The thing to remind new riders of is "uneven pavement" at the bottom of hills, near curbs/gutters. It's tough to remember to use the foot opposite of the dips to keep yourself from falling over.
Good point, that's the trick.... if you don't (maybe you have to stop too quickly in an emergency) you might have to shuffle seat position VERY quickly... or you'll struggle not to drop it. Focus on keeping that 'hunk of steel' vertical (until you are moving at some speed) Then open the throttle - you earned it. 🙂

Good tips. I sit at 5'3" 150lbs and after a few hundred to a thousand miles, I adjust my suspension usually one notch above middle. That gives me enough rebound for cornering with my weight, but just the right amount of sag. I just did a similar video a few weeks ago showing how I manage a stock R6 and Z650. Each bike sits very different, and requires totally different technique for stops and starts. The Z650 is a great short person or possible beginner bike. Keep up the great vids!

Smart lady, very good advice. I began biking in 1967 when all bikes were far less tall. Nowadays what I consider to be a giant bike (my GTR1400) is very heavy, with a high centre of gravity, and a far too high seat height - '.m 5ft. 9 ins. and on the balls of my feet!!!!!!! As any racer will confirm, for max. handling bikes need to be light, with a low centre of gravity, and low seating. Manufacturers routinely break these basic principles, and see only the need to inflict on us complex (immensely expensive to repair) unnecessary electronics. It's all extremely silly. The bike of mine I mentioned boasts a frame and wheels painted with ONE COAT of WATER COLOUR PAINT! For heaven's sake! So, to return to the subject - a vast number today's bikers are by necessity into shorter rear suspension and / or 'Lust Racing' suspension linkages, and / or lowered seats. And as girlie said - softening the suspension all round. Although girlie manages beautifully in daylight on flat ground, rest assured that slowly manaovering a very heavy bike after dark on uneven ground on tiptoe is an entirely different matter, and a damn good recipe for dropping the machine no matter how clever/ experienced one thinks one is. P.S. A sound temporary fix for ladies are high heels. I joke not.
Today we went to the Swiss bike in Zurich and tried many bikes and I really did not get very well to the floor and I was disappointed but now that I see your video I have a chance I liked the kawasaki versys 300 since I want to buy a motorbike for trips and arrived at the floor but very little lol I am new subscriber greetings from a small Swiss town called galgenen
I just bought a scooter, and i’m 4,10, and i get disappointed cuz i'm súper short and my feet don’t touch the ground, I was about to give up, until I saw this video! Thank u so much!
Good comment from a reader that seat width matters! Not just for reaching the ground but for hanging off. Also, I can't touch quite as easily as you. Just swallow your pride if you are trying to back into a spot and can't get enough traction. Get off and roll it! Dropping your bike (especially if a gravelly surface) just isn't worth it!
5'5 human here. Also former Honda CBR500R owner. Pretty much did the same thing - softeing the suspension. But lol, being a noob back then, I didnt know to do that for 🤔 about a month before I asked the shop to have it adjusted... good times
Say girl - you're video was extremely helpful! I'm 34 5'4 and just getting into motorcycling! I was apprehensive because all the bikes were considerably larger than me - but i did research and found a couple video's on short riders, never came across you're until now, and your video was night and day compared to the others i had watched- it seemed the others were tall people trying to describe what short riders "WOULD DO" , however, you're a short rider saying what "YOU DO" ! lol... love it plus you're little frame is cute! Be safe - Joey B
Hey, small bikes are awesome too! Don't let those macho assholes try to convince you that you *need* a 600... I hate that! I can have just as much fun on a Grom or Z125 and not die. Thanks. Small can be even more fun! Haha
I’m 4’10” too!!! I ride a slammed Ninja 300, but can only tip toe on one side still... so I ain’t thinking about upgrading to a bigger bike anytime soon
@@daisyw23 Are you diehard into sport bikes, or have you considered a cruiser? There are some pretty nice cruisers out there including the new Rebel that have a crazy low seat. My sister rides a suzuki GZ250, and she's 5'1 and sits flat foot with her knees bent! If you're really into sport bikes though, that's cool too! Make it work for you! You definitely have my respect :] P.S. After looking, Kawasaki actually makes a pretty sick looking cruiser, the Vulcan S! I don't know if you've seen it, but if you like Kawi (I do! I LOVE Ninjas and the Z125!) it's a pretty sick looking bike! It's got sexy curves and looks fast as hell! It's a 650 so it's a bit of a jump from your current bike, but it's just an example of how nice cruisers can be and not all look like Harleys or old man bikes. Good luck and ride safe! :D
I have a vstrom 1000 with a seat height of 34 inches after padding added, my inseam is 29.5 inches, I too put my foot onto the left foot peg and swing my leg over like she does with her super-moto, someone described this to me like mounting a horse and I have to agree, I could swing my leg over if I was 20 yrs younger but the hips don't lie anymore just hurt LOL
I really loved the V-Strom when I tried it but I got scared of the height. When the ground is slippery, even with good boots it gets really tricky to stay on tiptoes.
I'm 5'2" and have been a little bummed that all I can fit stock is a cruiser; this really made me feel like I can do a sports bike and ride around with my husband! Thanks!
YOU JUST GAVE ME A CONFIDENCE BOOST! THANK YOU. I'm 5'4", currently 135lbs and shopping for my 1st bike. I pretty much told myself i wouldn't go beyond 500cc for my 1st bike; so i am looking at the Ninja 400 abs & the honda cbr500r. seeing you on this bike makes me realize a larger bike is possible down the road. thanks again!
You’re super funny! I’m also 5’3.5” so this was super helpful. I have a ktm rc390 and it’s fine for my height but if I wanted a diff bike, at least now I know :)
I'm 5'3" and started on a Kawasaki eliminator 125. I can flat foot it even on the passenger seat. I went to the local dealer to try a few bikes and I was looking at a Ninja 300 or maybe a bigger cruiser.
I am a 5'5" tall guy with a 29" inseam and a WR250R. I like the kick stand trick, I usually look for a curb for getting on and off. I keep a concrete block near the garage for getting on and off.I have added a lowering link and slid the fork tubes up 18mm. The bike is a lot of fun...could use a little more pop, but the height is a real issue on single track. I keep getting into situations that if I could reach the ground would save me from falling over. The WR is a tank for a dirt bike and it is tough to pick up. I was hoping for a dirt bike, but will be limited to forest roads and street riding. What I need is something like the Honda CRF150 made street legal.
I'm 5'4 and ride a Bandit 600, not saying its the biggest bike but lots of top heavy weight. And I am perfectly fine its all in your head, you can do everything with just your left foot.. :)
Dirt bike mods for short riders include lowering front fork in triple clamp, cutting seat foam, cutting / shortening sub frame, rear shock spring adjust- change rate for less rider weight ( check race sag), shock linkage lowering kit, 18 inch rear wheel vs. 19.
First video of yours I’ve watch, I’m a short rider and appreciate the tips. Cuz there is a few bikes I’m looking at some have scared me away due to seat height but this will help change that.
People think it's just height, but the length of the legs isn't all... the width of your hips, (typically women have wider hips) and the width of the seat make a difference, a wide seat will eat up some of your leg length as you straddle it, so women can usually fit on a wider seat more comfortably. Your weight also has to do with it, a small light person wont compress the bike as much, even with adjusting the shocks, when a heavier person will drop the bike more. Also take into account, some people are small, but have bigger feet.. I'm 5'6 but have a size 11 Nike foot. So my big ass feet make up for short legs when I use my tippy toes. So all in all, with the same exact bike ten people of the same height will fit on it differently, some will be flat foot, some tippy toe, some won't fit at all... you just have to try out a few bikes and see what fits you.
some great advice for shorter riders. Confidence is key, and trying out a variety of bikes is important. I'd advise starting lower seat, and narrower through the inseam to start with and gain confidence though
Got my 5 foot, 100 pound lady a Honda Rebel 500. Perfect. Maximum fun and she has no ego problem making some satement. Low seat height, lightweight, and plenty of power for the highway. I didnt consider a supersport bike or large, heavy cruiser.
Emilee Lynch Same!! I've always pictured her as like a Philippino or something. She just reminds me if a gal I went to high school with from the Philippines.
It’s helpful. I’m 5’1”. I went to the dealership and sat on a Ninja 400. I hear that’s the best starter bike. Def love the ninjas but I will for sure have to lean.
At 5'1" and 115 lbs with a 28" inseam, I can't touch *on either side* of my stock-height Street Triple R if someone holds it upright. And yes, the suspension sag *is* set up for me. The trick? On one toe at all stops! If I slide off the seat, I can flat-foot it on one side, but only if the road camber is juuuust riiiiight 😂
Another tip when testing sitting bikes in a dealership, if the bikes has newer tires or new tires ,it's more realistic fitting, because soon or later you need to change ties, new tires will always be taller because center of the tires are never worn-out. I just changed to a sets of q3, I can't even tip toes, just barely. I have to use 1 feet for now. Also a slightly higher tire psi will increase height
I'm 5"2 and I ride a little Libero 125 around my City. Still tiptoe though. Uphills are all about shifting your weight to the left foot and loving the shit out of the back brake as you Rev. This video Is solid.
I only just started riding a month ago, I am 5ft 2 and got a CBR500r as a first bike, thanks for this video, I didn't think of softening the suspension to help with my height so I am definitely going to do this now (I am super light too, so the suspension is like a rock at the moment when I sit on it). Cheers.

I joke not.
"I am a 100 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes..." Lol xDDDDDDD
100 *lbs (lot of bull shit!) Please go METRIC! Bangkok-Johnny, (THAILAND METRIC COUNTRY)* ua-cam.com/video/zH73UHVRh2k/v-deo.html
Super helpful. Also your confidence on both bikes is unreal!
So helpful. There are not that many female riders putting up any videos, so it's nice to see. Answered a lot of questions I had about height.
how do you not have 500k+ subs, your content is so good lol. like the editing is rly good... keep it up
because no ass no boobs and no face
Sven C Lol
I just bought a scooter, and i’m 4,10, and i get disappointed cuz i'm súper short and my feet don’t touch the ground, I was about to give up, until I saw this video! Thank u so much!
🤣🤣🤣🤣✌
Here even kids can ride scooters. Its easier because you have a stepboard. Dani Pedrosa is 5'2 but competes in MotoGP driving tall bikes.
Thanks this helped from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Good comment from a reader that seat width matters! Not just for reaching the ground but for hanging off. Also, I can't touch quite as easily as you. Just swallow your pride if you are trying to back into a spot and can't get enough traction. Get off and roll it! Dropping your bike (especially if a gravelly surface) just isn't worth it!
5'5 human here. Also former Honda CBR500R owner. Pretty much did the same thing - softeing the suspension. But lol, being a noob back then, I didnt know to do that for 🤔 about a month before I asked the shop to have it adjusted... good times
A very lovely girl with tons of courage and confidence. Just inspiring. Good work.
When you are 1.65m tall you appreciate those videos.
Thanks ^^
*Juan Benito del Castillo. Thank, Gracias, Merci fo the METRIFICATION Bangkok-Johnny, (THAILAND METRIC COUNTRY)* ua-cam.com/video/zH73UHVRh2k/v-deo.html
I'm 5'6" 135 lbs and was thinking I might struggle a bit, but this has me convinced otherwise now... thanks shorty! Haha love the videos :)
Great video, AGHB! Thanks from a short rider in Brazil!
Thank u!!! I have the same issue with my Ducati hypermotard.
What year? And how tall are you hun did you reach the ground??
lmao im 4ft 10" so i stick with my grom lmao
Hey, small bikes are awesome too!
Don't let those macho assholes try to convince you that you *need* a 600... I hate that!
I can have just as much fun on a Grom or Z125 and not die. Thanks.
Small can be even more fun! Haha
you dont need a 600..... but you sure are missing out
😂🤘same
I’m 4’10” too!!!
You definitely have my respect :]
Thanks!
Yamaja R3
YOU JUST GAVE ME A CONFIDENCE BOOST! THANK YOU.
I'm 5'4", currently 135lbs and shopping for my 1st bike. I pretty much told myself i wouldn't go beyond 500cc for my 1st bike; so i am looking at the Ninja 400 abs & the honda cbr500r.
seeing you on this bike makes me realize a larger bike is possible down the road. thanks again!
5'4 ??? 5'3 ??? *Please go METRIC! Bangkok-Johnny, (THAILAND METRIC COUNTRY)* ua-cam.com/video/zH73UHVRh2k/v-deo.html
amazing, its like a skill they should teach at msf classes
1.9k dislikes were simps who didn't like when she said she was single
Facts 😂
You’re super funny! I’m also 5’3.5” so this was super helpful. I have a ktm rc390 and it’s fine for my height but if I wanted a diff bike, at least now I know :)
im 5''2" and literallry crawling over my new xr150,825mm seat, thanks for this tip to mount my moto...cheers mate!
I'm 5'3" and started on a Kawasaki eliminator 125. I can flat foot it even on the passenger seat. I went to the local dealer to try a few bikes and I was looking at a Ninja 300 or maybe a bigger cruiser.
CycleCruza i found your girlfriend
lol
SamRollins TheWanderer haha lol

(well, it's not cold really, it's uh. . . well, ... . . uh. . . . um)
6"7... can't even look cool on a crotchrocket 😐... struggle is real
Wow that intro shows a very different personality!!
LOVE UR VID!!
i’m literally 4’9 and i wanna get a bike so bad 😭😂
spacegvrl im 4’9 and I just got myself a grom :) im on my tippy toes but I can ride it
Get a grom
It's ok on flat roads .but
can you face stop up the hills? I think will be very hard to start up hills.
right bro
Dopest intro god damn
Dirt bike mods for short riders include lowering front fork in triple clamp, cutting seat foam, cutting / shortening sub frame, rear shock spring adjust- change rate for less rider weight ( check race sag), shock linkage lowering kit, 18 inch rear wheel vs. 19.
First video of yours I’ve watch, I’m a short rider and appreciate the tips. Cuz there is a few bikes I’m looking at some have scared me away due to seat height but this will help change that.
Good video. But it's not your height that matters. It's your inseam.
5'2" with a 35-inch inseam, I wanna see that dude hahaha
How tall are you, Mike?
i m 5.1 feet and not enough
to supermoto
Remember Ricky Carmichael, he rode the 450cc bike like the 80cc.
5'1 ??? *Please go METRIC! Bangkok-Johnny, (THAILAND METRIC COUNTRY)* ua-cam.com/video/zH73UHVRh2k/v-deo.html
Can you do a face reveal
Puma 13 she said she would do a face reveal at 100k... but for some reason i cant stop imagining her as an asian.
Emilee Lynch Same!! I've always pictured her as like a Philippino or something. She just reminds me if a gal I went to high school with from the Philippines.
Puma 13 she deff. has freckles.. maybe? lol
I think she is Asian cause look at her boyfriend Brian
deff Asian & I am a midget. lm = lil midgie. midgie + lil Asian = cute couple
The weight of the motor I cant carry:(
It’s helpful.
If I slide off the seat, I can flat-foot it on one side, but only if the road camber is juuuust riiiiight 😂
hey its z
i am 152 cm but no problem
i am a soldier of Gorkha Regiment
of Indian army
#PKMBK sir✌
All respect to Ghurkas!
I am a sikh but i love nd respect gorkha 's
In my country... We need to be 170cm to be a soldier...
and your point is???
"brown hair, brown eyes, single and ready"
YAY!
"I'm just kidding I'm not single"
:'(
2:45 .... is that a hint to try?
JP Criddle you got it.
I would just ride then edit a voice over in later.
i bet passing cars are like wtf as bike bloggers wave ther arms around full convo mode lol.
I wonder how Suburban delinquent fits. #babylegs #OompaLoompa
Gsxr 750s are deceptively easy to flatfoot. Don't know what it is
I dint know why I'm watching this, I'm 190cm (or about 24 cabbages, 6 smoked eals for you Americans)
Very helpful. I'm 5'5 and I'm looking into buying my first bike. Didn't know about the softening of the springs. Thanks
I only just started riding a month ago, I am 5ft 2 and got a CBR500r as a first bike, thanks for this video, I didn't think of softening the suspension to help with my height so I am definitely going to do this now (I am super light too, so the suspension is like a rock at the moment when I sit on it). Cheers.
You may be of short height but you have longs legs lol
Music on this was siiiiick
Biker babe, half way through the video and you still haven't started with information . Try having important info in the begging ppl have short attention spans .
Thanks for this! Looking to buy my 1st bike this October. I'm 5"2, and yes girl. This video was super helpful!
Im 5'6'' filipino guy but this is helpful especially in handling my MX bike. i still reduce its height a little bit for me to totally fix both of my feet on the ground. thanks for video
I'll like it more if you remove your helmet while explaining 😄
Thanks helpful tip of 17” wheels on the WR250R
This video was really helpful. I am really thankful that you were able to make this video. Thank you!
I'm only 5'8", experienced and looking at a Nuda 900 (from sports), this video was VERY helpful for me, thanks from NZ.
AMAZING!!!!! Get it girl!!!!!! This is so motivating!!! I’m on a ninja 400 but upgrading to 660 w out lowering, this helps a lot ❤️🙌🏻
@bikerbyher yes!!! Since then I got a Ducati panigale, and I have a Yamaha R1s! Best decision of my life!
