The same tension on two different gauge strings will produce different notes. Thanks for the video! Just getting my first Evertune-equipped guitar and this is helping me remove some of my uncertainty around it.
@@dekzan Not on the same string gauge. The lower the tuning on a set of strings, the lower the tension. if you want the same tension as E standard in something like C, you will need a heavier string gauge

11:42 all tuned up and ready to rock! Thanks for making this video Rob. I've always been nervous about doing anything with my evertune outside of going from E to drop D with the key, but this gives me the confidence to do a string and tuning change to a lower register. Now I finally understand the relation of the saddles on the evertune and how to adjust them for intonation. With this there's no need for any trust rod adjustment.
If you go back and forth from standard to drop and back, set it up for drop and then when you play standard just tune up into zone 3 until you are in standard. The evertune isn't active on the low E but you don't need your Allen key to go back and forth. Olla had a video demonstrating it.
Another very informative video Rob !!! When I finally get my evertune, I will be tuning down a full step so this video was a huge help !!! Looks easy enough to me. As always, THANKS for the content !!! I can't wait to own one !!! 🤘 🤘
Rob you are a true guitar God! I was in high school when the Chimaira album came out. Ever since I heard that lead you play on Nothing Remains starting at 2:25 I’ve been hooked. At that moment you became my favorite guitarist. You have a truly unique style. Sort of makes me think of a snake charming kind of thing. Anyway, love the channel man. Keep it going.
100% Rob has a distinctive “sound.” And that is one of the things that makes a good guitarist a GREAT guitarist. Just how a singer with a really noticeable voice stands out. I remember the first time I listened to the “Undead” album by Six Feet Under. On several of those tracks, I was like, “Yo, this sounds like something Rob Arnold would write.” So I looked up the album info, and sure enough, “All music written by Rob Arnold.” It’s not even the same genre as Chimaira , Elite, etc., but I could still tell it was Robby on my first listen. I honestly don’t think you could say that about a lot of guitarists nowadays.
This video is so helpful I'm picking up a Solar with an evertune soon and even after watching Ola's videos I was a little lost still. One thing I would point out is that when you were working on the intonation for the low string. Evertune does suggest using their calculator on their website to determine if the standard saddled will work for your chosen gauge of string and desired tuning, lower tunings with thicker gauges can fall out of the "sweet spot" and they suggest possibly swapping the saddle out for one of their other versions designed for lower tunings. The nut could also be a factor if the new gauge of string is significantly thicker than the one the nut is filed to. Anyway this vid earned you a subscribe! Thanks
Hey thanks for tuning in and welcome aboard! I agree with the information you've shared, and I only learned about the tension calculator after the fact. So you're exactly right, and that's what I'm suggesting to new Evertune users who plan on using heavier gauges and lower tunings. 🎸
Hey there Rob! Just got myself a guitar with an Evertune, so the algorithm thought your video might help. I didn't know you were making videos now! Great to see one of my biggest guitar idols of my teenage years doing great. Subscribed!
One thing I noticed almost instantly on my first evertune is that the saddles move as you go up or down through zone 2. To nail it on the sweet spot on the edge of 2 and 3 I pull the string up and down and observe the saddle movement as I tighten the tuner. I bring it to the point that the saddle almost doesn't move at all and bam, I'm right where I need to be to be in tune and do string bends. If this makes sense to you, then you're welcome for the pro tip. 😛
@@RobArnoldWorld it’s also helpful for when your drummer or bassists won’t quit playing and you wanna make sure you’re in the zone 2/3 sweet spot 😁 as you are now tuning it visually and not tonally
@@SixString_J5 Thank you. I thought it would keep same tension on lower tunings. Please, on the other tunematics type of bridges, if you use thicker strings, does it give great string tension ?
I now have two evertune guitars, both seven strings, although different scale lengths, one is a multi-scale that is 25.5-27.8", and the other is 29". However, I'm going to set one up to do bending and one to be be a solid, no bends and that will be my answer to having both without having to change them. But I think I will set the multiscale up since it will be easier to bend the strings and not worry about them breaking as with the 29"
Got an EC 1000 BB Evertune coming next week, great to find your video! Last time I owned a guitar was nearly 15 years ago (adulthood sure eats time), and younger me would think this bridge is pure witchcraft. Thanks for the great walkthrough!
@RobArnoldWorld amazing instrument. I think it reached its full potential after tuning down to D standard. Thanks for putting out great content ! Cheers from Ireland 🥂
Im buying my first Evertune bridge guitar here pretty soon, either the ESP LTD MH-1000 EverTune Candy Apple Red or the Solar E1.6JENSEN MKII. Probably both eventually. But either way this video is a HUGE help. I play in Drop B and A mainly so I’ll be setting those guitars up as soon as I get them.
I remember when I first started playing guitar I assumed to drop tune was as complicated a process as this evertune seems to be. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was so simple actually. Pretty sure nobody would ever play drop tunings if they had to go through something like this what a complete pain in the ass. You coulda been playing for 20 min making riffs and enjoying the damn thing by just tuning to drop C the old fashioned way. Crazy
Bro, i really appreciate you making this vid and showing what your doing all the way through as im about to have an evertune installed on one of guitars.. 👍
Awesome vid as per usual Rob! Honestly, I can’t see myself buying another guitar that isn’t equipped with an evertune. It’s so fun to play hard, bend the shit out of your strings and stay in tune! Also, the finish on that particular LTD is one of the nicest I’ve seen in that series. Happy Easter brother 🤙
If you use your evertune like Rob in this video, you lose the benefit of always "In Tune", and it would be just as stable as any other hardtail bridge like hipshot or similar. If you want to really take advantage of all the attributes of the evertune, use your 6 strings in zone 2, and it would make sense there.
@@butcher_0392 I get what your saying and I think if you’re recording rhythms for example, putting it deep in zone two would be great. For everyday jamming though the bend stop is where it’s at for me! It behaves just like a normal bridge in terms of vibrato but stays in perfect tune no matter how hard I palm mute or bend. It’s so nice not to have to constantly stop and tune. Just my thoughts. Do you have an evertune guitar? Is this not the case for you?
@@Namelessforever_ Yes of course that's what I mean, that if you use the evertune in zone 2 that's where you really take advantage of all its benefits. But if instead you set it for bending and vibrato on all 6 strings, it will work exactly like a hipshot hardtail bridge, and it would be a waste of money. I have noticed that most buy it or use it to leave it in bending mode and it doesn't make sense. If your picking attack is strong with evertune set that way the notes will sound sharp anyway, like a common hardtail bridge, and the guitar won't be in tune when you're playing, it will stay in tune when you recheck string by string with your tuner. , but you will lose the whole purpose of the design and what it was created for.
Yeah man! The finish is incredible! And I disagree with @Butcher _ 03 In my experience it is definitely not like having a normal fixed bridge when you're close to zone three.
Just got an evertune installed in my Jackson Juggernaut Misha HT6. looking to change my strings so glad I came across this for some comfort :) Also, I figured that the evertune would compensate for new string being worn in, I notice you still stretch them, but I think the bridge will maintain the correct tension when strings are wearing in. Would also recommend removing the tuning key every time you check the tuning, as simply holding the key whilst in the hole may affect pitch.
Thanks a ton for this. I just got a solar with an everton and I want to change the tuning because they didn't do a setup custom for me and they set it B Standard(its a 7 string, so E standard for 6 strings), It's a 29-in guitar so I don't understand why they didn't set it up lower and I generally play in drop G so this video will help me get very close to my tuning
Excellent video. Thank you for doing this, especially the format you did it. Having it a live setup with your figures up too for the 3 Zones is very helpful for new users. I have a guitar on the way that has one of these and your demonstration has given me plenty of confidence to be able to handle the setup this week. Again, thank you for this contribution to the community.
I’m looking at the same guitar right now. I heard mixed opinions on the bridge. But this helped me get prepared. I like the black see thru. But it looks freaking beautiful
I love this video! I’ve watched it a few times. You’ve got a great teaching style. Informative without going over my head👍 I LOVE THIS GUITAR! Mercy…. It’s so cool. Thanks Rob!👊😍
Haha awesome Todd! I always love hearing when you're stoked man! This guitar is a BEAUTY for sure! The finish is immaculate! 🙌 I appreciate you always tuning in!
Hey Rob! Can you do a review on the ESP E-II M-1 Candy Apple Red Satin and give us your thoughts? I’ve been looking to splurge and pull the trigger on one, you’re my go-to guy for anything ESP and I’d love to hear your opinion on it 🤘
Man I'd love to! I've yet to check out ANY of the E-II stuff! But unless one falls into my lap I'll have to wait for the opportunity to arise. Hopefully that happens!🎸
I was surprised, when I went from the factory .009-.042 set in E standard, to a Mammoth Slinky .012-.062 (target was drop Bb), that the new strings by default tuned practically to the exact notes I needed them to be on my Evertune lol. Obviously that is a coincidence and related to string tension vs how the bridge was configured, but it was funny to see. Now I just need to adjust the neck and intonation.
Hey, Rob. I haven’t watched or commented in a while. Glad to see you’re still doing these videos. I must admit, I’m slightly intimidated by the evertune bridge. I guess I’m like an old fart who doesn’t know how to use a computer. Lol Chimaira is still one of my favourite bands of all time! P.s. Why don’t more string companies make their six packs with a wound third? I’m sure it’s more common in higher gauge. But I used to buy D’Addario 48-10 or something like that, and they had a wound third option. It’s getting harder and harder to find that.
Hey thanks for tuning in Ali! I can definitely understand the apprehension with the Evertune. When in doubt, wait it out! Maybe sometime somewhere, down the road, you'll be in the same room with one, and maybe you can look it over and give it a strum, and then see where that takes ya. 🤷🏻♂️ Good question about the wound G! And it's one I can't answer. For me it was one of those things where the option came in the pack of Blue Steels I liked, and I tried the wound G and preferred it. But had it of not been an option, I may have never discovered it, and things in the world would still be just fine. I'm glad I did though!😎🎸
Thanks so much for this video mate! I've this guitar arriving next Tuesday, but in Snow White with Fishman Fluence pickups in. First Evertune bridge so this is really helpful ahead of it arriving before the studio next week. I've subbed too, great stuff Rob!
@@RobArnoldWorld Rob, she's the dream! Absolutely in love. Not sure if you've checked out the Fishman Fluence Moderns or not yet, but well worth a look! They sound incredible.
Hi Rob! Great videos! How about a comparison video? Between a guitar with a normal fixed bridge, and another one with the evertune. It would be nice to see the diferences, sound wise and tuning stability. Thanks! Cheers from Portugal!
If you use your evertune like Rob in this video, you lose the benefit of always "In Tune" and it would be just as stable as any other hardtail bridge like hipshot or similar. If you want to really take advantage of all the attributes of the evertune, use your 6 strings in zone 2 and it would make sense there.
Thanks César! I'm not exactly sure how I'd make a comparison video like you mentioned, but I will say that I disagree with @Butcher _ 03 . In my experience the Evertune functions as expected when I'm as close to zone three as possible. Perhaps the butcher could state that "in his experience, he's found etc..." rather than presenting things so definitively.
@@RobArnoldWorld Hi Rob maybe you didn't understand what I meant. * What I mean is that if you set your evertune to bending and vibrato, the evertune would have the same stability as a normal hardtail hipshot, since when you hit the strings with a strong picking attack, the notes would be sharp as usual, which you can then check the tuning on each string and you will notice that it is in tune, but when playing it would not always be in tune because the strings bend when you attack it fiercely. I noticed that with my guitars, and that is what the creators of Evertune themselves say, that in zone 2 it will always be in tune no matter how much bending or strong picking attack you have, but while you adjust the bridge so that it is in vibrato bending mode, it is not like that.
@@butcher_0392 Ok I can't argue with that and thanks for the explanation! But even with the strings sharpening slightly during the specific scenario we're discussing, I still think the overall tuning would be more precise than a hardtail. But everyone has a right to their own opinion! Btw for the record, I know I sound like a hardline Evertune defender, but I have no affiliation with them, and I'm not endorsed by them in any way. I just think it's a cool device that serves a purpose well, in certain situations!🎸
Thanks dude! If you're using super thick gauges, they recommend switching to higher tension saddles. They have a tension calculator on their website, where you can type in what gauges and what tuning you're using, and it'll tell you which saddles to choose.
I love the ESP locking tuners, but I couldn't find anywhere where you could buy them online. However on Amazon, I found some Hipshot ones I like the look of! amzn.to/3RXKWB1 They look similar to the ESP ones, and I trust the Hipshot brand!
Excellent work. Thanks a lot! Your video helps with making a decision on purchasing a guitar with an Evertune bridge or not. BTW I think there is an episode on That Pedal Show all about tuners and why the heck an A isn’t just an A on every tuner. I might be wrong but you may just watch out for that vid.
@@RobArnoldWorld it was probably that one on Andertons ua-cam.com/video/WWJAdXGwztU/v-deo.html It is not exactly an entertaining subject. So be warned and be patient. A tip for those struggling with an overly sensitive and fickle tuner: switch to the neck pickup and close the tone pot. Sometimes this method cools your tuner down a bit:)
Brilliant! Answered most of my questions. Have a cort kx700 coming with evertune and locking tuners. Coming with 10-46 string set in e standard. Anyone know if the nut will be ok with 11-54 strings in drop C?
Great! And yes, I think you'll be fine! As you saw, I went to drop C with 11-52's, and so that little extra with your .54 shouldn't cause you any issues.
Thanks Rob! You don’t find that setting the tuning in a non-playing position (such as on its back) leads to it being slightly sharp due to the temporary neck relief?
Nope! No issues with that. I suppose doing the final touches in the playing position would ensure the utmost accuracy, but honestly I feel the difference is negligible.

I’ve been looking at that exact guitar for awhile now. I picked the guitar back up not to long ago so I’m pretty new. I currently have an American Tele and as amazing as it is, i find i play more heavier music. Would it be foolish to trade in my Tele for that same guitar? I know i won’t get that twangy sound the Tele is known for but Ill be gaining that deep metal tone I’m looking for. Thanks for the video!
I'm sure you'd love it if you tried it! Also, if you'd like to maintain the Tele vibe, check out my video on the TE-1000! ua-cam.com/video/CG5O-gDjf4E/v-deo.html
Amazing video! Quick question for you. Once you get it perfectly tuned and intonated after purchasing, is it necessary to stretch the strings or make any tuning adjustments while changing the strings next time? Will these settings last months/years without the need to make adjustments after tens of cycles of strings?
Thanks dude! I stretch my strings religiously out of habit every time I change strings. Some guys claim it's unnecessary with the Evertune though. I say, it only takes a couple minutes, so better safe than sorry. And yes, in theory, besides that, as long as you maintain the same gauges, no further adjustments should be necessary. And... I have the PERFECT video for you to see this in action! ua-cam.com/video/iAOLaaC-hA8/v-deo.html
@@matthewmp111 Say you want to tune your 52 gauge string to a drop F#...it won't actually make it that low while staging "in the zone" on a standard tension saddle. You would need to move to a 74 gauge for good tension and being "in the zone" for example.
I honestly don't really have an opinion on that. Most of my guitars are neck through, but I have no issues with bolt on's either, of which I have a couple. And as far as origin of manufacture, I have many Korean made guitars, and just one or two Indonesian. Gun to my head, I guess I'd choose Korean made. But I don't have a strong opinion on that either. Sorry!
How are the frets on that LTD? I see in the specs that they are stainless steel, but curious if you put a level on to see if any of them are high or need a bit further crowning. Sounds like your action is pretty low on it, as I am hearing some buzz. Thanks for covering Evertune... they are different, but man, when you get them locked in, oh boy! Not the best thing to have for alt tunings, but that's what my Shuriken is for, really.
Interesting issue here... I swapped out .009-.042 gauges in e standard for .012-.056 drop c. my strings were also much flatter than i expected, but when i got to G (now F), the tuner showed D#/E. I tried to sharpen to get to F at the saddle, but the screw hit a point where it would no longer sharpen the pitch and the hex key would no longer turn the screw. I havent found any help online for this issue, and was hoping maybe somebody has this same issue and found a fix for it.. thanks! great video
Evertune makes high tension saddles which may be the solution to your issue. They also have a tension calculator on their site, and you can input your gauges and tuning, and they'll recommend the appropriate saddles for your setup. Good luck! 🎸
Great stuff Rob! I have to ask, what is that sick tool cart you do all you guitar set-up work on? I've been looking for something similar for ages and haven't found anything close.
I'd argue that when you sink into a comfortable couch, the cushions conform to your body shape, and continue to do so with every movement or repositioning you make... Much like the Evertune (couch), and your strings (you). And during that first moment when you sit on the couch, you still contract and relax your muscles a bit and maybe stretch a little, to achieve maximum comfort while more greatly allowing the cushions to do their job. You settle in. I'd equate this to stretching my strings. I feel like I'm setting the Evertune up for greater success. But hey, that's just me!
@@RobArnoldWorld This is what it looks like with fixed bridges. The spring in the module regulate the tension continuously. If the string is unstretched, it will fall back into the second zone from the front stop. If not, the string is stretched. I recommend you to see how it all works: ua-cam.com/video/KUc-khzFn64/v-deo.html
I'm slightly confused by your question but I would say yes, you can set it up however you like. However I believe with super low tunings, that typically require higher gauge strings, you may need to switch over to Evertunes high tension saddles. There's a tension calculator on their website, and that should help you determine if you'll be good as is, or if you'll need to swap out your saddles.
It has such an unpleasant sound or fret, it happened to me, I changed the strings to 0.11 - .048 to leave it in standard D and I don't know what to do to remove that fretting to the air... One question, it would not be advisable to carry the saddle tuning halfway before putting on the strings?

Rob you are a true guitar God! I was in high school when the Chimaira album came out. Ever since I heard that lead you play on Nothing Remains starting at 2:25 I’ve been hooked. At that moment you became my favorite guitarist. You have a truly unique style. Sort of makes me think of a snake charming kind of thing. Anyway, love the channel man. Keep it going.
Ahh man that mean a lot Mark!👊🐍 I appreciate your DVD order too man! Thanks for the support!🤘
Bro's voice cures anxiety!!!!!
Thanks Rob the Heavy Metal community would just be a dark place without musicians like you..

Thank for this video Rob I just bought my EC-1000 Evertune and it arrived today, this really helped get the general gist of how to work and Evertune.
Super glad to hear it Ryan! Enjoy your new beauty!🎸
Hey there Rob! Just got myself a guitar with an Evertune, so the algorithm thought your video might help.
I didn't know you were making videos now! Great to see one of my biggest guitar idols of my teenage years doing great. Subscribed!
Awesome dude! Welcome aboard, and congrats on your new axe!
Makes sense!🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld it’s also helpful for when your drummer or bassists won’t quit playing and you wanna make sure you’re in the zone 2/3 sweet spot 😁 as you are now tuning it visually and not tonally
Please, does string tension stay same as standard tuning when you down tune ?
@@dekzan no. When you use the same gauge strings and tune lower, the string tension is lower and you have to re setup your guitar.
But I think I will set the multiscale up since it will be easier to bend the strings and not worry about them breaking as with the 29"
This is a damn good video, Rob. Crazy helpful and informative!
Happy to hear it bro!🎸
Got an EC 1000 BB Evertune coming next week, great to find your video! Last time I owned a guitar was nearly 15 years ago (adulthood sure eats time), and younger me would think this bridge is pure witchcraft. Thanks for the great walkthrough!

Awesome dude! That all sounds exciting! Happy to hear you'll be able to put the methods in this video to use! 🎸
Happy to hear it man! I think you'll love your new Evertune!
Perfect video and explanation! I was so confused about the zones and I got nothing by watching other videos, but you explained it so well!
Great man! Happy to hear that and happy to help!
Hell yea Rob! I'm a Drop C 012.-.0.54 Ddddadderioas or however you pronounce that shit 😂😭
@@Namelessforever_
Yes of course that's what I mean, that if you use the evertune in zone 2 that's where you really take advantage of all its benefits.
@@RobArnoldWorld couldn’t agree more Rob! Take me to the land of the bend stop and never let me leave!! 😃🤙

Check out Peterson strobe tuner. It's very precise.
Just got an evertune installed in my Jackson Juggernaut Misha HT6. looking to change my strings so glad I came across this for some comfort :)
Also, I figured that the evertune would compensate for new string being worn in, I notice you still stretch them, but I think the bridge will maintain the correct tension when strings are wearing in. Would also recommend removing the tuning key every time you check the tuning, as simply holding the key whilst in the hole may affect pitch.
Nice! I agree that stretching probably isn't necessary with an Evertune, but I still do it out of habit!
flat fret forward. works every time 😉
Thanks a ton for this.
That guitar is gorgeous!!
Excellent video. Thank you for doing this, especially the format you did it. Having it a live setup with your figures up too for the 3 Zones is very helpful for new users. I have a guitar on the way that has one of these and your demonstration has given me plenty of confidence to be able to handle the setup this week. Awesome!
Awesome! And I have videos on truss rod and intonation if you need em'!
Very informative.. Great video. Cheers
Happy to hear that man!🎸

I also love the little wiggly noises they make when fine tuning lmao
Hey, Rob. I haven’t watched or commented in a while. Glad to see you’re still doing these videos. I must admit, I’m slightly intimidated by the evertune bridge. I guess I’m like an old fart who doesn’t know how to use a computer. Lol
Chimaira is still one of my favourite bands of all time!
Good question about the wound G! And it's one I can't answer.
For me it was one of those things where the option came in the pack of Blue Steels I liked, and I tried the wound G and preferred it.
But had it of not been an option, I may have never discovered it, and things in the world would still be just fine.
I'm glad I did though!😎🎸

@@RobArnoldWorld
Hi Rob maybe you didn't understand what I meant.

Don't forget to check your strings that they can actually achieve the tuning you want with the standard saddles
What does this mean?
@@matthewmp111 Say you want to tune your 52 gauge string to a drop F#...it won't actually make it that low while staging "in the zone" on a standard tension saddle. You would need to move to a 74 gauge for good tension and being "in the zone" for example.

What would you say about neck through construction compared to bolt on necks? If the neck through is Indonesian and the bolt on is Korean.
Ltd models
I have not done any type of fret analysis. They felt great though!
Good luck! 🎸

There is no need to stretch the strings when changing them on guitars with Evertune.
They stretch as you make the adjustments. Cheers!
@@RobArnoldWorld
This is what it looks like with fixed bridges.
The spring in the module regulate the tension continuously. If the string is unstretched, it will fall back into the second zone from the front stop. If not, the string is stretched.

What if my evertune guitar is in drop e and I want to go up to drop g sharp, is that possible to do without damage or anything?
I'm slightly confused by your question but I would say yes, you can set it up however you like. However I believe with super low tunings, that typically require higher gauge strings, you may need to switch over to Evertunes high tension saddles. There's a tension calculator on their website, and that should help you determine if you'll be good as is, or if you'll need to swap out your saddles.
Did you end up adjusting for the string buzz? If so..how did that affect the tuning?
Aye, I can't remember unfortunately. However as I always say, I like a nice low action, and therefor a little fret buzz is inevitable and acceptable.
Agreed. Thank you.
It has such an unpleasant sound or fret, it happened to me, I changed the strings to 0.11 - .048 to leave it in standard D and I don't know what to do to remove that fretting to the air... One question, it would not be advisable to carry the saddle tuning halfway before putting on the strings?
I'm sorry, I don't understand your question!
