Thank you for this video, I had this installed on my Model Y however, whenever I unlock the doors, a random door would pop open. I noticed on 18:15 you mention the metal plate. I'm reaching out to the installer to see if this part might have been missed.
Yes this is what will fix that problem of door automatically opening when unlocking. The long piece to face up. It can easily be missed since there is no clear instruction on this. We did inform Hansshow to add details manual instruction moving forward.
@@megawatts Are those metal plates included in the kit or does it transfer off the OEM handles?
@@teslamymaeve8407 metal plate came with the kit in a tiny zip bag.
@@teslamymaeve8407 I went in more details here for the metal piece ua-cam.com/video/s5ayZb4EHPM/v-deo.html
It's important to note that there are 2 versions of the door handle sensors. There is a made in China one and the other one is made in Mexico which have slightly different design. The made in China sensor does NOT require the metal washer to be installed when transferring over to the new auto-present handle. The made in Mexico sensor is the one that needs to have the washer installed.
Thanks for showing me where to pass the cables from the frunk to the back at 13:27 , thats exactly where I called it quits because I thought I was gonna have to start fishing through grommets in the frunk
I think the simplicity of the panels were engineered that way to be easy to manufacture and to be put together. Being complicated doesn’t make it quality, imo. I actually appreciate this. I’ve taken a lot of door panels off before, the tabs usually break off and the design weren’t friendly to taking on and off
It’s very cool but I would need someone to install it. Out of 5 stars of difficulty to install I would give it 4.5 stars.
Ask Hansshow they have recommendations near your
No one:
How many mods does your Model Y have?
This dude:
Yes
I’m considering this mod, and I greatly appreciate the video showing everything required.
The one thing I would recommend is putting a fuse right at the battery. If that wire shorts out to the firewall, that wire will catch fire.
Thanks 🙏 this does in fact have a fuse between 12v batter and computer module. It’s the black egg shape piece.
@@megawatts Where can I find this fuse? Do you have a link for it?
@@TenshiTV the fuse comes with this kit
@@megawatts Oh right! I did notice that. Thanks!
I would look for some kind of rubber piece to put in the hole so that the wire is not against the metal. It could cause it to fail later on.
Oh I’ll be doing this when I get my Y. As an Uber driver this will be so much better for those that don’t know how to open the door.
OMG! 80% of my pickups I must roll down my rear window and explain how to get the handle put!
Looks good but my god that’s a lot of pulling taking out screws plugs etc etc…but still looks awesome 👏 Ty for the video
Love the look. However, I don’t see myself attempting to do this type of install
@@cyprianskiba8768 yeah hell to the no..u right!
I'd never get it back together. lol
This is the only car I know of that you’ve got to rebuild yourself once you’ve got it.
Instead of ricing it, it’s tech ing it
A hardware jailbreak!
Kinda funny, but fun to do
Yeah, "car guys" do the exact same thing, buy stuff to make their car better
You don’t. It’s an upgrade
Just sharing based on my experience. I have a 2022 Model Y (AMD, li-ion batt) and installed this yesterday. I had to remove the metal plate between the sensor and the door handle because it would not unlock the when the door handle is pulled. If that happens to you, that is most likely the culprit.
I had to install the metal plate for intel 😂
I also have a 22MY, but I do not have the referenced blue plug to run power through the firewall. Where did you connect to 12V power?
@@kjsmith93 I have a 23MY, I also don’t see an easy way to fish the wire to the 12v battery. How did you get to it?
It was explained more easily than any other video. I saw your installation video and understood it easily and completed the installation Thank you very much. You're the best!
Thanks and no problem. It was a challenge with no step by step install video out there. Cheers and keep us going by sharing this channel and follow us on Instagram and virtual COFFEE: www.buymeacoffee.com/themegawatts
I wonder if there are any handle mods that pop out like the Model S instead of just half of it popping out.
🤔
Wow looks great. Elon Musk need to see this to implement it as factory/standard feature 😊
Curious anyone tested this in harsh winters 3-8 months at a time hitting -30C sometimes?
Hi installed this last month, works fine.
Have a problem now.
My 2 windows (right side) are not going down when you open the door, so can not close the door also.
Just got the car towed to tesla service center.
My question is (technically), the 2 glass windows (up&down) on the right side, electric does this effect the hansshow. Better does hansshow effect the electric glass window to go down or up? It’s only the right side, left side is working fine. Also door opening or side mirrirs are ok.
Because need to know if it’s effecting the glass window or not, I’m pretty sure Tesla service center will blame this on hansshow.
Hello, where can I find the metal parts to make the barrier? they were not in my package
This is not an easy installation not for everyone when you start removing your door window you better know what your doing
I didn’t know what I was doing, honestly I watched a video of the guy in SF call TeslaFrunk and it wasn’t detail so had to just go slowly. Since Tesla is somewhat cheaply assembled, removing clips is really like playing with knockoffs legos. The only part to be careful with is when fishing wires not to cut any other wires. Otherwise pretty easy to disable doors and windows.
How loud is this in person? It sounds pretty noisy in the video.
Hope it will not break if you need to pull it strongly in case of an crash.
What gauge wire tap did you use? Also I have a 2019 I don’t have that extra connector on the kick panel
Omg this is so cool every Tesla should have this
Agree but unfortunately door handles will not be included anymore in near future starting with cybertruck lol😅
I love how you skip the hardest part which was popping out the panel after taking off 12 bolts
Here is detail video Tesla Model Y Door Disassemble FULL Tutorial for Auto Present Door Handle | Model S Inspired!
ua-cam.com/video/s5ayZb4EHPM/v-deo.html
it's manufactured/assembled in the USA. I don't see anything misleading.
the mach-e on the other hand is built in mexico...
No it shows MADE IN MEXICO …then put together in USA. But made in good ol’ Mexico, just like damn near every other car parts not just Tesla
I haven’t seen any labeled parts say made in USA and I pull off a lot of parts 😂 agree it’s made in USA but probably better built quality if it was in Mexico to be honest. Rather have parts made in USA and assemble in Mexico 😆
@@megawatts Yepper I know
My Tacoma was made in Mexico. Parts from everywhere. No issues. I would actually prefer a car assembled in china or Mexico these days.
@@PumpUptheJam81 well everything is made
In Mexico
Or China nowadays so it doesn’t matter what it is lol 😆 we as a nation to dependent on others 😳
Curious, with all the mods you have, how significant was your battery drain compare to the original?
No affect as it pulls from 12v pack not main pack. Weight is a wash, the lithium 12 saved almost 20lb and the yoke is lighter plus we swapped a few with real carbon fiber to save weight.
@@megawatts thank you! That's really good to know as I've been thinking of doing of some mods thanks to your vids.
Thank you so much! Your tutorial was the most helpful ever and I did the front passenger door easily. But I am now stuck with the wiring. How do you wire from the right passenger to the drivers side? Is it under the footbed? And where do the wires go to the rear? do they go under the door trim into the B pillar?
Under carpet and through the center console. Rear doors trickiest need the extension harness from Hansshow and connect to the OEM harness and shove the OEM harnesse into the door zip tide it down
This is amazing. Thanks for sharing. I will be doing this myself using your instructions but wondering whether this will be different for RHD in Australia
Should be similar
You said it was plug and play.....Just wondering what part this install was plug and play. Very cool product. I like all of your additions.
the plug from the Hansshow computer to the car, was very easy! Much easier than their display. What I mean is no wire splitting or messing around with any plugs.
Great video, but I will never attempt this myself. Wish I had a place that would do so for me.
How do you make the handles to present itself when you approach?
Hi thanks for your job , what is the TESLA-SHUN bluetooth code ?
I notice on the 2023 Model Y the windows don’t come out so easily does anyone know what the new technique is …?
Hi there - great video. I am actually in the process of installing Hansshow soft closing doors, auto-present door handles, and self-presenting automatic doors. I am at the part where how to fish the wire. I insert it from the blue hole from the frunk but I cant see it on the other side. Any ideas?
You need to fish it through
Is there a video for rear doors.
Lol come here build a car in Fremont and lemme know if we build them here in usa or not 😂 the whole body is stamped here and some harnesses are from Oakland some Mexico some Hungary … is hard to build all the parts when you build 2000 cars a day
Wow! Very nice mod mate! Cheers 🎉
Where's the best place to hide the green control module once the wiring is finished?
Next to the blue plug
Did you pair the module with your phone. I have the multi color version?
Hey, great video. I have two questions.
1. Will the auto door handles void any warranties?
2. will the door handle not auto present if the car sleeps?
Probably warranty on door handles, but can always switch back if any issue. Yes it present itself if your phone app is on with allow location always
asked Tesla about aftermarket automatic door opener and they said adding those could void the warranty on the car
Which warranty the door handles or the whole car big difference
That would be illegal
They cannot void your warranty because you did this. They have to show that this update caused the problem.
I have a 2019 Model 3. Trying to install the self presenting door handles but I can't seem to find the blue plug on the passenger side A pillar. It's like it doesn't exist!
Message Hansshow in WhatsApp’s
these are soft close as well, correct? ordering these handles for our Y too!
Thanks for the how-to vid. I will be installing a set soon but I have a question for you.
Did the real carbon fiber door handle covers you got from Hansshow interfere or cover the lights at all?
Not at all when open. But it does block when blinkers
@@megawatts
Ok awesome.
Thank you
are you still happy after one year? thanks
Hi, I just received my auto present door handles & soft close from HANSSHOW for my 2022 Model Y. Somehow I’m not see extension adapter for rear doors. My question is does my 2022 MYP need these cables? Thanks
Yes you need the wiring harness please reach out to seller.
How do you make them auto present when you walk up? I have these and mine won't. It is supposed to have its own Bluetooth, but I don't know how to connect my phone to the door handles. I have the id name and code, but the instructions do not say how to pair.
This talked with car so car unlock upon walk up
Pretty unbelievable that both the OEM door handle housing and the after-market door handle housing are just made of plastic.
Best way to not burn yourself
My factory handles are aluminum.
What version is this?
Hi, can I install auto present door handles & soft close 2 front doors only. Can I drive while waiting for HANSSHOW send me extension adapter for rear doors. Many thanks.
Yes
@@megawatts thanks
great tesla review
Agree
I have another question, how did you pass the wires through the rear door tubes and panel? It seems like the wiring is different compared to the front and there's no space for the modded handle wires to pass?
The new model y has a plug so Hansshow needs to provide you with the wiring harness. Reach out to them. If it didn’t come with kit
@@megawatts Thank you so much!!! I thought all hope is lost. You are my savior!

See other videos we did review on it
Does the model x and s have the same noise from the handle?
Yes for model s
My perception is that these handles don't pop out as far as the originals. Can any of you guys that got these comment about that?
It pops out same length

There is a software on their website you can install that should fix it click on the actual item on top right I think

Thank you for the detailed video. I did an install of this kit on a Model Y, unfortunately even with the metal plates the doors keep popping open. Any ideas of why this could be happening?
Try flipping the plate upside down

I just installed this on my 2021 model 3 and it is doing the same thing. The rest door is popping open when the handles come out. I tried flipping the metal plate but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
How long did it take you to?
6 hours
What direction will the barrier be place underneath the sensors for the door handle?
Long side up.

How long did it take to do all 4 doors?
I know I said about 30 mins per door on video but I took my time and took breaks and recoding and watch UA-cam videos over a few times during the process so whole process took about 6-7 hrs. I think without recording or breaks about m 4 hours.
@@megawatts is it possible to still drive the car and complete 1 door a day? I want to complete the install over a couple of weekends and still be able to drive it during the weekdays.
@@jayteezy100 yes, still work fine with one door at a time, start with the passenger front door first as that is near the command module.
Anyone else have problems since the latest 2022.36.2 update?
Looks scary lol... so much to take apart . Mostly scared that once u take something apart , all those seals and pins that hold stuff together tight end up loosened and you end up with rattles in the car etc.
It was rattling at delivery this is an opportunity to seal things up 😂

On all doors? Or just one?
On all doors 🤔

Pretty much all wiring harnesses are made in Mexico
The whole car is too 😂
This should have been standard from the manufacturer...
There are many things that Tesla should have on their cars that other brands have as standard. Things like blind spot monitoring is another.
Anyone noticed the handle tried to close itself while his hand was still holding it at 21:20?...It didn't look like it was going to stop either, he had to literally pull his hand out.... Ick!!! Can you imagine if your kid opens the door and holds it for a while? It looks really cool but after seeing that.... no thanks!
That’s the spring pulling back the door handles it’s normal. The latest software corrected that.
@@megawatts Thank you for answering, that looked a little scary. :)
why Tesla don't make this as standard, or an option? so ppl like myself who is a mechanical idiot don't have to risk to break some plastic, or leave some scratches inside the car.
Cost saving
100% of all car parts are made in different countries. No manufacturer has parts made within the country the car is made.
seems to be over engineered anymore wiring than should be required.
Is your car still under warranty?
It’s brand new still under warranty. I mod cars not caring about warranty anyways
@@megawatts I wonder are they going void your warranty for those mods you did? Just curious how many miles do you have on it? And reliable? Mine won't come in December
@@MrPcphn1 probably for just the door handles but then again you not using their OEM ones so if Hansshow have issues just put back OEM but I have had no issues
@@MrPcphn1It is against the law for them to void your warranty. They can however refuse to fix something if they can show that your change caused the issue. So if the locks are not working, and you have these, then they will not warranty that. And if you had some massive hardware short that they can show was caused by this modification, then they would not cover damages caused by it. But they cannot void the entire warranty. So if the battery has massive degradation, they cannot blame this. If you have suspension problems, they cannot blame this.
TBH the Made in Mexico comment was unnecessary. I bet you wouldn't be saying the same if it said Made In Canada or Made in Germany right.
Don’t pull the race card brother it was an observation they calming made in America and USA etc.
To be fair most of Mexico is third world. It is kind of like China in that way. Some areas that are first world, but third world behind the curtain. Not going to have your very high end stuff made there. But cars are definitely within their build quality abilities.
For f’sakes don’t run a power wire through a metal without a rubber grommet. You’re just asking for a short or worse
I thought exactly the same thing. Only a matter of time before that shorts out.
Sounds bad. Doesn’t seem worth the trouble.
I would save a lot more time just opening my door the way it was designed verses the time and money spent installing this thing
Tell that to someone with arthritis but honestly it’s worth it. It’s been a year and can’t got back to full manual
