The Dempster Highway comes to mind for a remote adventure. It's one of only two roads I'm aware of in North America that cross the Arctic Circle, the other being the Dalton Highway in Alaska. From its junction with the Klondike Highway in the Yukon, the Dempster (when combined with the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway) will take you over 800 kilometers, all gravel, one-way to the Arctic Ocean and the little Hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk. As far as remote travel goes in North America, it's pretty remote and pretty adventurous. You won't need 4WD, but the scenery is spectacular. The people are kind, the landscapes are breathtaking, and the wildlife is plentiful (especially the mosquitoes!).

Sloop John B fair got me in, and Jeramey of course. Love Jeramey J.
Gave up eating my lunch when Gwyn said what she said about oysters :) And must say to all from Canaedia that Andrew endeared himself to us Aussies with 'Spiniflex'.
Loved that you included that 'bighead' moment trying on the beanie :) Really, really enjoyed this, Andrew. Thanks so much.

Andrew, as a Patreon and expat Canadian exiled to the land of Stars and Stripes it was great to see you visiting Our Home And Native Land, as the song goes. *Please* consider an adventure up the Dempster Highway up to Tuktoyaktuk, the most northerly point that you can drive to in the entire world. It's not as empty as the outback, but it's something your global-reach audience would love to see, and if you like rugged scenery, grizzly bears, bison, that's a route you must consider. My wife and I will hopefully be doing it this time next year.

If you're looking for contacts around BC get in touch with Fab at West Coast Off Road a shop in North Vancouver, they're an ARB and Alu-Cab dealer who build some beautiful rigs. Overland Outfitters is another good shop specializing in Toyotas. As for local knowledge grab a back road map book and hit just about any logging road or crown land and drive until you find a spot, it's all public and beautiful. Bit tough with the fires this year but still lots of nice spots not too far from the city, plenty of tough tracks if that's what you want as well.

Check out Newfoundland, lots of gravel beach camping. St Pierre and Miquelon is a French territory with a huge sand beach. You can drive to Hudson Bay. You can almost drive to the shore of great bear lake (1 water crossing). These are pretty remote and uncrowded.

Welcome to Canada!!! So happy to see you came to see my home city of Vancouver. Hopefully you had an excellent time in the area and want to come back. Oh how I wish I had seen you out and about to say hello and thank you in person for all you bring to peoples lives. It would be amazing to see a 4xoverland trip on the Dempster Highway someday, anywhere in Canada really. It is a beautiful country. So glad you finally made it here!

It's a simple equation. Value for value. How much value have you received from Andrew? Give it back. Don't think in terms of coffee. But value. If nothing then move on. If more, contribute it back.

There are a lot of ex-pat.'s (French and English) on Vancouver Island. Our high school band from the central interior of British Columbia took a trip to the island to get exposed to urban culture. The parents found us polite and nicely dressed whereas their own were "wild".
Tourism is very big in Beautiful BC and hunting and fishing so popular you could take your RV towing a boat to wilderness lakes.

TransLabrador highway, La route de Baie James, Trans Taïga highway; all are wild places, minimal services, beautiful scenery. All starts @ 12 hours distance from Montréal.
You could go to Arctic ocean, or travel Trans Canada...

You could do an amazing trip through bc, Yukon and up the dempster to spend a night on the Arctic coast under the midnight sun. If you can get vehicles in Seattle it’s only an hour and a half drive from Vancouver, so the vehicle problem is not really there.

    A) If you are into wildlife then it looks like you missed a treat not visiting Johnson Straight off Vancouver Island. Only topped by Africa for me
    B) “we don’t follow the crowds with millions of campers”, so follow the millions in two big cities?
    C) Canada is one of the outdoor capitals of the world. Northern BC is truly one of the great last untouched ecosystems. What a place to overland!

Roger Doucette bilingually belting out Oh Canada! at the Forum in Montreal ushered in how many cups for Les Habitants? I'm convinced that since they tore down the Forum, that permanently cursed the Habs. As for the Leafs, they haven't stood for anything except Oh Canada! since 1967.

If your looking for culture and history you cant beat lower Quebec but be prepared to be treated very rudely as an Anglophone by some Quebecois if you've not brushed up on some french.
