Nice job!, I didn’t see it coming with the wings!! Beautiful transition. My wife has been after me to tie a dragonfly, I have been putting her off , because I wasn’t sure how to do it! I have only been tying for over a month. Thanks for all your expertise! Gene

Gorgeous!
Thanks Sid.
Came across this video today. Thanks Barry, yet another work of art from the master himself. Just wanted to point out a thought that ocurred to me today and that is: that your videos are amazing in so many ways but 1 single item is, that you don't rush through them as opposed to many others tiers (highly subscribed ito Nos, I might add). This is not supposed to be a speed test..... it's an instructional video. These videos have become the highlight of my day. Take care and God bless.
Gracias Luiz. I am so pleased that you like them and are finding them useful.
Excellente la démonstration ! ! ;-)
Thanks Azerty.

My wife says” it’s too cute to give to the fish “ nice job !
Thanks Robert.
Brilliant
Thanks Freddie.
fantastic
Thanks Line.
I do not know if you will every see this. Your flys are magical and you make it seem so effortless. Sometimes I think I have 10 thumbs. I have watched several of your wally wing ties. I can not get the stem to split. the fibers simply pull off the stem. I tried mallard flank, gadwall flanks, saddle hackle and some craft store feathers no luck. suggestions? Thank you if you see this and take the time to answer.
Hi Bruce, thanks. When tearing the Wally wing you must only use two barbules to tear each wing. If you use one barbule you will tear too little from the rachis (quill) if you use more than two barbules you will tear too much from the rachis... Give it a go and let me know how you get on.
Fantastic! I am going to have to try that in the morning! It's 3:30 A.M. here in the eastern United States. I think I could do that! I have seen wally wings done before but you made it look so easy.. That small diameter tube, brilliant! I know I would have never thought of it. I have only been tying for about 5 years now. Thanks for sharing your fly tying expertise with the rest of us. I would love to know what those clips are called that you use to remove stray hackle fibers. All the best, Sean
Thanks Sean and good luck with them!
Not a hard or complicated fly to tie, the use of a tube fly tube to create the Wally Wing is the take away here. We live in a golden age of fly tying and fishing, the amount of good instructional video that you can access with just a click is staggering. I myself have been tying some of the older patterns like Fran Betters Usual, I been doing quite well with one in # 18 and 20 with Light Olive tying thread. Talk about simple and cheap. I am going to tie this one, but for the Hendrickson, sulphur and White Fly hatches, those are in the # 12 to 16 sizes, I know I can tie in that size range with out much problem, I am not sure about # 18 down - Something to play with come the winter months.
👏🙌
Thank you.
great!! tying... i try it!
Mr. Barry, I am really pleased on how well I am coming along with my Wally Wings. But, I am having problems on placement. Either I get them to far back from the hook eye or to close. Do you have a rule of thumb you go by on where you place you Wally Wings? Is that hook a regular long or XLong or what length hook are you using??
Thanks
Mike Walters
Hi Mike, good to hear that you are getting there. This is a little difficult with proportions, especially when you tie on different sized hooks. A good way is to tie up a few on the same sized hook, then take a look at them if you are not pleased with the wing position on any of them take the two best and then tie another with the wing in-between the the position of the two best. Also tie the wings longer than required, these can be trimmed down to the correct size later. Good luck!
@@Thefeatherbender Thanks, I will sure give that a try. Thanks
Great pattern were do you get your hackle's from cheers
Hi Neil, thanks the hackles I use are Whiting saddle hackles but the wings are mallard flank.
Parabéns 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
very nice (stupenda)
Ciao Enrico!
a beautiful fly. I don't think this is a fly for a beginner.
Hi AJ, Thanks, but it's not as difficult as you think!
yes it is
