Thanks for being honest with your video. Most on YT like to plant things to make them look better. I recently purchased a 2300 and nox 900. Did not think the GM was any better than the GM.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I've spent some more time with the SDC and am really liking it. The biggest advantage is how much better it handles the hot ground but it definitely can't find as small of gold as the GM. Heavy pans
Your Minelab SDC 2300 looks to have some great potential! Can't wait to see how the gold monster 1000 compares to the SDC 2300 when you bury that gold🤙 Loved the little piece of pick you found👍 Great video, love your little partner there who rechecks the hole☺️💯❣️ 🌟New Subscriber🌟
I read an old article that stated that more gold has been found with pi machines then all vlfs combined don’t know if that was true or if it would still be with all the new machines
Great timing on the video, I am going to buy an SDC myself since Gary (2Toes) uses one and kills. Maybe we can plan an outing with the new machines? Thanks for the video!
I just got an SDC2300 also 😁 I have the gold monster also i've found a lot of nuggets with it and cant wait to take my sdc2300 to my spot here in southern oregon once all the snow melts an i can get up the mountain
you dont have the fast track feature on you gm1000. hold the discrimination button down for a few seconds coil starts blinking. usually gets rid of ground noise. (fast ground balance) have a good day
Great video Mr. I’m over in the west Australia outback from the uk. Found no gold with my Vanquish 440… So hired one of these today. Had a quick play but then it started raining so thought I’d watch shyte on UA-cam instead 😂… I have a small .28 gram nugget and tested with it. I’m not sure this is much better than my 440 … found all sorts with the 440 bar gold, and at decent depth. Did I just waste 300 on hire? PS… And te 2300 is blummin heavy! And the vanquish can ignore most iron. Cheers 🍻
Thanks for the video and making it easy to understand and you should make a harness for your little mate he could be running around doing his version of detecting seems he likes to help ☺️.How come many people don’t use hand held pin pointers? I find it saves a lot of back and forward, also does this detector always make such a loud hum? I have had 2 other Minelabs that when not next to a target it went quiet while I dug? I only used this one yesterday for the first time so had no clue what I was doing as only had a short time to watch a quick video it was my husbands and very very sadly he had just brought it and hadn’t even had a chance to charge it up for the first time and he passed away so I guess I was distracted using it and thinking of how much I wish he was with me using his detector.
People often Don't use pinpointers because the targets are so small that they're hard to find with the pin pointer. Yes, the constant hum is a common feature of pulse induction metal detectors and the variation in that hum is what helps you identify a target in the ground. I'm sorry to hear about your husband but I'm sure he's with you and spirit when your prospecting. I have a lot of videos on this machine if you'd like to check those out and learn more and there's other good videos around UA-cam as well. Good luck
@@MountaineerMatt Thanks for answering my questions it was a last minute idea to use my husbands detector for the first time as I was going somewhere that has some old mines and nobody detects there and it kept going crazy but I hadn’t had time to do any research on this I have a different Minelab to this one and also an old model from before and they don’t really hum while you have them laying near you while you dig so I was curious if I was doing something wrong. And thank you also for the thought of him being with me I felt quite guilty using it but I know your right he would have wanted me to use it. I will let you know if,I find anything and I sure will be checking out your videos and get some good easy to understand advice from you.☺
Definitely. I've gotten a lot quicker at pinpointing since the day I took this video. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time. Can't wait to get back out with it 👍🇺🇸
Hi Been enjoying your videos especially the comparison ones. Very clear and simple to understand. I've been detecting off and on for years. Looking to buy a new detector. Would like for gold in streams and on ocean beach that is mineralized. Lots of iron content in the rocks. Which would you recommend. Open to any suggestions. Thanks!
Glad you're enjoying the videos! You won't be able to find golden nuggets on the beach but if you're looking for golden rings and relics on the beach then you would want to use a VLF metal detector. A good VLF that can detect gold nuggets as well as relics is the equinox 800. However, if you're looking to specifically look for gold then I'd recommend the SDC 2300 because it's waterproof and does well in rivers and creeks. Good luck!
@@nickauclair8710 I have not used the 900. But I can say the 800 replaced my gold monster 1000. Especially with the small coil. My latest long video uses the 800
Great video! Been looking at this machine lately and am still on the fence. With this video being a year old, are you currently liking the machine or are there better options out there?
Glad you enjoyed the video! If you're looking for another detector in the same price range (USA) then there is also the Garrett axiom. I have a recent video comparing the SDC2300 vs the Garrett Axiom that you may find useful
@@MountaineerMatt thanks for that info. Was just texting with another prospector and he said the same thing “Axiom”. Keep grinding out good content, be well!
Good video, thanks Matt! one question: do you need to push the green button every time you move to a new area (let's say 20 meters away from the 1st place where you push the green button)?
The SDC is really good at auto balancing on its own so you really own need to push the green button to balance the machine if it seems to be struggling to maintain a steady threshold tone in a particular spot. So in short, you only need to push the green button if it's needed.
seen a guy that carries the gold monster 1000 on his back to check the iron spots. I bet it would be nice to have them both out there for cross reference. Hes in a heavy spot of nails and shoe nails from old timers and says he's gotten the different sounds down pretty good with the double detector use to distinguish, he wont even dig a bunch of stuff up. then again he's using a 6000 and the 1000 to distinguish. I can see wanting to dig them all haha cool find on the pickaxe
Not convinced, the coil on the 230 runs better when free on the axle you actually touch the ground all over the coil when searching . Experienced 230 people usually have a more powerful one for difficult soil. 230 Claiming 100% waterproof . Australians pay top dollar for everything , the list is too long to leave here ,thanks for the video.
Awesome video Matt, Docs Detectors makes a cover that goes over the detector body, you might like it to protect your investment. Really good video love your pup! Dan Brent

Congratulations on the sdc. I have a goldmonster and just bought a Garrett Axiom to complement the gm 1000. Headed to coloma in 2 days to try it out.
I've heard really good things about the Axiom. Good luck in Coloma
How deep can this sdc2300 penetrate metal? For example, about 3 grams of gold, is there a mode that can only find gold?❤❤❤

That bullet at 11:26 is an old one ……..from the 1800’s
I tried to date it but I have no idea when they started knurling bullets. I have a lot to learn about dating old relics.
