Very awesome photos love that you mom allowed you kids to run around and enjoy being in nature even better that she taught you about plants you could eat and not, you keep this memory to today, I wish I was taught about the plants , I was taught about fishing , the wild animals we camped as well , i still love being in nature myself , sounds like you had a wonderful childhood being in nature is so good for you, I wish more parents would teach their kids about nature taking them out often on adventures rather than let them watch tv or play video games. Very true about the 12 year old girls now , I never let my daughter wear makeup at that age , Felt that is just asking for trouble. I thoroughly enjoyed this video Vanessa thank you so much for sharing .
I loved the photos of you playing outside as a little girl. I spent my own childhood playing outside, too, and now that I'm 72, it's still my favorite way to spend my time....from stacking wood to gardening to mowing the lawn to watching the birds, and even shoveling snow. .I became what I wanted most as a child....an outdoor girl...thank you for sharing!

Vanessa, thank you for sharing these photos of your pre-UA-cam life. Your parents provided many opportunities in your young life to be out in nature, which is fantastic. I love the photos of you kissing the frog , and also of you with the Walther PPK. 😊
A fabulous collection of photos, Vanessa. My favourites were the ones of you doing something funny or silly. The photos of you with animals were also very sweet.
My first car was also red and also ended up on it's roof and destroyed and in a ditch in my case. I wish I could show you my photo of it.

Thanks for sharing your years growing up! Loved all the photos, w mules, donkeys, horse, crow(?), ol' family dog, reggae festival, knotty pine walls! The house I grew up in, the den had knotty pine walls, and a separate studio apartment over a two-car garage I lived in, was all knotty pine, great memories. I went to a lot of reggae festivals every summer, from Golden Gate park in San Francisco, up to Lake Tahoe, summer tours like Reggae Sunsplash, or every Friday night at the club, or whoever was touring, irie vibes, mon, "skankin' and rub-a-dub'n!"
Great times! I did a lot of videoing w an 8mm camcorder, wish I still had those vids.

Very interesting to see your development into bushcraft. My teenage years were spent in Kenya where we had access to cars from about 16 and my friends and I took advantage to venture into the bush on weekends and holidays. The campsites are usually only designated as such, without any facilities that you would find in Europe, no water or toilets and no fences at all to stop wild animals, so it was quite common for elephants and hippos to come through the camp. As we grew into our 20s and gained bush experience, our camps became simpler so that outside of the rainy seasons we would not bother with taking tents but only a mosquito net which I would hang from the branches of a tree and a thin matt to lie on. I now live in Croatia where we are fortunate to have outstanding natural beauty and where there are still relatively wild areas, but family life has taken over and we no longer camp.

Happy New Year, Vanessa! There were so many great photos that I can't choose a favorite. My family did take many holidays, but we did not take many photographs. Every time I see photos of you in the countryside, it reminds me of the 4 times I spent in Germany. Then again. I was working, and it was back in the mid-eighties. I took in so much history, architecture, and the superb bier. I'm not sure when I will ever return. My vision is failing as the years pass. But I still have a friend in Kelheim. Thank you for sharing these photos, Vanessa. It is fascinating to see your days of innocence, to adulthood. I look forward to your next Bushcraft episode. I hope 2023 brings you prosperity, and abundant health. Prost!

Love Love seeing your photos of you growing up into a beautiful strong woman, mom and person. We all have those moments throughout life that we think were not our best side but it’s all part of us growing up and finding out who we are. I was more on the opposite side of you on clothing. I loved the girly girl style of everything. Like you my mom did not let me wear any makeup until around 14 and then it was very little. After my sweet 16 Birthday I got to use more, as a matter of fact, my mom actually gave me a markup kit of my very own, but was told several times to march my little behind back into the bathroom and take off some of it. It’s strange how little events in our lives turn us down different paths and where we wind up. I guess it’s for the better most times but there are the times we would just like to forget and push them out of our memories. So proud how you have managed to manage your life to survive in this world we are in these days and raising your boys to be good and prepared young men. We can only do what is our best no matter what others say out us. It’s our lives and just let us live it❣️Love you and your family, take care…. 🤗

That was really cool! Thanks for sharing more of your life, you were a pretty girl and still a pretty woman. We all have those gawky, goofy teenage photos...You don't need to see mine, I had very curly bushy hair, in my teens, I was a white boy with an afro. Fortunately for me it was cool in the middle 70's, but the Marine Corps didn't think so when I enlisted at 18 years old...lol
