    Am not 100% sure but I think as long as u own the game the roms are legal but downloading them is... I don't emulated anything newer than 10 years so I will not emulator switch.... I also do a lot of fan translated and fan made games.... I am glad you ur back

    Simple. Emulators that don't use copywritten code can exist. You must own a license to own the roms and bios of a console (you can legally dump your own rom/bios depending on the country you live in, like Canada), so any roms/bios downloaded that you do not own a license for is illegal, be it if the game/console is actively being sold or not; it still has a commercial license so, so-called "abandonware" status does not exist in ANY legal space.
