  • A user review of Lucent Globe Dishwasher Sheets. These are an Australian product, biodegradable, using (claimed) 'all natural ingredients', as well as a claimed 26c/wash. This price per wash is only achievable if you lock into their maximum buy volumes (which I didn't). They also compare against claimed $1.20 per wash pods. At no time have I seen dishwasher pods for sale at this price. Pods are typically 63c RRP, down to 45c on sale, which are very easy to find. Aldi 'Logix' tablets are cheaper again, down to 19c per wash, or 9.5 c/wash if you cut them in half! All in all, I can recommend 'Lucent Globe' on excellent wash performance, environmental friendliness and a big thumbs up for being made in Australia.

So what have you settled on using going forward as your daily choice?
Also for rinse aid do you just use vinigar?

Yes, I'm using Lucent Globe daily. I use 'finish' brand rinse aid, which is sold by Aldi. The LG doesn't use much and this was in the machine when I made the video. I'd be curious how vinegar goes, maybe I'll do another video with lucent globe vs water and brand rinse aid vs vinegar.

So you were using them along with the rinse aid as well??

We tested the Lucent Globe sheets and they seemed good so my wife bought about 8 boxes of them. Unfortunately over time the glasses started coming out cloudy. We thought it must be a problem with the dishwasher itself, but then got some of the Finish balls in your video and everything came out perfect. Not sure what the issue is with the sheets.

Very interesting. Can I ask if you use rinse aid? That will affect the cleanliness of the glass more than the detergent used. Oh, I've recently started using just 1/4 of a lucent globe sheet, which works well on lightly soiled plates etc.

The dissolvable plastic shells you’re referring to is PVA (poly vinyl alcohol). It is the exact same thing lucent globe also uses. They also make bogus claims such as bigger brands using phosphates. Choice has rated their sheets as 12%, the same rating as water alone. I’d love to see how water alone performs in a dishwasher.

Good info. I am no sponsored by Lucent Globe and have called them out on their mucho-inflated price per tablet claims. I might do a follow-up review with water alone. Sadly, they are made in China... BIG minus from me.

R u saying their sheets are actually made out of PVA ? Surely not ?!

@@kriminal012yes that is exactly what I’m saying. Go to their website and for the dishwasher sheets, check out the ingredients

Pretty sure it's the age old strategy of:
      Buy thing from alibaba
      Add marketing
      ???
      Profit.

disappointing hearing that it still has nasty chemicals, but surely you don't get the left over with those aldi tablets

Agree, everything does come out without any residue. Next I'll do a comparison with just water...

Nearly 3 hours of hot water and pressure spraying with out anything should clean the dishes. Who spends 2 hours to clean dishes. Were afamily of 4 and we wash our dishes at the end of the day it takes all of 10 to 15 mins to fill the sink and wash and dry. This is laziness and wasteful

Agree that just water alone will do 95%, but you need a sodium stearate or light caustic (detergent) to get the other 5% clean (grease or oils cannot easily be washed with water alone). So why use a dishwasher if you have to then pick and hand clean anyway? I always use minimum detergents (often only 25% of what manufacturers suggest) - I never pre-rinse, that's the dishwasher's job, and I run the dishwasher during the day, so solar pays for it, so it's just water cost and appliance depreciation.
