    Thanks for taking the time to produce a great video 👍Just bought my wife a 6k for our anniversary back in December. Heading out tomorrow for the first run at Whroo (Victoria Australia) Also grabbed a Nugget Finder 12x7 Exceed to push into the harder to get to ground with the standard round coils. Hopefully one day we'll make a trip to the USA and find a bit of colour. Keep up the good work 👏 🍻

    I just finished watching the entire video. Between the video and what I know Scott’s been finding lately I’m sold on that 6000. Just need to find $6000. Buy the way I was one of the first guys to hunt that field and took a lot of gold out of there. Great video.

      Yes I know you were, have heard some incredible stories about those days and you guys. Must have been really awesome! Was very hard for me to lay out $6k as well but I sure am glad I did! 🤠⛏️

    Great video very well explained, yes i read all comments one in particular the comparison between gpx5000 and gpz7000 he threw some heat on it.
    I know a very experienced detectores that has gpx4500 an gpz7000 big and small coils for both which all 4 to 6 coils for both machines all find different sized gold and depths.
    I'm in Australia i sold a Garrett i was close to buying the 7000 but my mate worned me there no easy feet in highly mineralised iron stone ground with little experience tuning , put it this way another video i watched 7000 with 19inch coil 350mm approx 14" depth one ounce nugget the 7000 was noisier than my wife and 3 kids put together mineralisedgroundbarely here the target . That's definitely not for a beginner or intermediate detecteris with zero patience to pin point what to do , the ground is very hi mineralised in most gold feilds in Oz.
    Well i say after watching video the gpx6000 would be good enough to get you started and continue detecting without quitting from a machine screaming at you.
    Cheers thanks any new big coils available for 6000 yet ?

    Hi Mark, great video... I just purchased a 6000 almost like new off of eBay, can't wait to try it out.. I have the Gold Monster 1000 with the 6" coil and also later purchased again off of eBay and was like new the Equinox 800 and with the small coil it does almost as good as the Monster. But really wanting to try the 6000 and now will have to see about getting the 17" coil. I am in southern CA and have a vacation house in Havasu hoping to try my luck around there. Again can't wait to see the 6000, just won the auction earlier this morning. Thanks, Dave...

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Dave, Thank you for the view and comment! I have all of those same detectors and use them all. However, I prefer to look for relics over gold on most days and take my CTX3030 out for those trips, I absolutely love my Gold Monster 1000 and do very well with it. It is a little tricky to setup right and I have a video coming out this week showing pro tips and tricks of the GM1000. Your going to do very well with your GPX-6000 but I recommend since you have both machines that you cover a patch pretty good with your GM1000 first then come back in after with the GPX-6000. Another recommendation that I didn't cover in this video is to keep the skid plate (coil cover) clean inside on GPX-6000. Take it off and clean your coil and the inside of the skid plate often. Also a great idea to run electrical tape around edge so you keep dust out of the space between the coil and skid plate. I use black electrical tape so I can see where white starts showing through so I know when to clean it again. Along this same line, the old technique of pouring a plastic trowel or handful of dirt on to the top of the coil then agitating it with your hand to hear a nugget is a bad idea on the GPX-6000. First of all it scratches and discolors your coil, but more importantly this machine is like a race horse ready to run, it is running full tilt from the time you turn it on. Rarely ever will you find ground or atmospheric conditions to get it to run stable at high sensitivity. In most ground it's running about 12 o'clock on sens to be stable. Turning the sensitivity up on this machine makes a real difference in depth, you want to run the 6000 as hot as you can while still being able to discern a signal over ground cry. Any dust or dirt on top of coil or in between the skid plate and coil will cost you some sensitivity. Take heed to my tips about cell phones too! Best of luck out there!! That's quite the arsenal you have now!

    Compared to the gpz 7000 and the previous gpx range this detector is a tempramental, noisy and fails as an overall usable detecor across heavy Mineralization or in warmer weather.
    Many have gone back under warranty.
    Bought one, used it extensively, failed too many tests and didnt hear signals that were audible on the gpz when gold size was over 1g.
    If you want flyspec gold in cool weather and on quiet ground... Great.
    Mine was happily sold on.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  8 місяців тому

      Have you seen the video that Woody made (DetectorMods) where he used the carbon shielding inside the control box to quiet the machine way down? He filed the anodized collar nut on the inside of the circuit side so that it made contact with the shielding (obviously voids the warranty) but there is an option. I see what your saying here but even so I have found literally pounds of nuggets with my GPX-6000 in pretty nasty blood red dirt here in California. I do prefer to use my GPZ whenever I can, it just makes for a long day swinging that machine as I am 6' 3" and the overall max length feels about 2" too short for me causing me to have to lean forward ever so slightly to operate it which quickly takes it's toll on my low back. May I ask for what reason(s) did "Many have gone back under warranty"? Btw: All of my detectors do better in cooler weather. Thank you for the view and comment!

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому +2

      Great question!! Firstly the shafts to red marks, yes you can run it shorter . . . but don't. Try to run it as far away from your shoes (that have metal in them) and your cell phone in your pocket to eliminate unnecessary noises. Doesn't matter on label really but correct or recommended is away. I personally like using wireless headphones on the GPX-6000 and have no issues with them as far as latency goes. Thanks for the view, comment and questions!!! Lmk how you do with it! I love mine and do VERY well with it.

      @BrassMedic  Рік тому

      Hi Joe, Thank you for the view, kind comment and question. Great question, so yes I have and the GPZ has twice heard targets that the GPX-6000 with the 17" and 11" could not hear at all, even with factors such as ground balance, sensitivity and other settings optimized. Hands down the GPZ is deeper!! Both of those nuggets were nice 2+ dWt nuggets and deep! GPZ is still king for deep! I still do very well with nugget counts at the end of the day when head to head with other GPX's and GPZ's but I am missing out on some nice deep ones. 🤠⛏️

      @@BrassMedic that’s good to know. I’m still on the fence about selling my 5000 to get a 6000. I’ve heard that even the 5000 with a 17” flat wind coil (Evo) can punch deeper than the 6000; in fact my friend, who has a 6000, recently borrowed my 5000 in hopes of getting more depth in a patch he was working. Hearing reports like that have giving me pause, but the ergonomics and weight of the 6 are very enticing. Thanks for the reply!

      It all depends on what your trying to find and how much iron is in the ground. By iron, I mean nails, screws, old tools, etc. If lots of this like an old home site, then you would want to hear all the iron grunts and listen for the high tones mixed in and swing slowly, when you hear a nice, repeatable high tone, turn 90 degrees on it and swing again, if you still hear it repeating, dig it! The search mode I recommend for parks is "Coins". The search mode I recommend for old home sites is "Relics".

    Great clip....the 6000 is definitely better than the 7000 on really small shallow gold, it has been called a 2300 on steroids. But for all out depth performance, the 7000 is still king.
    It has been noted that the "new" 17 inch coil for the 6000 is still very sensitive to the small stuff, even comparable to the 11inch coil.
    Still to get the 17 inch for my 6000...very soon, when stock is available.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  11 місяців тому

      Hello and thanks for checking out the video if you are asking if the mono coil can differentiate between iron and conductive targets (discriminate). The answer is no it can't. This machine does give some total nuances on iron as compared to conductive targets but it takes a lot of hours of ear training to learn this. But generally speaking you should expect to dig every signal with this machine. Some of the more successful nugget Hunters that I know only dig faint deep signals. And then I come in behind them and dig the loud ones which are shallow nuggets that they passed over thinking it was a nail. It's an incredible detector but it takes a lot of patience and determination to find gold. Thanks for the view and question!

    Hi Mark. Just found your channel as I’m looking at possibly a 6000 or 7000 purchase. I currently have a modified GPX 5000 and I’m not sure if the cost of a 6000 would be that much of an advantage over the 5000. Im curious why they sell the 6000 with a DD coil when the detector doesn’t have discrimination. I’m also wondering if sensitivity would be increased on the 7000 with a smaller coil. If your the Mark I think you are we have a common detecting friend. I’ve been detecting an area in the Sacramento valley for about 25 years. That area in your video looks very familiar. I’ve had every SD, GP, GPX machine Minelab has come out with. I’ve done very well out there and was actually one of the first two people to detect out there. Very good explanation of the pros of 6000.

      Hi Wes!! Yes it's me. I have heard the stories about the early days out there with you guys, amazing stories! Exactly like I said in the video, 7000 is king no doubt and will hear deep, better nuggets that the 6000 can't hear at all. Trust me, I have confirmed this many times. The 6000 does excel on finding the smaller nuggets (down to 5 grains), even with the 14" coil. The reason for the DD being included is not for any discrimination circuitry, it's rather just for EMI issues as the polarized dual coils are much more stable in difficult ground (mineralization or hot rocks). Running the DD coil in stable ground with no EMI or interference is not advised by Minelab as you will lose performance and depth. But in most cases it's better than having to use a VLF machine due to difficult ground or EMI. I will also go back to what I said about the weight issues in my final thoughts. Swinging the 6000 all day is not too bad . . . . BUT, swinging the 7000 all day will kick your butt to say the least. Makes for a long hard day swinging the 7000 and digging 18" deep targets in hard ground. At the end of the day you have to weigh the advantages of both. I sold my 7000 when I bought the 6000, however, now I want and need both so I am in the market to get another 7000 soon so I have both. But in short I will say that you will have many good days with a 6000! If you get one, order that 14" coil same day! I heard there is a new coil out by Coiltek called the Goldenhawk, comes in 9”, 10×5” and 14×9”. I have not tested these yet but I am eager to do so!! I'll run into you out there one of these days. Until then, best of luck!!!

      Hello, Thank you for your view and question. The GPX-6000 and the GPZ-7000 are the deepest gold machines made. The depth matters on the soil (mineralization) and several factors regarding the target including the shape (surface area) the density, orientation in the soil, and of course the settings (sensitivity) of the machine and which coil (size) your using. For example a nice 1 Troy ounce round, gold nugget in mild soil can clearly be heard at nearly 18" (45 cm) !! A small, round 1 gram nugget can be heard easily at 6" (15 cm) depth. For me to tell you how deep it can detect is very difficult as there are so many factors but just know that they are both the deepest gold detectors currently available. 🤠⛏️

    • @BrassMedic

      Thank you for the view and kind comment! To be honest, this machine and the rest of the GPX and even GPZ series is not ideal for searching amongst iron and relics if your just trying to detect gold. Your going to hear everything. With the exception of the double D coil on the GPX-5000, none of these are able to do much about discriminating iron. Now a trained, seasoned ear can really pick out the subtle differences that gold signals give, like the warbly sounds from a piece of iron... but generally speaking it's not the ideal machine for searching amongst iron or relics if trying to hear gold only. You should consider the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 for that application, we'll suited for discriminating out iron and a VERY capable gold machine! Mine has paid for itself many times over! Check out my email in the comments section below if you have any other detailed questions. As far as mineralized soil goes, this machine and the flagship GPZ-7000 are both designed from the ground up to perform in the most heavily mineralized soils in the world. Both are fantastic and this is usually not an issue if you set your sensitivity accordingly. Thanks again and Happy Holidays! 🤠⛏️

      Hi Jaime, thank you for the view and comment/question. I'm not sure about this either but keep in mind that they have a track record of the 3500 costing $3,500 (US) when it came out, the 4000 was $4,000, the 5000 was $5000, etc... So the 7000 being the flagship cost $7000 maybe they released this 6000 as a slightly less capable machine with all the new/modern features and its simply priced at $6,000. When they jumped model numbers up from 5000 to 7000 could have simply been because they couldn't afford to sell the new GPZ-7000 for only $6,000 so the MSRP determined the new model number?? Hope you will subscribe to the channel. Cheers, Mark 🤠⛏️

    Better than GPX5000 most certainly NOT. First if the GPX6000 could use multiple coils (say 80 search coils from various brands then maybe). The GPX6000 also lacks customisable settings and crucial settings for more advanced operators and operators with hearing disabilities. Ask yourself why is there a high tone threshold, no threshold at all and yet they forgot to include a low tone threshold? The GPX6000 is exceptionally unstable in very wet or water logged mineralised grounds (14" DD hopeless). Now tell me, why did my GPX5000 with 25 inch coil give a break in threshold on a 43 ounce nugget and the GPX6000 and the GPZ7000 with 19 inch coil didn't make a whisper. How can the GPZ7000 be better than a GPX5000 when it doesn't hear some multi ounce pieces at depth? I'll tell you something; Minelab makes various detectors which all serve a purpose there is no best detector. Each detector is better suited for finding different shaped, sized, density pieces of gold and other targets and rubbish at various depths. Minelab don't want you to get rid of your GPX5000 or SDC2300 or GPZ7000 or Gold Monster or Equinox etc they want you to own them all, they call it marketing. They could make the ultimate detector to find everything but why would they when they can make more money selling multiple units overtime targeting different people in different countries to use there products to hunt for different types of gold. The GPX6000 is more so for new people (who don't have a vast knowledge of prospecting, geology, read the land etc) and yet they have a very high chance to find gold very quickly (at the cost of sacrificing features for more advanced users). Obviously minelab didn't want to complicate new operators with an arsenal of settings to set like GPX5000 or GPZ7000. If a new person finds gold with his GPX6000 he'll tell his mates and then Minelab gets more sales in a sense they are strengthening the market for there products. And you know what there is still gold that don't register on current known detectors - we have to wait and see what Bruce brings out next for minelab. Obviously Treasure Box your a minelab dealer or minelab agent or someone who really just doesn't understand how detectors work. Its sad because your educating new people to limit themselves with just one or two machines saying this is the best! when in fact it is best for shallower gold depending on the weather and ground conditions. SDC2300 I can use underwater, GPX6000 I can't.

      You bring up so very solid points here. I was honestly never able to swing a 25" Coil on my 5000. As you know it's not a fair comparison to compare depth between machines when one has a coil that is 100% larger than the other. Not sure how productive a 25" Coil is on smaller (sub dWt) pieces between the 0"-4"depth range.(?) which is the most common finds in a patch. Those super deep targets that cause just a "break in threshold" is not a skill level that most users of these machines are capable of finding without training and lots of experience. And yes, your comment about me being a nice guy for leaving the deep big pieces for others is absolutely true, those are being left by me for all the other pieces I am recovering on an outing. On most days I don't have the desire or probably the skill to even detect a 43 ounce nugget that was just a break in the threshold. If you have seen my other videos, you will have seen me dig many multi-ounce nuggets some down to over 12" deep but I have yet to detect and dig any of those super deep ones! I just hope that if I come across one, I just hope that on that day I have the energy and determination to spend the time to dig it. 5000 definitely has several features that I liked but for me I prefer and recommend the 6000 for the same reasons I mentioned in my long winded wrap-up. I don't rake issue with anything you said! Your on point all the way and trust me when I tell you I am going to find that 25" Coil and try it on video! One thing you said absolutely wrong though, that is your thinking that I sell or am an agent for Minelab. I do own 6 different Minelab and use them daily, but they have done nothing for me and I say what I want to say about all brands regardless of what any of those manufacturers think. I have no problems telling you all everything that I dislike about any machine. Over the last 35 years I have owned the best machines made by every company (both current companies and manufacturers that have since went out of business). I am sorry that you were so moved by my video that you had to take the time to send me such detailed comments but I sincerely appreciate you having done that! I have learned a lot because of what you said! Cheers, Mark ⛏️🤠

      @Treasure Box I wasn't comparing the GPX6000 and GPX5000 like you were in your video I was trying to point out that they are two different machines for finding different types of gold. There is no best detector each detector serves different purpose. (for example: is a screwdriver better than a hammer or a pair of scissors) You can't compare GPX5000 with GPX6000 because the GPX6000 is limited in its coil options and runs on different technology and is a really good detector for finding shallow nuggets, whereas the GPX5000 can find shallow nuggets too but maybe not as consistent to a GPX6000. GPX5000 finds multi ounce nuggets in very deep ground if using a big coil where as the GPX6000 is limited in coil sizes. 12" isn't very deep, 54" is the deepest I have dug to find a gold bearing reef. I tend to use GPX6000 take out every target in patch, then use GPZ7000 do the same and lastly use GPX5000 with big coil to finish off the patch until a newer detector comes out in the future.
      Fair enough you haven't had much success with GPX5000 but why influence new operators to think the same as you. Your review is biased, sure you can have an opinion but you should be stating that everyone else has to make there own decision on what detector works for them. Otherwise you might get done for product disparagement.
      Depth unfortunately is not predictable like a 30cm ruler you can buy from a store/shop. Depth is determined by coil size, coil wiring design, ground matrix, weather conditions, settings, EMI (Electrical Magnetic Interferences), day or night your detecting, size of the object, its shape, rotation of object in the ground, density: porous, stringy or solid, if operator knows a faint target from ground noise, the list goes on. Not to mention each detector manufactured can be different to the one in front and before it. Every prospector can however talk about the gold they have found at whatever depth. But that doesn't mean your detector is always searching 12" down in the ground everywhere you swing that coil.
      The coil I use is a Nugget Finder 25" DDX.

      Also just recently, my gpx6000 needed another new coil, which I brought even though it is still under warranty. I've been through 7 coils as they all seem to end up as touch sensitive. So on the most recent coil I pulled it apart to find out what's going on and to my surprise the shielding foil is ripped in several spots, how can this be? because the wiring in the coil has no padding what's so ever. When you swing the coil left to right the wiring moves inside the coil against the housing and slowly overtime tears the shielding. There is no protection its like they just dropped in the wiring loose and that's it. spend 8k for half-arsed coil, certainly not value for money. So how many of you have very noisy gpx6000 coil? or you probably don't realise and are walking around thinking EMI is bad today. I've pulled apart many coils, coiltek are the same. nugget finder are probably the best constructed coils I have ever seen.

      Hi Gary, I'll have to back and listen to the exact part your quoting from me, since depth in any machine on any target is subject to many factors such as mineralization, cool size settings, etc. I never give advice on the depth of any target. Way too subjective and what I think your referring to is in my wrap up and final thoughts, if I threw a depth out there in my thoughts it was not a science based measurement of a target, it was a figure of speech. I have a hunch that is what you heard. I also said that the 6000 is finding targets the 7000 missed. I have both and ONLY use the 6000 now, finding gold in all of our old patches scoured by the 7000's over the last couple of years. My advice to you on depth is never live and die but what any video or book or forum tells you, way too many factors to take in to consideration. I feel I get extra depth and stability in moist soil too. Both of these machines as well as the SDC-2300 and the Gold Monster 1000 are titans in the industry and all are incredibly capable at finding deep gold. Happy Holidays and best of luck! 🤠⛏️
