Hello! Congratulations on five years! I have only been reading for a year now and was so surprised how many 5 star books I had. I have not yet read a series, perhaps this coming year. My favorite read was The Frozen River. It was absolutely a unique time period to read about. Thank you for sharing your favorites.
I haven’t read any of the books you read here, but I’ll check them all out. My absolute favorite discovery this year was author Benedict Jacka. I read all 12 books his Alex Verus series, and the two books of his newest series. I LOVED reading all his books! LOVED them!!! Also read the 2 newest books by Tricia Levenseller, who was my favorite new author that I discovered last year. She has several short series (2 or 3 books each, and one stand alone book). I highly recommend her books. Other books I highly recommend are Project Hail Mary, and The Martian, both by Andy Weir.
I have read a few of your top ten but I don't think any of the same will land in my top ten, except maybe The Collected Regrets of Clover. Some of my tops were The Ten Thousand Doors of January, The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult, Tress of the Emerald Sea, The Silent Patient, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, Educated, Demon Copperhead.......I could go on and on!!! I had a really good reading year as well. Happy new year, Angie!
@@bookmama26 Demon Copperhead was so sad and depressing, felt pretty hopeless overall, but something about it just grabbed me completely. I love it when that happens with a book, even when it's not a happy story.
I loved The Frozen River too. The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be up there for my top reads of the year. I also read Station Eleven by Emily St.John Mandel which had the pandemic vibes but character driven. Maybe you would enjoy if you haven’t read it yet. 🥂
New to your channel, this is the first video I’ve seen. Loved seeing some of your tops reads for the year. I am really looking forward to The Frozen River as it’s our Jan book for the bookclub I’m in. The clover book I’ve already added to my TBR on goodreads for very personal reasons, I just found out abojt death doulas and have been interested in that field. I feel like that’s the reason I was brought to your channel. Happy New Year!
🥂🎉 Thank you Angie ! So fun to see your favorites. I just started Frozen River. Surprised but not that you chose The Passage, as my son just loved it. I may have to pick it up. Happy New Year!
I read If We Were Villains a couple of years ago and also loved it. My number one book for 2024 is The Bodyguard by Katherine Center. I am not normally a sci-fi reader either but just read Illuminae and thought it was great. I don't know how I will keep my list of favorites down to 10 - I may have to go to 15!
Hello! New subscriber here. My two faves of the year was None of this is True by Lisa Jewell, which I highly recommend if you haven't read it, and The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams.
Have have been wanting to read Frozen River and hope to get to it in January. If you like The Women (which I also loved) I would recommend Eleanore of Avignon (set during the plague and follows a midwife who can do so much more medically but limited by being a woman in that time) also The Lost Apothecary and The Nightingale also by Kristin Hannah and it might be my all time favorite book
Some of my favorites from this year were: -The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley -Hail Mary by Andy Weir -Perelandra by C.S. Lewis -James by Percival Everett -How to Stay Married: The Most Insane Love Story Ever Told by Harrison Scott Key -Mansfield Park (but the enjoyment of this one was definitely increased because I read it with a very intimate book club) I have Frozen River and The Women on my 2025 TBR but I'm mostly excited to continue on with Robin Hobb's series!
I just got The Passage at a used book store last week, I think it’ll be my next read! My top 5 books of the year were: -The Martian -The Grapes of Wrath -My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry -Kindred -Recursion
I have “Murder on the Orient Express” as a graphic novel. I read this a LONG time ago, so I thought that getting a copy of it as a graphic novel would be a great way to revisit it.
The year isn’t done, but I think my top five were: - The Light Pirate - The Cherry Robbers - What the Wind Knows - Butts: A Backstory - Last Summer on State Street I plan to read Frozen River in January and I’ve put most of your other favorites on my TBR as well.
I enjoyed If We Were Villians. And I loved The Women and The Frozen River. The Passage is in my top 5 for this year. Agree The Twelve was good but not quite as good. I enjoyed The City of Mirrors the second best. Fitting ending! I actually miss those characters. Someone commented about Project Hail Mary. That was my fav read of 2022. You should give it a go!
I got some good recs from you, so thank you! I also loved the Frozen River. It was a tough one on content, but I felt so valuable in how much it made me consider the history. I was not a fan of the second half of the Women and the amount of self-sabotage Frankie does. I feel like Kristen Hannah likes to see how much destruction she can put her characters through😕
I am a big science nerd (particularly physics) & now I'm very interested in that plague book. Any other recommendations in that genre I'd be interested in hearing. Frozen River is on my TBR for 2025 because of your recommendation. I worked as a doula for a very short time so that also made me interested in that book. Some of my favorites of 2024 that I can think of just off hand are: "The Book Thief," "The Women," "A Gentleman in Moscow," "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society," "Trinity: A Graphic History of the First Atomic Bomb," "Anne of Green Gables," "Project Hail Mary," "84, Charing Cross Road," "The Irish Boardinghouse" duology, "The Diamond Eye," "The Murderbot Diaries" series, "Anxious People," "Ghosted: An American Story," "The Things We Cannot Say," "The Thursday Murder Club" series, & "The Marlow Murder Club" series. (I need to make a favorites video as well.

Haha, we do have different tastes in books! But I am excited for Ten Thousand Doors and I'm thinking of putting Demon Copperhead on my 2025 TBR!
@@bookmama26 Demon Copperhead was so sad and depressing, felt pretty hopeless overall, but something about it just grabbed me completely. I love it when that happens with a book, even when it's not a happy story.
My top 3 were The Women, The Frozen River, Legends and Lattes!!
Love it!!

Agreed, you have to be prepared when you read Kristin Hannah!
