In moto cross we don’t reuse grips. If they’re falling off or loose then more than likely they are stretched, torn or worn. My buddies and I just replace them, pro taper is in pretty much every Powersports store and they’re quality so that’s what I use. They are super cheap and easy to install, a tip twist the grips on. It spreads the glue evenly around the bar and they go on a little easier.
I am not whatever a gsxr rider is, but if you try this on anything approximating a plastic or nylon throttle sleeve, you will be buying a new throttle sleeve or riding with the grip stuck halfway up the throttle sleeve. For that you need to just glue either ends once its already mostly on.
If you have an air compressor use compressed air. Blow it under the grip while you are putting it on/off. It's the same principle how hovercrafts work.
Side note: brake clean destroys and shortens the life span of plastics and rubber. While you won't notice it at first, I've def seen it crack both material from over time/already weak material from wear
1. Depends on the brake cleaner. 2. Depends on the specific polymer compound. 3. UV rays are doing more damage than one in a blue moon spray with what is primarily alcohol.

The common solvent ingredients in carb cleaner are acetone, methanol, ethyl benzene, and toluene. That's a very similar list. A big reason you should never use carb cleaner on things other than carburetors is the residue. Its job is the prevention of adhesion. So in 13 years, you managed to pick a worse product for removing grips.

I actually use 91% alcohol to break apart the grip glue and tear off the old grips, then clean it, let it air dry, and then use grip glue for new ones. If I HAD to use carb cleaner, it’d only be on a plastic throttle sleeve but again I always have 91% floating around. We were discussing between the two products not what I actually do
Guys legit story here. I started last year on a k1 gixxer thaw. One day I was wondering why my throttle was lose and I was fucking up my clutchless up shifts. Well, it wasn't the throttle, it was the grip. That glue on the grip looked exactly as what this dude was using. However, that's not what I've used. I just wrapped the throttle barrel in a bit of newspaper to take the slack and slid the grip over it. 6 months in and it's still good.
Applying glue on inside wall of grip would spread glue evenly rather than on handle since, when sliding the grip on handle, the glue applied on handle would slide and pushed towards the inner end of handle leaving the outer half of grip wall with I sufficient, uneven glue.
I'm planing on buying a gixxer as my first personal bike. I've riden before so I know how to ride I just gotta learn and practice more. But I'm either going for a gixxer 600 or whatever I can afford (maybe a yamaha)
