This is not a test that is ment to show which detector is better. It's also not ment to be fair, because all these machines are different in every aspect, it can't be fair.
This Is just showing you base settings on each machine and its capabilities on said target.
So chill out, just enjoy it. If you want to make your own film and compare then do so 🙃

Thanks for the upload mate from what I have found the 6000 is easier to use and is almost on it's limit of auto ground balance capabilities in stock settings in hot ground and dose put out a better sound than a stock 7k but the 7k is running less than half power stock so for an experienced operator 7k all day a beginner to intermediate operator 6k is the way to go 👌👍 keep up the good work mate

Coil size makes a huge difference on depth of detection for ALL metal detectors. The SDC is not a machine to punch deep on decent size pieces like a 2 gram nugget with its smaller coil. The 7000 is much better for that. It would be interesting to see the performance of these detectors on a 0.2 gram piece. I am expecting that the SDC would be as good as or at least very close to the 6000. Comparing gold detectors is a very difficult thing as there are so many different soil conditions in the field and every nugget is different. There are a few places mild enough to use a VLF in WA - been there and seen them. Still, in general WA is pretty wildly mineralized.

For the first time since I became ill with fibromyalgia received 3rd degree burns Lost my job over it have been diagnosed with PTSD and all the little goodies that come with it had to leave my family go to the other side of Australia from Perth living in Brisbane ending up sleeping in the back of a 4x4 for over 8 months ended up in hospital for nearly taking my life being declared homeless from Qld being treated like a animal from my brother and his family living in a home that was always way to insane for someone with my condition then moving back to western Australia trying to put my life back together again with my wife! All of this happened just under 4years now I have been watching learning from your videos Chris also pioneer Pauly dan Hurd killing time waiting for an opportunity to start doing what you guys do for myself I am waiting for some money to come in so I can get my own equipment but my biggest issue was the detector now that the GPX 6000 has got me all excited will get me out of this dark place to hat I have been living and out into the bush again out into nature the place that makes me feel normal thank you once again to all of you for all your expert advice now I can put it all into practice !! some would why say all this it's on UA-cam but because guys and girls like Chris and others that kept me going and giving me something to look forward to Kind regards Manny

Using that stick in the trench as reference, the SDC coil was not swung over the target? Compare where 6000 picks up the target.....centre of coil over stick. SDC was swung behind stick? 2:55 vs 3:55

Hi Chris I own a New SDC and I’ve reviewed this video a few times. I agree it’s not a test to show which one is better as the test was flawed in a few ways. A couple of messages on here have already identified some key issues that would have affected the outcome. One factor that’s has not been identified as yet is the fact when he was swinging the SDC there was no scratch coil to ground noise and the swing was in a arc. Another issue I identified was when he said there was no signal from the SDC at 300mm the same inconsistent signal could be heard from the 6000 and low and behold he stated it was picking up the target. As a detectorist we all know that we walk over gold time and time again and for some reason one day we walk over the same area and bugger me there’s a target in the ground. Coils are coils and detectors are detectors. I write this not to undermine the video as I wasn’t there on the day but rather throw out some questions for feedback. I think at the end of the day the video was suggestive and possible misleading based on what I have suggested above.

    • @VoGusProspecting

The only part I'll argue with is this.
The sdc has a constant threshold. So what he ment by the 6000 made a definite noise and the 2300 didn't is that the 6000 had its threshold off. So any noise under the coil is a potential target. As random chatter on the sdc is harder to knoenif it is a target.

Comparisons like this are a great way to compare detectors.
I would like to see similar done with targets of differing sizes of gold and metal, buried at increasing depths, then tested with various detector brands and models. If it could be repeated in various types of soil, including sand, it would surely put a lot of detector ability claims to rest.

GOLD SIGNATURE.Each new generation of minelab machines have a different gold signature. By changing the frequencies and timings new levels of depth on nuggets of different sizes create opportunities. To consider that each new machine takes all the capabilities of the previous model and improves on them would be incorrect. They all have their strengths.A good example of this is in the Triangle during the early days you could go to Coiltek Maryborough and regularly see 20 oz nuggets with the advent of the gp series the occurrence became much rarer and with gpx machines and monos almost non existent. The big coil on the 7000 was an outstanding failure on because the sd series had beat them to it.If a 1gram nugget is 3mm deeper than your machines capabilities on all possible coil combinations, there it sits until the Gpx9000 comes out and once again new ground opens up.The 6 7 and 23 are the best user friendly machines to date. There are nuggets all of them will find and nuggets only because of their gold signature only they will find Cheers
