It is so funny that you said it was like you were in the Twilight Zone because that was my first thought as you did this walk through; it is as if time completely stopped with the exception of the lone wasp dauber. You can tell this was a well-loved home so it is very sad that it was just left standing in it's perfection waiting for her owners to return. THANKFULLY, God has truly blessed you and the property for being united since you APPRECIATE the workmanship and care that was done and will honor it, I believe, by preserving what you can and updating what needs to be done. Anyway, you have found a diamond here and I can tell you know it. Good luck and I can't wait to see more!
P.S. Did this property have somebody doing maintenance for the past 10 years? There isn't an ounce of dust or spider webs even in the sheds so unless ya'll did the initial clean up before shooting this video they HAD to have someone, right? If not, that's getting a little on the creepy/unusual side LOL.

Good buy but I wouldn’t take down too many trees to the lake. Just take the ones down that are too close to the house. The view to the lake doesn’t have to be perfectly cleared. It’s nice to have trees as part of the landscape.

I can’t watch this channel, unfortunately, because of the cavalier attitude re cutting trees. It’s clear the original owners had a keen appreciation for the environment, and summered in NS because of the respect they had for the landscape. It must be heartbreaking for them to see someone drive in talking about the “logs” and all the trees they’re going to cut down.

Awesomely exciting find! I don't know the history of the owners, why they left, but what a privileged and abundant life they left behind. Days will fly by quickly in this life, then comes the day we step into life everlasting. Where will we spend eternity when we take our last breath, where will be the final journey of all journeys? Trust in Christ today, God loves you and sent His Son to make a way. Seek God with a contrite heart. Ask forgiveness for every sin past present and future. Accept Christ's finished work on the cross for your sin payment. Ask Christ to be your Lord and Savior. He is the Good Shepherd who gave His life for His sheep. He is the Lamb of God who shed His precious Blood for us. He is also our Passover Lamb. Loved this video! Dreamy boardwalk! Great earthly find, thanks so much for sharing!

Please consider this: Only take down the tree or two that are immediately threatening the house. Just for now, leave the rest of the trees that are lakeside. Removing too many trees lakeside will not add value to the property. If you want to really increase the value to the property, create stairs down to the lake, build a dock, and a small deck down there with a small shed that can house ropes for boats, fishing rods, swim toys, lounge chairs, etc., because you won’t want to bring that stuff down to the lake every time you want to use them; you’ll want them close by and handy. But leave the trees for now. Once you cut them down, you can’t put them back very easily. I’ve been on this Earth for 60 years and grew up on lake property in Minnesota, so I know a lot about what makes a lake property valuable.

Like having old structures (boathouse) right on the lakefront and grandfathered so no set backs or DNR? I too have been on this rock for the last 60 years and grew up on a lake in central Minnesota. Lol. I totally agree with you on limiting the tree removal in and around the yard. He should mill some of the logs that will be removed to facilitate the road improvements. Will help keep the material cost down for the deck repair project. I wonder how regulated they are on lakefronts in Nova Svotia.

This place is magical…it’s almost hard to fathom how much thought, imagination and energy that went into creating something like this out of a piece of raw land…literally a large chunk of someone’s lifetime. As a senior myself my impressions of this video may be a bit different from what a younger persons would be or even what my own impressions would have been when I was younger. Now I watch this and think of how short life is…and how we can work so hard to create something but none of us have forever to enjoy the fruits of our labors. I’m sure the couple feel sad to have to walk away from something they obviously put so much time and love into. However…they must be thrilled that someone so appreciative bought it and even someone who would share the results of their labor with a wide audience of appreciative viewers. I hope whoever buys it treasures the property as much as the original creators obviously did. Prayers for the sellers who sold this gift for the next owners to enjoy.

Isn't that so true? So much effort into a thing, and whether the next generation loves it or not can be completely heartbreaking or entirely justifying. I've found that my children dont always love all the projects and efforts I thought were worthwhile and deserving of effort ~ and as a grandma looking back, I have to say that I'm grateful I invested mostly in my children, the projects and hobbies aside. Yes, I put hours and hours into that quilt or that doll restoration, those baby clothes....but I put decades and decades into those children and grandchildren. All I can do is hope that they will enjoy the things I put the hours into, and love what I put decades into. Different perspectives when we're older....lol... I,too, am impressed that the original owners gave up this obvious work of a lifetime for someone else to love and make memories with. If the older couple had children, it's really quite sad that the children don't want it or can't afford it, but at least here now is a young man who may raise a family up on the property and will enjoy it. Sigh.....isnt that how it works, though? The next generation always stands on the backs of their forebears, to help them get a little further along the path. It's what we did, as well. 😔😊

But like a neighbor fixed up a house sold it for a big profit and the new owners are tearing the inside up and doing it how they want it. You have been blessed to receive this beautiful property, including all things necessary to manage and honor the former owners’ creation. The vision, skills and craftsmanship used to build this by the prior owner is unsurpassed - the water deck alone is priceless. Gosh Please don’t overwork the site- keep more trees than you think and please relocate the rocks (which he hand picked and placed!) instead of disregarding. It’s incredibly sad that this paradise created by a family from another country has slipped away from them. If I were you, I’d get in touch with them, find out everything about their life there, for example, how It evolved, like why the water deck, where they got the beautiful canoe, who they hosted while there - why they chose that property, bird interests, and most importantly, I would ask them if there are any belongings that they would like sent to them. I would also honor the property/retreat with their name, or something related to them, out of respect. You’ve received what is a legacy - please be thoughtful and gentle in your work there.

Sending love and prayers to you and the original family. I hope you plan to fix this up and keep it for yourself and your family! Better than winning a huge lottery. Definitely at age 77 my dream. Have nothing since going through stomach cancer and a broken hip all while taking care of my husband who had dementia and had to go into a facility where he passed away 9 months later in 2021. Everything we had is gone. Live with my daughter and her husband and have a bedroom, it’s own bath and closet. Everything else is in a storage unit. These people are probably going through the same 😢 & my heart goes out to them 💔

Thinking possibly an engineer or something. Nothing not done. Zero surprise the generator worked first try. Haven’t gotten half way through and can’t imagine what is else there . No expense spared.

I've seen a few videos of abandoned homes. Explomo even showed an abandoned TOWN. But THIS home was built with care, maintained with care, lived in with care. It's interesting to see what others have left behind, but I often wondered "What if someone BOUGHT this place or that place, and made something of it?" With this one, you have a pretty good idea what the original owner had planned, and it's great you got it with the idea of restoration.
