Heads up. When setting the stand don't tighten the bottom until after you set the stand. You want to tighten the top strap, shove the stand down (or toe hook method) then tighten the bottom strap. This helps the top bracket bite into the tree and prevents the i-beam from possibility bending
Stand toe hooks very well, even with the quick connect bracket.
Was just about to comment and tell him not to cam lock the stand with the bottom strap tight
Also something to try that I think makes them easier to hang lock on stands is to just take the strap and set how long you need at the base of the tree by wrapping it around it so the loops are almost touching. This keeps you from pulling out all the slack out of the straps and is less movement. You can always adjust the length if the tree gets smaller in diameter as you go up. But this helps me anyhow.
I love mine. I bought it all before the combo came out I have muddy backpack straps and the single steps not doubles. All packs up the same way. I've been able to get myself into some crazy wierd trees too
Thanks you helped me out with the belt and shoulder straps
Perfect video! Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
Absolutely! If you decide to get some xop gear don’t forget that discount code it’ll save you some $$
Most guys just use the top strap and no bottom, however if you want to use the bottom, set it with a lot of slack on the bottom, and then tighter after you’ve cam locked with the top strap. It’s actually safer using the top strap alone the correct way vs both straps incorrectly. Stay safe man!
I’ve been a ground blind/shooting house hunter my whole life and now I’m thinking about getting into using stands instead. Your channel has been incredibly helpful in making my decision. I think I’m gonna go with a climber of some sort. Right now I’m thinking about getting the Summit Viper Steel. I really like the lone wolf but that’s way out of my budget. Thanks for putting out so much content on the matter, I know I’m not the only one who appreciates it.
Man thank you!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors you’re very welcome! It’s a wonder your channel isn’t bigger than what it is right now. You’re making really detailed reviews based on experience instead of shilling for sponsors like the big shots do. Keep up the good work!
The seat cushion folds over the bottom of the seat when you fold it up to stand. Gives extra cushion when leaning hip against it.
Hey man, did you have any issues with noise when you nested the sticks side-by-side? My sticks are really loud out of the box when nesting side-by-side . When you stack them on top of each other , no noise but the j hooks don’t seem to work when you do it like that.
All mine fits very tight. I’d say adjust and try a different connection point
Great, informative video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Do u climb with the stand on your back while going up and I get the j hooks r for packing up but how do u get the sticks on the tree with 1 hand with holding the others with the other hand?
You need a good safety harness system with a lineman's rope on while you setup everything. The sticks first and then the stand. Have 2 ropes long enough to get as high up you want to go . Clip them on your belt loops one on the stand and other on the bow . Pull up the stand hook it up get it tight and get on it make sure you have your harness system hooked to the tree then pull your bow up .have a good 👍 hunt and be safe . You can also make a strap with a hook on it to hold your stand up in place while you put the strap into it and tighten it up.
Quick tip to make the straps easier. Don’t start with buckle side on first. Start with strap side on first and you can press button and slide bucket so you don’t have to worry about strap being too loose and stand falling all over. Keeps everything tight.
I’ll give that a try! I’ve always hung the buckle side… but again I’m a climber guy 😂🤣 thanks!
That's what i do so the buckle isn't on the other side of the tree and i can use that weight to help get it around bigger trees
I'm likely going to be buying the stand this year. I can buy 2 xop & a Burger for the cost of 1 cold world stand. You can keep all those climbing sticks though. My walking stick for Hunting is a nice 4'--12' extension pole, plus my height & reach with with my light weight heavy slide on duty hook on the tip, caps my branch hooking reach at about 20 feet, saddle with a rope man 1, light weight t post for my feet D clipped to a second rope man 1, & you're lighter weight, quieter up into any tree with decent branches within 20 feet faster and lighter than anything on the market today. plus for any of you who has ever gone over your muck boots in November a nice walking stick is a tool for many tasks, I can put my branch saw on mine, my slide hook for ascending, I like to use this rig with a tree stand, but saddle Hunters, running gun, If you don't know what a safe Branch is, It's like sky diving, if at first you don't succeed this probably isn't for you.
oh im gonna get one
Where can I buy this combo at
XOP was just selling this whole set up for around $300 a few weeks back. XOP is good for the average guy. I’m not trying to pay $500-600 for just the hang on or $100 a stick. Others have already mentioned it but cam lock the stand with the first strap before you put the second one on.
Completely agree… and yes they were selling it a bit cheaper a few weeks back the demand drove the price up a bit but still super reasonable.
Thanks
You need to get you a buzzard roost saddle.
Finally you post it... lol good video man
Hahaha sorry bud!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors by the way man don’t worry about what others say... that’s why I don’t comment on their videos they ain’t real hunters with real jobs.
Absolutely! It’s basically two full time jobs and three when it gets to hunting season😂🤣
Cool review as always !
@@craigfugate6147 thank you!
Does this kit come with the harness
Yes there was a harness in the box
How much is this pkg
Does it come with the J hooks?
It does. The package comes with everything seen in the video
How did you get your seat to stay like a shelf like that?
There new models have a bolt that locks it in however on this Model when I j hook my sticks onto the platform I do so in a way that the bottom of the sticks secure the seat to make it a shelf
Hey man do those short Little sticks get you high enough
I can get around 18 foot with no aders
Alrighty I have them on the way thanks man I'm alot smaller than you but I got the stand today it's pretty light
How high can you get with those short steps?
18 feet
Little stretch 20
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors thanks for the reply.
Yea man anytime
Is there room for 3 sticks on each side?
You think that setup is lighter than summit viper climber? I need to hit that treadmill lol
The steel or the sd viper?
I ask bc weights are
Xop 22lbs
Viper sd 21lbs
Viper steel 29lbs
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors . Ok thanks. Sd viper
how high can you climb with that setup
16 feet pretty comfortably
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors with or without aiders
Without
Links don't work anymore
Correct the vanish combo is no longer available on their site due to upgrades however, the code still works with all the new products
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors oh ok thanks
buy a 5 inch j bolt and wing nut u can turn the xop seat into a shelf it's awesome
The way I mount by sticks supports the seat for the shelf I love it!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors yeah i needed a shelf seat for my sticks and large fanny pack
If that’s not your go to stand which tree stand is you go to? 9 out of 10 times.
I use my lone wolf hand climber (most of the time). It is my go too. However I have a lock on and a saddle because I do not believe there is a end all be all… all of them are tools and better than the other in certain situations
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors is the lone wolf more versatile than the XOP what’s you give and take away between both of these stands.
@@cottojn there’s videos on both under stand reviews on my channel
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors good stuff I can’t even find that model treestand the new lone wolf base model is like just over $500.
@@cottojn lone wolf went out of business last December ish
I thought you were moving to a lock on. I was about to unsubscribe😜. I love climber hunting and it seems like you are one of the few left
Hahaha not a chance! I’ll have this and the saddle for when I don’t have an option for the climber!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors That is the same way I do it. I use my hand climber 99% of the time. When I need to go somewhere I can’t use a Climber I use my Lone Wolf alpha and sticks or my JX3 Hybrid saddle
Camera man should get closer to him we can barely see what he's doing.
I apologize I self film everything if you have any questions I can certainly try to answer them! Thanks for watching!
