I have used "I aim to misbehave" in real life. Another of my favorites that I haven't got to use yet is "Well, what you plan and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar."
I have come to enjoy watching people find this show, fall in love with the characters, and then watch them lose a piece of their soul just as I did in the theater in 2005.
Laughing at Kaylee's declaration of intent to live, so soon after Wash died, felt SO wrong. But it was exactly the tension breaker we needed! I saw this on opening night, in Austin, Texas. The theater was PACKED. When Derial Book died, the crowd was nearly silent, with just a few muffled sobs audible. When Hoban Washburne died, the crowd howled in outrage. Several folks walked out.
Two things I like to point out in this movie. 1. Mal's first and last words in the movie are the same. "What was that?" after a piece flies off the ship. 2. If you look at 55:53 again, you notice how Nathan Fillion is looking right into the camera when he says this? "Love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down." That was a direct message to the fans that this movie only exists because of the incredible level of love and dedication from the fans. The fact that a show with poor ratings, sent out to die by its own network, still managed to capture the hearts of so many people that they were able to fund the movie, is nothing short of incredible. Welcome to the Browncoats.
"...Let's you know she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home." Regarding getting the movie made. "We've done the Impossible and that makes us Mighty."

A lot of reactors cry to this movie. Nothing to be sorry for, and personally I see it as something positive. Not that I want people to be sad, but charm and emotions are what draws me to reactors. Showing emotions is a good thing. ❤
So many people pass on this gem of a series and film because " urgh, sci fi,not my thing" , but to those who took the chance, got hooked, felt the feels, and will always be brown coats, stay shiny .

@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions HA! When the show was canceled, we were still waiting on episodes 11-13! Fox never aired those at all, and we didn't see them until they came out on DVD a year later! The show's scheduling was bonkers. They aired episodes 2, 3, and 6; took a week off; then episodes 7, 8, 4, 5, and 9; took two weeks off; then episodes 10, 14, and 1.
The Operative is a fascinating villain. And Jayne finally decided to do something right since doing something smart was never an option for him (Shepherd Book was really the closest thing he had to a friend among the crew)
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
Not all episodes were aired. And Fox aired them out of order. The first episode Joss wrote was played second. Fox forced them to play the train heist episode first, because… everybody loves train heists? If you play the BTS interviews, they were on episode 10 or 11, when they were told it had been cancelled. So the whole cast and crew got the word that they were getting fired, then they immediately had to film the scene where they delivered their friend’s corpse to his mother. So the funeral aspect and grief you see… they really were partway through coming to terms with the finality of death. And I think there were two or three episodes that never got aired, but which made it to the DVDs. Part of why this is a movie is that Fox owned the broadcast rights for a serialized show. And Joss got the fans to push for this, but Fox would never give him the rights, or even sell them to him. But they didn’t own the movie rights. So he took all the fan support to the movie folks, got his hands on sci-fi movie cash. Neither the show nor the movie did BADLY. But they didn’t do well enough to cover the big budget that sci-fi CGI requires. The show had a single ship built on the film set. So he a lot of filming that would all be one take, following characters from room to room. Nobody else had done that, but when the show ended, to had to disassemble the whole thing. Then the movie kicked off, and they had to build a new ship. So we could get the crew’s opening scene… starts with Wash and Malcolm on the bridge, follows Malcolm to the hallway to talk to Jayne about the grenade, Zoe walks past, Kaylee says HI, here’s Simon saying this isn’t fear, this is anger… they both go to the medical room… etc. After this, Fillion was the MC for a police procedural show, called Castle. On the Halloween episode of that show’s first season, his character dressed as a “Space Cowboy”… in fact all of the recurring cast dressed as characters those actors had played on other shows. On the show, the actor who plays Kaylee was instructed to put on weight. So Kaylee wouldn’t look like a stereotypical “boss bitch”, since she was naive and didn’t do the fighty stuff. That was her first real role, and she didn’t want to rock the boat. Show ended, she lost the extra weight. By the time they filmed the movie, she just said that they had to hire her face, and she didn’t want to gain weight, and then lose it again after. It’s a pretty strong negotiating position.
There are several graphic novels, and books that give back stories and future stories. Well worth reading. No need to forgive your tears. We've all shed them.

The series was perhaps one of the best in the history of modern filmography,. I've yet to see anything better. Battlestar Galactica is the nearest series. All the best to you and yours. Cheers.
The close-up shot of the Reaver fighting River was a cameo of Neil Patrick Harris from the TV series Doogie Howser MD, How I Met Your Mother, and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (which can be found on UA-cam). The 2 actors who played Wash and Book couldn't commit to future movies which is why they died. The movie wasn't intended to wrap things up. It was intended to be the start of a movie franchise to continue the story. The Alliance Agent was originally meant to be played by Early from Objects in Space but was unavailable.
@@sirmoonslosthismind According to Joss Whedon, Early survives the episode[1]; he was evidently considered as the antagonist for the film Serenity, The Operative being used instead when Brooks was not available. - From The Firefly and Serenity Database
@@ThePharaz early certainly survived, but the operative has an entirely different personality and motivation. you shouldn't put so much faith in unsourced, broken english on a random web page.
Joss Whedon was part of the whole “Han shot first” debate. When Mal shoots the Agent, as soon as the agent said he was unarmed. I feel like this is Joss showing the world how to handle monologues. The next time they talk, it’s done via broadwave, so the Agent can get all up in Mal’s feelings, and Mal hangs up the call anyway.
No need for forgiveness Darlin, we were all there with you. We all were devastated at those moments. Tears and snot running out of our faces. Sadness and rage and grief over losing people that felt like family in the short time we knew them. All those emotions and feelings and reactions just show how human we are.

It is a might concerning to me how I consume this film. Everybody who does a reaction, they’ve always watched the show first. And then during the big fight, Book and Wash are dead, then everybody gets smashed one by one… we’re not sure if it’s fatal, but after two of the main characters are dead, we’re not sure what to expect. As said in other comments here, we can’t see this for the first time, but we can sit here and vicariously live through you seeing it for the first time. It’s a pale ghost of the real first time. Every time we shoot up a new hit of Serenity after the first time, it feels… not quite as good.

"Eta Kooram Nah Smech!" - I hope my lengthy post doesn't put anyone to sleep. -- Thank you for sharing your Firefly / Serenity journey with us! After "Serenity" - There are still more things to watch: "The River Tam Sessions", blooper reels, additional scenes, & reunion footage. Nice added scene touches: -- I loved the scene with Inara greeting the Operative. Take careful notice of her face during that scene. Her expression begins as a welcoming warm face for a potential new client. Because of her companion training, Inara is very quick to pick up his body language. She instantly reads "This man is trouble" and her facial expression changes from warmth to fear. -- During the "I aim to misbehave" scene, Jayne takes a drink and passes his bottle to Simon. This is Jayne's way of finally accepting Simon as part of the crew. Joss Whedon had a 5 season (22 - 24 episodes per season) contract planned out for "Firefly" with 3 major story arcs. When the series was canceled, he got a second chance due to fan demand. The movie "Serenity" is a soft reboot that tells story arc 1 of 3. If "Serenity" did well enough in the box office, we could have gotten a movie trilogy for story arc 2 & 3. "Serenity" has some possible continuity issues with the "Firefly" series because it had to pull double duty of introducing the story to newcomers while still trying to satisfy "Firefly" fans. Why did Book & Wash die? Because the actors had other contracts to fulfil and would not have been able to be in Serenity 2 & 3. They were not slated to die if Firefly had its 5 seasons. To fill in all the unanswered questions of Firefly / Serenity, You will want the FIREFLY Legacy Deluxe Edition Graphic Novel (1 of 4 deluxe editions currently): -- This is getting harder to find. It might be out of print which means finding individual comics, or the regular graphic novels. Many unanswered series questions are answered here -- 2 by 2 hands of blue -- Shepherd Book's backstory -- Shepherd leaving Serenity story -- much more on the rest of the crew. The events & backstory specifically surrounding Inara between "Objects in Space" & the movie "Serenity" and in Firefly (Book 5 of 8 currently) - "Life Signs". Here we get the answer to why Inara left her promising career to adventure on a Firefly, and why she halted her romance with Mal by leaving Serenity. It also gives more depth behind the end of movie "Serenity" when she tells Mal she wants to stay. This is a green light for Mal and her to finally pursue a romantic relationship.
Thank you so much for watching and thank you so much for all of the insights. I always enjoy reading the little tidbits of information. People throw my way. I am proud to be one of y’all now.
I’m not 100% behind your statement that the two characters were killed off because of actor plans. I agree that that decision to kill them was because of the actors. But vis-a- vis the story… their deaths did help the story. Especially around the fight in the hallway at the end. We know that Book is really dead, then Wash gets speared… and then we go into that battle. Most of us assume the MCs are immortal, wearing the best Plot Armor. But now we’ve just seen two characters get killed. He’s killing off characters, and he could do it again. Zoe gets slashed down her spine. Kaylee gets shot by the darts. Simon gets gutshot. We honestly don’t know anything… do the above three die also? If you can subvert the audience’s expectations, the show is going to grab people by the souls. The climactic tension is much higher. Much like Rogue One, actually. Or the moment Ned Stark gets jacked up in GoT. We aren’t feeling the characters tension, we ourselves are in an ocean of tension. Tl,dr - the actors schedules allowed the characters deaths to be used against us
@@goatkiller666 It is a fact they had other projects pending and could not commit. This information was stated in Firefly reunions.& conventions. Yes, it added to the story, but that is because Whedon knowns how to use real life situations to his story telling advantage.
A really nice detail. When Mal shoots at the Operative at end, and you say, “shoot him in the head,” Mal IS shooting at his head. The Operative is using his full body armour on his arm to stop the shots hitting his head.
I'm so glad you reacted to Firefly & Serenity, it's one of my absolute favorites and helped me find your channel. In case you didn't recognize him, the reaver that River punches in the face in close-up is Neil Patrick Harris, who is also in the film, "Starship Troopers." He is also the title supervillain in "Doctor Horrible's Sing-along Blog," along with hero Nathan Fillian and directed by Joss Whedon.
For what it is worth, there were a series of graphic novels that pick up after Serenity, and there is a little boy with curly red hair running about on a certain Firefly class transport ship with his momma.
I saw the movie before I ever saw the series. It was about midway through the movie that I knew that I had to find the series and watch it, and once I did, I fell in love with it. I know exactly when it was in the movie that did it too. "If I start fighting a war, I guarantee you'll see something new."
I think pretty much everyone went through these emotions. Happiness that this show exists. Sadness that there is so little of it and anger that it was cancelled and never picked up again. But in the end it's a really good show and worth a rewatch every now and then.

No need to apologise, you had the right response. The first time I watched Serenity, I hadn't seen the series, so I didn't get the full effect. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I found the DVD box set on special and decided to buy it. It was so good, I was hooked from the first episode. Of course, I went and bought the movie the first chance I got after that. It had been long enough that I'd completely forgotten what happened in Serenity, so I kind-of got to watch it again for the first time, and I did get the full gut punch that time. And yes, I had basically the same response as you, a lot of crying. To me it's about Mal finding something to believe in, and learning to put his love and trust in his crew and ship. At the beginning, he was lost at sea, rudderless, going where the wind blows him. Shepherd Book was right, he needed something to believe in, a mission, and he sure got it. He put his trust in his crew and Serenity to get him through the mission, and they did, although sadly, not all made it through with him. Book and Wash may be gone, but it healed River, and brought Simon and Kaylee together, and hopefully Mal and Inara too. Anyway, I'm glad you made it through too, albeit a little scarred from the experience. But we're all in the same boat, so I hope you consider yourself welcomed to the ranks of the Browncoats.

59:30 "I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil." Gandalf The depth of emotion you feel for these characters is a testament to how well they were written/acted and how endeared they became to you/us in the short while we had with them. If you cannot leave them behind, there are novels and comic books that continue their stories. “A Sheppard’s Tale” graphic novel will explain Book’s backstory and is the choice if you only look at one of these post-Serenity projects. Thank you for letting us go back to the Firefly ‘verse with you.

The extreme fan base made this movie possible. Like the TV series the writing was rushed a little, it was supposed to appease the fans but also to set up the characters who had never seen the TV series. The production company had so many "pre-screenings" around different cities and states that was attended by the fans that by the time it was widely released attendance faltered. It has always been my opinion that the reason you see River barefoot in several scenes is so she can tune into her psychic abilities better, although it could also be that Summer just didn't like wearing shoes/boots. Summer Glau was a classically trained Ballet dancer and was schooled in other dance styles as well. Her dancing career ended when she broke one of her toes and set her sights on acting.

"Y'all were watchin' I take it." "Yes." "Did you see us fight?" "No." "TRAP." Zoe wore a "Slinky Dress" at the end. (Reference to Shindig) "Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keens. Makes her a home." Welcome to the Browncoats Darlin'. You've had the laughs, You've seen the frights, and you've felt the pain. You have but one task left. Spread the word of Firefly to others. You don't have to show them watching it. Just spread the word. And, I recommend you watching it with them to help them along in their Journey. BUT, don't spoil it for them.
They said several times where miranda was and it was beyond reaver space.and chloe even said "do you intend to desecrate our home to get thru readers space?"
The moment when Mal rummages in that toolbox and comes up with a little screwdriver and the Operative draws his sword is a perfect example of a basic theme from the entire show. In the very first episode, getting ready for their confrontation with Patience: Zoe: "I don't like this. The old woman still has the advantage over us." Mal: "Everyone always does. Thats what makes us special."
Just a potty mouth, southern girl but due to UA-cam standards we had to cut down some potty mouth and but yeah, I’m pretty rugged. I’m a tomboy kind of gal. I can out drink you & give you hell the whole time.
Once again it is another tearful ending to the Firefly saga. I've said recently that I also go thru the tearful times every time I hit the emotional times in this and other series. It also brings about more tears when I am sharing the time with another reactor. Thank you. As for Book and Washs deaths, Joss Whedon had to do it. He planned on this movie being the first of a trilogy just like the Star War Movies. But the actors who played Book and Wash could only commit to the first movie so Joss had to kill them in order to explain why they were not in the 2nd and 3rd movies, which never got made. One more thing, in this movie Zoe just recently got pregnant. She was supposed to give birth in the 2nd movie to a little Wash. Imagine Mal, Jayne and Simon as substitute fathers. And the little Wash would have had Inara, Katlee and River teaching him all kinds of things. And Zoe, she's the Mom and she is in charge of everybody doing a good job with little Wash. Firefly brought me to your channel and I really enjoyed your reactions so I will take a look at your homepage to watch some of your older videos. I am watching 2 other reactors watching Firefly right now and they are ok but they are not as emotional, reactive or attractive as you. Until I see a new video from you, take care.

Fantastic reaction... Partly because of the tears. I still find myself shedding my own tears every time I watch this, as with any truly wonderful story. This has been a fun journey to follow you on. Thank you for your reactions! I'm looking forward to more!
Yes, I definitely was a wreck after this and had to completely edit it in order to give my full outro reaction to this. My eyes were swollen for two days.
Glad to see you react to the film. It does deliver a conclusion for sure. No need to apologize. Also - Joss Whedon put an homage in the film. It is an homage to the great film of 1956 called, "Forbidden Planet." Also Almost ever single episode of Star Trek has an homage as well. Gene Roddenberry has mentioned it many times Oh, the homage in Serenity is seen on Miranda just before the crew sees the video of the lady explaining where the Reavers came from. There is what appears to be a shuttle crashed into the building. It's ID on the side of it is, "C-57D". That's the ID of the spacecraft in Forbidden Planet. Everyone needs to watch that film since every space, TV or film about space, has something seen in it. - As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.

The moment we've been waiting for and also having feelings of reservations for your empathy. This film is wonderful and devastating all at once. Yes, but and it’s a big butt ha ha. Simon also knew and he also knew how to keep her weapon at bay that’s what kind of aggravated me because he clearly acted like he was attempting to figure out the whole movie yet he knew exactly what they were doing to her at the school.
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactionsSimon had an idea of what they were “attempting” to do. He doesn’t believe in “readers” in the beginning, and there was a lot of talk of “side effects.” Tbf, it’s a big leap from, “playing with her brain” to “she’s the ultimate weapon.”
No need to apologize for the crying. Parting with Firefly would be an emotional experience even without the loss the crew suffers. Would have been pretty terrible if you hadn't felt a connection and had a reaction.
This was such a profound series. I hate that it went through so much chaos and did not come out shining with many more seasons that are characters were just put to death so quickly without any type of explanation to their fans. I’m going to have to look up these books. I was very much unaware of them also looking into doing a watch along style video on Patreon for the tam sessions.
Miranda is also present in our own solar system. The fifth and innermost moon (and smallest spherical moon in the solar system) of Uranus, it has a strangely varied surface terrain (nearly impossible for such a small, light body) and a surface area roughly equal to that of Texas. Its name (meaning “worthy of admiration”) is derived from Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest,” where it is borne by the daughter of Prospero; she is the original source of the line, “O brave new world, that has such people in it.” Like the Miranda in _Serenity_ , if terraformed for human life it could easily house thirty million people.
I can see this is being very true, even though I’ve never heard of it prior to the movie still very cool. I definitely believe that we aren’t the only privilege planet
The Wash Moment.... suddenly losing such a beloved character AND seeing Zoe fall apart like we never have even remotely... That was a really hard one for me and still hits, and frankly is always the high point watching someone else experience Serenity the first time is waiting to see how and whether it effects them much. I saw someone before suggested a look at Dr. Horrible's Sing A Long Blog with Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris, and Felicia Day. I definitely second that suggestion. You can find it now as a one long episode where it had been released in sections. You'd have a hoot. In a different direction but branching from here because Alan Tudyk: He's been doing a series called Resident Alien and it's a dark humor comedy series about his character being an alien in disguise and just.... yeah, dark humor. He plays such a different character in it that any other I've seen of his and it's a great show. Subverts expectations and I love how playfully Wrong iit gets at times.
Resident alien will definitely be one that I will pick up. Thank you so much for watching and all of the insights and yes, I will look for that sing-along.
If i may make a suggestion...... Now you should go to youtube and watch all the comic and fan conventions panels.... reunion panels and even the Nerd HQ stuff. I don't know if there has been one with all of them... But there is usually 3 or 4 of them...sometimes 6 or 7. Even when someone isn't there, they will call during the panel to play pranks etc. I see it as a continuation of the characters relationships...in a way. And i'll finish with the classic Nathan Fillion quote i, or someone, puts and the film reaction... "How do Reavers clean their spears? They run them through the wash." - Nathan Fillion.
For me, this movie was the start of my Firefly journey. My brother borrowed the movie off someone, and we didn't even know there was a series. We watched the movie and loved it, they did a great job making a movie that made sense without needing to see the series first. It was months later that we found out there was a series, so we rushed out and bought the box set, and we bought a copy of the movie too so we could rewatch it after watching the series. Many years later, I still mourn the loss of such a great series that died before its time. It will always have a place in my heart. Now, I just need to get around to reading the books and graphic novels. ^_^

Firefly, technically speaking, never really ended. In 2018, Boom! Studios launched an ongoing series of comic books / graphic novels that serve as a continuation of the series, immediately following the events of the 2005 movie, Serenity. These publications are RECOGNIZED AS CANON, since Joss Whedon, himself, acts as a story consultant on them. To date, there are over 70 such publications, the latest being from March 2024. These graphic novels provide very detailed background stories for all the main characters and are painstakingly accurate to the unique feel of our beloved little space western. I have collected many of them and I can testify to their wondrous quality!! I won't reveal any spoilers but I earnestly encourage all Firefly fans to seek them out if you still hunger for more of Capt. Mal & Co.
Okay, before they knew the series was canceled, they did a treatment for season two. A treatment is just an outline, it doesn't include any scripts. The reason Book perfectly understood the tactics and strategy of the (Operative of the Parlament) is because he used to be one. When Book is talking about the Operative with Mal, he is talking about himself in the past. This is a very different backstory than what they gave him in the Comic book. By the way, the comic (Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale) was written five years after this movie was made. Even though Joss Whedon is credited with writing the comic, his brother Zack wrote that comic. I've read it and it really doesn't fit with the level of disgust and shame Book has for his past.
Have you seen Buffy? If not, that's where you go from Firefly to get that feeling back. But beware, it didn't end early and if you think the "break up" here is bad you will need to check yourself in somewhere by the end of Buffy. But it's the same love for the characters, incredible dialog, great writing, and amazing creativity with an awesome cast. And made by the same people that made Firefly, so you'll never find anything closer. Hope you decide to watch if you haven't seen it already!
I’ve been recommended this after watching the movie. I never really wanted to get into the series due to being so obsessed with Kristy Swanson and the 90s. Definitely thinking on it.

It is well-worth watching. Plus your channel will gain thousands of followers and a significant patron boost. 😉
The emotions are a testament to how well crafted the characters were and how well the actors brought them to life. While I doubt they will ever do Firefly again with these actors, I'd love to see them do a show in the same universe with maybe cameos for the original actors. They could even show Mal and Anara as a couple. It might be fun to follow Serenity with a new crew in a new era. So... Children of Serenity or Firefly, the Early Years? Someone call Joss Whedon. Disclaimer: I am co-owner of a game store so my thoughts always turn to games. The first thing I'd recommend is Firefly: The Game. It's a board game where the object is to find a crew, find a job, keep flying. You get to be a Firefly captain. The board is a wonderful map of the inner and outer planets. As an interesting aside, the money in the game was created by Firefly's art designer. It is some of the most beautiful fake money that you've ever seen in a game. The sad part, the game was published in 2013 and is currently out of print, but you can find used copies on E-Bay and the like. Oddly, there are two Firefly role-playing games, Firefly Role-Playing Game and Serenity. Once again, these are out of print but used copies should be available through the usual suspects. While either game is fine, I'd recommend another rpg that is still in print, Scum and Villainy by Evil Hat Productions. It uses the Forged In the Dark rules system. After reading the rules, you can see that it would be perfect for running a Firefly campaign, although you wouldn't have access to any of the source material like the other two games. No matter which one I played, I'd buy a copy of the board game just to have a map. So, if you are a gamer and love Firefly, you have options. Your Firefly journey doesn't have to end with the show. So, find a crew, find a job, keep flying. 🙂
I completely intend on dressing up as one of the characters for Halloween, but I won’t release it just yet, but that is so cool that you own that store you must’ve run across a bunch of fascinating things
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions I'm a big science fiction nerd and Firefly scratched that itch when there wasn't much good science fiction on television.
By the way there is still a ton of merch out there like Jayne's hat and actual "Browncoats" plus models of the ship and guns. You could cos-play Zoe on Halloween.
I love when then assassin's tells Mal there are innocent men dying in this fight and Mal says "you have no clue how true that is" Because the assassin is talking about the alliance, Mal is talking about the Reavers. Because they were innocent at the start before the alliance turned them into what they are now

I don't know if you are interested in more Firefly content, but there are minisodes on-line. The Tam Sessions (prequels),. And they also wrote three comic books to cover the time between the end of the TV show and the start of the movie. It fills in a bit more information about certain cryptic things. Those Left Behind, Better Days and The Other Half.
"- whole world, dead for no reason!". creepy! "- river, and the other subjects.." - doubly creepy! I wonder how many more of her there are, and if we would have met them if the show hadn't been stopped!
How do Reavers clean their spikes? They put them through the Wash 🥁😅 Honestly, after Book and Wash, I thought the most fitting ending would have been for them all to 😵 fighting for the truth. Or at least Jayne 🤣🤣🤣
Every time anybody watches this, they always say "Mal, shoot him in the head!" He didn't aim, he shot from the hip, no aiming. You're lucky if you hit "center mass". You also can't shoot somebody in the hands or feet. At least not on purpose. Everyone is not Doc Holiday from Tombstone.
@@lonnieeastin6401 yep. We know Mal is good enough to hit the head, he did just that in Serenity (Firefly pilot, episode 1). And by the time they are at Mr. Universe's complex, he knows the Operative wears full body armor...

But the guys I know that are shooters say that when you do that quick draw shot from the hip, you don't get much aiming He hits that rope attached to Jayne's leg, because he aimed. Well, I guess it’s good that you don’t know me very well. My father-in-law was a police officer here and he collects a lot of guns so we shoot quite a bit. I may not look at, but I am a great shot as well as a great shot with the bow and arrow.

Yeah, Simon's rescue of River in the movie is a retcon from the series. In the series, Simon didn't do the rescue, and didn't know as much; he paid a high price for someone else to get her out and ship her to Simon in cryo. They made some of these decisions to make the movie work better for an audience that had never seen the series. As fans we may be a bit annoyed, but we rolled with it.

At this point in the true Browncoat initiation I always recommend on your own time you watch the documentary, "Done The Impossible". This is the first full length feature film fully created because the fans could not let it end. The actors, film makers and Browncoats needed a conclusion. It's hosted by "Jayne" and is so insightful to the humble fans of this show. The amazing board game and expansion sets were created by fans and relive so many dear moments of the show. Much love and keep on keepin on J. Welcome to the Browncoats.
Thank you so very much and thank you for taking time out of your day to watch my reaction to it. I know that’s really special for some people to be able to see a first time watching, especially for a television show that was so near and dear to their hearts. 💕
If it's not in your future plans then I strongly recommend the LOTRs trilogy, another group of films often dismissed as " for geeks only", but also films that will get under your skin and take you in an emotional roller coaster.
I was definitely thinking about it. I was just trying to figure out what month to release those in. I may just do a fantasy type style theme one month and get them all out of the way. Sure it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster.
I enjoyed the show and movie reactions. The Miranda storyline was supposed to be at the end of season 2 and possibly a cliffhanger into season 3. Book's death was to help Mal believe in a cause. Wash's death was to show how deadly the mission is. There are comics/graphic novels that tell more back stories and future stories. A Shepard's Tale is Book's back story. Titan Books has a series of books/audiobooks of stories between the tv show and the movie.
I suggest the series 'Eureka', a scify romcom mostly lighthearted fun. 'A Discovery of Witches' is another suspenseful romance series. 'Sanctuary' is a mostly unknown gem full of surprises.
I watched the discovery of witches last year. I believe that was very good. We are a big fans of New Orleans and we have seen the Anne Rice house also really loved the first season of interview with the vampire. I think I may dabble into that one as well.

I was there when an entire theater full of people screamed "NO!!!" at the same time.
And no, I've never forgiven Joss Wedon.
😭😭😭😭😭
It was such a shock. There was about 150 of us together for opening night and we'd been having such a good time and it was like a punch in the gut.
Screw this I wanna live😅
Thank you so much for turning in. Yes I’m so happy to have found this series and to be a part of your family now.

@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactionsthere also comics that show what happens next.
Thank you I’ll look for them today and thank you for watching. I’m so proud to be one of y’all now.

The Alliance Agent was originally meant to be played by Early from Objects in Space but was unavailable.

early certainly survived, but the operative has an entirely different personality and motivation. you shouldn't put so much faith in unsourced, broken english on a random web page.

After "Serenity" - There are still more things to watch: "The River Tam Sessions", blooper reels, additional scenes, & reunion footage.
Nice added scene touches:
-- I loved the scene with Inara greeting the Operative.

I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
Great reaction. Thank you for watching Firefly!
Thank you for being here along for the ride ❤️❤️
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
"Y'all were watchin' I take it."
"Yes."
"Did you see us fight?"
"No."
"TRAP."
Zoe wore a "Slinky Dress" at the end. (Reference to Shindig)
"Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keens. Makes her a home."
Welcome to the Browncoats Darlin'. You've had the laughs, You've seen the frights, and you've felt the pain. You have but one task left. Spread the word of Firefly to others. You don't have to show them watching it. Just spread the word. And, I recommend you watching it with them to help them along in their Journey. BUT, don't spoil it for them.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
They said several times where miranda was and it was beyond reaver space.and chloe even said "do you intend to desecrate our home to get thru readers space?"
The moment when Mal rummages in that toolbox and comes up with a little screwdriver and the Operative draws his sword is a perfect example of a basic theme from the entire show.
In the very first episode, getting ready for their confrontation with Patience:
Zoe: "I don't like this. The old woman still has the advantage over us."
Mal: "Everyone always does. Thats what makes us special."
It’s those key lines that really tug at my heart
If it hasn't been mentioned already, The Expanse is a phenomenal series. Give it some thought.
Thank you I’ll look that one up
They should have put wash's dinosaurs with him.
While that's a decent tribute and a fair opinion, I personally like they stayed where they've always been.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I recently found you. I love your bluntness, I love your roughness, you seem kind with an iron fist.
Just a potty mouth, southern girl but due to UA-cam standards we had to cut down some potty mouth and but yeah, I’m pretty rugged. I’m a tomboy kind of gal. I can out drink you & give you hell the whole time.
THE series to do is Band of Brothers. 10 episodes that will make Firefly look like a walk in the park emotionally by comparison.
meh
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
He was right. When he started fighting a war, they saw something new. It was a bit scary.
Also -
Joss Whedon put an homage in the film. It is an homage to the great film of 1956 called, "Forbidden Planet."
Also
Almost ever single episode of Star Trek has an homage as well. Gene Roddenberry has mentioned it many times
Oh, the homage in Serenity is seen on Miranda just before the crew sees the video of the lady explaining where the Reavers came from.
There is what appears to be a shuttle crashed into the building. It's ID on the side of it is, "C-57D". That's the ID of the spacecraft in Forbidden Planet.
Everyone needs to watch that film since every space, TV or film about space, has something seen in it.

As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
"Is this Earth or another planet?" Earth that was was used up.
i remember when the movie came out back in 2005 i had heard of the tv show but never watched it but went to movies and saw serenity and i liked it and decided to buy the dvd series to watch the show and it became one of my favorites seen it many times over the years and i was sad that they never made season 2 there was a rumor of a reboot with new actors
I don’t know that I can go on without wash and Shepherd
Really enjoyed the firefly run with you, so sorry for the stressful events/ comments surrounding the time of recording. As a suggestion: have you seen Orphan Black? 5 seasons of awesome sci-fi action/drama set pretty much present day. Has great characters that continue to feel real for all 5 seasons. Not as many reactors have covered it, but it also has a cult following. Thanks again for your reactions!
@@neiltrichel1701 thank you so much for watching. I appreciate all of my browncoats immensely. Thank you for taking time out of your day to watch the episodes and for being so kind to give a suggestion. I will look up orphan black that sounds very interesting.
The moment we've been waiting for and also having feelings of reservations for your empathy. This film is wonderful and devastating all at once. Be strong(we know you are with all you've been through) and if you want more in a different medium of entertainment, there are graphic novels that take place after the series and film. Also prose novels. The graphic novel "Shepards Tale" sheds light on Shepard Books past.
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
How many movies can hit you right in the feels that hard?
This one definitely wrecked me
River clearly showed she was a weapon in the tv show. She killed 2 guys without even looking.
Three, but who's counting?
I’m so happy that I found this series, and I am so happy that I get to become a part of y’all family now
Oh Boy..This one is going to sting..
A Lot.
A great finale to one of the best shows ever.
Now you Have to read the books, to get the back story on Shepherd Books..
Thanks again for giving this weird space show a chance
Stay Shiny.....
Its name (meaning “worthy of admiration”) is derived from Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest,” where it is borne by the daughter of Prospero; she is the original source of the line, “O brave new world, that has such people in it.”
Like the Miranda in _Serenity_ , if terraformed for human life it could easily house thirty million people.
I can see this is being very true, even though I’ve never heard of it prior to the movie still very cool. I definitely believe that we aren’t the only privilege planet
I'd say its more like your child moving away because you still will get to see and talk to them much like you can always rewatch the series
I’ll stick with that idea because anything more really kills me. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Wash Moment.... suddenly losing such a beloved character AND seeing Zoe fall apart like we never have even remotely...
I am a like button on the wind, watch how I push.
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
Mal & Co.
Thank you this was an amazing series and I’m so proud to be a part of y’all’s family
The reaver you see getting punched in slow motion, is Neil Patrick Harris.
No way😳
Have you seen Buffy? If not, that's where you go from Firefly to get that feeling back. But beware, it didn't end early and if you think the "break up" here is bad you will need to check yourself in somewhere by the end of Buffy. But it's the same love for the characters, incredible dialog, great writing, and amazing creativity with an awesome cast. And made by the same people that made Firefly, so you'll never find anything closer.
Hope you decide to watch if you haven't seen it already!
And it completely fits the Back to School theme!
I’ve been recommended this after watching the movie. I never really wanted to get into the series due to being so obsessed with Kristy Swanson and the 90s. Definitely thinking on it.
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions The series has a less campy tone in most episodes, but the series but it has teen-drama, horror, and comedy elements, plus a selection of actors whom you will recognize from Firefly. It is well-worth watching. Plus your channel will gain thousands of followers and a significant patron boost. 😉
See also Whedon’s Buffy. Similar themes, great character arts, and more innovative that the brill Firefly.
I’m going to start looking for these yes I’m going to dress up as Judy from Sleepaway camp and I definitely want to be someone from firefly
I love when then assassin's tells Mal there are innocent men dying in this fight and Mal says "you have no clue how true that is"
Because the assassin is talking about the alliance, Mal is talking about the Reavers. Because they were innocent at the start before the alliance turned them into what they are now
I just can’t imagine you all excited to watch episode 15 and it never showed. I at least had the privilege to be able to stream all of these in bulk and then watch the movie. I can’t imagine what you all went through.
The narrator/teacher at the beginning is Tamara Taylor, she was in charge of the forensic team on Bones for almost the whole run of the show.
That’s where I remember seeing her. Thank you!!
We all just keep flyin'
😭😭😭😭😭
We all cry watching this movie. I am happy that you stuck it out. Next series for you to review, I would say should be "Fallout".
Fallout watch along is on Patreon and fallout edited version is live on the channel already
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions thanks, looks like I need to back through your channel
Thank you yes in order to get around a copyright strike here on UA-cam. I’m more than likely going to do these as a watch along style on Patreon.
"- whole world, dead for no reason!". creepy! "- river, and the other subjects.." - doubly creepy! I wonder how many more of her there are, and if we would have met them if the show hadn't been stopped!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
How do Reavers clean their spikes?
They put them through the Wash 🥁😅
Honestly, after Book and Wash, I thought the most fitting ending would have been for them all to 😵 fighting for the truth. Or at least Jayne 🤣🤣🤣
Too soon man, too soon.
@@IgnorantCrayon it will always be too soon...
If your taking suggestions for series.....Vox Machina or Sense8 are awesome.
@@ernesthakey3396 I am not a shooter. But the guys I know that are shooters say that when you do that quick draw shot from the hip, you don't get much aiming He hits that rope attached to Jayne's leg, because he aimed. Right down the site on the pistol. Oh well, at least this movie, it's fairly consistent.
@@lonnieeastin6401 yep. When he shot the fed in the pilot episode he was definitely aiming.
Well, I guess it’s good that you don’t know me very well. My father-in-law was a police officer here and he collects a lot of guns so we shoot quite a bit. I may not look at, but I am a great shot as well as a great shot with the bow and arrow.
This reminds me of a joke I read once. How do reavers clean their spears? They put em through a Wash
I want to laugh at this, but also cry
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions yeah sorry. Too soon for you. I've had 19 years to cope. Thank you for sharing your journey to becoming a Browncoat with us. I look forward to your other reactions. BTW, if you really want to know Shepard ba story. There's a great comic of it called Serenity: Shepard's Tale. Or just ask and I'll tell lol
When did the doctor (a surgeon) grow the courage and stupidity to punch Mal?
This!!!!!
see, that wasn't so bad. I've watched reactions with much worse crying ;) Not many suggest them, but I think you'd enjoy *Farscape* and *Andromeda*

There are graphic novels about the "Verse". Also the original plot of Firefly Inara had a fatal disease.
What???!!!!!
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions It was why she never wanted to get close to Mal. It explains a few details like her suicide needle and her "checkup" and why she left. But they changed it with the Movie.
The 4 wheeler got melted in the rescue of mal from fisk. They loaded it up and sent it in first, let it blow to get them an easy foothold in the fixing bay
Well, the replacement looks amazing

Thank you! Much love! #browncoat
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions Sometimes "If" is the biggest word in the English language. Much love. J.
@@SinisterSouthernbelleReactions I second this suggestion...They always get a lot of views as well. Lets not forget that part. :)
“Just believe in something” 😭😭😭😭😭
I suggest the series 'Eureka', a scify romcom mostly lighthearted fun. 'A Discovery of Witches' is another suspenseful romance series. 'Sanctuary' is a mostly unknown gem full of surprises.
I watched the discovery of witches last year. I believe that was very good. We are a big fans of New Orleans and we have seen the Anne Rice house also really loved the first season of interview with the vampire. I think I may dabble into that one as well.
