Love the bit about Wimpy. I would never normally eat at one, however it’s somewhat of a tradition when starting a road trip and evokes strong memories of the excitement I felt as a kid. The food is ordinary and the coffee very meh. But I love it. If you live in the UK, it’s a bit like that having a beer at the airport bar at 6am….now we are on holiday….😂
I think that Wimpy is clever to put it in most petrol stations. So you’ll fill up as a family and say ‘Hey, let’s have a lunch break at Wimpy.’ And we share a lot of memories there. Brilliant, I can’t lie.
Wimpy! My folks took me there for a treat...Burgers and fries! I just loved the coleslaw! Remember having one of my birthday parties many moons ago with all my school friends attending in Nairobi, Kenya! Ofcourse, I ate so much Coleslaw, I felt abit ill! 😂 The rare wimpy's ive found in the UK, aren't the same! 😢
The deserted town might have seemed that way because of load shedding, no use to open your business if you have no electricity. Private generators are very expensive to run and maintain. Greetings from South Africa, the home of loadshedding.
We used to have a Wimpy's in Perth (many moons ago) on Mounts Bay Road. My mum worked there at nights and that would be a good 60 years ago. Need to find and old photo of the place.

To get excellent photos of the vast array of wildlife face on like the Elephant, Wildebeest, Tortoise & everyone's favorite the Dung Beetle you only need to go to Joondalup shopping centre. LOL.

I haven't sat at a Wimpy's Grill since the 1970s. Of course we knew Wimpy from Popeye. There were other chains disapearing at the same time. Sandy's was another that disapeared about the same time. Nice to see one still open somewhere in the world.

Windhoek Draught is my second favourite. My most favourite comes from the same factory - it's Tafel Lager. I'm biased though because I am Namibian :)
