Congrats to you guys on another win! You matched my team (DR) as the only undefeated champions. I want to recognize the other guys on team Japan too, the whole pitching staff was incredible. And they all threw nasty split fingers. I especially was impressed by Taisei Ota. He had the great side arm delivery that when he threw the split you really had to get low to the ball if you didn’t want to roll over or just miss it, especially for taller guys. I think he struck out Trout and Goldschmidt with that side arm split that started at the knees and fell off the table

As amazing as Ohtani was (and like Shannon says, better than advertised, better than imagined, no matter how good you thought he was going to be he is better), let's give some credit to the Japanese pitching. They held a lineup full of of unquestionable future Hall of Famers to 2 runs
We can talk about how America didn't bring pitchers, which is true. But they definitely brought the best hitters in the game, and Team Japan had a crew of guys in their young 20s making them whiff at cutters all day. That was pretty incredible to watch

Total agreement! Japan throws the nastiest split fingers. Watching the Final game made me wonder something though, when Japanese pitchers come to the States and stay for years like Yu Darvish for example, what kind of lack in coaching philosophy and approach are they missing? By that I mean, Japan has a different baseball philosophy than the US so when a Japanese player is getting trained under a new philosophy does that change their capabilities? I felt it was dangerous to bring Darvish in when they did Bc the US had so much familiarity and I wasn’t surprised when Schwarber hit that bomb. I wonder if they stuck with a guy who plays in Japan in the 8th if they wouldn’t have given up another run. Of course in the end it didn’t matter but still questions I thought about.

Shannon does his homework too on other sports not football/basketball related. They just don’t have many topics on other sports like baseball, because that won’t get the clicks that unnecessary topics about the Lakers & Cowboys will. The younger generation, who is a good chunk of the audience is way more likely to tune into a topic on “how something will affect a basketball/football star’s legacy” than baseball topics. That being said, much credit to them for doing segments on this every once in a while! It’s good for the show, while still maintaining ratings. They’re excellent at what they do!
