The Marine Corps fighter squadron that Will Smith's character belongs to is actually real. Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 314 (VMFA-314) is a United States Marine Corps F-35C Lightning II squadron (F/A-18 Hornets in the film). The squadron, known as the "Black Knights", is based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 11 (MAG-11) and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3d MAW), but deploys with the US Navy's Carrier Air Wing Nine (NG).

35:20 "How'd he know where to find her?"
He told her to pack some things and go to his base.
L.A. is a crater so if she were still there, she's definitely dead.
But if she did make it his base, she might have a chance, so he went to the spot he told her to be, and what luck, she survived and got there too.
No tracking device, no smelling her.
Just good old fashioned hope that she was able to survive and follow his directions.

That Presidential speech gets me every single time man! MAN that was powerful, making the 4th go from an American holiday to an international one & that whole "WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT.." part, omg.. Bill Pullman absolutely destroyed it!! I read somewhere he listened to & was inspired by several famous speeches throughout history. Among his favorites were Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, FDR's fireside chats during WWII & the Kennedy Bros' speeches (JFK's "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do for You.." speech & RFK's California Presidential primary victory speech from the Ambassador Hotel.)
Keep killing it girl, I absolutely love, love, love your channel so far & love these horror movies you been choosing to react to.. Some of them you dont see people react to as much as they should & for thise ones, I AM HERE for it, lol.
I thought of a good one you should react to sometime. Well, a few actually.. 1988's 'The Blob'--the best one made ever, btw, at least up to this point anyways, & 2003's Alexandre Aja-directed film, 'High Tension'.. One from Eli Roth's catalog would be 'Cabin Fever (2002)'. I think you would have an absolute FIELD DAY with ANY of these, chick.. Lol. Check some of them out sometime tho.. Oh, & KEEP UP the AMAZING WORK, new friend! ❤

Happy Fourth of July, Belle! 🥳🎉Independence Day was written and directed by the duo of Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, the same guys who wrote and directed 1994's Stargate. Independence Day was inspired by the disaster movies of the 1970s, like Earthquake, Meteor, The Poseidon Adventure, and The Towering Inferno, but it also "borrowed" a lot of elements from the TV miniseries 'V' (giant flying saucers appearing over every major city), movies like The War of the Worlds, Alien/Aliens, Star Wars, and the climax was directly lifted from the 1979 Battlestar Galactica episode, 'The Hand of God' (with a little bit of The Right Stuff thrown in).

@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions You're welcome! 😁Yeah, then I guess you figured out that Jeff Goldblum's character infecting the alien mother ship with a "computer virus" was a nod to The War of the Worlds, where Earth viruses and bacteria are what ultimately killed the Martians. The scene where the President used a nuclear weapon against the aliens that had no effect on their force fields was a also a reference to the 1953 George Pal 'The War of the Worlds' movie.

    7:15 "What is DEFCON 3?"
It's the government abbreviation for "defense readiness condition".
It measures how dangerous the world is and how much our military needs to be instantly ready to defend us.
DEFCON 5 is peace. Nobody is threatening us. Our military is sitting in their camps just doing normal training stuff.
DEFCON 1 is war. We are at war or almost certain we will be attacked very, very soon. Our military is on high alert and everybody is at their stations, standing guard, doing patrols, and expecting to be in battle instantly.
The other numbers range in between.
In the movie, they suggest DEFCON 3 which is right in middle. The military should be on high alert, personnel not on base will be called back to base immediately, but we're not taking any major actions yet.

    • @ernesthakey3396
      @ernesthakey3396 2 місяці тому +1

@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions Regarding Room 237, here's something one of the guys who worked on the movie had to say:
      -----
In a March 27, 2013 article in The New York Times, Leon Vitali, who served as personal assistant to Kubrick on the film, stated, "There are ideas espoused in the movie that I know to be total balderdash". For example, the documentary's theory concerning a poster of a skier is in fact referencing a minotaur, while the film's usage of a German typewriter, interpreted to be symbolic of the Holocaust, was chosen by Kubrick for pragmatic reasons. He concluded that "[Kubrick] didn't tell an audience what to think or how to think and if everyone came out thinking something differently that was fine with him. That said, I'm certain that he wouldn't have wanted to listen to about 70, or maybe 80 percent [of Room 237]... Because it's pure gibberish."
      -----
So that's a behind the scene glimpse that may put that movie in perspective. And Steven King, who wrote the original "The Shining Novel", had an interesting reaction to the "Room 237" movie:
      -----
In an October 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Stephen King (who has been vocal in his dislike for Kubrick's adaptation of his novel) said that he had seen the film and that he "watched about half of it and got impatient with it and turned it off". According to King, he "never had much patience for academic bullshit"; several of the interpretations of The Shining come from academics and professors. King felt the film makers and theorists were "reaching for things that weren't there".
      -----
It is an interesting work, but I wouldn't really call it definitive. :)
