You made that look so easy, I've just tied one and it looks like something the cat brought up. Brilliant as usual Davie 👏👏👏

I can believe you. I'm no novice but found the bulk at the wing root difficult to overcome. Managed in the end.

Absolutely bloody masterful, Davie. I've tied quite a few following your pattern, and it's actually quite tricky, splitting the stiff, uncooperative Coq de Leon - but wow, they do look good. The addition of a couple of stripped-out organza fibres really adds to the DH spinner.

Braw wee beastie Davie. Maybe it should be called a Dynamite Davie!. Thanks for the tips. 👍👏🎣

Nice , good looking spinner . I have never tied one like this , simple enough tie with few materials. Just the way I like them . Thanks for the video.

The Spent in all its splendour! Many advantages to this fly: light and hydrophobic materials, not rigid, that float well and low, and especially, because of their flexibility, pass well in the air without creating a helice effect that would twist the tip of the line. We can use, in this case, small diameters without problems. And, in addition, quite simple to realize as long as we focus a little!
In my opinion, a successful experience with a model that will not drop in our boxes at the water’s edge! Bravo!
    All the best.

Very nice looking fly. Just looking at it you know it would be a fish catcher! Thank you !

Beautiful I'm just waiting for a fly box coming, I want for dries , I thought it would have been here today, and can't wait to get a few of yours tied and put in it.👍

Hello Davie. I've started tying the spent gnat fly and since it's the start, the fly doesn't look that good yet. But even now I believe the fly will catch fish. I live close to the north Platte river in Casper , Wyoming, so there is no lack of fishing places to go to that are close. The only thing that holds me back usually is a bum leg that often hurts too much to get out but I use those times by tying flies and usually they are patterns of yours (that more often than not are very productive. Your you tube channel is where I go to for help with ideas for fly patterns and other helpful ides such as bleaching and dyeing feathers and such.

Love to watch your thought process and progression. Now trimming the body before tying it in and adding CDL for the marking so bold in the live ones. I had gone almost exclusively “tilt wing” parachutes but with good deer hair getting hard to come by I think the DH will get a lot of use. Love the no dub abdomen.

Not sure who came up with this fly but I assume they named it after Harry Darbee because of his pattern called The Two Feather fly. It’s the same basic idea where the tail body and wing are created from a single feather. Hatchmaster is another name for it. But Harry Darbee originated the style back in the 30s. Out of the 3 names, Dynamite Harry is the clear winner.

Great idea Davie! Now to create a Rusty Brown Spinner. Rusty brown body and white or cream wing. Maybe a brown marker?

That is absolutely inspired, but (trust me on this) not an easy tie. CDL's stiffness is such an advantage - worth the expense. I'm back to the tying bench for yet another try. Phew!

Hi Dave, I have to say that is a savage pattern, can you tie a few more patterns in that style,It would be much appreciated.

bit of green in the body it could pass as a dragon fly

Attractive & intriguing. Are the wings the same length as the hook body? I’ve been tying dries with upright poly wings with hook length as the measure but haven’t started poly spent wings yet.

I have tyed smaller flies with the foam so it would certainly be worth tying some with the foam..I'm glad you liked it..

Beauty of a fly. Just curious, how do get the wax to stay in your fingers. Do you do anything special with it so it does not fall off?

Your flies sir are works of art. I could never fish such a beautiful fly. It deserve to be eaten by fish. It should be hung in a shadow box on the wall. We'll done.
