I have this tent, slept in a few pretty big storms and stayed perfectly dry. I absolutely love it now
Hi Luke, I purchased this tent on Amazon after seeing your review. After setting up the tent for the first time using only the poles, i noticed that the material had pulled away from the stitching in one corner of the inner tent. I contacted onetigris and was appalled by there customer service. They insisted that I had placed to much tension on the tent and would not replace it. Fortunately Amazon allowed me to return the tent and get my money back. I have now bought a Naturehike mongar 2 instead. Thanks for your reviews! Kevin from Sweden.
Oh, good to know. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks for this info. I agree that's BS! If your CS sucks, you don't need my business.
Thanks !
Had the complete opposite experience. The fly had a tear, and they sent me a new one no questions asked
Naturehike is putting competitors on notice
Luke my wife says if I buy another tent she's going to divorce me......I'm going to miss her
😂
I'm right there with ya bud!
Down to 7 . Spouse is trying to get me to get rid of my Moss Outlook, sigh.
You’re not alone. My wife and daughters call me Dora the Explorer bc I have so much gear. I just won a backpack thru Enwild over Instagram and my wife said “ya, sure ya did” lol she thought I just bought another backpack.
That's what my wife said to me and I told her I didn't care cause I don't even know your wife.😉
I have this tent / shelter. You are absolutely right on 2 things. One, the wind. I've had it set up next to the lake and it was howling. Did not feel a thing and slept great. Two, the stakes. The pulls do need to be better. I replaced the stakes with steel ones due to ground being very hard in my neck of the woods. Great job as always. Thank you Luke.
I have the Cosmitto 1.0 from Amazon and OneTigris immediately replaced it under warranty when it leaked the first time I used it (luckily, in my back garden).
In 2 years of use, the replacement tent leaked only once at the vents, but I was able to repair this with seam sealer on the inside of the storm flap for the vent.
It's been 100% reliable ever since. It's a little on the heavy side when it's just me on my own, for it's size and rock-solid performance, it's been very tough to knock this tent.
I've actually had one or two people wandering over at the campsite to compliment it, thinking that it was an ex-military tent because the colour blends into the background!
Thanks LUKE for your testing on this tent! I bought one from Amazon today! Just because you tested it out and gave your personal honest impressions on this tent! Thanks from Masha in Welland ON Canada! 🇨🇦
Great to hear that OneTigris have improved the design of this tent and it's now actually useable. I had exactly the same issue with the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow, where I was swimming after waking up in the morning. Admittedly, they were quick to admit the tent was defective and issued a refund, but the company shouldn't be relying on the general public to test their products. It's almost like they adopt a "We'll cut corners on production to save money and if it fails, I'm sure someone will tell us"., or more likely "I'm sure Luke will tell us". Appreciate you taking one for the team :-) . Keep up the great work, sir! Cheers!
I have 2 of these now. I slept out in 20 degree weather this spring and was very impressed. I wish it weighted a little bit less and that would make it very nice for back packing. I'm 6'-3" and its barely big enough for me long ways. I strap this tent to the outside of my pack and it rides nicely. The way the doors roll back is my biggest gripe. You will need a couple more stakes if you want to put guyot lines and all other anker points out. I think it was 4 short. This is a great starter tent and I look forward to trying a light weight trekking pole tent in the future. Thanks for all the hard work Luke. Much appreciated.
I have it too and just wrote I'm looking forward to a lighter version of it
I always loved the look of this tent but after your review of the original i went with the backwoods bungalow and i couldnt be more happy with it a great tent for a good price. Also i want to say that i love your gear reviews and your reviews do influence my gear purchases. Ever since ive started watching your videos ive been slowly replacing my gear as needed with things you have tested havent been disappointed yet.
I bought this tent because of your reviews. It is everything you said it would be. Thank you.
I have the 2.0 version and I did as Luke suggested and made some shock-cords for the sides and added some additional lightweight hardware to make the setup easier for me (clip and go). I also used my hot glue gun to make knobs on the tent stake cord as he suggested; that worked great. One point I would like to make with any outing with our tents is this. If you know how hard the ground might want to compensate for that. Take stakes that will work in that ground or cover the bases and take a set of both easy ground and harder ground. I use this tent as my car tent because of the weight, but if the weight is not an issue for you then go for it.
This was my first tent and it has served us very well! Love the value and it will continue to see use, hopefully for years to come!
That would be perfect for my nephew. Day 90 of chemo everyone. 🤙
Goog luck 🎉 god bless you
Thank you, I appreciate the positive comment.
Google “cancer 24 hour fast”. Greatly increases effectiveness of chemo.
Stay strong!
Best from the other side of the pond.
Thank you for your comment. A camping trip in the Lake District is on my bucket list.🤙
Luke … Simply an EXCELLENT review. If I go beyond my canvas pup tent to something newer and lighter, this is probably the way I will go. I car camp approximately once or twice a year (spring & fall) for either an extended weekend or an extended week (Saturday to the following week Sunday). I like my camping trips to coincide with either the spring bass or crappie spawn or the fall squirrel season with a few day bass fishing adventures. Luke … I thoroughly enjoy you and Susie and your channel!!! Please keep up the good work!!! God bless both of you!!! Chuck Knight from Atascocita, Texas. 👨🌾
I love this tent. Best tent for the money I have. Easy, quick to set up and a lot of room. I haven’t pulled out my DD hammock since I’ve had it.
Same here
Watched your reviews and purchased this tent as a solo biker tent. It's awesome for use in the UK in all weathers.
I've taken this tent out for a couple weekends and a 3 day backpacking trip. I loved it. Never had issue with the pulls on the stakes or keeping the doors open. The vents however are kind useless, closed or open I get the same amount of air flow. Which I've never had a problem with.
I've been able to finally get this tent out for a few trips and am very pleased with it.
A couple of changes that I made on it:
*** Added 10mm webbing straps with quick release buckles on each of the doors (4). The straps are attached at the inner velcro loop on the inside and guy connection on the outside, located about 2/3's of the way up the poles. The release buckles are set at the bottom of the loop so that they can be accessed from both inside and out. When the fly doors are rolled up these straps hold them at just the right location. The webbing is wide enough to support without cutting into the fly as a string would.
*** Put a strip of thick duct tape around the pole grommets located at each corner of the tent and then punched a hole in each one to accept the pole feet. It keeps the pole in the grommet tighter and makes setup easier. Pinching the grommets with pliers to make the opening slightly oval might also work.
Some people thought that the inverted T zippers would not seal completely, however I noticed that the zippers are continuous - not three individual zippers on each door. This setup allows the zippers to come together tightly with less than one square mm of opening, hardly an issue even with no-see-ums. Having the ability to completely open up both sides of the tent is a huge bonus for access and ventilation.
I tend to set the tent up with the doors facing E-W so the sun is shaded by the staked door flaps to block out most of the daytime sun (northern latitudes). With two doors its pretty easy to set the door flaps to funnel a cross breeze through the tent.
The Coyote brown color is perfect for stealth camping. It blends in nicely with most surroundings, and has a pleasing neutral interior lighting when the sun shines through.
The tent holds up very well in the wind. I scavenged a set of Flyboy clips from an old Kelty Webforce tent to attach guy lines just above the kinks in the tent poles. The clips lock the tent fly to the poles and provide solid guy points. For guy line I use a 2.5mm polyester line (no stretching when wet) and four titanium nail stakes. With this set up the tent held up to 20 mph winds almost without notice. I suspect that it would hold up well up to a gale force wind (30 mph +), but really for a lightweight 3-season tent with single poles that's about as much as anyone can ask.
The tent is roomy, the space is all very usable, and everything is laid out nicely. Overall an excellent tent. I'm planning to buy another for a backup just in case (especially at this price!).
Hi Luke, I can't go camping. With your advice that I see on your video. I can advise my family. I also tell them that,if they don't believe me. They need to check your videos.
I have been looking at pass videos. Three years ago, I saw the first video, I saw. It was when Susie went with you. It was a very heavy snow night. The next day she got tired. Every since that day, I have been a blessed seeing you and Susie. God bless y'all!!
Welo this is now on my to buy list for this years gear list. Thanks Luke! You are the man! Cheers brother! My son has the 1st gen of this that has the leaky vents, he hasn't had any issues with it so far but also says he hasn't been in any rain events with it either. So hope his luck holds up.
I got one of the 1.0 version, yep it leaked. I tried sealing the vents, it still leaked. BUT I really like the tent design so I put a tarp over it in the rain. I am tired of that. I am glad they fixed the tent and ordered the 2.0 version because of HONEST reviews like this one. I use mine for trips to shooting matches, in the field for USAF exercises and general camping. The floor design, size and such are perfect. Now I won't have a leaking roof.
I ordered this tent a couple days ago and gets here tomorrow. Couldn't be more psyched to try it out
You give such an excellent in-depth review of every product, the companies should be thankful that you take the time to do this for free. If the company had any respect for their company or their product or the reviews that you give, they should give you whatever you review Because you make their product or make their product better. of course that’s my opinion. You and Susie are good people.
Thanks for the hard work, I bought one of these because i needed a tent, and your review helped me to make a better choice. The choice of tents that are available in the marketplace is endless. Keep up the good work. I will say that I spent more money than originally planned, but rainproof is of high value when you're out in the somewhere. 👍
Most of us don't have as many tents as you, which makes it easier to identify. The way I did it was this, I have the Rock Fortress in the coyote brown, and I just got the T/C Rok Shield in OD green. If I get this, I'll just get it in the grey.
Edit: I did get this tent, in the grey so I can tell it apart, and I have just left it out in the back yard for the last 5 days in the pouring rain. Not one drop of water inside. Very impressed overall.
I've been using a cheap Ozark Trail tent from Walmart, the Clip and Clamp 4, which is about the size of your tent, for the past two years with no leaks and no problems. I've been spending from mid April to mid October in the mountains. I started with a 200 dollar Guide Gear 14 foot teepee that was a disaster. It leaked and started falling apart the first time I used it. So I ran to Walmart to buy a cheap tent to get me by until I could order another tent. For 39.98 I wasn't expecting much, but this thing has been great, so I just kept using it. I'm thinking about getting the 6 person model when it goes on sale because I can't find a better tent for the money.
Looks like a great tent. Always love your reviews, Luke. Thanks!
Looks to me like a good tent. To fixing the little problems is part of the fun. Thank you for sharing.
After your last review of this tent I added both the gray and brown to my slamazon cart. I have two tents that I use somewhat frequently, an REI Passage and a Teton Mountain Ultra 3 but I like the T doors on the Cosmitto 2.0 and the fact you can sit inside it in a chair. The new One Tigris high back chair which can go to almost ground level or use the legs. It would be pretty cool to use inside this tent if necessary. Thinking I'd go with the brown version once the price comes down a bit.
Greatest ad I've seen I'm buying this
Don't keep food in a tent.
LOL I could totally see myself grabbing the Cosmitto during the winter when I wanted to grab the Stella and vice versa making a terrible trip! Great idea to tag it yourself and recommending that Onetigris label them!
You should never be storing your tents in their carry sacks anyway and this is especially true for nylon tents. The only worse thing you can do to ensure the waterproofing fails prematurely is put them away wet. Store them loosely in mesh laundry bags so they can outgas and any residual moisture can evaporate and put your own tags on them.
Here's my experience with the Cosmitto 2.0.
We camped for 2 nights, my wife, me and our Australian Shepherd... Yes, two adults and a dog.
Pleasantly surprised, it was perfect. It will be my moto camping tent, solo camping.
Perfect size, lot's of features, fast set up and fast take down.
Glad I bought this tent.
just bought one $138 out the door on amazon. its 20% off right now
Dude good call, just cancelled and re-ordered and made sure to check that 20% off box
I use a Coleman fold out cot along with a small table in this tent and I am glamping! Granted, I am 5’7” so sitting up on the cot is not too bad. I just just recently purchased this tent from Amazon, so I have not tested it in the rain yet, but I wanted this tent for a quick set up in established campgrounds when I don’t feel like going to the ground and getting back up again. I have tents like that for backpacking. But I gotta be in the mood!😂 Add an overhead tarp and drop the rain fly then life is good!😊
Love One Tigris everything!
Other than a slight pole difference, it looks like my Naturehike Mongar 2 tent. Mine came with a foot print that allows you to setup the tarp first if in the rain.
I've had this tent for a year now. Thanks to your review, I've recently bought nature hike cot low profile that fits in it rather well, have not had a chance to go out and use it in the tent yet, but that should be happening very soon.
Great review. How does this tent compare to the Nature Hike Mongor 2?
You should get a protective undercoat done for your 4runner, you wont regret it, also their is some great gear 4 that, even tent toppers, with canopy hook ups, would be cool to see those!
I have this tent and it’s a great tent… and it is extremely waterproof
Reflective paracord is a good option for guy lines. It is easy to see at night so you're not tripping over them with a headlamp. Also I usually roll my door flap so the bottom rolls towards the tent so in case it rains it will roll off on the outside instead of soak the entire inside of door flap.
Hi Luke, how does it compare to the Naturehike Mongar 2?
Great Review Brother Luke. I like Both colors, but the coyote is my favorite. Cheers from from South Carolina.
Great idea. I had considered something similar recently as I am just getting into overlanding and dispersed camping. Long time camper with electricity, but tired of campgrounds. Subscribed.
Bought the Cosmitto 2.0 from Amazon and spent a week in this tent with both heavy rain and in the dry - Its very easy and fast to setup, well ventilated, no condensation and generously spaced for 1 person, wouldn't want to be 2 though unless really close -and I would have liked the vestibules be a bit bigger for shoes and stuff but other than that its incredible value and really felt at home in this nice tent... There is a couple of places where I dont think the stitching is ok on the edges of the fly and I use a plastic footprint as the tent floor seems a bit flimsy (just me, havent leaked or anything but better safe than sorry) - Overall its insane value, love it!
seems this has the usual con..you have to pitch the tent inner first, before putting over the fly. trying this in the rain (it always seems to be raining in Scotland) is a real pain. I have at least been able to modify my own tents (one mountain and one 3-season) to enable the "tarps" to go up first to give immediate shelter from the elements, and this will need to be a feature of my next tent, so putting this onetigris out of contention. So, thank goodness for Lukes reviews, such a fantastic source of help, so thank-you!
The Natire Hike Star River is a great little 2 person tent as well!
From seeing the Cosmitto in this video, would you recommend the Star River over it?
(I'm 95% decided on the Star River)
I have the original Cosmitto and waterproof sprayed it and seam-sealed it and it's been leakproof for me. I enjoy it as a good inexpensive tent.
I may be the only one but I prefer the older version Cosmitto for the vents and doors. While I do like the the newer pole shape for extra room in the new tent I still like the older one better. Seam sealing the vent is no big deal. Some other brands dont seam seal at all and people accept that as ok so no issues with the old Cosmitto for me.
I was watching the episode where your wife talks about her shoulder, in my life i have healed many women, i guess i should of been a physical therapist lol, but you can see her shoulder is out of alignment in the video, its her back doing this, where her shoulder connects, she has carbon monoxide build up where her shoulder socket connects to back, around her 4th to 6th vertebrae down from her neck, use your thumbs and work it out, if you do it right you and her can literally hear it working, it is painful for both of you, my hands always hurt when i heal, after doing this, make sure to use ice for a bit, then practice sitting and standing focusing on staying straight, its probably caused by the way she sleeps, practice using small pillows to keep the shoulder and back aligned and pressure off that shoulder! Peace!!👍 I am guessing she sleeps on her left shoulder alot, but you can see her left shoulder is pushed in at least 2 inches compared to her right, her back even has a small curve, she needs to focus on reversing this, bones are bendable lol, it just takes awhile and dealing with the pain of reversing it, it will work though! ❤️
I bought a Featherstone Periodot two person tent after multiple commenters on your channel said it was great. It is. Probably better than the tent you're reviewing here.
Hey Luke they took your advice. Not only did they put the name of the tent on the bag they put a picture of it on there to! I just bought this tent and received it today.
It has that bath tub bottom design like those TCOP tent. I like it!
Well done, Luke. Looks like a great tent.
thank you for listing the weight. they are not very forthcoming with that info on their amazon listing so I figured it had to be a bad thing.
I like that. Strength and honor. Good video
I purchased the original Cosmitto and unfortunately had to return it due to being too tall to sleep wall to wall and I'm 6'5. I went with the Teton Sports Mountain Ultra 2, great tent by the way. Thanks for the review and info.
I'm 6'7 and I'm so picky about tents because nothing fits me right lol. The struggle is real, man.
I'm 6'3 and this tent barely fits me. If it's just me I can sleep diagonally and then there is plenty of room.
Hi Luke! Sounds like they are at least trying with this one. Maybe 3.0 will have improved vents and still no leaking. Sounds pretty good as it is, though.
Luke if I didn't have the leg problems I have this would be my kind of tent for camping out and I like they changed things on it and maybe they will listen and make the vents better for air flow when they are open, and I was wondering what needs to be done to make this a 4 season tent or early 4th season tent.
7:00 Mardingtop backpack?
Dude i love the channel very thorough im about to make a deposit 2 order my cosmitto 2 right now!!! Im torn between the grey and coyote i think for urban use its lo profile and blends in to the grey man applications but i may use mine for a stealth shelter so im thinking coyote also its 100 degrees f right now will the geey be cooler than the brown its a hard pick
It looks like a great tent to me for the cost thanks for the review
What would people choose this or the naturehike mongar?
Eyeing this for campground camping. Weight doesn't matter in that case and I don't usually go out if the weather is horrible
Waiting to receive my Cosmitto 2.0, it's supposed to be here today. Going on a trip monday for 3 nights to test it out.
It's going to be my moto camping tent, solo camping. But for next week's trip we'll be two in the tent, wife and I (including the dog 😂). It will be tight but we'll be fine, I'm sure we are going to laugh a whole lot during this trip.
We are going to buy a large tent for future trips.
Too bad OneTigris doesn't make large tents with flooring, I would buy one right away.
Awesome review Luke. Just bought mine from Amazon on sale, finally upgrading from my Northface Stormbreak 1 which was just too small for my uses.
Out of all the tents that you have tested, and I do mean everyone, what is the number one tent that is the most perfect, and the best one that you've ever tested, that you would consider people buying, thank you !!!!
In Canada they call this “OneTigris Northgaze 2~4 Person Lightweight Hot Tent with Stove Jack,5.3lb, 4 Season Waterproof” very same tent and the video they say it is the Cosmitto 2.0 upgraded tent? I bought mine from US Amazon not Canadian Amazon! Anyway they ran out in Canada on this tent! They all must’ve been watching Lukes review on this tent! Lol!
Nice tent and thank you for bringing it to light I love your videos , I love the color and I do love that it has two doors but yeah the weight is a factor for me because I do a lot of backpacking and need something as light as can be 👍🏾
Very cool you kept to your guns with this tent! You know whats good. I've been watching you review just about every tent thats worth a damn. I for sure trust your judgment! How would this tent compare to tents like the litefighter 1 & 2 person? Just curious. Thanks man!! Hike on!!
Looks great like you I think the colour is great as for the space it’s amazing
I had this tent out on the edge of a cliff in the French Alps when wind became crazy at night... I was afraid because I was stupid to put my tent so close to the edge when there was no wind.. just a breeze from the valley. However winddirection changed 180 degrees and power increased every hour to a point where I was praying in my tent because I though I'd go parasailing 200 meters down into the valley at 1am at night. But the tent held perfect. Lesson learned.
Hi
I know it's a tall order, but can you please make a tent teir list
Thank you for all your work
A not very waterproof tent isn't completely useless. In my part of the country, most years it doesn't rain at all from typically April to mid/late December. An atypical year may have light to moderate rain (by other part of the countries standards) in to as late as March and possibly as early as October.
It sucks how dry it is here, even the deserts around the region get more rain through the year.
Hey Luke great Video!!! I have been looking at this tent for a while now and just seen your video. Thanks for review!!! What footprint do you use for your tent? I looked on Amazon but the footprint I found was either a lot smaller or bigger.
Hey Luke. Great channel. I’ve owned the original version since its introduction. I’ve had it out in several horrible storms and never found it to have the leaking issue. How do the bodies of version 1 vs 2 compare? If folks have a v1 but want to avoid leaks I’m wondering if OneTigris could offer a new fly sans vents? I guess I’m not willing to ditch this gear since it’s never let me down. I guess I could always pack an auxiliary tarp but I just never have seen the major failure. Great job sir and have a great day!
I wish you'd review OneTigris's Gastropod. We're really fascinated by the design!
Good review, thank you
Looking to replace the Timberline 2 that I have had for 30 years. It was a choice between the Lite Fighter 2 or this tent. Thanks to this review and another viewer's comment about the coupon (I saved $32) I just ordered a Cosmitto in tan.
Very helpful!
Thank you
Hi Luke. Are the Stella and Cosmitto 2.0 interchangeable in terms of fly, poles and inner tent etc.? Looking forward to your response.
Great review!
I’m looking at taking this tent into the backcountry of Wyoming. We’re you able to test this tent in strong wind? Would you recommend a different tent for backpacking in strong wind country?
How is it with water leaking in from the doors? I noticed that the doors are very close to the mesh where you would lay your mat. It would seem that on a rainy day drops of water would drop down into the sleeping mat when opening the door.
Im quite new to tents and stuff and am trying to get a bit more knowledge for when i go hiking this summer. is the floor waterproof?
Looks like I found my new tent… this will work well for my son and I
By telling us it is a good backpacking tent we assume the weight is not a problem. Many backpacking tents have the same waterproof rating and weigh only 600 grams or just less than 1 KG. So much more stuff you can carry besides the tent. I do agree this tent is made for camping if you travel by car or bike. A lighter version with carbon materials might be the way to satisfy the most.
Exactly! I own this tent. Took it into the French Alps last year. But half the size, half the weight (or less) for these specific trips would be better. Went to Albania two weeks ago with hubba hubba from our guide, cosmitto 2.0 2.4kg would have been too heavy..
I have the onetigris solo homestead 2.0. Please review!
with the OG Cosmitto, mine wasnt seam sealed on the vents. I seam sealed it myself and havent had issues with leaking in the few times ive used it.
Have you ever tested waterproofing treatments to spray on tents or tarps? Do they do more damage than good?
First time commenting… just started watching your channel.. what brand is that cool watch on your arm??
Should I get this or the scaena for my dog and i? They’re about the same price on Amazon.
Rainy season is coming, I don’t intend to let that stop me. Thoughts?
I really like the squat, sleek look. It looks substantial, like it would handle high winds just fine. Roomier than my old 2--man VeloDome. Less of a vestibule, but more room to stow gear inside the tent, which is more secure than a vestibule.
I can definitely see a V 3.0 that has more of a vestibule. It's just tall enough for you to sit and make coffee out of the tent and out of the weather.
Cons:
1. Heavy. Not for backpackers. Fine for me, though!
2. Hard to imagine having such an array of tents that I'd need special labels. But I guess I can see how that would trip you up, if you had more than one tent from the same company that was similar.
3. Vents. You'd probably try to situate it so the vents faced away from the prevailing wind. It appears to be right or left-handed, so you can situate both of them into or away from the wind with a 180-degree rotation.
Last thought on the vents: If it's blowing hard enough that leakage is a problem, then you don't have to have them open very far to move a lot of air. Open them back up full when the winds die down.
Hi Luke, have you ever tried the Grampian 3 tent?
Could you test the terranova tents?
Hey Luke! I bought the Cosmitto 2.0 based on your recommendation. I haven’t tried it yet but I have used the Stella often (also based on your recommendation). The Stella is amazing. Anyway, I was looking online on Amazon, and I may have imagined it but One Tigris was calling the Cosmitto by another name. I checked just now and it’s the Cosmitto now. Am I going crazy?
Nope, they keep switching the name between cosmitto and Northgaze
What tent have those features??? How about Forclaz Mt500 2 person tent??
Hi, how do you rate the usability of this kind of tent with separate fly?
I mean what is the benefit of a waterproof tent if it is impossible to set up “dry” if it is already raining heavily?
Probably not an issue when camping close to civilization 😅 but would you go with this kind of setup for 7-8 days in the mountains with no cell cover and being at least 2 days from nearest help?
I have the OneTigris Stella and love the tent accept for the rolling of the vestibule doors is very annoying. This tent has same style, make it a pain to get in and out of tent. Luke, have you every looked at testing the "Near Zero" tents?
Crazy im actually staying in this tent atm ive been out here for 3 weeks now ive been through 3 severe thunderstorms in it its had zero problems
