    I have neither the ways, nor means of achieving a tie like this and yet, watched, riveted from start to finish. Thanks a lot!

    I always had trouble with the body. Your tape idea is great. Can't wait to use it. Thanks!

    Probably the best all around dry fly for fast water. Many excellent techniques here. The anti-flare tail tie in is a great one as is the sand paper. Your tying techniques produce very neat/clean flies. Thanks for all the content you provide.

    loved the masking tape trick! that's handy. I probably caught more trout in fast water with this fly than any other.

    Great looking tie, Barry. You definitely sold me on that Stonfo razor blade tool. Thanks for sharing.

      Same here my friend! Not a cheap tool but at least I won't have to put masking tape on razor blades and bend it with my fingers. (And what a tie... Barry really is amazing, isn't he?)

    Nice one Barry. I bet this thing floats for ever. The razor blade holder is a handy gadget to know about. Must get one.

      Hi Bob, thanks. Yes I have a few different ones and so far this is the best I have used, many of the others are over designed.

    A great fly and the tying was even greater. I always learn something new from your informative videos. This time it was the thread separation at the tail. Thanks from down under in NZ.

    Like the way you make it. Before Covid I tied many of theses practicing at the same time dear hair roll up for my muddler. I used a lot of moose (from last hunting season)in combination making great patter on the body. I also improved my tying pratice with your generosity, sharing all theses video. Many thanks

    Great pattern Barry. I’ve thought about that razor blade tool and I think I’ll have to bite the bullet as it’s quite expensive for what it is. I considered making one but it’s the tightening part that puts me off that idea. Thanks for another one dude.

    Hi Barry, I tried doing this fly using another tier's method and struggled immensely . I DESTROYED 2 AND MADE 2. I DID USE TWO FEATHERS AND YES IT WAS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THAN YOURS . My supplier is sold out of the razor blade holder for now so I'll keep an eye out for them.

    I like the sandpaper trick. I tied a lot of these over the years. It's a great fly, I like to fish them in pocket water a # 14 has worked the best for me on the waters I fish. For years I used caribou body hair for the body. Spins well and floats even better, thou it can be a little hard to work with. I got around that with using smaller clumps of hair. I even wonder if wings are really needed. I tied them without and they worked just fine.

      I think especially in pocket water where fish only get a quick look? I used to use Tom Thumbs in pocket water and I swear the more chewed up it got the better it caught! Good observation!

    Barry I may have missed it (apologies if I did) but could you at some point discuss your bobbin? It seems to have a lot more “features” than the ordinary variety. Love the book thanks!

      Hi John, it's a Petitjean TT bobbin, tyers either love them or hate them, I love using them: ua-cam.com/video/CUa22d5TMe0/v-deo.html

    Barry I have almost caught up to all your videos to the point that UA-cam won't let me search further back but occasionally feeds me a new (To me) video. I am going to miss the frequency of your videos.
    I have one of those Stonfo frames on order, somewhere I had a plastic frame but thousands of years from now Archeologists will excavate it out of an ancient dwelling under the nuclear trash.
    This fly looks like my hair first thing in the morning!! How did you know???
    Love you and your work Barry, between you and Davie I have some great role models!!

    This one is in the book. I didn't think it was. I'm going to half to get the tight materials. Usually I can find something that will come close. But alot of these trout flys need the material you use.,I've found very little substitutes. Killer fly.

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Randy, the one in the book is a little different it has a deer hair hackle and no wings but very similar.

    • @randychappell5955
      @randychappell5955 4 роки тому

      I did find the ( similar one ) and your spot on. Once you get about four things down, you can do about any of these. It is hard to find substitutes for the right materials, but I'm getting there.lol Loveing the adventure all the way.
