    Great video guys. I self film and hunt public ground I’m pa too! I use a lone wolf climber stand. I’m sub 20lbs and have a much slender profile for hiking deep in. I strap my backpack to the back of the stand with my camera gear and away I go. I’m on north central PA. We have a lot of hardwoods so not hard finding good climbing trees.

    He sold me on the LW alpha, larger stand and it comes in 2lbs heavier whooptie doo. The straps are easier to deal with the LW sticks then the custom gear’s, as they are already out on the sticks and not in a pack all tangled up. With the stick quiver on the LW it keeps the load in tight too.

    I will stick to my Lone Wolf Alpha. I like how you have the sticks in a big mess. You can just bungee the original sticks laying on their side on the back of the stand with your pack. Try putting those new sticks together back on the stand in the dark.

    • @BelowAverageRazzleDazzle
      @BelowAverageRazzleDazzle 4 роки тому

      Yea, he compared the Alpha but the Assault is LW's lightweight stand. The LWCG stand is more in line with the LW Assault. Also, no one stacks their sticks tall off the back of the stand like that. People either lay them flat and strap them down with the straps that hold the stand to the tree, or they use stick talons or the LW stick quiver. I don't like how bulky the LWCG stand and sticks are too. Yea they may not come out far fro the back, but they're TALL and that's worse. Walk through some brush and tangles and you'll see why.

    Love my new full size Novix Echo stand. The LWCG stands are just too dang tiny. Might as well just hunt from a saddle. Going back to Lone Wolf sticks....uh, Novix lol as well. Oh....and they’ll likely be coming out with a Novix more along the size of the Assault next year, which is the smallest platform I’ll hunt from.

  • @kawi4ev
    @kawi4ev 3 роки тому +2

    So you mean to tell me there is only a 2lb difference from the original lone wolf which it has a much larger platform, and the sticks are longer as well... doesn’t seem worth the price difference.

    You were comparing the LW Alpha II vs the LW custom gear version on the Assault II. Not apples to apples but still good info. Was also surprised about weight of LWCG sticks. I switched to saddle hunting this year and have 4 Assault’s, 2 Alpha’s and a hand climber as well as 3 sets of sticks. May all be for sale next year - lol.

    • @Cervicide1
      @Cervicide1  4 роки тому

      Yes this is all gear that we own and unfortunately we didn't have the LW Assault II to compare with the LWCG Stand. However it still does depict what is going on with weight. We've been checking out saddle systems and depending on what you are running they are very comparable to stands in the weight department.

      Jake Gilly , yes , I use LW sticks as that is what I had. Amsteel daisy chain and will be going with double non folding steps for next year. Also put a rope aider on each step to get extra height. I use 4 sticks and a LW hand climber seat as a platform. Trying to use what I already have to keep expenses to a minimum.

    You can tell with the price range that LWCG did not make these stands for the everyday hard worker that hunts. They will need to cut that price just about in half and they would see some major sales. If not lone wolf and XOP will still blow them out of the water on sales, especially with XOP new vanish that is out that is just 3 lbs heavier than the LWCG.

I don't stack the sticks like everyone does, I use a sling with looped ends that I use to put around all 4 sticks at once then carry it. So muck easier and faster than trying to stack the sticks together at night and the looped ends keep the sticks quiet when I walk to my stand

      It seems there is definitely room to improve reducing stand weight. For an out of the box setup, it's hard to beat. The price is high, but it's in a class of it's own. LWCG has raised the bar, I expect to see more companies making this new market place competitive and driving mobile hunting innovation.

Thanks for confirming why NOT to spend the LWCG price and get something better, lighter, for less!

    Is your Lone Wolf stand the Alpha or the Assault? And is your XOP the Air Raid or the Vanish? To do a fair comparison on weight you should compare the smallest Lone Wolf and XOP to Lone Wolf custom gear as they are similar in platform size.

    wow you can really tell this wasn't a biased review (insert eye roll).... Why don't you talk more in depth about cost vs features you get and the negatives of each stand. The LWCG you have a hard on for has a lot more issues than you think. Especially for what it costs. If you weren't aware, that Lonewolf can give you your beloved "shelf" if you flipped the seat over and hooked it with a piece of paracord. If you were honest, you should have said you can achieve the exact same thing as the "ground breaking" LWCG with a few simple mods to the other 2 stands and save yourself a lot of money. It also might help if you compare the same size stands instead of the two larger model stands that Lonewolf and XOP make instead of the 2 smaller models that are similar size to the LWCG.

    • @Cervicide1
      @Cervicide1  4 роки тому +3

      Hey Skylar, you make some great points. I still stand by my statement, that if you're solely basing your decision on money XOP is hard to beat.
      The purpose of review was to educate people on the differences of the stands, you make a great point that there are smaller stand options out there by both XOP and Lone Wolf more comparable to LWCG size.
      I personally bought all the stands in the video, and have never used the smaller platforms, therefore didn't have them to use in video. This surely would affect the overall weight.
      We intend to do additional videos, modifications and in the field performance are two great topics. Just because you can modify a stand to get more performance isn't different than modifying a truck. It may seem like everyone does it, but this isn't the truth.
      For me the compact, streamlined features of the LWCG setup was all I needed to make the purchase. Ultimately, the choice of stand is yours. For the average hunter that choice is not any of the 3 in this video. Happy hunting -Jimmy.
