  • Today we will talk about the Minelab SDC 2300 metal detector as well as doing a bit of gold nugget hunting here in Arizona. It sure is nice to have temps in the 70s now and hunting gold nuggets is back on full steam ahead.

    Beautiful nugget, after digging nail, bullet, broken horse shoe, tack, rolled up foil, casing which I'm good at finding and finally a gold nugget makes your heart jump and puts a great big smile on me.

    Good video, i own a SDC 2300 for 11 months now and love it and even more now with a differant coil, coiltek 10" fitted and i now get deeper small nuggets than before 😊👍🏻

      I also have 3 mates here in Australia using the small pointy one and there also working great and they say there great in the thick bush - grass areas and pick up real small targets, so i plan to buy one soon, the only down side with the coiltek coils is there not water proof but okay to use in a little rain. Also if you get the lose battery sudden turn offs we put a roll of tape as wide as the battery once around the battery with a 5mm over lay and then no more sudden shut off restarts. I enjoy watching your videos

    Used my friends sdc one time and really liked it, easy to use and way more sensitive to small gold then the GPX 's even with a sadie or evo coil.

    When I get to those really small targets in the scoop i dump the little bit of material onto the coil and you can sort through it with your finger. I also carry a magnet, saves a lot of time searching through the scoop for those tiny pieces of rust and iron 👌🏻

    While you're 'guessing' what one target is, based on the lack of a VDI readout; I've already covered 10+ targets-that are all iron, aluminum, junk, etc. A VDI readout show the number range that gold reads out at. But you wanna dig 30+ mins- on one target based on a detector's guess... This unit is overpriced, just like the Gold Monster. You WILL dig almost every target with this unit, and it takes ONE HOUR to dig out a 1ft deep target- in the tough caliche desert ground. I've used Garrett ATX's, GBII's, etc, both with no VDI readout-and got rid of them. Sure; the sound has alot to do with these units-but a VDI readout gives me a conclusion instantly. Save yourselve's a pile of money, folks; get an Equinox 800, even a Whites MXT. Ive' been trying to tell buyers for a couple years that; the Minelab Gold Monster and similar non-VDI units are hyped-up detectors. My 14 year old Whites MXT will hit a nickel at 16 inches; the equivelant to a one ounce gold nugget, (With the smaller Eclipse 5.3 mono coil,)It will hit a #8/.080 birdshot bb also. Maybe folks will wise up and stop dropping a $1,000.00 bucks and more-on the GM and SDC2300.

    Morning Bill! Question regarding the SD2300. There are several videos on how to operate the SDC, but since it doesn’t offer a readout to help the user identify if the target is ferrous or non ferrous, perhaps you would consider making a video drawing on your own experience interpreting the signals. I know learning to identify diggable “gold signals” comes through experience and getting to know your machine, but you have a wealth of experience and knowledge your viewers could benefit from. Just a thought. Have a great day “my friend”.

    • @NUGGETSHOOTER
      @NUGGETSHOOTER  2 роки тому

      I dig ALL targets Jeff, there is no discrimination on the 6000 and 7000 either. Discrimination on a gold detector is not reliable and will cause one to walk away from gold. Even on my Equinox 800 and Gold Monster 1000 i NEVER use discrimination when hunting nuggets

    I’m always interested in PI especially the SDC.. The 3k+ is a bit of a deal killer for me.. however I keep looking at it?
    The light weight of my GM1000, GB2 and older Whites GM2 are so light and convenient it’s difficult to justify a high performance SDC 2300.
    Question sir.. maybe you can pass along to Minelabs.. the GM1000 li-on battery is over a 100 bucks? I have trouble paying 100+ bucks for a 7.2v li-on backup battery that is hugely expensive? 20 bucks is more inline..
    I can screw around and build a much higher performance backup li-on for 20 bucks.. most can’t and are forced to buy or use the lousy AA pack? I am not impressed with the over priced li-on battery and charging 100+ is totally out of line?
    New Replacement li-on battery for my drone 20 bucks, OEM GoPro battery 15 bucks?
    They need to come to grips with this battery pricing. However I really like the GM1000 and is a fairly good price.. li-on battery not so much.
    Really enjoy your channel Bill!
    Keep swinging dude!
