michael! I never knew her book actually existed till one day I searched the name of the book just to see and there it was. I didn't believe it was real till you just showed it here. Amazing.

    I've had 'The Bear and the Nightingale' gathering dust on my shelf for the past couple of months, definitely gonna get around to it soon :D
    (Also, 'Rebecca' is fantastic, one of Du Maurier's best!)

    I'm definitely going to check out that Victorian book, especially since I'm such a huge fan of the children's series, Hetty Feather, which is about a foundling girl during that time.

    I've never watched Jane the Virgin, but the concept of Snow Falling is so great, i love that they published it. I also want to read They Both Die at the End in 2018; I have yet to read any Adam Silvera and I really feel like I'm missing out

    Just read Persepolis for English class, it's a quick read but it was so good I'm going to go get the second book she wrote to read in my own time.
