    Fun fact, I can switch between these two styles even midround and I'm just as effective at not making anything.

      Absolutely! One could even find themself switching between styles on the same hole! Like if a missed putt presents a comebacker that calls for it due to obstacles and/or elevation..

      I feel so attacked right now. 😆 the best is when you line up and pre-game a push putt and it comes out with a ton of spin and misses 20ft to the right lol

    Key for my push putt was identifying which mental que's gave me the most consistent movement. Focusing on lifting and popping my elbow straight up just like in a dart toss was huge for me.

    Hyzer with a staggered stance is most comfortable for me. I try to avoid throwing laser putts because if I air ball, I’m faced with a long comeback putt.

    More similarities than difference between Chandler & Missy - grip is the same with index finger under the rim to first knuckle (even though Chandler says its on the rim its under when you watch the putt in slow motion (8:41 hit spacebar to pause, then > key to move fwd and < key to rev frame by frame); backswing is very similar with Missy going even lower with her arm indicative of a push putter, both get their upper torso leaning way forward and both get the wrist cocked back before starting forward motion, The difference comes when they start the forward motion with Missy raising the disc by bending more at the elbow and finishing in a spin putt motion, while Chandler raises his arm with only a slight elbow bend and then pops his wrist more at the end as he said. Another note, Chandler actually releases with palm completely facing up as push putters do and only rotates his thumb up after the disc is gone.

    I get what Missy was saying about the anyhzer putting. Back before I figured out the spring loading with your legs I would have to do an anhyzer putt if I was outside of circle one just for the distance.

    Started off with a pure push putt, now after much practice putting due to snowy weather I’ve started experimenting with spin putting. Ended up putting much more of a hyzer angle on the disc, especially on longer putts. Very interesting to see Missy’s hyzer releases. I intend to develop the spin putt technique, but on certain putts a simple down-to-up motion makes more sense. Thanks for an enlightening presentation!

    Funny thing is that you highlighted Chandler as the push putter and then at the end of his whole bit He literally explains how he puts spin on the disc lol and then you both agree that he is a “spush” putter . Great video just definitely wondering how the evolution of the game has not created us to realize that push putt is not a real term and not good to teach. You always have to apply spin on the disc…Whether or not you want to include the elbow and possibly the shoulder as part of the pivot point then that will determine if you are pushing or spinning but at the end of every single throw, there is spin applied with the wrist and hand pressure into the fingertips

    As long as I have space around my putt, I actually prefer to sidearm my putts. I feel like I have more control and it’s easier for me to shape if need be. Maybe that’s because I’m just an intermediate player? 🤷‍♂️ I can push if there are lots of trees and need to be tighter on my movement. It just feels more natural throwing forehand for me in general.

    Team Discraft? When it’s Everyone Vs. Everyone how is that a team sport? Does your overall score at the end of each round effect the other players overall rating on the same team? Just wondering how it’s a Team sport if Discraft is just a sponsor, and likewise with other sponsorships that call themselves a Team? This came to me because of all the hype around people leaving their sponsors Team for other sponsors Teams. It’s like who really cares, if Disc Golf isn’t a Team sport.

    • @jonsidell3338
      @jonsidell3338 Рік тому +4

      Using team as a verb one could argue that they all team together to support Discraft. As a noun they are two or more people working together as a team to spread the brand of Discraft. Nobody said it was a team sport.

    • @DiscraftJunkies

      @@jonsidell3338 I throw nothing but discraft, so does that mean I’m team discraft? Or does only a Discraft sponsorship make you apart of the team?

    • @fullyawakened
      @fullyawakened Рік тому +2

      It's simpler. If you are sponsored by Discraft then you are part of "Team Discraft". If you aren't then you're not. Sometimes, actually often, sponsored players do team up against other sponsored players for double or team games, but that is not what he is referring to.

    • @jonsidell3338
      @jonsidell3338 Рік тому +2

      @@DiscraftJunkies I believe you are over thinking this. You are a loyal supporter of Discraft, but not a team member. Discraft team members are sponsored (compensated) thus required to throw Discraft. You can shop at Lowe’s, but you aren’t a Lowe’s team member until you accept the job. Same idea.

    • @DiscraftJunkies
      @DiscraftJunkies Рік тому +1

      @@jonsidell3338 I’m still not understanding the concept of the use of the Word Team, if it’s not an actual Team working towards the same goals of winning. There’s no award for the Team with the most wins, losses, missed points. People Should just say I play for Discraft.

  • @clintsawyer7702
    @clintsawyer7702 Рік тому

    I am still testing an experimenting, got fairly consistent with a spin heavy spush putt, but it never felt all that natural, it always felt forced. Then ran across an old discraft video on step putting and jump putting featuring little baby Uli, from his first year on the team, and he was a hardcore jump putter. But the thing that stuck with me was one of the old veterans who am I don't even know the name, but unlike most people who face squared off with the basket and extend their arm forwards, he stood perpendicular to the basket extending his arm sideways, and said that's just what felt natural to him so that's what he did and it gave him a consistent release. And then watching a Scott Stokley video on putting, where he similar to this video discusses the pros and cons of different styles, and he illustrates how the important thing is a motion that you can do consistently every time with a clean release. So I thought, what feels natural to me that I can do exactly the same? A hockey wrist shot. I grew up playing hockey. That was my life, that's all I did, that's all I wanted to do. I lived, breathed, ate, slept hockey. Pretty sure I skate better than I walk. So I tried thinking how can I turn that into a putt? I started in my basic hockey stance which is basically a stagger stance except my feet are probably at a 45° angle to the basket. Nearly all my weight is on the back foot, My arm is still doing the basic spin spush, somewhat similar to what Missy is doing coming down and in, up and out, but my arm is used primarily for generating spin and aim, and the majority of power is from the back leg, so it's pretty easy to add a bit more power for a longer putt. It's all still new, and right now I have decent accuracy, not quite as accurate as I had developed the other style but I've only been working with it for a couple weeks now, the main thing is it feels so much more natural and I don't have to think about it, it just happens So I'm pretty confident that it will develop into my permanent style.

    I don't think Missy changes her wrist position that much, I just think she leans forward on the release, which puts the disc on the right plane to the basket.
