I have had this very same tent for two years. We’ve been out 20+ times with it. Several times in 110° heat in the Mojave and several times in 25° ice overs at the upper Kern River in the winter. It’s been through multiple heavy rains and 30 mph gusts. It always performs great with no leaks whatsoever. If you take the time to set it up according to the conditions you’re in it’s truly an awesome tent for $200.
I've had the Teton Mountain Ultra 4 tent for, this is the third year. I love this tent. Never had any issues or leaking problems. Comfortable, with great ventilation for 3 seasons. Highly recommend it.
I own two Teton Sports cots, with easy assembly arms, and two sleeping pads for each. Very high quality. The lever-arm cot is very nice. At my age 76, I cannot imagine having to fight a cot without this fantastic device. The sleeping pad is very well made and looks great as well. They are a great company who put thought and quality in their products. I just recently snagged a North Face Stormbreak 2 tent at a bargain price for bikepacking but have yet to use it. I will let you know how that goes. I have the North Face Wawona 8 and love it.
Luke, it is so Rad to see you review my tent! Ive been using this tent for 2 years & i LOVE it. Hot mild or chilly its been great. And has come through thunderstorms w/ 70mph winds & golfball size hail w/o leaking.
Left my Teton one person tent setup in the back yard, and a heavy overnight snow flattened it. When I removed the snow there was no real damage, it stood up just fine. That was three years ago, and I still use it...: )
I bought this on May 21, 2024 through Amazon for 214.99. We just used it on a 50F no-wind overnighter, and it was fabulous. Straight-forward setup, quality construction, worked great. No condensation. Tons of room for the two of us. Ours came with only 3 of 4 guy lines and no ground cloth - although there was an empty stuff sack for one. We bought a REDCAMP Waterproof Camping Tent Tarp - 71"x83" before we went and it was awesome. Truly waterproof and well sewn. Thanks for the great video!
Luke recommended this tent to me awhile back. Finally used it last November thru January. I was working out of town so I decided to camp 4 days a week for 2 plus months. I was in an actual campground with electricity for comfort. For extra winter comfort, I had an electric heater and a cot inside. Cot was tight but fit. I put a movers blanket over the tent, under the fly to help hold the heat in. Only on the really cold 30 degree night is when I got condensation. Barely any at all. The real test was when 2 storms came in back to back. Fun times lol! I woke up to the tent folded on me from sideways winds. It survived. The second storm was even stronger. I tied it off better and the tent held up completely without any damage! The only issue was the sideways rain coming in under the fly even I tied it off as close to the ground as possible. The rain could have came through the top vent holes like Luke mentioned. Winds were every bit of 30 to 40 mph. It was a test for sure!! Regular rain and breezes, this 4 person tent held up great. Thanks for recommending this tent!!
I picked up the 2 person after your review. This tent is awesome. Kinda heavy but I appreciate your reviews. It led me to a good product and it was a great experience. Thank you.
Luke mate, I just wanted to shout you out for putting metric conversion in your videos. Even after 2 years of living stateside, I still think in metric haha. Appreciate it - Onya mate!
It IS worth noting that, when I did my research, the orange/yellow color does apparently really irritate flies and mosquitoes. I tend to agree that it's cool to blend in, but growing up in the 70s, we still had people summiting peaks for the first time, and even Everest was something pretty heroic. The number of North Face tents of this orange/yellow color on those expeditions kind of makes up for that part of my brain that wants me to blend in. I can still feel like an adventurer with orange/yellow. That Marmot stuff, though? Miss with with those Cotopaxi color schemes. :)
I'm a fan of Teton. My husband and I picked up a double Mammoth bag last year for car camping. It's gigantic but the comfiest I have ever been while camping as I run really cold. Wonderful customer service, too, as I had some questions before purchasing.
I use this tent in red in northern Minnesota during rainstorm. Bone dry. I love this tent for glamping style. It's such a quality made tent. And that red pops!
Re: Hydrostatic head rating...Someone asked this question in the review section of their website. Teton's Answer: The tent floor and rainfly have a rating of PU 3000mm. Plenty adequate. Hope this helps.
I thought at first that the tent was baby blue (that's what it looks like on my monitor). But white or light gray is an excellent color for summer (especially here in the south)! That light color will absolutely help keep it much cooler inside when the sun's blazing. I like this tent - a lot! Can't wait to see how it performs in the rain. Thanks!
Just tried this tent on the weekend it rained and some snow hail wind did great no problems this is my second tent from then I bought the three man tent 2 years ago after watching the video you made on the two man tent
After a lot of research I bought the Ultra 3P tent 2 years ago. I absolutely love it. Handled some strong winds and rain without issue. Luke is correct for the price there is no other competition to the quality Teton has. I mainly use for car camping.
So happy to see you reviewing this tent. I have the three person version which gives me plenty of room for two and gear inside. I also have the gray/silver color and it seems gray to me. Not white. I do wish they offered a brown version but that's why I'm eyeing the OneTigris Cosmitto 2.0 after seeing your review on that one. This four person version seems much larger by far. Looking forward to the rain testing. I've been a fan of Teton gear since having their first hydration packs. They have always stood by their products and have fantastic customer service. I also own three of their sleeping bags which have been serving me well for many years.
Luke, gaaaa, you could send a man to the poor house, those Snugpack blankets and now, this Teton tent. Whew, thing is I trust you, respect and appreciate your work. Keep doing the good work. Thanks from…east Tennessee.
Those pieces of fabric ate compression straps! I have been camping for decades and used dozens of tents! Oh my i should be ashamed but it is so nice to finally know what those were supposed to be for.
I'd just like to say, as a color blind person, color is very important to me in camping products. I do want earthy tones that will blend into a terrain without looking like camo or "tactical". I know you show the colors as you talk about them and some people are probably super bothered by this but I super appreciate it.
One thing to note. When I was shopping for this one, I was afraid to get the yellow/orange one becauase I thought it would attract bugs. I mean, bees, right? Turns out that two insects that do NOT like this color happen to be flies and mosquitoes. It was an easy choice at that point.
Great review! I have owned the teton ultra 4 for 3 years now and have never had one problem with leaks or stretching of the rain fly. The zippers are great and theres tons of ventilation. Ive used this tent over 50 times and its been flawless. I will continue to purchase from teton sports. I highly recommend giving them a try!
I'd think there's a large market for a tent like this... family camps, fishing camps, car/overland, and as you said, the pieces could be shared among the group to lighten loads if hiking/backpacking in to the camp. Those important features we love on good backpacking tents transferred over to "camping". :D As you have pointed out through many revues, many/most budget-friendly 4 person tents are not actually designed to handle significant weather events, and/or quality control is such that one might be semi-OK, another identical tent from the same shelf in the store might be a complete disaster with missing or damaged components etc. HOORAY for quality products that many individuals, families and organizations could afford and have a comfortable, dependable shelter!
I have several items from them and the quality is great!! I have the XXL cot, the 1 person vista tent, the extended rain fly to cover both tent and cot and 1 of the XXL Fahrenheit -25 degree sleeping bags. I am looking to add more gear from them since the quality is so great.
We have this in the 3 person. It’s an excellent tent. It’s never taken water through the vent on us. Excellent quality. Ours is yellow. Sometimes however I wish we had a 2nd fly in camouflage or brown for the odd times when we want to be stealth.
I never throw the silnylon ties away. They are perfect to tie around guylines because they are so light that they move with the breeze. That prevents tripping over the guylines
I have one of their canvas tents (10x10 Mesa), and if the quality is the same with the nylon tents, I'd expect NO issues. This is a good company, and they actually use/test their products!
I love my 1 person, and I'll likely be getting a 2 person soon. However, they need a green or camo tent. They are really not catering to a large part of the market that would buy from them if they had colors that blended into the environment.
Besides the weird positioning of the vents, the only other negative I have for this tent so far is that the rainfly zipper tends to get caught on the rainflap if you don't use a finger to block it when you're opening and closing the rainfly. I think it probably has something to do with the material Teton uses, but it's a minor annoyance. Other than that, the "4-person" size is perfect for a long camping weekend for two people. Plenty of room for a couple of cots or sleeping pads and your stuff.
Same with the 2P. AND the door zippers can be tough around that sharper corner if you're trying to reach over to use them, rather than being positioned behind them more.
It's funny you mention the crazy colors. I know you enjoy your stealth camping and all that, and so do I, but when it comes to these bigger tents, for whatever reason I like them in crazy colors, but my hammock, one person tents, sleeping rolls, etc, I much prefer to be natural/stealthy.
That's a Compact Four Person Tent. Great for two Adults - A kid or a Dog. I would go camping Alone with this Tent. A Three would be perfect for Two. This Tent -Two - with one of those Canopies would be perfect. Good Price - Four. Thanks.
I've had a Teton sleeping bag that I've used as a warm-weather bag since 2016. It is by no means fancy, but it has held up extremely well for what I originally paid for it.
The tent looks great. I will be honest in saying I don’t have one, but I do have tent stakes like the ones provided, those fold up like a sheet of paper in my area. If camping in soft ground, this looks to be great! If you live in hard or rocky ground, invest in proper tent stakes.
Then again, if it' rocky enough, you can just use big rocks to stake down. I was in the Rockies a few weeks ago. The ground is soft for about 1". After that, it's a series of small, round rocks that you're just not going to be able to defeat. The bigger rocks really helped. Regardless, I do always swap out with Groundhogs. Those shepherd's hooks aren't bad for holding the tent in place in the wind until you can stake it down properly, though.
I've used Sierra Designs tents for as long as I can remember. My Clearwing 2 has served me and my Labrador retriever very well. Ample room for the furkid and me, and light enough that I can backpack it in. I was looking for a car camping tent. Coleman, Eureka...not happening. I looked at the cheaper Sierra Designs tents and they all used fiberglass poles, which I didn't want. I ended up buying the Ultra 3. Fast setup Well-designed and constructed ( I found no flaws in mine), 2 top vents + 2 vestibule vents A palace for 1 person and a dog (or 2). Ultra 4 would be overkill for my purposes. Big doors, smooth zippers. A heavy duty 6x8 tarp ($10 at Home Depot) is the perfect footprint (Ultra 3 is 6x7) Grey (silver?) rainfly casts a nice neutral light inside. I don't use the supplied stakes. I haven't had this tent in the rain yet, but based on reviews here, I don't expect issues. A well-made, 3-person tent w/ aluminum poles, excellent ventilation for well under $200 seems like a really solid value.
Thanks for this review! This is right up my alley in what I'm looking for. I can't believe how expensive some of the other 4-6 P tents are. Your prior video on REI is a good example. Just crazy! I agree that a coyote brown/tan color would be awesome for this tent.
To be fair, REI does not set the prices for the non-REI products. Whether it arrives at REI or your local mom and pop outfitter, that Osprey Atmos 65 comes with the company's price tag on it.
@@cobbler88 REI does have the ability to sell any item at a price below MSRP, just like many other retailers. I bought a Camp Chef fire pit (new model too) which was close to 50% off. And look at their annual sales. Steep discounts on a lot of items. I would feel better about buying things there if they had regular gear at lower prices. In this day, it's too easy to find things online for a discount. Doesn't make sense to throw money away.
@@jyo8914 But those are not made in a vacuum. REI can't just drop prices on their own. Otherwise, retailers could just dump product just above wholesale to keep their doors open while their suppliers go out of business. There need to be deals worked out with manufacturers in order to do that.
They actually have some pretty solid equipment for the money. I've used a Teton sports hiking pack for most of my Alaska travels and it is holding up great
I've been looking for a good summer tent then I seen this on your channel going to buy it. I live in florida brutal heat. Thanks alot man I really like your channel great job!
I wish all tents color coded their fly. Like a lil kid and their shoes that they always put them on the wrong foot ... i do that with the fly every time. I also don't know why they make campin' gear like neaon blues and all kinds of cokors not to go with nature. I also would like to see more cayote browns and shades of greens
I haven't bought one in the past dozen years that doesn't do that. It's nice that it's at a point where it's almost not worth mentioning. It's a great feature.
Teton Mountain Ultra 3-season series of tents are well-proven, well-thought-out, very high value to cost tents. In this series of tents, the simplicity, overall materials selections, plus attention to detail with good Q/C... is all there. Company also stands by their products with good customer service. Here at Alaska Raft Connection, I have the 3-person version of this tent. I have done a few customization modifications to it for outfitting in a gear rental application. I wager Luke will find this tent to be rainproof for his testing, reasonably/seasonably comfortable and 3-season stormworthy.
I got a Teton sleeping bag for winter camping and it’s been great so far. I’ve really been getting into the brand and ordering more of their stuff lately
The 2P worked great for me in adverse conditions in the Rockies a couple of weeks ago. After hours in the rain (and it rained every night), I woke to find that my tent area was actually almost entirely inside of a large puddle that had formed beneath me. I unstaked, dragged the footprint then the tent over about 12', staked back down. There wasn't a single drop of water inside the tent that didn't drip off of me, and most of the floor had to have been immersed for quite awhile. There are a few weak points, but nothing huge.
That tent looks really impressive. I also wonder about the placement of the vents, but given Teton's track record, I'd have no reservations in buying this tent.
I don't have a tent from Teton sports, but i have many backpacks, and for the price, they are amazing value, plus I've seen a lot of people using sleeping bags and other products from them.
I was on a moto camping trip last week. It rained at least once every day. I took the three-person tent with me so as to have a place to store my gear. Nothing on the inside got wet.
Looks like a fantastic tent, so much mesh and I do agree, the guide out points just make it even better. For that price, it's well worth it. I just don't need it. Wish I did.
I would definitely say that is a very large four-person tent and Teton does work well with its tents I still have one from nearly 30 years ago The only problem is I need the poles replaced that thing went through hell and back and if I can just get the polls replaced it will go another 30 years
Hell yeah! Just got one used on Amazon for $100! Been looking for an affordable large tent for car camping and this one look quite nice actually! Thanks, Luke! 🤙🏼
The fly and the tub are the main parts that differentiate a good tent from a bad one. The only way to tell is if it keeps you dry in a rain storm. Most don't. This one looks decent but needs a better larger outside to inner tent entry area. Tub waterproofing is unknown.
I took my 2P version of this into the Rockies two weeks ago. It rained every day. The first day, I woke late in the afternoon to find that my tent was now almost entirely within a large puddle that had formed under me. I unstaked, dragged it 12' and restaked. The floor must have been immersed for awhile in water. There wasn't a single drop inside the tent that didn't drip off of me during the moving process. And when I hosed it all down days later, I didn't see any damage to the floor, which had been dragged from the water over needles, stones, etc. For me, the floor was solid.
This was a excellent review. I like how you are unbiased. I'd like to see you review some Marmot tents. I see a lot of good reviews on the Marmot Tungsten UL. I'm considering getting one based on my excellent experience using the Marmot EOS 1p. I think Marmot makes excellent tents for the price.
Enjoyed the video. I have a few Teton products and they seem very decent. Question: Did you ever do Part 4 of the Coleman Sundome 2? Part 1 was an overview, Part 2 was a before you buy, Part 3 was the rain test, and it did well in the rain test, after which you said you'd try it out for a few months and then make a video with your Final Thoughts. I don't think the Final Thoughts video ever came out. Cheap-but-serviceable tents like the Sundome 2 are important gateway tents, they're also important for people that want to do a little fair weather camping a few times a year and don't want to spend $1K on gear. I think they have their place. I know people look down on Coleman tents, but those "walmart tier" tents have probably gotten more people outdoors than any others, and I was very impressed that the Sundome 2 survived your rain test better than a number of other more expensive tents you've tested.
I love Teton! I have never had one of their tents, but I have had two of their backpacks and several of their sleeping bags. I am going to be looking for a new sleeping bag from them soon.
Regarding colors, it IS worth noting that, when I did my research, the orange/yellow color does apparently really irritate flies and mosquitoes. That made it a no-brainer for me. Plus, as much as one side of my brain wants to blend, the other side remembers growing up in the 70s when people were still summiting peaks for the first time, and even Everest was still a pretty big deal. The sight of all of those North Face orange/yellow tents on those expeditions makes the explorer side of my brain veto the blend-in side. That Marmot stuff, though? I was considering one of their Tungsten 2P tents when I purchased my 2P version of the Teton Mountain Ultra. Miss with with those Cotopaxi color schemes. :)
@@1111Overland Go with orange/gold. I looked online and apparently that color irritates flies and mosquitoes. I don't think bumblebees would show up in significant numbers to bother you. :)

You shouldn't need a tarp for a good tent. lol Americans.
Luke recommended this tent to me awhile back. Finally used it last November thru January. I was working out of town so I decided to camp 4 days a week for 2 plus months. I was in an actual campground with electricity for comfort.

The real test was when 2 storms came in back to back. Fun times lol! I woke up to the tent folded on me from sideways winds. It survived. The second storm was even stronger. The rain could have came through the top vent holes like Luke mentioned. Winds were every bit of 30 to 40 mph. It was a test for sure!!
Regular rain and breezes, this 4 person tent held up great.
Thanks for recommending this tent!!
Wow, what an experience. You got a cot in there? Thats huge!
Teton Sports is one of the finest companies in the outdoor space. I love their stuff! My go to supplier for all things outdoors.
I picked up the 2 person after your review. This tent is awesome. Kinda heavy but I appreciate your reviews. It led me to a good product and it was a great experience. Thank you.
Luke mate, I just wanted to shout you out for putting metric conversion in your videos.

Agreed about the colors, there should always be a dark or earth tone color a lot of people like it when their campsite doesn’t draw attention
A forest green would be incredible.
It IS worth noting that, when I did my research, the orange/yellow color does apparently really irritate flies and mosquitoes.

I've had a Teton sleeping bag that I've used as a warm-weather bag since 2016. It is by no means fancy, but it has held up extremely well for what I originally paid for it.
Own 1. Great tent. Highly recommend
That is a good looking tent. If that tent Works without leaking I'm getting one
Fast setup
Well-designed and constructed ( I found no flaws in mine),
2 top vents + 2 vestibule vents
A palace for 1 person and a dog (or 2). Ultra 4 would be overkill for my purposes.
Big doors, smooth zippers.
A heavy duty 6x8 tarp ($10 at Home Depot) is the perfect footprint (Ultra 3 is 6x7)
Grey (silver?) rainfly casts a nice neutral light inside.
I don't use the supplied stakes.
I haven't had this tent in the rain yet, but based on reviews here, I don't expect issues. A well-made, 3-person tent w/ aluminum poles, excellent ventilation for well under $200 seems like a really solid value.
I don't think it's going to leak and I like that tent
Looks big enough for a cot or two or a cot and chair with a small table. Going in my wishlist.
I'm looking forward to the waterproof test on this one.
That tent looks pretty spacious, looks sweet.❤
I got a Teton sleeping bag for winter camping and it’s been great so far. I’ve really been getting into the brand and ordering more of their stuff lately
I agree the vents could be a concern for wind driven rain
I thought I liked this one, but it's just clear mesh. How noce for the MFG. No this one is not the one. Thank you for reviewing this one., Good Job!
Looks like sky blue on video. I have been very interested in the Mountain Ultra tents ever since you reviewed the 2-person model.
Would love a black or olive green forsure!!
I've always been a fan of Teton Sports!
Nothing on the inside got wet.
i have several teton items that i love... no complaints with teton sports at all.
What a clean neat tent so convenient and comfortable.
I really like the larger tents reviews, great job!
Good job Teton. I like the color and that would be my pick.
Looks like a fantastic tent, so much mesh and I do agree, the guide out points just make it even better. For that price, it's well worth it. I just don't need it. Wish I did.
Got the 2. Floor of tent came with numerous pin holes and leaked first night. Company sent me the inner new. ❤
Wow. Not often a company gets that good a review.
Love my Teton Sports gear. Its quality and value, two things that are rare from other sellers.
All their stuff i have bought from them is shockingly good for the Money you spend. Their sleeping bags are incredible for the money
The lighter the color, the cooler the tent, all things, otherwise, being equal. For an all-mesh summer tent, a light-colored fly makes sense.
I really like every Teton Sports product I own. It's affordable quality for casual campers
I liked there backpack was very rugged and very comfortable
Depending upon the rest of your review, this could be the tent for me this Fall. We have a 10 day camping trip coming up in September-October.
I have that tent and the solo version. They're great.
The 2P is a tank as well.
I love watching your channel. Cheers to you!
Love my Teton Ultra 2
I’ve never had an issue with any of their gear but it’s been a while since I bought anything from Teton. The camp pillow was my last purchase.
It’s looks like a solid tent.👍🏻
I love Teton! I have never had one of their tents, but I have had two of their backpacks and several of their sleeping bags. I am going to be looking for a new sleeping bag from them soon.
I Love my Teton tent! 🏕
That’s a good looking 👀 tent. But I bet it’s hard too keep that fly looking clean!!!!! But it’s good looking. ❤️🇬🇧💕
🏴🏴🏴
It looks so much lighter in this video than the website pics!
@@1111Overland Go with orange/gold. I looked online and apparently that color irritates flies and mosquitoes. I don't think bumblebees would show up in significant numbers to bother you. :)
Good job titon, will be looking into them for some gear.
Nice vid, could you use the metric system as well? Would be really nice
This looks very close to the Mountainsmith Evo 4, which Iike. I wish my mountainsmith was fully mesh like this.
