    News of the Times Episode 310 | 1775 & 1851
    Our first story takes place in 1775. The young orphan that was brought into the household of well-respected ex-soldier John Bolton had developed into a beauty. Bolton takes advantage of his position and engages in an intimacy with her. And then she becomes pregnant. The case took on the highest alert possible at that time.
    Our second case from 1850 was a love match between two youngsters of different social class backgrounds, both respected. Despite the social class differences, an intimacy develops, and the young woman becomes pregnant. Very pregnant, and it would seme the majority of the village is aware of it. The young gentleman is set to marry a woman of his own class, as decided by his family, who also brings wealth. The sticking point is his pregnant mistress.
    Two cases of murdered mistresses is today‘s episode of Wicked Wednesdays.
    Hosted by Robin Coles.

    Wow!! Ackworth isn't that far from me!! It's quite a nice place, and has a famous Quaker school!!
    Hmmm, the so-called "respectable gentlemen" in these sad stories didn't exactly treat their poor victims respectfully or behave like gentlemen towards them and their unborn children, did they?! What utter scumbags they were!! Murder is NEVER the answer!!
    Bolton took the coward's way out too!! So much for being a brave soldier!!
    I wonder what happened to Bolton's poor wife and children?! They were innocent victims in all of this too!!
    Thanks again for another OUTSTANDING video, Robin and team!! 🤗❤😍💞👏👍💕

      Wow! We have never visited Ackworth but we have heard it is a really nice place! Very well said! 👍The brave soldeir and person of "better" class both used and murdered the women they were involved with. No - sorry - we do not know what happened with Bolton's wife. We do not have access ot a lot of newspapers in 1775. He had money, so hopefully she was ok. 🤞Thank you, as always!🙌🙏

    In the first part, I was regretting that my family name was not Rainbow; however, during the second, I was envious of the given name Jael. Too bad that poor Jael did not have a hammer and tent peg handy when attacked.

      @newsofthetimes  Місяць тому +1

      A really odd name - rainbow! We have no idea where it came from - she was an orphan. did she choose her name?
      Jael - we liked that name too! Unusual. By all accounts, she was a determined young woman who could have gone places. very sad.😔

    These two cases of murdered pregnant young women were truly heartbreaking in every sense of the word. First case, this young girl was working for this "despicable," married man who had a wife and six children. He seduced her and impregnated her and decided to murder her to avoid the scandal. Second case, this young man seduced a young woman and impregnated her and murdered her in order to marry another woman of his social background. Both men were found guilty of these heinous murders but one committed suicide and the other received the death penalty. Do you know whatever happened to the wife and children in the first case? Great investigation, presentation, backstories, illustrations, photos and videos, too. Take care 🦋 P.S. If these cases were tried in 2024 these men would have been charged with the murders of the women and unborn babies, especially the second case because she was nine months pregnant.

      The double murder charge - that is interesting! We did not know that although it certainly makes sense! We have wondered why that was not the case historically. Sady, we do not have the followups foreither case. news items are relatively thin on the ground in 1775 and the news was very different - usually quite short! Yes, two terrible murders tied across time by the same type of murders. The poor women. 😔Both terrible, but the young lass in the Bolton household - what choice wold she have had? And how innocent she must have been. That is complete abuse of power.😔Thank you - as always! 🙏
