The sequel is definitely not as good as the original. They made some pretty dumb decisions with it, but at the same time, I didn't hate it. The ending to the sequel is more realistic than the ending to this one, imo. Humans would not have won this encounter by any stretch of the imagination. Might as well have asked a group of cavemen to attack an Apache helicopter in flight.
Almost 30 years later, and the city destruction sequence remains the single most impressive and gorgeous display of monumental annihilation ever put to film.
Seeing this upon release in the theatre, my friends and I had the best shit in reply. The other's in the audience went silent after seeing that sequence for the first time. Today still has the same effect, well done the the crew and SFX dept.
@@davidareeves This was the only movie where I remember people applauding thrice. The 1st was when Boomer made that jump and the screen went black to show July 3, the 2nd was when Steve & David narrowly escaped the mother ship, and the 3rd was the "fireworks" at the end.
The Reason these movies seemed so epic in the 90's and even still today is there blend of practical effects and CGI it was literally mind blowing my Grandma went to go watch this in theaters 4 times because she said she had never seen anything like it in her life it gave her that feeling that little kids get going to Disneyland for the first time. The movie was originally filmed with Russell being rejected to fly in the attack on the alien ship because of his alcoholism, and he was heartbroken because it was his chance to redeem himself, and flying was the one thing he could actually do well. When all the fighters had expended their missiles, Russell showed up in his cropduster with a missile strapped to it already knowing that he would have to sacrifice himself by ramming his plane onto the aliens' main weapon to stop them. The scene (which, because it wasn't used in the final version of the film, doesn't have full special effects) is available on UA-cam if you want to see it. At a test screening, people couldn't help laughing at how ridiculous it looked when Russell's old biplane was keeping pace with the supersonic jet fighters that were "plowing the road" for him on his final attack, so they changed the story to what you see now. To me the biggest improvement from the change is the emotional scene when Russell looks at the photo of his children and resolves that he has to sacrifice himself for their sake.
Yeah, I was surprised when I saw that scene on the DVD, and very thankful that they changed it! It did make me realise why everyone seems so surprised when he turns up with the last missile, though, and why his cockpit is different to all the others and why his jet seems to be going slower than it should and manoeuvring in odd ways (apparently they simply assigned the F-18 to the exact same flightpath as the crop duster, as they didn’t have time to redo the shots completely). I think they did a really good job in rewriting it!
I think it was definitely more impactful. Also, when he's in the cropduster it just makes him look like a crazy man who's just stolen a missile and going on a suicide run. In the F/A-18 he's getting his own back on the aliens by fighting them, and then, when his missile jams, he makes that decision to sacrifice himself. Much more impactful.
24 years after this came out I went to see Bill Pullman at the Old Vic in London, alongside Sally Field in All My Sons. I saw him again last year, alongside David Harbour. He's a really good actor, immersing himself in his roles. But every so often you hear something in his voice and you want to leap to your feet and start the speech: "We will not go quietly into the night!" What a speech.
Bill Pullman’s president speech is one of the greatest speeches ever, it gives me goosebumps everytime. Also Happy Canada Day Jen from one fellow Canadian to another.
Makes no sense, right? Aliens right in front of them and they still don’t believe. My only issue, if this movie was based on reality, is how fast the spaceships go. If they go the speed they purportedly go, not one missile would hit them. We wouldn’t be able to react fast enough to shoot them down.

Pullman's speech was so cringy, all it missed was a screeching bald eagle flying across a blue and red striped sky with the clouds spelling the words God and Freedom!
I remember seeing this in the theater that weekend with my uncle Bob, a few people clapped after it and both of us looked at each other trying not to hold in our laughter at them. I love looking back on that memory with him.
I remember downloading maps for Duke Nukem 3D back in the 90s and people would make Area51 maps that had the lab room they show in this movie - everyone's concept and vision of Area51 came from this movie and they used that vision to put it into the video games of the day :)
Man, they don't make cheesy action flicks like this anymore! The main characters are all great (Judd Hirsch is a treasure). And that speech by Bill Pullman - so easy to go overly ham with that, but it was just perfect. Plus, "Suck it, weasel!" - yet another quotable Jen-ism! 😅
I loved him.when he starred in the 1970's TV series, Taxi. Other notable actors from that series was Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Marilu Henner and Tony Danza.
One of my favorite movie moments was seeing this in a packed theater on opening weekend. The date came up in the opening, and everyone went WHOA THAT'S TODAY. The tension in the theater went through the roof. 😂
As a composer myself, I love how you are always so responsive to the music! My new favorite Jen example at 41:17 - "Malfunction?! That music was perfect malfunction music!"
Jen is quickly becoming one of my favourite reactors out there. I don’t know if it’s her Canadian demeanour (Canuck here too) or her quirkiness? I think it’s just the energy and excitement she gives to each and every reaction video. It seems she’s NEVER bored. Thank you for what you do. You make us smile.
I love how the movie starts and one of the first things we hear is End Of The World - R.E.M. This was THE movie to see when it came out, incredible to see it in cinema. Plus Bill Pullman nailed that speech - goosebumps every time.
She maintains her believable enthusiasm for every movie and it helps the enjoyment. Someone with this much movie experience could easily drop into the seen-it-all-got-the-tshirt attitude. Or they try to fake it.
Bill Pullman's speech as the President is... it's such a trope, it feels like a given in a movie like this, it shouldn't be as good as it is, but goddamn does he knock it out of the park. The delivery, the music swelling, the stakes that have been raised so high up to this point... perfect. Funny detail, the little take he does where the speaker doesn't work at first wasn't scripted, it just kind of happened his first time stepping up to the mic and they kept it in the final edit.
It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects and became the blockbuster hit of 1996, making $817 million dollars ($1.6 billion dollars today) against a $75 million dollar budget.
Yes, and incredible CGI for its time. Watched it at the cinema as a teen when it came out - it was awesome. Especially the alien attack on the base by multiple small ships spring to mind :)
The final scene with Smith and Goldblum returning is an homage to a truly great film which you should consider watching: The Right Stuff (1984) is mostly a true though exaggerated story of the origins of the U.S. space program. It's a long epic, but the three hours watching it in a theater for the first time went by in a flash.
David Arnold, this film's composer, is truly amazing. It's well worth digging deeper into his other works. He did the original Stargate, several James Bond films, the 2010 BBC Sherlock series and an amazing score to the swashbuckling adventure film "The Musketeer". A very versatile composer, highly recommended!
I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out! I went with a friend of mine who was from Russia, and he almost fell out of his seat when he heard the 2 pilots speaking Russian.
Music by David Arnold. He did all the Bond films from Tomorrow Never Dies to Quantum of Solace. He also did 1994’s Stargate, another Roland Emmerich. This was almost a sequel to Stargate, but that got changed during production. Might be worth adding to the list…
@@jenmurrayxo I think you'd get a kick out of Stargate. Then there's the rabbithole of 10 seasons of SG-1, 5 seasons of Atlants and 2 seasons of Universe :)
Happy Canada Day Jen, from one Commonwealth member (South African currently living in Kenya) to another. Thanks for all your reactions. I have always enjoyed this movie. Saw it when it first came out.
One of my favorite little bits was as they were escaping the mothership, Jeff Goldblum repeated a line he had in Jurassic Park. "Must go faster, must go faster!" lol.
Which one? The Denis Villeneuve bit of awesomeness from a few years ago or the Charlie Sheen-starring one from around the time "Independence Day" came out? Both are awesome in very different ways. 😄
The one-two punch of MIB and this movie really launched Will Smith's career into the stratosphere. Then he made Wild, Wild, West. 🤣 🤣 (His career did survive that misstep though)
More like one-two-three punch. Bad Boys in 1995. While that was in theaters, he started on ID4 and after that, he wrapped up the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
I remember when this came out, I managed to go in completely blind (aside from the poster) and loved it. Even today, I think it holds up well as a summer crowd-pleaser. From the spaceships first appearing, to the one-liners and set-pieces, this hits all the right notes (as cheesy as it is).
It really has aged pretty well, with perhaps just bloody mobile phones being the major obvious dating factor. Oh and cable tv... Does anyone still have cable?
With our tendencies to go to war against ourselves, I wouldn't be surprised if the only Aliens that came and were willing to make themselves known to us would be looking for a fight. Fun film!
Finding a common enemy is a favorite and effective strategy in history. What we need today is a good ol fashion space ET invasion. The HFY genre has alot of this.
Yes Jen! This one is epic! You might like Volcano from 1996 and Dante's Peak from 1997 for good 90s flicks (I think you've done Speed if not mistaken!) :)
I watched this in the theatres and the explosions were EPIC!!!! Turning the Empire State Building to pebbles in one shot. This movie felt like Armageddon, just fighting an enemy and not a natural disaster. My low key MVP was dad Julius Levenson ( Judd Hirsch ) I have yet to see ID2 but will wait to see if you react to it. Great job as always Jen, you're the bestest.
Independence Day is an absolute masterpiece! It has everything! It has action, laughs, emotion, tension, heart wrenchingly sad moments...and that speech!!!! All this combined with a great script, an amazing cast, that score and phenomenal special effects! Utterly Majestic!
I've seen this film dozens of times. One thing that never ever fails to crack me up is President Whitmore while staring at dead and dismembered aliens asks: "Can they be killed?". No, they function perfectly well blown in half while floating in formaldehyde.
1st off great reaction as always 2nd this is one of those movies that you needed to see in theaters to get the full impact, I did & it was the loudest I’ve ever heard an audience cheer since Return of the Jedi & haven’t heard anything remotely close since.
This really nailed the "Event Movie" at the time and felt like it had it all. Great cast, solid humor, chemistry between Smith and Goldblum but lots of moments before they meet, and great scale for the invasion. In some kind of marketing magic, they got everyone onboard with "ID4" where you'd just see that everywhere and everyone knew what it meant. Looks like you had a ton of fun with this one! We were all enthralled by "the speech" too and i remember my theater clapped at the end of it!
The special effects were unbelievable! It keeps you on the edge of your seat right to the very end! The acting and the storyline was just flawless. This is a great movie to spend with friends and family on what else? Independence day!
A lot of that came down to the fact that CGI was used only sparingly. The explosions, for example, were all done using miniatures and practical effects, which is why they seemed so realistic - they were real pyrotechnics.
I saw this epic film on July 2, 1996, the day that it premiered in the theaters. It was incredible! One of the best experiences I've ever had at the movie theaters. Perfect film to watch for the American holiday. Great reaction! 👍🏿
Independence Day was one of the first movies I became really obsessed with as a kid, couldn't stop talking about it, put up posters, etc It's cheese and some of the effects did not age that well but it still holds up quite well even now!
We rarely ever went to the movies. When my mother was healthy and still alive she took us to see this in kings plaza mall. It absolutely blew me away. One of the greatest movie experiences of my life.
I went to the premiere of this movie, with the stars of the movie and red carpet. I was fortunate to win the tickets from a radio station. It was terrific seeing it in theater with the stars (of course, their whole area was roped off from us regular people). But as fun as that experience was, the only thing that could have made it better was Jen's "Suck it, Weasel!".
Great reaction Jen. One of the greatest summer blockbusters. I knew you'd get into it An older alien invasion movie you will like is The Day the Earth Stood Still.
It's no coincidence that you also kept praising the score of Tomorrow Never Dies b/c David Arnold was the composer for both movies. Hence I highly recommend reacting to Stargate (1994), which was made by the same filmmakers as this, including another great score by Arnold.
Watching Independence Day right before the day in question, perfect timing. A classic 90's action romp, and proof that the Fresh Prince could headline his own movie.
- A perfect beer & popcorn movie - The quintessential ‘90’s movie - The very 1st to actually pay (at least tertiary) homage that such an invasion would be of a global nature
I watched this at the premiere in the theatre... with about 10 friends... all of us dressed up as aliens. It was frigging awesome! I ended up sitting beside some old dude who for real believed in aliens.
Funnily enough, I actually just watched it myself not that long ago. Defintely one of my favorite movies that I've seen in recent years. (I watched it for the first time last 4th of July.) Thomas' speech is one of, if not, the best part of the movie. "Should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, we will not go quitely into rhe night. We will not vanish without a fight. Today, we celebrate our independence day."
I was lucky enough to watch this in the theater on its opening weekend, and watched it countless times on VHS. Had a couple of the alien toy figures (and the floppy disk games that came with them!) as well. Having the movie take place on the same date as its opening was such a simple, but brilliant move. The story is pretty cheesy, but the actors make it so watchable. As much as I love Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith (and yes, this and Men In Black are peak Will Smith), I was most hyped to see Dr. Okun. He was played by Brent Spiner, who played Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Speaking of which, you should try giving the older Star Trek movies a chance. Wrath of Khan is an excellent place to start... All that aside, the visuals were absolutely mind-blowing. Once you saw the White House get destroyed in the teaser trailer, you _had_ to watch the movie. Looking back, it's arguably _the_ definitive 90s summer blockbuster.
Jen! You didn't seem to have a recognition of the computer's greeting to David, "Good morning, Dave." Did you recognize the graphic? In case you didn't (and this will not spoil the movie it's from), it was an homage to "2001: A Space Odyssey." The graphic was the "eye" of the AI computer, HAL.
Mark 30:56. She's "Stands With A Fist" in the movie "Dances With Wolves" and "President Rossalin" in the most recent version of "Battle Galactica"! 😊 (I used an Exclamation Point because the stupid software wants the Period within the Quotation Marks!)
If you're in the mood for more sci-fi I'd highly recommend "Oblivion" starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. I know how you love a good film score and the music in this by M83 is fantastic. By the way it's written and directed by Joseph Kosinski, the director of "Top Gun : Maverick".
The same composer did the same film score for “Stargate” which was made by the same director and writer in 1994. That film is what gave them the green light to make Independence Day. You will hear the same similarities in both film scores. That guy is one of my favorite all time film composers and the two soundtracks i listen to still today.
Must go faster! Must go faster! To see Jen's awesome reaction to this spectacular, popcorny send up of 1970's star-studded disaster flicks. Don't forget to put some of those Velveeta cheese filled titles on your list!
I love love love how you mentioned the music several times because it is just that EPIC!! And the President's speech makes you ready to go fight aliens. I remember I saw this in theaters the year it came out and DAAAMN those SFX are pretty awesome on the big screen. Great movie!
Will Smith released this between Bad Boys and Men In Black. Other films by director Roland Emmerich include Universal Soldier and Stargate. The sci-fi satire Mars Attacks! released the same year as this. Another alien invasion movie worth watching is Battle: Los Angeles
I got special tickets to the premiere of this, and this was the only movie I've ever spoken up during. When the air force does their first strike against the aliens after the alien attack, as the fighters are all coming out of the ship to attack, I very audibly said, "Oh, bad word" at that point. And don't bother with the sequel, unless you want to be as disappointed as I was.
If you're into that kind of thing, the "making of..." documentaries are really good. Also, there is a deleted scene that explains how Goldblum's character is able to write a virus for an alien computer system -- Earth computer systems came from stolen tech from the Roswell crash.
Mark 41:11. Aha! You're seeing the version with him in a fighter not a cropduster! In the novel he uses his cropduster. In the novel they had to use every surviving flyable aircraft. The unarmed ones were decoys and kamikaze aircraft.
Definitely a great summer blockbuster! I saw this one opening day at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara. It is one of the old timey big theaters with ornate walls and balconies. It was a big event back then. I'd like to see your reaction to the sequel because you would have fresh eyes having just seen the original. It might hold more impact.
I love how you, out of all the great things this film has from cinematography to the screenplay, appreciated the musical scoring because that is what I exactly loved the most about this movie! ❤ The melody and fitting for each scene of the soundtrack just had this inexplicable 'beauty' to it for my ears. 🎶 Also, I watched every second of this reaction of yours from beginning to end and I loved it-that is why I liked this video and subscribed to your channel! This is a movie that has a very special place in my heart because it was the first film I saw in theaters after graduating from Basic Training for the Navy in June of 96. 27 years ago now; I was 25. And I have to agree about the music; the score composed by David Arnold for this film is so amazing.
Bill Pullman's son plays another accomplished pilot in another movie. You'd know him as Bob in Top Gun Maverick. It's also amazing how much of practical effects were used for the ships and the city destruction scenes.
Code: friggin alien invasion! should be standard protocol. I LOVE YOUR LOVE OF MUSIC. I think you and Judd Hirsch should have a grampa wheeze battle! Practical effects keep this movie timeless. The few cgi ones rip you right out lol. "Were going to area 51! Shut the F up!" Love the passion! "Is he telepathying him?" made my day! "Suck it, weasel!" also made my day. BEST SPEECH EVER. "That music was perfect malfunction music!"
I accidentally sent this! You watched one of my favorite movies! All of those were my thoughts while watching. Once again Jen, you have proven to be the best! So entertaining and honest, I really look forward to everything you do!A+++++
I like how you noticed Judd Hirsch's performance as the dad. He really roped in the different personalities together, besides playing a cute loving dad (when isn't a dad's caring love cute?). He made his son confront the issues he had with the President and his ex? wife (just estranged or actually divorced?). He tamped down the squawking by the weaselly Secretary of Defense. He tried to comfort everyone during the oncoming attack, while leading the prayer group. Great call on including him for the "LOW KEY MVP".
Your energy is the best. You get so into these movies, it makes your channel one of my favorites to watch. 42:02 So hard to take stuff seriously when I see Jayne Cobb 😂 Can't wait to see what you watch next Jen!
Regarding the President flying into combat: I originally saw the movie in a completely crowded theater, sitting next to a total stranger. When he said that he was going to fly, I turned to her and said, “If he survives this, he’s a shoo-in for reelection.”
This movie serves up several generous helpings of cheese, but is enjoyable (occasionally even inspirational) nonetheless. The presidential rah rah speech is still great every time I hear it. Goldblum & Smith make a good pairing and your reaction/commentary were very enjoyable. Great job, Jen.

Yeah, during these crazy times in america,we need the big-CHEESE !!! LOL. Also action.
@@ChuckBeachNut No its just stupid. Fun movies are politically incorrect in Hollywood and if you disagree, then,...WAYCIST!
I'm not even American and that speech gets me hyped.
I rather enjoyed”SPACE NUUUKE!” As well.
Ikr.
The story and the marketing were perfect.
"Is he telepathying him?" So funny!!! Love it!!!!
"Suck it weasel!" Jen your reactions never disappoint.
😂😂👍
As a composer myself, I love how you are always so responsive to the music! My new favorite Jen example at 41:17 - "Malfunction?! That music was perfect malfunction music!"
That was probably the greatest time I had watching Independence Day since 1996. Thanks for sharing, you are awesome!
Thanks this one was so much fun!! 🔥
Thanks! Love having fun watching movies with you guys :)
Or they try to fake it.
hard to fake it with a movie this awesome lol
Suspension of disbelievable belief.
Reactions are all about the reactor's personality. I'll re-watch reactions from the best, including Jen, just to focus on the reactor.
This surpassed E.T. : The Extraterrestrial as the second highest grossing film of all time until the release of Titanic
Wow,those numbers are-HUGE. LOL. $ 817 million is nothing to sneeze at,but,in 1996 that total was amazing.
@@15blackshirt WHAT.I didn't know that !!! LOL. I didn't watch Titanic at the cinema.
@@fastertove It's mostly practical effects (miniatures) not CGI. Only composited digitally.
“Is mommy sleeping now?” 🥺 Gets me every time.
I thought the ID4 score sounded familiar to Stargate in several places 👍
So that's why I've always liked stargate theme, it reminds me of Independence Day 😂❤ idk which came first but I saw Independence Day first
He did the score for "Tomorrow Never Dies" & "Hot Fuzz" as well. So underrated.
"He's telepathying the President!"
Oh you crack me up. 😂
Stargate is on the next Patreon poll 👍👍
@@jenmurrayxo I think you'd get a kick out of Stargate. Then there's the rabbithole of 10 seasons of SG-1, 5 seasons of Atlants and 2 seasons of Universe :)
Happy Canada Day Jen, from one Commonwealth member (South African currently living in Kenya) to another. Thanks for all your reactions. I have always enjoyed this movie. Saw it when it first came out.
There's a Canada day ? ..had no idea . Im a brit so apologies 😢
One of my favorite little bits was as they were escaping the mothership, Jeff Goldblum repeated a line he had in Jurassic Park. "Must go faster, must go faster!" lol.
That part always makes me laugh. Idk if it was an intended call back or not but it's great
ahh thankyouverymuch
Jen's character arc from shy to charismatic has been the making of this channel.. ❤
*blush* Thanks! ☺️👍
@@jenmurrayxo shush , you're awesome now you've relaxed into the role...1 of my top 3 creators... not saying which order 😎👌
There was a shy? She's been charismatic since forever.
If you haven't seen the movie "Arrival", you are missing out Jen. Its top 5 greatest movies of all time in my opinion. Add it to the list!
Which one? The Denis Villeneuve bit of awesomeness from a few years ago or the Charlie Sheen-starring one from around the time "Independence Day" came out? Both are awesome in very different ways. 😄
@@karlmortoniv2951 well, I think you are well aware of which one I'm referring to but just in case, it's not got Charlie Sheen in it.
Fun film!
See? Will Smith has been slapping folks for years!
Volcano has Tommy Lee Jones and Dante's Peak has Brosnan. 2 solid recs for Jen's tastes 👍
Thanks Derek! ☺️👍
Independence Day is an absolute masterpiece! It has everything! It has action, laughs, emotion, tension, heart wrenchingly sad moments...and that speech!!!!
All this combined with a great script, an amazing cast, that score and phenomenal special effects! Utterly Majestic!
Jen, given your affinity for explosions I am especially glad to be subscribed to your reactions during this one.
The same guys that made this made another alien movie a few years earlier called Stargate. It's basically Ancient Aliens the movie. Very enjoyable.
I've seen this film dozens of times. One thing that never ever fails to crack me up is President Whitmore while staring at dead and dismembered aliens asks: "Can they be killed?". No, they function perfectly well blown in half while floating in formaldehyde.
This is one of those dumb-as-a-barrel-of-rocks movies that you just can't help loving from beginning to end. So much fun!
More accurate than the boring 2001: Space Odyssey movie.
It's not dumb, it's a great movie.
Independence Day is wonderful. Love the music too. The sequel - don't waste your time.
1st off great reaction as always
2nd this is one of those movies that you needed to see in theaters to get the full impact, I did & it was the loudest I’ve ever heard an audience cheer since Return of the Jedi & haven’t heard anything remotely close since.
Raspberry. There's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry: LONE STAR!!!
... wait, wrong movie...
"Oh, that was perfect malfunction music!"
I've always thought that too. 😀
David Arnold's score is one of the best of the 90s. Classic at this point.
Independence Day was one of the first movies I became really obsessed with as a kid, couldn't stop talking about it, put up posters, etc
It's cheese and some of the effects did not age that well but it still holds up quite well even now!
I am so happy when someone appreciates David Arnold's music for this film.
We rarely ever went to the movies. When my mother was healthy and still alive she took us to see this in kings plaza mall. It absolutely blew me away. One of the greatest movie experiences of my life.
The amount of idle time spent, as an 11 year old kid, watching this film 🎞️ 🔁 😅 dang
I knew you'd get into it
An older alien invasion movie you will like is The Day the Earth Stood Still.
I liked the 1950's version of The Day The Earth Stod Still, not the 1980's version.
@@stevemoliterno9795 Agreed. I forgot the later one even existed. The 50s one is probably the greatest sci-fi movie of the decade.
Same plot as ID but different approach is Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks!
Footage of the original played on a tv in the movie.
I caught that on the first time I saw ID4.
Reaction lol More like a commentary. She's even more nostalgic than we are. Can't believe people fall for this.
- A perfect beer & popcorn movie
- The quintessential ‘90’s movie
- The very 1st to actually pay (at least tertiary) homage that such an invasion would be of a global nature
It doesn't matter what Hollywood does.. This will always be my fave movie😂💕
I watched this at the premiere in the theatre... with about 10 friends... all of us dressed up as aliens. It was frigging awesome! I ended up sitting beside some old dude who for real believed in aliens.
This is exactly what I'm in the mood to see today - thank you! :D
Funnily enough, I actually just watched it myself not that long ago. Defintely one of my favorite movies that I've seen in recent years. (I watched it for the first time last 4th of July.)
Thomas' speech is one of, if not, the best part of the movie.
"Should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, we will not go quitely into rhe night. We will not vanish without a fight. Today, we celebrate our independence day."
Independence Day was a summer 96 blockbuster, great in drive in theaters and any theater that had the proper sound system to do the score justice!
30:26 "Now kiss!"
I love it when yo do that, Jen! It's so sweet.😄
And Happy Canada Day!!
Star Trek: The Motion Picture has a wormhole in it, so it’s perfect for Jen!
I saw Independence Day in the theaters as a kid. Everyone was clapping and cheering during the speech and the ending!
(I used an Exclamation Point because the stupid software wants the Period within the Quotation Marks!)
Turning 35 this 4th. This is my birthday tradition movie. Ever since it came out in 96, I have watched it.
Welcome to Earth!
"Fire at will!" "Nooooo! Will is a main character!" "Do you take this woman?" "I Will."
This movie is my guilty pleasure along with some other pictures of Roland Emmerich. I know all the flaws, but i love them anyway
"Good morning Dave" is what the HAL computer says in 2001, A Space Odyssey
There are some very cool Behind-The-Scenes videos that show how they filmed the cities getting destroyed.
They're all on UA-cam.
If you're into that kind of thing, the "making of..." documentaries are really good. Also, there is a deleted scene that explains how Goldblum's character is able to write a virus for an alien computer system -- Earth computer systems came from stolen tech from the Roswell crash.
Independence day is one of those films you can always watch even if you have seen it endless times!
"We're locked on!" It's a stationary target three-miles across! If you miss it, you're fired!
Fired from a cannon... into the moon. 😆
I remember seeing this in theaters and everyone screaming and then laughing when the alien face burst open. 😂👽🛸
Mark 41:11.
Also, I watched every second of this reaction of yours from beginning to end and I loved it-that is why I liked this video and subscribed to your channel! This is my most favorite film of all-time and I am glad you liked it, too. 👏🏼
You were awesome and Iʼll be watching your other videos and future uploads from now on. 🎉
Thank you for this! God bless you!
One of my fave movies - and one of the best 'rouse the troups' speeches in movies. The OST is fab too, just everything about it :) Glad you enjoyed!
This is a movie that has a very special place in my heart because it was the first film I saw in theaters after graduating from Basic Training for the Navy in June of 96. 27 years ago now; I was 25. And I have to agree about the music; the score composed by David Arnold for this film is so amazing.
I loved your enthusiasm during this movie, subbed. :)
So entertaining and honest, I really look forward to everything you do!A+++++
😂😂👍 Thanks T!
42:02 So hard to take stuff seriously when I see Jayne Cobb 😂
Can't wait to see what you watch next Jen!
Thanks!! ☺️👍
Regarding the President flying into combat: I originally saw the movie in a completely crowded theater, sitting next to a total stranger. When he said that he was going to fly, I turned to her and said, “If he survives this, he’s a shoo-in for reelection.”
I said that in the full length reaction too!
Independence Day is wonderful. I love the music too. I still have the soundtrack on CD. Don't bother with the sequel.
"All you need is love"- John Lennon- Smart man. Shot in the back, very sad. Such a dark and underrated comedy line.
