I am an Ibanez RG guy all my life, and I'm totally agree with you - I don't like the Ibanez's current product development policy at all. They've been looking somewhere in the wrong direction for about ten years now. I've never liked ESP guitars, but I admit that their product development policies are probably one of the best in the guitar world.

I bought an LTD M-200FM about 10 years ago, lower model, sold it shortly after, then moved on to be a Jackson nerd, and have two limited ones that I’ll never get rid of. A few months ago I bought an LTD Koa TE-1000 with the Evertune and stainless steel frets, amazing guitar!! Last month I got a scratch and dent EC-1000 with a Floyd and stainless steel frets from Sweetwater, flawless and not sure why it was a scratch and dent, and again an amazing guitar!! I’m really loving the quality and features at a nice price point! Really loving the stainless steel frets!! With that, I think I’m going to have some other guitars that will find new homes to make room for ESP 😃😄

I’m still waiting on a EII I ordered over 2 freaking years ago!!! I had heard they are not putting out an ell series this year cause they are so far behind. I mean I’m still going to wait for it, cause the price on the tb7 I ordered has went from 1899 to 2500. So luckily my guitar was ordered at the 1899 price and they are honoring it. But it’s been 2yrs and 4 months I’ve been waiting on it!

And yes sir, I’m a huge Eclipse fan, I’ve owed every model they released at one time, 256, 401, and 1000, now I’m down to the EC200, EC256, and the EC Black Metal, I installed a Fishman modern in, other 2 modded of course! I love my 1000 series guitars, I own 3 now. I’ve been collecting old early 2000s LTD H series recently. I have an ‘01 H-301, an ‘02 H-202, and an ‘05 H-400. All of them are fantastic, made in Korea, excellent guitars.

This line-up so far looks promising! I really liked the M-1001 satin black and the Viper-1000 vintage black. I’m a sucker for gold hardware too. And those two look gorgeous! And I loved that 7-string Arrow-1007. It’s wonderful with the Evertune! The only thing I’m a little bit disappointed is the fact that there are no ltd basses except from the two signatures. I liked the Leon’s sig! It’s beautiful! But I’d preferred it more as a 5-string.. And I’m wishing for years now to see a 5-string M model bass but it seems we won’t get any of that this years too.. Anyway the line-up so far seems really promising. I’m looking forward for the rest. And I hope you will do a similar video when the rest of the line-up is revealed! 😉

I bought that Arctic Metal 7 based off your review and I do agree that I’d put a black Fishman in it but other than that it’s a fast and sick guitar👊🏻💀 ltd is my go to 🤘🏻
Unfortunately, it seems LTD have lost their way a little.
Back in 2008, when I was an actively stage-performing musician, my Indonesian (!) made black EC-401 was an absolute beast. It wasn't perfect, with that grayish hardware and the brown fretboard, but it went through years of abuse and served me superbly well in the studio despite all the thrashing it got.
In the past ~12 years, I bought mostly into E-II and some old ESP labelled Standard Series instruments, and they are bloody amazing. Outstanding quality, absolute workhorses, beautiful woods and flawless craftsmanship. I find it a bit weird that e.g. a 3.500€ instrument doesn't have a nitro finish, but it doesn't bother me that much.
Then I recently bought a few LTD Deluxes, you know, "to have something to play around the house", because of my fond memories of my previous LTD EC-401. And what can I say, apart from "I was disappointed".
The Fishman pickups are universally trash. I don't like their sound on any of the guitars I own that have them. The fretboards are brown and streaky, not as black as the promotional images claim. I could see knots in the wood (on the backs) with transparent finishes. Even with opaque finishes, I could see seams where the body wings were glued to the neck, and the lacquer was so thin that I could actually feel them. One of them came with a rattling tuner nut, another came with an empty 9V battery, one had a metal knob hat loosely flying around in the cardboard. The M-1000HT had frets so sharp it (literally) cut the skin on my fingers when I played. A few (yes, a few, not even "just one"!) of the frets were not hammered in correctly, there was air between the fret wire and the fretboard, constantly got my finger caught. There were finish imperfections (like paint on the bindings, or even the fretboard) and the transition between finished and non-finished areas (i.e. back of neck) were SO strong that the bump distracted me while playing. The necks and intonation etc. were not even remotely correct for standard E tuning.
I mean, if this had been a single 300€-400€ beginner instrument, it would have been great quality and "what can you expect for the money", yes. But let's not forget, these were 1.500€+ "LTD Deluxe" brand flagship top-of-the-line models, and several of them. Meaning: it's not an isolated case, but a tendency, and it's not just the cheap entry-level stuff.
This is Gibson "made in USA" money.
This is Fender "made in USA" money.
You pay that kind of money for "made in Indonesia" guitars that quite obviously never received a factory setup nor underwent any quality control whatsoever. Absolute trash. And yes, most of the LTD Deluxe models are now made in Indonesia, the cheapest and shoddiest of all LTD manufacturing countries.
All LTD do nowadays is pump out as many off-the-belt objects fulfilling certain well-selling feature requirements at high price tags, resting on their laurels of yesteryear. All they care about is the spec sheet, "does it have the fancy new pickup brand", "does it have the reversed headstock", "does it have an amazing (but cheap veneer) top", "does the vibrato say 'Floyd Rose' (even if it's the trash Korean version)", "is the bridge a Hipshot", "Is the nut by GraphTeq", etc.
They don't build instruments for the love of building instruments anymore.
They build feature-packed quality-agnostic product to generate income.
That's all. And you can definitely feel it.
Had you asked me 10+ years ago if I would recommend LTD guitars, I would have answered "yes" without hesitation.
Today ... not anymore.

Also the E2s are a very quality guitar, have an Arrow E2 no trem with EMGs 81 and 85 in it, black and grey fade. Absolute beast of a guitar. My luthier, who has worked with King Gizzard guys was even impressed by it.

That Viper 1000 looked killer. I have a ec 1000 that I absolutely love. Picked up a ec-256 for dirt cheap. Put some Emgs in it and it plays and sounds amazing. Esp and Ltd make amazing instruments. That Bartione guitars are great addon to this year line-up. I'm kinda dissapointed when manufacturers are still doing that 25'5 7string guitars nonsense. Downtuned guitars need longer scales to work properly so it's good to see that ERG guitars are getting more and more recognition. Cool video mate ! Thanks for that!
I had a similar opinion as you with the M.H's but, i ordered a white one with gold hardware and i have to say.....the body is super comfortable and well balanced overall, so i did the rational thing and ordered another aha.
But the charcoal m1001 i agree with you, it is stunning. May have to purchase it too.

To me, it's cool, but not worth it, as I'm a guy who thinks the EMG81 is perfect as is. But you can decide for yourself!
how come everyone refers to ltd as esp ltd or in this video thumnail says esp for ltd review? ltd must have had some marketing tricks to make that happen.
Great video, Rob. I was interested in what you would say about the new models. But there is a strange thing that happened recently to ESP website: the ESP USA configuration/order website is... gone. It looks like you can choose one from 7-8 models available now. 😕Is it because they are overloaded with the orders?

I’ve been digging the EC’s. There’s an EC400 that’s right in my price range on the used market I’m looking at since I’ve been wanting an Epiphone LP for a couple years now
I absolutely love my MH LTD, but wouldn’t mind an EC in my hands and hanging from the wall
Looks aren’t everything and I’m not sure what materials they’re using for their fretboards. But I’m surprised ESP doesn’t use maple fretboards all that often; maybe that’s just a trademark of theirs
esp is quality but i've never seen anyone play one? maybe some endorsed stars but to make money they would have to sell to the masses. in 30 years of local, jamming, gigging, and recording i've never even heard anyone mention them

The only thing I don't like with ESP these last few years, is the switch to Fishman pickups.
Don't get me wrong they're great pickups. But EMG always was my go to brand for active pickups and they always were the pickups that I associate with ESP Guitars. Even if I understand why it is happening, I'm having a hard time following the trend. I cannot picture myself using Fishmans with ESPs.
But in the end those M models are great and definitely catch my attention 😊.
By the way I'm still in love with that m1001 you previewed, still considering this one as a future purchase 🤘

I've played Japanese ESPs for over 2 decades, still own one but I've never been so alienated with their brand. Really not liking what they've been making since the introduction of the E-II brand.
don't really know who they market to nowadays, why not buy an 80s esp era kramer for $1000 or so?
i just wish esp would lower their prices, their stuff even ltd is unreasonably inflated price wise, just not worth buying anymore

ya the e2 is pretty much just them giving us access to the edwards guitars. the edwards is made in japan like esp but not quite the same quality as an original esp.
