I really enjoy your videos being a mere beginner having mainly used 1:1 I am moving upto 2:1 macro, I struggle being less supple that older age brings and not having the best eyesight, but take heart watching your down to earth approach I am amazed that you make 5X mag photography look so easy! and love the way you don't talk down to us like some on here tend to
As usual top notch video mate. I always enjoy how you present them. Detailed, clear and easy to follow. Thanks from all the little creatures that you photograph for your caring nature. I’ve seen a bit of flack getting around on social media regarding the harming of insects just to get the perfect shot and likes etc. I’m 100% with you on that subject. Never really thought of photographing ants. Gonna give it a whirl. 👍
Little tip. Dont hold your breath, it makes you tense up. A tip I learnt from a wildlife photographer using large lenses. Try and take the shot when you are 2/3 to 3/4 breathed out. I know when you use a flash its not quite the same but the basics are similar. Hope this helps, keep up the good work.
Great video, I like your ideas for macro photography, very inspiring. Love the respect you have for those tiny, Little insects (although this should be a matter of course)
I always keep my backgrounds in the background ! Please keep the bloopers, I think we do need to have a laugh every now and then. I wonder who is launching at me when I'm laughing at you ? 📸
Good one today, I’ll need to go outside as ants are not allowed in the house. At Stratford upon Avon butterfly farm there a few leaf cutter ants. Enjoyable to watch and to photograph.
Great video, I have tried something similar. I put out an orange segment outside o a wooden hand rail and broke it up leaving a trail 5 or 6 hours later I return and found about 10 ants going around and capture a few shot. Great work
Hi Stewert , Loved the Video and iI can't wait to have a go at It. Also I have been on the Sight Looking at the T-Shirts , I liked them but unfortunately I can Only Wear the Polo Type ( Buttoned Neck ) this Is Because of an Health Issue. Do you think you would be Doing any T-Shirts using them at any time . Thanks Barry
Hi Stewart I'm new to macro and I loved the video. I bought a sigma 105 macro but probably need to buy a flash so do you have any suggestions that won't break the bank and would I need TTL or just a manual one. Thanks Sean
Great Video sir! I'm hoping I can get as comfy as you in front of the camera; I'm trying to make a Macro UA-cam Channel as well! (only have one video so far) Keep up the good work =]
Hi Stuart I’ve a 90d and bought a Laowa 100mm lens, getting into macro you might say, what flash would you go for for this set up, some advice would be really handy, I know the one you use is that still the way to go or would you go for something different. Regards Alan.
There's another Macro photographer on here, who while excellent, thinks nothing of gathering and gassing 100 insects on the off chance that he might find one to photograph. Even though he's very accomplished I think its disgusting tbh and to my mind you are a far better photographer for working within the limitations of not harming the animal.
@@StewartWoodArt I understand you perfectly even though English is not my mother tongue and I watch at 2x speed... I don't own a camera, but I love insects and I really enjoy macro photography. Thank you for the quality content. 😎
Dear, Can I have your email? I am looking for an inspiration to adapt a macro photography for one of my engineering projects. I have some questions if you don't mind answering them
Fantastic Stewart
Many thanks
The biggest like yet, for releasing the ant with a honeyfull stomach. Love your patience with the little critters.
Oh she was very happy :)

Give it a go, it's great fun. I'm all for not harming the subject when photographing them, no need to be honest.
Amazing video!
Thank you

Nice results. Will try it by myself someday
Give it ago, it's fun :)
Just re-watched this one as it has the crafty bell on the lens - I'm surprised (in a good way) how good it looks on the honey drop...
So good

I've seen them, I'm looking at getting my own leaf cutter ant colony :)

Glad it was helpful!
Pretty cool shots, I have to try that:)
Go for it!

Learn depth of field please!
Do you mean you want me to do a video about depth of field?
Thanks Steward for the tips, enjoyed your video. Can I ask what specimen bottles you use?
Very insightful video. Thanks. As a newbee to this kind of photography are you using AF or manual ?
would you be so kind to show a link, where one can get the mini tripod and the head you are using / I have tried for a couple of month but in vain
Love this! What lens did you use? Was the magnification a separate extension or part of your lens?
I used the Canon MP-E 65mm 1x - 5x times macro lens.
Hi Stewart. I have a very controversial question 🤔.
What do you think about killing insects for high mag photos or stacking? Thanks a lot.
Great Video sir! I'm hoping I can get as comfy as you in front of the camera; I'm trying to make a Macro UA-cam Channel as well! (only have one video so far) Keep up the good work =]
I'll take a look 😉
@@StewartWoodArt Too kind sir! And if you have any feedback or suggestions on the channel or how to grow, I'd love to hear it. Thank you =]

I would take a look at the Meike MK-MT24 Macro Twin Lite Flash, I'm looking to get one when my current flash fails.
Thanks bud I'll have a look, think I've seen it but thought a bit pricey, can't remember.
Thanks Al.
I have a question off topic from this video. Does using a 1:1 lens on a APS-C sensor change the 1:1 magnification then using on a full frame?
watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/QuJwfh4I9Rk/v-deo.html
Hi, just quick question, what do you think about eos rp fir macro? Ty
Seems a good camera but not used on myself. A great little entry-level full frame camera :)

Thank you, I don't see the point in harming the subject just to get an image. I'm not working for a scientific study for university.
Great video and very helpful, thanks. One question, did the ant start his own channel after his 5 mins of fame?
Hello Stewart bonjour
Hi :)
i have one problem.... i dont understand only 50% of ypour talk! Nice Video
Guess I'll have to improve my speach :)
