I believe it’s also the most expensive, and obviously has built on the successful features of the ones that came before. Every few years there’s likely to be better ones as faster chips and more development comes along. So it really comes down to how much you can spend and when you need to buy.
It’s both odd & brilliant that Fender would go this route. The brand isn’t exactly a beacon of digital technology but, to survive, I suppose they would have to keep up…. So, yeah.
So many "Coming soon" items... shouldn't release a product if it's not ready, FENDER. Especially if you're sending it out to influencers for thousands to see. Just let your software devs work in peace for another week. 😂 Anyway, great tones, Ola.
Too bad Neural DSP started this trend with the promise of plugins and other features as a selling point. It’s a great unit but if we’re not careful, we’ll start getting into what the gaming industry is suffering from right now with releases being glorified beta tests.
The initial Mustang GT was horrible, and a downgrade from the Mustang v2. The GTX was much better, but no one gave it a chance. It didn't help that Katana was wiping up the market at a better price point by the time the GTX came out...
Looks really cool but I'm really happy with my kemper and dont see myself switching to QC or fender anytime soon. If it aint broke dont fix it! But this is amazing for peole wanting to get into modelers!
Wow this looks pretty impressive! What I would love to see would be a comparison between this thing through the FRFR cab compard to an EVH head through a real cabinet and what your thoughts on that are. For me the appeal of this product is as a potential live gigging solution that's lighter weight easy to transport but still give the tone and feel of playing through a real amp and cab on stage.
$1700 is steep for Fender to step into this space of leading competitors. Especially with grid point IR, no ex pedal, and all the ‘coming soon’ gambles we’ve seen in the video. Sharp looking, durable unit with good possibilities. The FRFR speaker is reasonably priced and looks great.
I own a helix so no dog in the fight but no way will fender skimp on the updates...at least not on the beginning so all those coming soon features will likely come.
I'm a Quad Cortex owner and I love it, but Fender has really taken the design and UI to the next level. This looks slick AF, I really love the graphical elements. I wonder if the grid as as much routing flexibility as the QC, but I'm really impressed with this. Nice job, Fender.
I member when I got my first amp. It was a Peavey Special 130 , and it was pretty cool for 1985 . Then I bought a distortion pedal , flanger , chorus over the next yr and I thought I was THE MAN ....LOL . I bought my first modeling board ( line 6 pro xt live ) when they came out and I thought it was genius. Now , with all the new apps / tech / learning tools I am kinda resentful that kids can get such a pro sound with no real experience with tinkering with actual components . And don't get me started on learning / lessons from back when I only had cassettes or vinyl .....
Seems like Fender didn't rush things and took the time to deliver a really GOOD, well thought out product. It won't replace my Fractal or my collection of real amps, but I think it'll do well. Good job, Fender!
*waited and took what they liked from different innovators. Theres nothing really new here, it just appears to be done really well, which is where many others fall short.
Great demo! Seems like a great piece of kit here. Solid construction, great I/O options, quality sound processing, Solid UI design. I would have liked to hear some demos of the different modulation and delay and reverb FX though.
Digital modeling has come a long way since line 6 introduced the first one. Watching on my monitor with a 7.1 surround is incredible. The tones are to die for. For some reason it never sounds quite as good as that at home. Like you said the workflow is key. Really liking this, wondering if you can plug into a regular amplifier in the effects loop or something? Wow I wonder where we'll be in 5 or 10 years? 🤘
@@ruffestneckaroundyeah I know I was just commenting I'm just wondering how it would sound if it would sound as good as the rig I'm listening to through 7.1 surround or if it would be a little less. These things always sound not quite as good at home! Obviously I would try it 4 cable method or front of amp or a efx loop. I just know it won't sound like it does when I hear it on UA-cam even with the same settings?
Every now and then Fender will pop up with some very good peripherals. Even their pedal PSU is great. They’ve definitely been developing their DSP as well.
Omg. Beautiful man. Beautiful Gear. I only used a fender gtx100 with its footswitch for gigs. People can’t believe how stupid modern and simple the fender tone app is. I adjusts my sounds using the ipad during practice and people can’t believe i’m not spending a single penny for other pedals or amps… Fender wins…
This will have zero impact on the modeler market. It doesn't sound all that good but it's priced like an FM9???? Fender going crazy with the prices once again
The images of the Efx's and cabs and amps on the screen arre AMAZING. I don't know why they don't put this on pedals. Fractal can be amazing, BUT aren't cool to use. you are controlling jus knobs and... mehhhh. I have an Nux MG-30 and they emulate images of pedals and things, are so much easier to control, PLEASE, we want to EMULATE EVERYTHING. Sounds AND images
Just saw the andertons vid while watching this too. Don’t ask😂. But man this has 8 cores, so I think fender will be going hard on this. It will be cool to see the firmware updates and how much better it sounds later. It still sounds amazing, and I, kinda excited, it will be expensive I’m sure. But kinda see why, I don’t think it’s 600-800 I’m thinking 2000. As long they keep up and update it’s cheaper than buying amps and more amps.. lol. This is cool in my opinion.
The pedalboard is expensive at $1700, but that 1000w 12" monitor is not bad at $550. Seems like a good portable setup for when you don't want to lug around a 4x12 and tubehead. I could see myself using that monitor for sure.
Sounds great! I have learned from experience that if I bought one of these, no one would see me for two years while I sit and spin knobs and swim through endless menus! …LOL… ❤ from 🇨🇦 eh! :)
Fuck a touch screen. Updates, regular refinements of existing models and features, and the amp modeling itself… that is what I care about. I’m tired of all this charade about touch screens overshadowing what the actual priority is here.
I agree and exactly why I sold my Fractal FM9. Amazing tones but horrendous UI. The editor on the PC is good but for nearly $2k I need a good on unit UI.
Nice box But the price is too high for it $1700 is too much What do we get for that price? Only a few amp sims? Naaaah... Quad Cortex or Fractal FM9 will be a lot better. So not today, Fender
Would love to hear this A/B against the Headrush and Quad Cortex modelers with that same riff from 6:13. That sure looked like a ton of pedals, would be worth mentioning how many are included vs those other modelers as well. Standing by for that impulse response/app business.
This. They have Line6’s vast FX game to compete with, and I’m really curious how much DSP this has packed in. That was a lot of varied signal chaining. I wanna see what it can handle.
They did more than a decade ago. It was called the Mustang Floor. It was shit horrible and relied on the use of a DAW to make full use of it. It's a problem that's plagued all of Fender's digital amplification products, including their line of Mustang amps. I don't expect this new effects processor to be any different.
In other news quad cortex just reduced their price to I think the same price as this. Nothing to do with this though, COVID supply chain problems are solved supposedly... 😂
I counted only 28 amp models on Tonemaster Pro. Some amp models are just different channels or versions of the same amp. So right now, incomparable with Fractal.
The Hole Master Pro preset you made should be put in to a pack called the "plug" set :) With various orifices being cited on each one. It would sell like ball cakes!
Ola's awesome. I love it when he does something(hears something) that he likes. His eyes get BIG and has that lil "devilish" smile. He makes me laugh in e'ry Vid, guaranteed, regardless of my mood. :)
Nice! I'm actually considering this as a future option (money permitting, of course). Now all that remains to be seen is, if it's gonna be competitively priced...
The hilarious thing: neural DSP is clearly threatened by this. As I started watching this video, neural DSP sent an email out stating they’re lowering their prices on the quad cortex back to $1699.
I don't hear anything, tone quality wise, that sets this apart from any other modeler. If anything it sounds cheap compared to the other ones in its price range.
$1700 retail. From what I can tell from Ola and Taylor Danley's first impressions, this is a remarkable unit. I owned a Fender Mustang 15W practice amp back in 2012 and it had killer tone even without a mid scoop. Knowing Fender, they'll probably release a cheaper unit with the same features, just less of them, but the sound quality is what we really care about.
Actualy it costs 200 euros more than the quad cortex (1899€ at Thomann). Thats a litte bit tough imo. Especially when you get in the direct competetion.
I think this is the only channel that has made the higher gain sounds sound amazing. I was beginning to think this product was very good at fender amp modelling and nothing else!
@@harshgarrett I don't think that was the point. The Tone Master Pro videos around have mostly not really dialed in a metal tone. Since you can go in and throw a Boss DS-1 or ProCo Rat in front of a Dual Rectifier or JCM800 you can achieve a huge metal tone with this using the right settings but a lot of videos have not done that.
Wow. Was not expecting this from fender. This modeler is genius, the footswitches used as knobs? That's so cool. The modeler looks so clean and not full of buttons. I still love my headrush though. Gotta have an expression pedal built in.

I have been surprised how underrated the Fender Mustang GTX 100 has been. This looks like a logical step up.
Just bought Fm3 Turbo month ago
No any multi effects pedal can replace it 😂😂😎😎
I want to try Amperium from a Ukrainian manufacturer. maybe he can displace my fm3 due to the difference in size and weight
Ola is the real Tone Master
expensive toy, i've seen $1800 to $2600 usd... helix and prime separate sound awesome, together... 😍
Exactly. If you’re spending that kinda money on a modeler, it’s not gonna be on this…
Did not expect sick metal tones coming from Fender. Looking forward to testing your own impulse responses
They own EVH.
Remember the Machete amp? Probably the best metal combo amp Fender/anyone has even put out
Fender twin is killer
@@darthmal1 I'd give that label to the Peavey XXX
the mustang gtx50 and gtx100 have one of the cleanest metal tones I’ve heard coming from a combo, it’s all about dialing it in lol
You can’t ship it back now, you took all the plastic off 😂
$1700 is steep for Fender to step into this space of leading competitors.
Recent FW update provides mixer
I don't know... Fender hasn't updated Mustang GTX in almost 2 years!
This must be the reason Neural have dropped the price of the Quad Cortex
Amazing sound, form factor and utility. This is the first modeler that actually excites me!
Yes me too. I might have to sell one of my tube amps and purchase this thing I do have a few and I’m sure I won’t miss one lol.
@@chrisorrell3066 same!
15:48 A classic Ola mistake... "Overdrive zero..." while in reality he set it to 12!
I'm a Quad Cortex owner and I love it, but Fender has really taken the design and UI to the next level. This looks slick AF, I really love the graphical elements. I wonder if the grid as as much routing flexibility as the QC, but I'm really impressed with this. Nice job, Fender.
Is quadcortex still better?
@@aedqodrie probably cortex is better for now, Reason being as a bass player, there's no Cab ir's or any heads for us yet :(
I member when I got my first amp.
Golden Child is a great movie!
It costs almost €2000 here in Germany, which is quite a lot in my opinion
Where did you find it? In the morning I looked at the thoman, at that moment there was no
@@angrybalkon1471 thomann
👍🏻😎Compared to what I started with 35 years ago this new technology is unreal.
When will modelers become universal? I want all pre amp and IR setups to be exportable and transferable across all modelers.
That monitor alone is kind of sick. Props to Fender for stepping up their game and, yet again, making Gibson look old fashioned.
@@MiikeyLawless The Apple approach
Great demo! Seems like a great piece of kit here. Solid construction, great I/O options, quality sound processing, Solid UI design. I would have liked to hear some demos of the different modulation and delay and reverb FX though.
At the very least, Fender has the capital to actually release new updates & features unlike others in the market.
You can run straight into an amp or run 4CM
@@ruffestneckaroundyeah I know I was just commenting I'm just wondering how it would sound if it would sound as good as the rig I'm listening to through 7.1 surround or if it would be a little less. These things always sound not quite as good at home! Obviously I would try it 4 cable method or front of amp or a efx loop. I just know it won't sound like it does when I hear it on UA-cam even with the same settings?
"I did not expect this, WHAT"!!! no expression pedal? haha
Sounds absolutely killer! Oh, and the knife quote is from "The Golden Child" 🤔
Call me old school but a marshall, overdrive pedal and a delay pedal is all you need.
I adjusts my sounds using the ipad during practice and people can’t believe i’m not spending a single penny for other pedals or amps…
Fender wins…
This will have zero impact on the modeler market. It doesn't sound all that good but it's priced like an FM9???? Fender going crazy with the prices once again
The images of the Efx's and cabs and amps on the screen arre AMAZING. I don't know why they don't put this on pedals. Fractal can be amazing, BUT aren't cool to use. you are controlling jus knobs and... mehhhh.
I have an Nux MG-30 and they emulate images of pedals and things, are so much easier to control, PLEASE, we want to EMULATE EVERYTHING. Sounds AND images
I'm more impressed with this than with the Quad Cortex, both sound and look.
$1700 at zZounds. And I don't believe that includes the reference monitor. I thought I saw $500 for the "combo amp."
The pedalboard is expensive at $1700, but that 1000w 12" monitor is not bad at $550. Seems like a good portable setup for when you don't want to lug around a 4x12 and tubehead. I could see myself using that monitor for sure.
2300$ new in Sweden. Wow... That's daring.
Excellent!! Ola making Golden Child references!! All my worlds coming together.
Sounds great! I have learned from experience that if I bought one of these, no one would see me for two years while I sit and spin knobs and swim through endless menus! …LOL…
❤ from 🇨🇦 eh! :)
Wow. I won't lie. This is pretty cool. I'm a devout modeler/plugin boy. But I also like the esthetic of an amp. Fender has entered the chat!
Fuck a touch screen. Updates, regular refinements of existing models and features, and the amp modeling itself… that is what I care about. I’m tired of all this charade about touch screens overshadowing what the actual priority is here.
GUI design is everything in these products, this looks pretty good.
I agree and exactly why I sold my Fractal FM9. Amazing tones but horrendous UI. The editor on the PC is good but for nearly $2k I need a good on unit UI.
Nice box
But the price is too high for it
$1700 is too much
What do we get for that price?
Only a few amp sims?
Naaaah...
Quad Cortex or Fractal FM9 will be a lot better.
So not today, Fender
Would love to hear this A/B against the Headrush and Quad Cortex modelers with that same riff from 6:13.
That sure looked like a ton of pedals, would be worth mentioning how many are included vs those other modelers as well. Standing by for that impulse response/app business.
This. They have Line6’s vast FX game to compete with, and I’m really curious how much DSP this has packed in. That was a lot of varied signal chaining. I wanna see what it can handle.
lol Ola when The Golden Child came out you were like 6 years old.
I hope Fender releases a cheaper, smaller Multi-FX unit like a Pod Go. I don't need so many switches or I/O.
They did more than a decade ago. It was called the Mustang Floor.
It was shit horrible and relied on the use of a DAW to make full use of it. It's a problem that's plagued all of Fender's digital amplification products, including their line of Mustang amps. I don't expect this new effects processor to be any different.
I recommend you to watch Amperium live from St.Rock
In other news quad cortex just reduced their price to I think the same price as this. Nothing to do with this though, COVID supply chain problems are solved supposedly... 😂
It's only a matter of time before real amps take a back seat to modellers. Fender gets it with this amazing first step into their future.
Nah. They are two different things. Both have their place.
Sounds like amps. Then again so does the Helix, Kemper, Mooer, pretty much anything that comes out today. No better no worse than everything else
Nice! having all the extra loops is a big deal for me. Thanks for the demo Ola!
Cool, but i don't think anyone is going to dethrone Fractal as amp modeling king just yet, though
I believe I know what you mean, and I think Marshall has done that sort of thing Ola and a bunch of others on their modular amps.
Ola's awesome. I love it when he does something(hears something) that he likes. His eyes get BIG and has that lil "devilish" smile. He makes me laugh in e'ry Vid, guaranteed, regardless of my mood. :)
The best gear videos are right here! Loved this
I will have to wait for the Squire version.
Nice! I'm actually considering this as a future option (money permitting, of course). Now all that remains to be seen is, if it's gonna be competitively priced...
It’s $100 more than a helix floor retail, and the same price as a Quad Cortex at sweetwater right now
I don't know why I was expecting a lower price...
If you have $2100 burning a hole in your pocket, including the powered cab, this thing sounds great.
Sounds better than other demos of it but still the price is absolutely insane for 1800.
As expected, only for the lucky few 😔
Have you tried the "Helix" and there IR Cab??? I'm out looking for the best of the best!!!
This actually sounds real good out of the box!
The next generation has arrived. The future is now. Who knew it would be delivered by Fender?
The hilarious thing: neural DSP is clearly threatened by this. As I started watching this video, neural DSP sent an email out stating they’re lowering their prices on the quad cortex back to $1699.
Same exact thing happened to me 😂
Seems like the Fender Dealers are pretty threatened by themselves. Just got an offer on reverb for $1410...🥶
@@trevor4533 guitar center is offering 10% off the tone master pro for cardholders already.
I don't hear anything, tone quality wise, that sets this apart from any other modeler. If anything it sounds cheap compared to the other ones in its price range.
They used the Bias FX interface and the added the QC tech 😅, it sounds great!
8 Core processor in this
These modelers are cool but will they be obsolete in 30 years? Probably! A Marshall amp is timeless and will always be desirable.
Fender manufactures evh amps
@@harshgarrett I don't think that was the point. The Tone Master Pro videos around have mostly not really dialed in a metal tone. Since you can go in and throw a Boss DS-1 or ProCo Rat in front of a Dual Rectifier or JCM800 you can achieve a huge metal tone with this using the right settings but a lot of videos have not done that.
@@cmdrdreddand a jcm800 is over 3 grand new, and only does 1 thing
what exactly is your point here
Wow. Was not expecting this from fender. This modeler is genius, the footswitches used as knobs? That's so cool. The modeler looks so clean and not full of buttons. I still love my headrush though. Gotta have an expression pedal built in.
