S55 Power Combo! NGK Spark Plugs & Dinan Ignition Coils

- Today I'm installing (and reviewing) a set of NGK spark plugs and Dinan ignition coils for my 2017 M3. This is my first time replacing spark plugs, so I wanted to make a sort of ride-along video for other first timers who want to start doing their own maintenance.
Other than the chore of everything you have to remove in the S55 engine bay to get to the spark plugs, changing them was pretty easy (and ignition coils are insanely easy). Much like any other maintenance task you've never done before, I was a little nervous to do this but I took my time and tried to stay organized which made everything go smoothly.
I'm not sure if it's power of suggestion or placebo effect (not sure that's applicable here) but the car feels a little bit better now. Little bit better throttle response, feels like she runs a bit more smoothly, one or two very subtle noises I was hearing before that I'm not hearing now so overall I'm super happy with the results.
I did notice a misfire on cold start afterwards (using BimmerLink), none at idle, and then a few very sporadic ones while driving. Based on what I've read, these can be expected, but I'm keeping an eye on them and will also compare again after I tune the car. I wish I would have scanned for them before hand to see if there was any difference but based on how the car actually feels, I'm not concerned.
Anyway, to any other first timer out there, this wasn't hard just time consuming. Save yourself some money and get to know your car better!

I enjoyed this thank you.
Glad to hear brother, thank you for taking the time to comment 🍻
Dude I love the ride along video’s perfect for me👍
Awesome, glad you like them! I know there are a ton of videos out there that show you how to do oil changes and spark plugs and whatever else in these cars, but really the point here is to show them from an absolute first-timer's perspective and, hopefully, encourage people who want to get into doing their own maintenance to give it a shot. Lots more coming in 2024 👍
You’re 100% right and it’s really refreshing to see, I know I’m screwed when a DYI-er starts with “ all you have to do is…”. Keep doing what you’re doing man and you get tons of subscribers, you have a loyal fan here 🫡
Haha definitely know that feeling. Thanks so much brother.. really appreciate you!
I didn’t know about Dinan coils 😮 I stuck with the OEM when i did installed NGK spark plugs(.022) a few months back 😅
6:40 I had put a blue rubber glove over the terminal under the hood
Great video as always 💯
Thanks brother! 🙏
yeah the glove would have definitely been less hassle.. if I trusted myself to not unknowingly knock it off and then touch metal I'd do that 🤣
