What really touched me was Hamish was almost the only man who didn’t care what Arthur had done and considered him a close friend and gave him his horse. It felt fitting seeing his horse Buell die in the final scenes when Arthur says “Thank you” it’s almost as if he was saying thank you to Hamish.
I felt Hamish was ment to feel like a father figure to Arthur in the absence of Hosea and Dutch. In the final mission you ride with Hamish towards the boar you can hear a faint rendition of Cats in The Cradle. Cats in the Cradle is famous song about a boy growing up with a mostly absent father who comes to regret the choice he made not bonding with his son.
Arthur changed the way we look at games man it seems he became apart of us all while we played this game by far one of the greatest game characters of all time 🙏
One of the most important things about Arthur’s character for me is that he shows us we can be forgiven. I don’t mean in the religious way. I just mean he shows us that no matter how unforgivable or bad of a person we think we are, we just have to choose to see the good in ourselves that other people see.
That's my take away too, that's one of the reasons I played high honour and I just couldn't be bad, it just seemed wrong in this game as opposed to GTA.
RDR2 isn't just a game, its an experience. When your playing it it doesn't feel like your playing a game but like being a person living this life in 1899. I will never truly get over Arthur Morgan he is the greatest character in gaming history and nobody can ever say otherwise.
