- What MLB Players Really Think Of Shohei Ohtani?
Shohei Ohtani is a Japanese professional baseball player currently playing for the Los Angeles Angels. Ohtani is an AL MVP, and the first man to be selected to the All-Star game twice as a pitcher and hitter. Shohei has left his fellow MLB players marveling at his consistency and ability to deal with the pressure. Some of his peers are in awe over his home run hitting, nasty pitches, two-way brilliance, and prowess on the base pads. Ohtani has earned the admiration of former MLB players, and his play is a motivation for current and future players.

I’vebeen an MLB fan since I was 8 and am now 75. I ‘ve seen the greats play. Shohei is phenomenal. He’s the whole baseball package.
wow that is insane i have the upmost respect for you as that kind of dedication is really hard to achieve
I'm a 77 year old and have been a Yankee fan since I was 7....I can unabashedly say that Shohei is my favorite player...I, of course like Aaron Judge, but he's got no Personality as he cannot accept any compliments for his prodigious accomplishments...it gets annoying after a while....
He also played the outfield in Japan, don't be surprised if one day he plays defense as well.
@@jeffw1390 pretty sure he played some outfield last year. The dude is a freak of nature. We’re lucky to get to witness.
@@stephenmaniloff437470 years a Yankee fan? Shame on you sir!!!!
Do you remember in the 90's when your fans were throwing D batteries at Griffey Jr while he was in the outfield? Maybe you were one of those fans?
I've saw plenty of Yankee fans online, spoiled brats that think they deserve a world series.
Maybe that's not you but I've saw plenty of them.
I'd be ashamed to be a fan of that team...... The Mariners suck but at least we as fans don't try to hurt players from other teams.
Yuck the fankees, I actually dislike them more than the Cheaters. All because of you fans.
As fan of Boxing, NBA, NFL. I tune into MLB only to watch this man. Totally mind blowing what he is able to do from the mound, hitting, and the base running.
NBA fan ? With these divas jumping teams . Nba is not ingesting anymore . But yea I only tune in mlb for Shohei
Lol i watch the exact same sports as you too and i only come to see shohei highlights for baseball. Pretty amazing stuff
@@BentleyVB funny you say that because when a GM does what he wants it’s considered a “buisness” but soon as a player does what he wants with his career they’re “divas” 😂 tell me again how that takes away from casual games?
Baseball is life
I’m glad your comment as a Japanese.
I like boxing too,do you know Naoya Inoue?p4p ranker.
This is a monster …(Mike Tyson)
I’m a 26 year old female from Boston. Never watched my own home team Red Sox despite their popularity and past success. Plus most Angel games are starting after 9pm on the east coast. Yet I am following this team, watching their games, or following along online for this man. He rightfully deserves the titles of face of the league, best baseball player and possibly best athlete.
Awesome comment - you remind us long-time Angels fans why we stick with this team and how fortunate we are to have Sho-Time
You’re probably Asian 🥴
"Best athlete" only an American would say this 😂😂😂. There are more sports than Baseball, Basketball, American Football and Hockey. All rounders aren't unheard of in cricket for example, plenty of MMA fighters who are as good on the ground grappling as they are on their feet striking, there are athletes that have transitioned between professional sports with ease and have continued competing at elite level, and let's not forget about triathlon, pentathlon and decathlon athletes.
The fact that there are many all rounders in cricket and mma make him even more special. The fact there is no one else doing what he is. There is only one guy in who can do at the highest level of baseball, the only one guy that's doing both shows how hard it actually is and the fact that he's doing extremely well in both just shows his calibre

I was grateful to witness his consecutive insane nights with the 8 RBIs and 13Ks!! It was absolutely insane!
Best 24 hour stretch in baseball history. You’re so lucky to see that in person. I was glued to my phone and couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
@@JurrasicPork Well said. The best back to back performance in the history of the game.
i never watched baseball in germany, we only watch European football. until we saw this asian man... now all my friends watch baseball... much love from germany!
A European watching an Asian man play American sports! A beautiful cross-over!
amen. @@skittles2
So many non-fans tune to watch baseball just for him, I never followed the sport but Sho made me watch it
he is not human... much love and respect from germany!
His ex-coach from Fighters swore there will NEVER be another baseball player better than Ohtani not just because of his ability to play baseball but because of his personality. He said Ohtani was just perfect in every way. He described Ohtani as a perfect human being with no flaws. 😂💕❤️ I think that’s the reason why Manual people love him. He is very respectful and super humble. 💖💖💖
Shohei is inspirational
I'm a long-time Japanese fan of his. What I want people who is getting to know him recently know is that he is not like a baseball robot who can do things perfectly with no efforts. He has struggled a lot through his career with injuries and having to make adjustments. But he kept trying new things with the efforts that most people cannot put on. His mentality is what I really admire.
Do you have new Dodgers hat and ohtani jersey🎉
Nice homage. Sad that you didn’t mention his outstanding gentlemanship. The perfect example for future and current MLB players.
Compared to jerks like the late Yordano Ventura Ohtani is a Saint.
Japanese people are so kind and caring. They show great respect towards others. Great culture!
@@D3L3T3 And even among the Japanese people, he's the remarkably humble and nice person. Especially, even at the moment that he is a super star not only in domestic but also worldwide ever!
Agree. Sport players should show their ego less and acting more like a good example to kids.
This is why the guy should be the MVP again this year, his numbers are not like last year but no one is even coming close to doing what he does. I know Judge has those HR numbers but Shohei does it all, every part of baseball he does, and is good to great at it.
As a fellow Japanese, I am proud of Shohei Ohtani.
From Okinawa, Japan.
Ohtani is the pride and hope of Japanese
Shohei Ohtani is just incredibly talented. Just incredible.
Shohei is one of those guys who is there when the pressure is on when you really need it that's when he's at his best. Like Magic Johnson Larry Bird. He is a superstar
I’ve been a shohei fan since he was in Japan but seeing all these records he’s shattering now really puts it into perspective that we’re watching a modern day legend. People in 40 years are gonna look back and wish they got to see him play.
The kid is special. I’m glad I got the chance to see him. Babe Ruth was before my time and I can say I saw 👀 some of the greats like Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Mickey Mantle and others but Shohei is a unbelievable athlete. I don’t know if he is the goat but he’s got to be in that conversation.
Wow you've seen so many legends, glad you got to see Shohei
It's good to be alive during Ohtani's era. And his success doesn't seem to have gone to his head. How long can this last? For a good long time I hope. Stay healthy Shohei.
Sho-time's steadfast humility embedded in the Japanese culture has nutured a teachable and coachable spirit to help grow and develop extraordinary skills in every area of his life. He's the face of MLB, sponsorships, community, a role model, and what the world needs more of ⚾️❤️🌎

What Shohei Ohtani controls in his 4 years in the MLB and his performance is already by far the best player in the entire history of the MLB in his first 4 years.
What Ohtani does NOT control is being on a team that supports him little or not at all, and that gives more value to his numbers and performance.
Thanks to life for allowing me to have seen and witnessed one of the best players in the entire history of MLB.
No doubt, the best MLB player of all time
#10 is Shohei’s greatest contribution to the sport of baseball, to inspire future generation, like the way Stephan Curry changes the sport of basketball.
He also attracts non-baseball fan to watch & interest in baseball.
The real ACE OF DIAMOND!
Ohtani is just the perfect player.
Top 3 pitcher, top 5 batter, great base running, and one of the best personalities you will see out of anyone in any sport.
Idk if he’s a top 5 batter
@@Superman30970He is currently.
#1 batter, top 5 pitcher
IMO, if you love baseball, you love Shohei
When Ohtani left Japn to come to MLB, there were many naysayers in HIS home country, who were legends of the game. Some who had seen him throughout his career said he should concentrate on pitching, and he might equal Nomo. Others criticized his batting style. Very few foresaw what he is doing today. Most said Ohtani should pick one or the other, not both. I say to all those naysayers, take a hike on a short pier. Ohtani is Captain Kirk of baseball, boldly going where no man has ever gone before.
I watch a lot of sports, but was never too into MLB until this guy turned up. We are truly living in the age of the GOATS.
the first MLB game I've ever attended was at angels stadium to see ohtani
To me as an ex-T&F athlete, Shohei Ohtani is like the absolute world Decathlon Champion who is now trying to break each world record of 100m sprint, high jump, Javelin throw and 1500m run, respectively, while competing decathlon in the Olympic games. What we're witnessing is almost paranormal.
Shohei is truly one of the kind.
The records he has been breaking and setting are incredible.
A living legend just walk out from the comics.
@bone-snypa
Do you watch actual baseball game?
Or you just fk around on the internet?
@bone-snypa 30 hrs and 10 pitching wins in the same season is a record. They'll be more.
I love his swing. The way he just coils up and lets it fly is a beauty to watch. Hopefully the Angels can get their shit together and help him and Trout get into the post season.
The greatest baseball player since Babe Ruth did both…but to do it into todays game is unbelievable! Just an amazing athlete.
@@jubgpodcast It is Babe Ruth because it was a completely different time then and this kind of thing was much harder to do and Babe Ruth was the only one who was doing it. I love Shohei and I call him the Babe Ruth of now.
@@jubgpodcast Trust me no one is a bigger Ohtani fan than I am ! However... Babe did it first. Doesn't matter how many times. The person who creates possibilities is the one who sets the bar for the culture, and therefore, he must be honored.
ruth never got to play the very BEST athletes, ohtani is levels above ruth
@@raarrrmagicat2354 nope SEGREGATED leagues dont count
@@rebeccaholsonback1538 You can’t compare the early 1900’s when Ruth played and today…100 years later. Remember Ruth hit more homers than TEAMS each year. He was one of a kind. He could have definitely pitched and hit at elite levels if they would have allowed it. They are both great players in different times. Ruth WAS baseball. Ohtani is carrying on his tradition.
At this time in his career, I rank him as the best baseball player of all time. Considering the level of talent in MLB these days Babe Ruth didn’t have the all around athleticism Shohei has. He’s unreal. Seeing him play in person, he runs the bases like a big cat in addition to his hitting and pitching skills. He’s the shit!
There's a reason writers wait 5 years after a player retires to decide whether or not a player is a HOF'er.
I don't see anyone anytime soon replacing Babe Ruth as the goat of all professional sports.
@bone-snypa
Ruth was bigger than Jordan, Montana, the patriots qb, forgot his name, oh, Brady, Nicholas in golf, etc... Go look at Ruth's stats, both hitting and pitching.
@bone-snypa You might just be an idiot! How was your batting average fool?
i'm amazed as a fan at what he's doing. I can't even imagine what it must be like for major leaguers to see.
He is following in the footsteps of Ichiro.... just totally immersed in game strategy and excellent execution of each play.... Asian focus.
I know he was doing it in Japan, but I want to see him play the right field. About a week ago he was practicing in the outfield and it looked good. He is definitely better than Adele.
Ohtani was an excellent outfielder in highschool years as well as in Japan's professional league. He is electric, fast responsive, and has strong arm to throw all the way from outfield back home like Ichiro (check UA-cam videos for Shohei's highschool and Nippon Ham/Fighters' outfielder clips) . During pitching, Shohei's defensive plays and quick responses show that Shohei can transfer immediately to be the best baseman once he leaves the mound.
HOWEVER, once Shohei got injured at outfield and that stopped him from pitching for a number of games. The Japan Fighters' coaches shut Shohei down from outfielder's work since then (because Shohei was seemed as one of the biggest Japanese treasures in human form and any injuries or failures in training occurred during playing in Fighters would be accused seriously by the Japanese public and the coaches had huge responsibilities in keeping Shohei in good health, though Shohei still got some major injuries at the end).
They probably don't want him to just because they don't want him blowing out his arm with some long throws.
He did play right field last year 2021 on the same day he also pitched
@@jasonthemagnificent2.0 Ohtani did at NL but the coaches ordered him not to do much and other teammates were so scared 😨 of him getting hurt that they tried to cover for him more and was kept watching Ohtani afraid of him getting hurt. So you can't really see the real great 👍 outfielder Ohtani like in Japan's videos.
@@boroughmanager7067 Ohtani is a very good singer and has a very beautiful singing voice. He sang songs for Angels teammates when they were traveling in bus long time ago.😉 Ohtani is also very good in dancing, he copied the M J backsliding dance at Fan's Service Performance stage.
I guarantee any poll of players asking them who THEIR favorite player to watch is, 99%+ are gonna say him. This game is their whole life, and they know better than anyone just how absurdly difficult pitching OR hitting is. They are likely as awestruck or more than we fans are
I like how game respects game. These are all professional players and his peers at the top of the game, yet they all respect what he's doing.
He’s like a manga hero! He’s the best. He’s cute, he is kind, he’s generous! I don’t see any weak points. Oh, the only his weak point would be that he does’t have one!
Shohei Ohtani😍😍😍
I enjoy hearing what other current and former MLB players are saying about the phenomenon that is Sho-Time. He's been a powerful energizing force for the MLB game in the US and overseas as fans tune in to see what this amazing athlete can do. My only criticism of this video is that too often the narration is describing something that is not in the video clip at that time. (And, smaller point, the narrator refers to pitches including a sinker. But Shohei didn't start featuring a sinker until late August or early Sept. I think the narrator meant to say splitter, not sinker.) Still, thanks for offering this collection of Ohtani accomplishments and accolades.
What Shohei is doing makes him the best ever.
@bone-snypa I’m thinking about what he’s doing from both sides of the game. I get your point though. I think the most overlooked period of greatness was when Rodgers Hornsby averaged over .400 for 5 straight seasons. Now I hear that Cease has given up 1 or less runs in 14 straight games. A MLB record. Baseball is amazing.
GOAT
Shohei is my number one search for my daily fix of ANYTHING about Shohei Ohtani on YT... enough said.
I've been a Babe Ruth fan since I was a kid. My 2 cuzns play professional. I was a 4 time league MVP. Let me tell u. This guy is a living legend. Like a modern day Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle. A pitcher that can hit like him. Just legendary
He is just totally awesome makes me happy to see his talents Epic !! ❤shoeing Otani❤
I already consider him in the top 10 best player ever. But if he averages 10 win a year as a starter and 25-30hr as a hitter, he might be the best ever.
Yes, as a huge fan of Ohtani, I definitely think he can win both!
Ohtani > Judge
Great video and great job researching for this video! Keep going!
In reference to Ohtani's mastery of baseball I think it was Joe Madden that said you could put him in the outfield and he'd be one of the best outfielders in the game. If you add up all his abilities - hitting, pitching, base-running, base-stealing, fielding his position - I think he has to be considered the greatest player ever. There isn't any player past or present - that can or could do - what he is doing.
only ohtani can do that kind of talent no one else can do that ☺️☺️☺️ohtani the real MVP👍🇵🇭🇯🇵🇵🇭🇯🇵☝️💕💕💕
I don’t normally watch baseball. Been watching him though.
Last season was unreal. Vladdy Jr could have won the Triple Crown and would still have been a distant 2nd place for MVP.
He's a very solid hitter, if he was just a hitter. He would just be considered a above average player but with him being a very good pitcher also. That's the amazing part. He's goes from being a above average hitter to the best hitting pitcher since babe ruth. Crushing 40 homers and throwing 100 mph is very impressive.
The guy doesn't take ANY battling practice because he'll be too tired to do both. Imagine if he dedicated all his energy to just hitting ...
He's a way better hitter than you think ... just like he's a way better pitcher than you think ...
@@RunForPeace-hk1cu I was wondering what this guy was trying to say as well.
YOU hit the nail on the head.
@@louismeloche3857 He thinks Ohtani is average. Not a good hitter and not a good pitcher.
@@Mwoods2272 thanks, my question was rhetorical. I'm sure he'd be playing if all he did was hit or only pitch. Do you think he's just so-so ?
@@louismeloche3857 My bad, I think Ohtani is a once in a lifetime player. It's been almost 100 years since we have seen a player like him and maybe won't see another for another 100 years.

Don't want to even hear about "Ruth", this man is playing against top tier players defensively and offensively brewed to do one thing and is to play baseball. Glad to be able to witness this talent.
Ohtani is literally a road to the show myplayer
I remember first hearing about him when he broke the japanese record for the fastest pitch then a few weeks later I see him doing HR and I had to check again because I thought I misread the news or something because there’s no way a pitcher is a also a DH… Ever since I tried to follow him.

Will shohie for my openion every year always vote for mvp beacuse im ixciting watching this guys amazing this talent
He's surpassed Ruth's 1rst season stats, so IMO he's going to be the GOAT.

Who is here after 2023 WBC?
A sports fan of any sport has to want to see this man play two Positions a picture and a batter in baseball does not exist this man does he’s awesome to just see the replays of his batting and his pitching his pitching has some nasty curveballs nasty pitching throughout the whole game.
I honestly think Shohei Ohtani should play for New York Mets with Aaron Judge if possible.
it might take another 100 years to see another of his like....
Shohei Ohtani is the GOAT but doesn't get enough credit because he's on a west coast losing team. IF he was on the Yankees or Red Socks where most of media is located he would be raised to the same level of Tom Brady.
Amazing video.

It's been a year since I started watching baseball.i love the game very much. I'd love to play the game in my backyard one day. For now I just got to do with the wall 😂😂.All because of shohei.
If continues this for a decade hes probably the greatest player who ever lived
Ohtoni is one of a kind players. No mbl players have his skill set. He is doing thinks never been done before mbl. I am awe of his greatness and being so humble. He is a class person and his parents really raised him correctly.
Shohei Ohtani has been committed to being the best baseball player that he can be, since childhood. Players like Shohei come around so in frequently, it is a pleasure to watch and admire his amazing Abilities on the field. Shohei is courteous, has a sense of humor and shows respect and receives it from everyone he comes in contact with. His parents raised him to be a Gentleman, and it shows!

but only thing that makes me stop all other sports except ⚽, is this MAN - SHOTIME.. 🌟👍🏻🌟
I only watch Ohtani's games now, cuz he's so good plus he's funny and entertaining on and off the field
This pony the reason I started watching baseball
This year he was a top 5 hitter and a top 3 pitcher. 140 ops+ /172 ERA +. He has only played 4 seasons and already has 25 WAR. He's already a HOF now
Cy Young and MVP in same season. That just blew my mind thinking about that.
かっこいい
He should have the both awards. Deserve it
We're in a great era for baseball.
Between Ohtani and Jacob DeGrom, it's unreal what is happening.
DeGrom can't run the bases as well, or hit the long ball as well, but he is a better pitcher, and a great batter as well.
The 2 of them are just incredible to watch.
yes for me i vote for shohie otani for mvp absulotely amazing verry fun to watch

With his speed, bunting is a natural from the right side of the plate. He should do it more often.
I'm not going to hate on this video because it is amazing! But, sometimes when you are speaking it gets quieter so I turn my volume up and then a bit later I hear an announcer screaming into my ear about an Ohtani fabulous play. Keep up the great work though!
Glad you enjoyed the video 5loths and thank you for the feedback, this will help us improve the quality for you. You're a champ! 🙏⚾👊
the greatest player ever...
This dude is a modern day version of Babe Ruth not only is he a great picture but he is an outstanding hitter very rare especially since I'm bringing up Babe Ruth's name cuz he's the last pitcher to do what Otani is doing! And Babe Ruth still holds the record for the best winning percentage for pictures who have over 100 wins! That is still a major league baseball record to this day! That's insane!
When you look up the definition of baseball ol Webster and wiki had to rewrite it and add ohtani’s name in it somewhere 😜
He is the fairytale people hear about!🙌
Haters are always there.
What a shame.🤭
Who’d ever thought we’d be talking about Angels player that’s not Mike Trout.
