We are mid 50's, We have 95 acres woods and hills in Ky., 75 miles from where we now live. And we've talked about selling our home and 2 acres here, to relocate to the farm. You all have inspired me to just rip it off like a band aid and sellout here to move to the farm. I have a tractor and sawmill already. Thanks for the encouragement! Good luck n God Bless you.

As a professional builder I felt watching for a while that this was gonna take so long and be so labour intensive for you guys...
Then I realised that unlike me, for you the process is what you're enjoying, not getting it finished asap and moving onto the next one.
Its amazing what you can achieve when you are patient and methodical and just keep going.

I personally think it’s a blessing that the first concrete pour failed. Because giving it extra thickness and having professionals come finish it will give it a lot more strength. The strength is in the foundation anyway. Excited to see where this is going to go. All the best from Australia.

Don't let that concrete pour issue get you down. I'm 58 years old and a construction contractor that grew up in the trades. Concrete is hard, plain and simple! People don't realize it simply by watching a video, but when your hands-on in it there's a lot going on and it's happening a lot faster than you realize. That being said the pros you brought in did a nice job reworking your footers and pouring a good finished slab. I built my own three-story house almost completely by myself over the course of three years while working in the construction trades to earn a living . I did it because I wanted that pride and satisfaction that I knew I did it mostly by myself. It will be interesting to see your progress and I'll keep watching. Best of luck to you!

This is the first video I've seen of you guys doing this, and I've got to say it's pretty awesome what you're doing. I'm really impressed with your block laying job. Now, as for the footer mess up, I don't think you guys messed up. I think that the driver did. The reason I say that he should've seen that u guys weren't 100% ready and told u. Not only that, he could've offered some help. I drive mixer here in Ohio, and I've seen way worse footer forms, and they went way better than yours did. It's not the drivers job to help or offer advice, but I do this way stuff like that doesn't happen. I'm sure you guys had to pay for that second truck that day, and it didn't look like you even poured it. He definitely should've called and canceled it for you, but that's just what I would've done. Hope to see the finished product.

As a Texan that moved to Arkansas in 2016, welcome to the state! I originally moved to Cabot for work, but I quickly realized it was where I was going to settle down. Met my wife here, bought a 5 acre farm in Austin in 2019 and have never looked back! Good luck in 2022 and Happy New Year!

As Civil Engineer, foundation version 2 looked reasonable in non-earthquake country, except for slab vapor barrier. Others watching should know the plastic sheet was good, but lacked a vapor break of 3”-6” sand layer between native soil and plastic sheet. Should not be surprised if tiles detach and/or carpets mold in this house over next couple of decades.

Such a refresh to see a proper foundation and actual walls being built in the US 😎
This is much more like the “traditional” wall building I’ve seen in Europe unlike the wooden framed houses.
This should last a few generations ;)

Yeah, I live in Germany and when I see a Californian 500.000$ "cardboard house", I get the spooks.
How can anybody build walls with chipboard? This is the most trashy material I can think of. And if you want this stuff to be resistant to wetness you need to put so much chemical trash inside to seal it - I would be worried about my health constantly.

@@diekritischestimme Do you understand how earthquakes work??? California has some of the most stringent building codes in the world. Concrete cracks, wood flexes and can be rebuilt at less of a cost.
