Mine is coming tomorrow! This is a HUGE upgrade for me, since my current model is still the BP110 Power (which I honestly never liked compared to my first processor, the BP100, and rarely used it for my SSD). My insurance company fought against the upgrade for almost 6 months, and I am finally getting it tomorrow! This is a great video; I will remember to be patient with the transition and communicate clearly with my audiologist so we can make adjustments as needed.
i’ve had them since March, same issues as yours… Finally tried again to do the sound adjustment and did realize that (duh) my hearing is very different from each ear. so i did what i could, still trying to figure out how to adjust the treble and bass, but yes much better WHEN THEY DONT cut out or off loud noises that I WANT TO HEAR ! thanks again for your video i was really ready to give up.
Thank you so much for all the great info. I'm getting my first bone conducting processor the Baha 6 . Born with one functioning good left ear and a full functioning ear drum on the right with bone closed opening. I am 57.I went in to check some tinnitus issues and found I had better hearing in my closed ear verses my open one. It was 98 % on right and 72 on left. Knowing I could do this brought tears to my eyes to be able to hear stereo and conversations clearly for the first time in my life. Thank you again!
Right back at you, Don. Thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your journey. I'm humbled to know that modern technology is able to change lives. I hope it will continue to enrich yours! Welcome to the BAHA family 🤠
As a senior (73) and with over 40 years using a hearing aid I’m excited about this new technology. I’m going to see my GP to get a referral to be tested for a Baha 6 max. To be able to hear again would be fantastic. Thanks for your insight and knowledge. This is a great video.
This is a fantastic video! We are getting the Cochlear Osia 2 implant soon. While this is a slightly different product, we are hopeful for similar results! Thanks for making these videos!
From where I previously lived, the audiologists kept telling me that I qualify for a CI, but I stayed with my HAs for a while longer. When my HAs no longer worked for me, I wanted the CI and they all started telling me that I do not and will not ever qualify for the CI. Then my audiologist would only crank up my HAs louder and louder that ended up hurting me instead of helping me. All I can hear at this point is high pitch sounds, so my HAs being cranked up to the max were amplifying those sounds horrendously. I am very sensitive to high pitch sounds and get headaches to migraines from them. So, I stopped wearing them completely. I could no longer wear my HAs and no doctor would allow me to get CIs. I ended up moving and just went to my new audiology appointment yesterday, and I am hopeful and excited. My audiologist explained that yes HAs do not work for me anymore, but I am not quite ready for CIs yet. But, there is another device that I am a great candidate for, and it is the BAHA 6. I got to demo one and I fell in love. I could hear voices down the hallway, people moving around, and I could hear my audiologist loudly and clearly. I have severe to profound hearing loss, and the BAHA would bring my hearing loss to mild and moderate. I now have to wait for my appointment with the surgeon to discuss it and give me full approval to get them. I cannot wait and I was a little sad when I had to take the demo off and realized how quiet everything is again.
Thank you for such an in depth review. i am wearing a demo model of the Cochlear Baha 6 Max. I am deciding between this and the Oticon Ponton 5. Do you have a review on that too. Thank you.
I'm not sure why it didn't hit me to look up reviews on the BAHA till now, I'm just finally got approved for the baha 6, going from the baha 4. I'll be getting the baha 6 hopefully soon, so this review was very helpful!
Thank you for this video - it's EXACTLY what I've been going through - received my Baha6 Max (magnetics (2)) in "March" and like YOU the sounds - I MISS hearing 'everything' also - finally made an appointment with Apple to see if it's a phone problem - been to the audiologist numerous times or emailed complaints. It hurts when I go to 'meeting' movies etc. With the sound quality awful! Tomorrow I have an appointment with Apple to see if it IS a iPhone problem and/or if I should upgrade to another newer apple phone that may be more compatible with these Baha6's .... So thank YOU again - now I can send your video to my audiologist (save it to my phone?) to show Apple Tomorrow - your video says it ALL for me. So thank YOU again - stay Cool this summer....
I’m still wearing the Baha 5 and when I ordered my new Baha 6 and now it doesn’t fit my abutment. I’m 23 so I have the old fitting. I am very upset to say the least because this Baha 5 I have is about to give out. I am very happy to hear your review. To see that you do like the Baha 6. Does it actually fit your abutment with the extended snap?
Great, thorough review. Thank you for the information. Your deafness is far more advanced than mine. I am unilaterally deaf in my right ear. I am sure the quality of sound is much more noticeable to you. I do have some complaints on my BAHA 5. Mostly in that it sounds tinny or like someone is talking through a can. I appreciate it though, as I can hear much better wearing it and it keeps my own volume in check. I am not yelling at people anymore. I have been wanting to check into getting a BAHA 6 for the better sound quality and I was under the impression that it would be able to connect directly to an android just like Apple does on the 5. It sounds like you still have to use the mini mic. though. Can you clarify if I will be able to stream direct?
Thanks for subscribing and watching my videos! I've been impressed by the streaming quality of the BAHA 6. I can wirelessly connect to my android phone and stream music/podcasts on the fly without using an extra accessory like a phone clip or a mini mic. I can easily toggle on the BAHA smart app the volume in and around me. I can even mute my surroundings so music is all I hear.
Thank u for sharing this. I was also born with no ears. I currently have the baha5max going on 3 yrs now and I'm not a huge fan of it. I had it reprogram several times. I notice I hear better without the auto noise adjustment feature turn off because I notice soon I hear the tv or radio the sound level turns too low after few moments. I'm also replacing the battery every 4 days. I plan on seeing a dr again about seeing If I can upgrade to the baha6. Thank u again for your informative review.
This is my third year with BAHA 6 Max. My initial experience was like yours, clear high pitched letters of speech and pin drops. Bat sounds are so clear too! I had my first BAHA 3 few years back. However, BAHA 6Max solved few problems I had with the previous generations, particularly with deteriorating rubber and thin layer of latex around the pin of attachment to the abutment. BAHA6M doesn't have that problem. In addition, you're right to mention its battery consumption efficiency, my best period was 10 days in spite of my use of workshop tools and loud home cinema! What I am really hoping for in the near future is a remotely chargeable and water proof BAHA ? Supreme fully equipped with auto-streaming from smart TV's and projectors so as not to disturb early birds when they go to bed. How about the facility of transmitting to your phone with recording function as well ...... what do you think, or shall I say one could record their thought ideas by "talking to them self loud" ;) Thank you for your greatly helpful review 🤗
Now you're thinking. Has cochlear hired you for R&D yet? I would love a waterproof BAHA.. splash proof doesn't really cut it when cochlear implants and other devices have more protection. Glad to hear the 6 max is treating you well
Hey! I'm thinking of doing a video update soon. I'm over half a year in with the device and there's things I like: Bluetooth, music quality but things I also don't like: whistling. Stay subscribed for an update soon!
There’s 2 sizes for the abutment extender. My audiologist recommended to use the large one, just a couple mm more, because it’s better avoiding feedback due to friction between the device and the skin after so many years, in my case 20. I’m hopefully getting mine in a month. Could you give us a comment how did it go with after all? Thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you! I can, indeed. I use the mini mic or the multi mic. Both works. I find the Wireless mini mic to be better on the PC so there's no audio lag when watching movies.
Hi, I just came here almost 5 years, I was about to get a Baha implant that I'm so nervous if it causes a local skin infection. Could you tell me more about it? Thank you for this video so informative!
Hi! Thanks for subscribing. Skin infections will happen from time to time. Crusting and oozing will as well. The abutment is a foreign object and our bodies reject foreign things. But when it's kept clean infections should not occur often!
Good video. I am in the process of being screened for the Baha. I am deaf in my right ear due to surgery of a tumor. Im excited to see if this is a good fit for me.
Thank you for your kind comments about me being an eloquent speaker. You're a star! I give it a 3.5/5. The technology is great. I love the Bluetooth connectivity and the app is fine. The feedback drives me crazy still and can't seem to fix it.
My audiologist is kind of all over the place and it was kind of frustrating to get it set up. She didn't even tell us there's an app to control the volume and the program. If you need ideas or have a chance, I would love a tutorial for dummies on connecting to androids. I assumed it wasn't possible. It's kind of hard for me to understand if things are working because my 3 year old is still learning to speak plus she doesn't have a basis of comparison (this is her first one). Also, if anyone got their baha 5 fairly recently, I was told cochlear will upgrade you to 6 for free.
Hello! To connect an android device to BAHA 6, you need a mini mic or a multi mic. In the future, when there's native connection with the LE Bluetooth, it should seamlessly connect like it does with an Apple device. Hope it goes well with you, the audiologist and your child! It's an exciting time 😉
@@LetThereBeEars I just got my baha 6 today and can connect directly to android. That was the main reason I opted for the 6. I streamed this video to it too 😁. Thanks for the great videos
Congratulations!! You must have one of the LE Bluetooth compatible phones. I use one that is not compatible, at the moment, so I can stream directly. Thanks for streaming my voice directly to your BAHA. How does it sound? 🤠
I got my second Baha, the 5 Power in 2017 and wasn't very happy with it. It finally broke last year and I've just gotten approval from my insurance to upgrade to the Baha 6 Max. According to an email I received from Cochlear yesterday I should have my new Baha 6 Max in a couple of weeks. Right now I am without a processor and it's not a good way to deal with everyday conversations. I am totally deaf on one side and the hearing in the other ear is declining. I have high hopes for the new processor!
I have implant right ear (wear a BAHA5 on that ear) and have Ménière's disease on the left which is causing hearing loss. Cochlear tells me I will have to pay $5000 for the upgrade. I have Blue Shield of CA and pay $1,200 a month. Received a letter only 2 years after my surgery that the 5 is discontinued. I've had a very difficult time dealing with Cochlear. My research found that in the past they had to pay a $880,000 fine for getting kick backs. It was a whistle blower case. I really don't trust them now and all of their "advertising" so called thrilled customers. I think these people are paid for their so called "I'm so happy with my new 6" Was this guy paid??
Is there a reason you went with the cochlear abutment rather than the oticon Medical abutment, it being compatible with all cochlear and oticon Medical devices?
I am curious did you ever have the option to get a bone bridge and go with the Osia 2 fully implanted instead of the BaHa abutment? Research suggest that an abutments are prone to infections and the over all quality isn’t as good as a bone bridge which are fully implanted.
You're spot on! Abutments are prone to infections because our bodies reject it. I have appointments to see an ENT to explore options for the Osia. I'm unsure at the moment but we'll see what the future holds!
Very nice review and comments. It seems like the BAHA 6 Max phone compatibility page is very old for Android phones. I'm glad to see it lists my Pixel 3a. Oddly, it doesn't list anything newer than the Pixel 4/4a/4XL. Has anyone had direct connection working with newer android devices?
Thanks for subscribing! One thing I'm a bit bummed out about cochlear is the lack of updates for Android users. The first wireless connections were made for the Apple iPhones. My audiologist at one time told me to switch operations systems to get the most use out of the cochlear products! Many years later, I'm still waiting for native connection because I'm using an Android phone that they do not support ..
I just got the new baha 6. I have to wait for my audiology apt next week before I can wear them. I am not a fan of the Baha 5 hopefully this will help me better. The baha 6
@@MAWhite-ez3mm congratulations!! I'm so happy for you. Enjoy the wireless features. You chose a great colour. The perfect conversation starter with a flair 🌈
Could you elaborate more about your experience with Android devices - do you have ASHA-compatible Android Phone one which allows you to stream audio directly via Bluetoothwithout using phone clip or minimic? I'm currently on upgrade-path to BAHA 6 Max and wondering about what my next phone will be accordingly, really looking to get rid of the phone clip if I can avoid it
Hi there! Thx for following the channel. If you have compatible smart devices, you should be able to connect without pairing it to a phone clip or mini mic. This is the compatibility list: www.cochlear.com/apps/en/sound-processor-and-app/compatibility
Just curious, did the audiologist refer to your baha 5 program to adjust your baha 6? I feel like if the programming is similar, the audio should feel similar.
Great question! We did copy the profiles but because the new processor captured a lot of the high frequencies, my profile from the 5 was not a good fit for the 6. So we basically had to start over. I still hear feedback from time to time when I tilt my head. It's strange and can't seem to figure it out.
@@LetThereBeEars I had a trial demo one which I connected, and now I've my own one - so it has changed. I just needed to add the new serial number. It's annoying if I can't
Update, went to Apple this morning, they say my phone is doing ok, well then why is it my “message” app (I set on Bark so I can hear it) not “barking at me anymore? Also, to you, the author, did you finally give up and send them back for replacement? I’m seriously considering doing this.
any chance youve worn the Divino or the model before the divino? if so are u able to compare the sound quality? i cant change over to the 4 or 5 because i find the divino to be superior in sound quality.
Yes I have! It's night and day. It will take you time to get used to especially with the new wireless options. Before I switched sound processors, I always found my existing processors to sound better. In one of my videos, I talk about how it took me time to get used to the Baha 6 and occasionally went back to the Baha 5. I think you'll love the new Baha's if you give it time!
@@LetThereBeEars what do u mean night and day? is the quality better? i couldn't get used to what i feel is poorer suppressed quality sound with the 4 & 5 it just wasn't comparable to the divino.
I was just told yesterday that the baha would be a great option for me since I have always worn the headband bone conduction.. I'm kinda nervous though I'm worry about the pain after the surgery.. was it bad? I've heard it not but I've also heard it painful..
Wonderful news that your audiologist recommended the BAHA to you. Pain varies. Most of the pain I endure now are from infections. It's important to keep the area around the abutment clean. If you can do that, there's no pain!
Do your research before you decided because the BAHA abutment is NOT interchangeable. Some are if in the future you don't want to be stuck with no choice but BAHA processor. I regret not knowing this. CoChlear America locks you in.
Thanks for your video, very informative and I agree with lots of what you said. I’ve had my 6 Max for about a month now and still getting used to it. Have you any advice on how to customise “favourite” programs in the app? I have set up a few for different hearing situations without much success (home/ family for conversation, classroom, TV, shopping centre) but I struggle with adjusting the bass, middle and treble to suit. I just work with trial and error and don’t really understand what I’m doing. A video on this would be super helpful if this was something you know how to do.
Thank you for following! I usually toggle between two programs: my daily + wireless. I keep my settings the same so I can get used to the environment. I find that I have a harder time than others when I use multiple settings. I do find, when I was playing with it, the lower the bass, the lower the echo I sometimes hear!
Well the website says from $750-$1,000 but that is misleading. The full cost is $5,995 I just called yesterday and got that estimate. Then they say it depends on what your insurance will pay. However insurance hardly pays anything. I can't afford the upgrade and even though I pay $1,660 a month premium my insurance isn't really any help. I don't like my 5 and really skeptical about the 6 being worth that much money. It is hard to find honest reviews.
@Let There Be Ears - My son is 18 months old and using BAHA 5 with Softband from last 1 year. We observe constant feedback from the device, had a replacement but the feedback started again after few months. We tried reducing volume from app and frequent de-moisturizing but didn't help much. Kindly suggest, is there any way to resolve it.
Hi there! Thanks for subscribing and following my videos. Is there any other objects near the device? If not, can you check the abutment is clean without any debris? Sometimes debris causes the unstable connection and cause feedback.
What I really want is to have baha connecting to PC. I have hearing aid connected to PC (listed in Devices and Printers or Device Management under Bluetooth). But the problem is, it doesnt play sound thru my hearing aid. This is Bluetooth LE(Low Energy) device which should be able to work. Any ideas how to work this thing??
Great question. I have never ever connected the BAHA to a PC without first using a mini mic or the multi clip. Both act as a conduit. Perhaps that's what you're missing? I know Bluetooth LE works on some devices but have not seen it work on a PC before
@@LetThereBeEars currently I use Bluetooth device to hook my hearing aid and pc to communicate together. Also tried mini mic 2 as well. But maybe I can look into Bluetooth Le perhaps have app create it to serve the function :/. Thank u for the reply. :)

I had the surgery in the early 2000s. At the time, all BAHAs worked and fortunately it still does!
Thank you for the closed captions.
You're welcome!
Many years later, I'm still waiting for native connection because I'm using an Android phone that they do not support ..
works fine on my pixel 6.. its just a bluetooth connection.. everything will work
I just got the new baha 6. I have to wait for my audiology apt next week before I can wear them. I am not a fan of the Baha 5 hopefully this will help me better. The baha 6
Congrats! Hope the new Baha 6 is treating you well. I still hear lots of echoes
I had that same issue my ent doc had to go back in and shave my skull down
How did it go???
Wonderful
I'm wearing baha divino for like 8 years? And in 2024 I'm getting the 6 max. That will be one big update lol
It is! Good luck and tell me how it goes with all the new bells and whistles in the BAHA 6
Soy de Panamá el BAHA 6 max me ha costado 2500 usd cuanto te ha costado a ti??
Por alguna razón que no entiendo lo venden en precios diferentes. El precio que tú pagaste es el más bajo que he visto o escuchado. Saludos.
Good work
What size (color) does the Baha 6 max use? I get my processors on 10/28. I can’t wait!!!
What size BATTERIES does it use? 🙄🙄
Hey! It's 312
@@LetThereBeEars thank you. 312s are what my present hearing aids use!!! I have 2 more packages to make it to the 28th!!!
I got my beautiful mint green bahas and I LOVE them!!!! I’m still amazed at all the things I can hear!!!! Thank you for all your information!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
How can I change the serial number on the Baha app? I've got the said aid. Thanks.
I don't think you can unless you get a new baha
@@LetThereBeEars I had a trial demo one which I connected, and now I've my own one - so it has changed. I just needed to add the new serial number. It's annoying if I can't
Update, went to Apple this morning, they say my phone is doing ok, well then why is it my “message” app (I set on Bark so I can hear it) not “barking at me anymore? Also, to you, the author, did you finally give up and send them back for replacement? I’m seriously considering doing this.
I sure did. On like the third replacement already
any chance youve worn the Divino or the model before the divino? if so are u able to compare the sound quality? i cant change over to the 4 or 5 because i find the divino to be superior in sound quality.
How much does it cost the bagha 6 max?
Hey! It's roughly 5200-5500 in Canada
@@LetThereBeEars thanks for the answer. Here in Perú its about 19000 dollars the baha 5. I think I would have to get it somewhere like Canadá.
No tendrías que comprarlo, te lo debe dar tu eps
We have also ordered baha 6 max for our child. We have paid RS 7 lakh 4 thousand nepalese of our baha 6 max.
There’s no app for android?
WHERE CAN I BUY IT AND WHAT IS THE PRICE OF THE HEARING AID?
Hi! You'll have to connect with your audiologist to get the price of a hearing aid.
How much does it cost?
out of pocket $5,995
@@charisfitchett5703 We have been able to buy it our baby. It has been 3 months. Now he understands and speaks a few words. it cost $5363
Thank you!
Do your research before you decided because the BAHA abutment is NOT interchangeable. Some are if in the future you don't want to be stuck with no choice but BAHA processor. I regret not knowing this. CoChlear America locks you in.
Wow exlent
I have baha 6 but tomorow I Change to Cochlear Osia, having problems with the abatments, maybe this is a Solution for you too.
I hope your change to the Osia went well. It's definitely on my radar as well.
@@LetThereBeEars now waiting for the time to pass to activate, let you know the difference all the best Andreas
What’s full price for Baha 6 Max? I can’t find price nowhere online? Anyone in comment if you know the costs, please respond. Thanks In Advance
Anyone have a copy of the baha 6 fitting software?? .. im on day 2 and already want to reprogram it myself
Only the audiologists have it. I wish I have access to it too!
a newer bluetooth adapter might be needed for your computer
