Vanessa, your goulash looks delicious, and I'm sure it tastes wonderful. 😋My maternal grandmother emigrated to America from Germany in 1915 when she was 17 years old. Her parents sent her here to escape the war. She made her goulash in a somewhat different way but it was a meal we had frequently. My mother learned how to make goulash from her. And now 70 years later my sister and I make it for ourselves!
That takes a different skill to cook on a wood stove. looks delicious.
Your cooking episodes are just as wonderful and entertaining as your bushcrafting ones, and I always am starving after watching them! I have added Schnitzel to my regular appetite thanks to you, and I look forward to trying the Goulsh now... Thanks for another great one, Vanessa! Much love from the USA! ❤🤍💙
Well done, very nice video...😊
I love your garlic clove shaking in a jar - I tried it, it really does work! Cool! Vanessa, I'll give your recipe a try. I haven't had good goulash since I left home. Your explanation was excellent. Your goulash dinner made me super hungry. Thank you
for a good video.
Looks very good! Slow cooking always produces the best flavors!
I have eaten goulash, but I've never made it from scratch. It looks so appetizing! The quality of the beef is outstanding. I wish technology would make it possible to smell what is cooking. I've been to Bavaria many times but have never seen that brand of dunkel. Who is the brewer? I also cook with bier. I have made stews with Weihenstephaner dunkel, also chili with Red Stripe (Jamaican Lager), and I make salmon using stampfbeir . I don't drink stampfbier, but the rich, carbon-smoky character is excellent for cooking. I hope you decide to release more traditional Bavarian dishes. People here in the U.S. need to learn how to cook using amazing bier from Germany. Is there a dish where roggin beir is used? My favorite roggin bier is by Thurn und Taxis. A wonderful episode. Well done. Prost!
Yes, I like to eat goulash, and you actually inspired me to try it with venison when I first saw you in a camping video with Lilly. You cooked deer goulash over the campfire that night. My cousin gave me some moose stew meat and I made a very tasty goulash with it a week or two later. Still later, I cooked a pot of it for him. I am now a regular viewer of your videos (and Lilly's too.) You have a beautiful kitchen, by the way.
Vanessa was pregnant in that video with Lilly. She had "the glow" along with the most incredible smile. Cheers from Ontario, Canada
Hi Vanessa we have goulash as well in the UK 🇬🇧 made with shoulder steak as well what we call Chuck steak in the UK 🇬🇧 and we have other types of meals what we call stew as well , It look like the American style goulash which you made with noodles, it looked a absolutely 💯 fantastic meal .
❤️Vanessa.
Reminds me of my grandmothers kitchen. I tend to use cast iron dutch ovens , pots and pans, as they cook themselves once hot.
Spent some time, in both germany and austria in the 1990s. So have had goulash in austria it was made with hirsch (deer) very dark meet. But had a good taste.
I will definately try yours in time.
Goulash is a favorite at my house. Just 2 of us now; kids grown and gone. My recioe is a bit different than yours, but still very similar. For one, my wife doesn't care for the taste of paprika, so it gets left out. Also, for simplicity, I use ground beef. Just had it 2 nights ago
Delicious video! Cozy kitchen! Children and animals , they all are there , love this ! I have a small old cast iron stove myself. As I wrote on your German channel, I will try a Goulash a la Vanessa! Thanks ! Unfortunately, it is difficult to find ready-made Spätzle, such as Knöpfle in Finland. At one time they were available at Lidl, but... 😋❤🦊
Vanessa nice to see you again cooking but what you want with what you were just making was a good Yorkshire pudding to go with it but yeah looked nice what you were doing over here Yorkshire pudding goes well with the dinner hope all are well stay safe and stay healthy and stay warm one life enjoy blessed be
Looks delicious! I love to cook and will try your recipe. Must be nice cooking long and low in the kitchen on a cold day in Bavaria.
Hi Vanessa looks beautiful enjoy and family and have a good upcoming week hugs🌲🐕🦺✨🍀🖐️
this is great, you will be able to make it thru the times when folks with all electric or gas will be suffering in winter, cooking on a wood stove is what my grand parents did when i was small. We had coal burning fireplaces when i was younger.Great video thanks for sharing
I make goulash often. I'm definitely going to try putting balsamic vinegar in my next batch. Looks absolutely delicious 😋

WOW Vanessa.... I can smell your goulash here in America. But I sure miss the German goulash. So So tasty. I don't eat corn so just the goulash and you steal my heart forever. Ich Liebe Dich SOOOO !!!!
It looks perfect! Wish I could try your version of goulash. Great job Vanessa!
Words that have never left my mouth: too much onion! 😂😂. Amazing kitchen, LOVE the stove!
I love that garlic trick! Now I can't wait to buy some....
Hello Vanessa thanks for the nice video the goulash looked very delicious I have had Southern goulash also delicious but it's just a little different. Have a blessed day.🦊🏆👍
I saw it in german, I am not german speeking, but I thought I understand most of it. Again fantastic house and kitchen.
Great cooking, my Mom ,German family , made goulash. Such great memories, try to make it like hers and yours
Hi Vanessa, you have a beautiful smile. I love your dimples. 😊
Damn Vanessa that looks good yummy 😋 yummy
Great video as always vanessa. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
People do not get fat from butter,,,, it is from too many grains
Wow great job 👍 super skill set
Looks amazing and I bet it tastes great
I just Love watching you Cook with that Woodstove! Allowing the meat to simmer, in a cooler spot on the stove top, is the secret .. let the extra water evaporate away, leaving behind the tastie escents of the beef. Adding the vinegar to it, separates all the fatty parts and creates a good broth. Looks absolutely delicious 😋
Please, do more cooking, Vanessa! I'll bet the entire house smells wonderful 👍😊
I love how Aika and the katzen woke up, just as it was almost ready! 😅.
Nice looking Goulash
Vanessa, although I am of English heritage many of my friends growing up were of German heritage and Goulash was a delicious meal. I love it! You are a multi-talented woman and thank you sharing the different facets of your life!
hair looks beautiful
I've EATEN & COOKED GOULASH, many TIMES , as You well said it's a SLOW & LENGTHY DISH to prepare , it's to me a CLASSICAL SUNDAY DISH , I normally serve it with RICE & SALAD 🥗 , and of BREAD 🍞 is a MOST ... HAPPY 😁‼️ SUNDAY ,...from MIAMI FLORIDA US ‼️😉‼️
That's a rad shot of you with that butcher knife and meat cleaver Vanessa!😂
Sorry! ...Annoing Me👍💋
Great video Vanessa
Growing up I remember my uncle cooking on a wood stove. I can still see a pan of the best biscuits I've ever tasted sitting on it .
Vanessa, I love this version of you. There is no denying that this is the real wild woman that we have loved from the beginning!! Even some of your old music in your last video. I wish you a million views!!
Fresh Fallen Snow by Chris Haugen
@@richardstever3242 Thankyou for that title. It’s a beautiful song.
@@robertadelsberger3749This little angel suffered a dark night of the soul after the birth of her third son and consequent illness related to a tick bite. It ripped my heart out and so did that song. Hearing it again in a happier context really warmed my heart. I'm so happy to see her bouncing back. Greetings from Ontario, Canada
❤❤👍👍
Cast iron cooking in pots and skillets made of cast iron!!!!! Like our ancestors!!!
I have eaten goulash while I was IN GERMANY. HAVE MQDE IT ALSO & LOVE IT
Érdekes videó lett!😀👍
I LOVE the garlic peeling hack! THANKS! That is a very interesting recipe that looks like it would be very tasty. I should share with you the real HUNGARIAN Gulyas because it is quite different.
Vanessa, that looks amazing. It must be delicious, the spices and everything you did it must have so much flavor. I enjoyed the video very much.
Do you save the seeds... worth thinking about next season...
You should learn American Goulash , it’s quite easy
Always had goulash at a small restaurant where I was stationed near Mannheim, in the 80's. I think my favorite meal was (jagershnitzel)? But I always would order traditional German food at any restaurant we would go to. And my favorite beir, Lowenbraugh - bach. Mmm, dark beir.... 😊
WOW! That bread looks AMAZING, please teach us if you have not yet. I'll look through your videos. Also, did you say Spaetzel? I always wanted to know how to make it because I'm German Heritage American. I might make that goulash for Thanksgiving. I think my other half would really love it. Thank You! Does everyone have a wood stove in Germany? My grandma had one in PA.
We regularly cook Hungarian gulyás over an open fire in the summer. We use a tripod from which we hang a very large bogrács (a cauldron). You are right, Vanessa. Several hours work does make for an amazing meal.
Hmm, reminds me of when i had a beautiful Salzburg meal of fresh Elk (cooked medium) with Spetzle and ligon berries with sauce. 😋
Your goulash, looks absolutely delicious. It looks very rich and hearty. I would definitely love to try it.
Great video! The goulash looks fabulous!! Must be wonderful to cook with a wood stove in your kitchen! And if the power ever goes out....not such a big deal! My Oma always made spatzle which we LOVED!! I have to try my hand at it. Nothing like a cozy home that's warm and smells of good food cooking on the stove. Do you make Rote Grutze? Have you made a video of it already? Oma would top it off with a warm vanilla sauce. Soooo good!
Goulash looks to me like beef stew, must be so delicious. IN USA I make beef or chicken stew with the same cooking process. Thank you for sharing it. 👍
OMG That goulash must be tasty cooked over that wood fired oven. Love your Life style Vanessa! :)
This is an all-time great classic. One of the ultimate winter foods. I appreciate seeing your unique preparation, Vanessa. A rich concoction.
A minimalist version contains just meat, sweet paprika, ground caraway, (marjoram?), and onions;. But I use walnut oil to brown and red wine .
Yes to the fat, but the best I ever made had beef, pork, and venison all together crispy browned in bacon fat.
Best served with crusty pumpernickel bread and red wine from a tabletop wineskin, with the legs in the air.
Thank you for your video I'll try and make goulash your way looks delicious. Here in America my mom uses 85% lean ground hamburger meet with chopped up onions and chunked canned tomato and tomato sauce with potatoes cut down. That would be my mom's recipe I'll try your's thank you for the video.
Good morning Vanessa. Thank you for bringing back memories of my grandmothers kitchen. She used to make hungarian goulash for special dinners. The aromas from her cooking that filled her house were wonderful.
Yes, I am now hungry.
Yes, I love Goulash ... bread rolls "and" wood stoves ... but sadly, I live in the UK and we are not permitted to cook on wood stoves [it is illegal and if caught we could go to prison] because our misleaders in the guise of leaders keep coming up with insane money making ideas that will help them fill their coffers, and get back to having weekly subsidized alcoholic parties in their clubs where they can seduce their drunken benefactors and pay their debts to each other.
Thanks for sharing ... xx
I enjoyed watching you make your meal. I have eaten a variant of your recipe growing up. Your goulash looked very delicious. I also have a wood burning kitchen cookstove and I agree with you. Food taste much better being cooked over the wood heat. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my Vanessa!!! I wish UA-cam had smell because that just looks soooooo delicious. My friend makes it once in a while but not like you. Hers is still great but will have to show her you method and maybe we can try it together. You’re a great cook girl!!!! Hope those boys loved it…
Hope to see what you can do with chicken sometime.
Looks fantastic! I wish I could smell the goulash through my phone. More episodes like this Vanessa would be a nice addition to your regular shows. Hope you are feeling better.
That looks amazing!
I grew up eating goulash but it was nothing like your goulash.
And the little fried in butter pancake dumpling things??
I have no clue what it is but I would love to try them.
I love goulash and the recipe you prepared looks absolutely delicious!
My Daddy (German Descent - Shook is my maiden name) would make Goulash, but honestly his looked nothing like yours. I want to try and make yours. He has passed on now, but I am sure he would love your Goulash.
I think I'll have to try your version of Goulash. Although here in the states we have many variations of this. I thing majority of the recipes here use ground hamburger and noodles. Which would mean it wouldn't take 4 hours to cook. If your interested in a recipe I'm familiar with let me know. 😊
Seeing you cook on the wood stove takes me back to my childhood and watching my Mother cooking meals on the stove. Thank you so much for the memories. Your Goulash looks very much like our American Chili.
I Love Goulash But much different than urs
We eat goulash here also in Louisiana. Although it is slightly different version. My grandmother made it all the time. Now I do also.
I am so hungry now 😊 I just stumbled across your channel and am enjoying your content. Thank you!
Ma Lady, My hat is off to you. You never cease to amaze me. From your delicate beauty to your strength and knowledge in the forest, and now you prepare a meal fit for a KING. (oh how I wish I had just a small plate of that meal). You truly are a Lady of many talents. I so look forward to another one of your enjoyable videos.
That looks so good! Thanks for the wonderful video instructions.
What is called goulash in America is clearly not what you’re eating. It’s still good but it’s more of an everything in the kitchen stew. Usually even some macaroni cooked into the sauce and the ways I have seen it cooked here is fast. I’m sure yours is very good too, just you asked so figured I would share it’s a surprising difference between the two cultures/countries. Grandma used to make it but didn’t know what to call it, I found out what most Americans call goulash is basically what Grandma used to make. Very very good though, especially when it’s cold out. I don’t make it so often because the kids and wife don’t really care for it. I could be doing it wrong or they could have some sort of genetic abnormality affecting their ability to discern flavors but they love the deer chili, especially when I use deer sausage instead of deer burger.
that was delicious ..my complimentns to the chef Vanessa
I've had goulash, all right, but it was a long, long time ago: school lunches when I was maybe 6 years old. I'm 48 now, so that means it's been more than 40 years, and I don't even remember what it tastes like!
That looks so good! I've had czech goulash and it's so good. Yours is similar to czech goulash and they serve with potato dumpings . It does take a long time but so worth it. Thank you for sharing and i will try your recipe
I love the way you present yourself and the way you live your live
I make it here in USA but a little different spices but I think I will try this version!!
Sorry wrong key!!! We sort of forget your home language is German. Another plus for your kids to speak one and know the other very well. What a meal, as all of a sudden I'm stravering. Goulash is different, but I like a good beef stew with all the herbs and a touch of whiskey in it, which lasts for days and gets better everyday for taste, when I have the time to cook it.
That's one delicious looking meal Vanessa .❤
I think I can almost Smell it. It Looks Wonderful !
What a really nice dinner you made, the goulash I'm used to in U.S.was good ,your dish looks delicious!
Liked your cooking video your goulash looked real good. Have a great day Vanessa.
I love the cooking in the cabin . I will try your goulash next week. x
You have a wonderful kitchen and i love all the cast iron pans. Must be so much fun cooking with a fire driven stove too. Thank you for the content.
My mouth was watering the whole video! Thankyou! I will have to try this!
I love Goulash. It's my abiding memory from my first motorcycle touring in Germany 😍
Hi Vanessa, another great video. I had hungarian goulash years ago, but have never been able to make it. I first had Schnitzel in a German restaurant in South Korea and never seen it anywhere since. It is great I loved it. With the Goulash how do you get the rich creamy sauce? Do you add any flour of thickening agent?
What kind of pans do you use? I'm guessing it's cast iron. Or is it Non stick pans, like teflon?
Looks amazingly delicious. Wish I could eat a big dish of it.
I had an old wood kitchen stove in my cottage in Canada and it was awesome for making all kinds of food as well. Too bad you were not my neighbor back then. We could have shared so much recipes. This modern age of micro waves and cardboard food is depressing when you think about how we use to prepare meals not that long ago. As always. Be well and God bless.
I eat blade steak almost exclusively. It is a little tougher, but done right it is nice and tender. Especially in a goulash or a stew.
