The Notorious Murders at Yarmouth
In today’s episode of frightful Fridays we are in Yarmouth 1900 and 1912 as we delve into the mysterious double murders that took place there.
Pretty Mary Jane is found strangled with her own bootlace and left on the sand dunes of Yarmouth Beach in 1900. Living there under an assumed identity, her true identity and killer are eventually traced.
But, 12 years later, a similar crime takes place with the body found only a few hundred yards away from the original crime scene. Dora may has been killed with a bootlace and stockings in just the same way as Mary Jane 12 years earlier.
Was the wrong man executed originally? Is the real original killer back to murder again 12 years later? Or is there a copycat killer living quietly within the Yarmouth community?
Two Yarmouth murders with a similar signature killing style, within a 100 yards of each other, but 12 years apart, is today’s episode of Frightful Fridays.
Hosted by Robin Coles.

Very enjoyable - thank you
Really glad you liked it! We thought it was interesting the idea of a copycatr killer back in 1912! Thge stories are a bot like the Crumbles killings with the same venue, same female type and same location. Thank you so much for your support! 🙌
Thank you. Very good.
Thank you! Really glad you liked it, ❤
Algorithm comment…LOVE this channel! So close to 1K…it isn’t b/c you’re not wonderful, but because the general public doesn’t know about you 🤗

The similarities of the horrific murders of these two young women twelve years apart is very intriguing, to say the least. In the first case, I believe Mary Jane was murdered by her husband. I'm thrilled that he received the death penalty because I believed he should have. In the second case, Dora it seems was murdered by a young yachts man she met at Yarmouth Beach. It's unfortunate that the police wasn't able to capture her murderer. Great investigation, presentation, illustrations, backstories and photos, too. Take care 🦋
It's not "the Police wasn't" it's "the Police weren't or were not" you're welcome
Glad you liked it! A bit similar to the Crumbles we thought. We agree with you - we def think the husband did it with Mary Jane. As for Dora and her secret life - it seems her skirting the seedy side of life went terribly wrong. Sad. Thank you very much, as always, for your wonderful support! 🙌
Robin Coles is a Treasure! The Pride of Yorkshire!
My Yorkshire roots are strong. Yorkshire is the Texas of England.🙄 Thank you!
I have another ‘occupation’ that’s more exciting than it seems at first glance - going for a ramble along a beach. The number of murder victims found by people walking along the sand dunes is really extraordinary. Indeed it seems second only to the ubiquitous ‘Man Walking a Dog’ for increasing the probability of an intimate encounter with not only the intricacies of police work but the judicial system as a whole.
🤣 Yes, and as an island, this causes a problem for some! We are chuckling over our morning coffees. ☕☕ We should do an episode on this: murders from places where dead bodies tend to show up. Thank you as always!
