Tired of terrible icebreakers? I prepared a free downloadable, printable set of icebreaker questions and several no-cringe activities right here: weand.me/tools/
Chad, do you recommend using all the questions and providing each question to the groups? or do we just select one question and distribute amongst the groups? TIa for your response
It really depends on the context and purpose of the gathering. If you have a really defined purpose, I might choose a specific question that helps everybody relate and connect around the purpose. On the other hand, if the purpose of the gathering, I love to infuse a bunch of questions into the space to spark a variety of conversations. And Question Swap is easily my favorite way to do that in groups of 12+ people: weand.me/ideas/large-group-connection-question-activity/
It is a magical phrase indeed! It informs so, so much of the way that I design an experience with a group. Even if the gathering is really content heavy, I'm asking "how can Connection Before Content" make the content come alive?
Fun! I'd be curious to hear a groups reaction to the two phrases: Connection Creators. And "Connection Before Content." I think the framing matters just as much as the language. If not more.
@@chad.littlefield I use connection before content in our camp staff training, and I am looking at how to reframe our activities and that is where i have been playing with Connection Creators. I will let you know the responses.
Hey Chad, I’ve got to present my boring yearly objectives to a team I’ve worked with for more than 15 years. What are the ice breakers would you recommend for those I see day in and out
First of all, I would check this out to learn How To Make Boring Topics More Interesting And Engaging: ua-cam.com/video/-_PYJUpks8A/v-deo.html Then...I think you might click well with my video on "teambuilding for the established team": ua-cam.com/video/-xCQSJpiWgg/v-deo.html Feel free to send over a specific question in the comments of either of those too! I'd be delighted to help make your objectives-and your group-"sing." Haha.
Love the idea! Thank you! On an unrelated note, how do record your video like this - split screen with a writing board? And what are you using to write - ipad? Thank you for potentially entertaining my silly questions!
Not silly questions and happy to answer! This video is a deep dive into my whole tech setup if you're curious: ua-cam.com/video/EZ_QudlLmPc/v-deo.html But in short, I use eCamm Live and the app, Notability, on my iPad. To be fair though...I also have an entire editing team that chops up the videos afterward too.
So I am responsible to do some icebreakers for a worshop on conflict resolution I chose two but i prefer to have more than 3 in case...is this ok in this workshop?
Perfect 👍👍 Challenge by choice haha. I like to remind everyone of their free will. All a (good) facilitator does is lay out choices to hopefully jump start actually important and meaningful conversation and connection. Has nothing to do with "getting" resistant people to participate in BS against their will. Make it purposeful...or highly consider not doing it.
Our free, downloadable tools are here: weand.me/free And the physical Connection Toolkit is available here: weand.me/store/ Glad you enjoyed the video, Njuguna.

I'll be using these in ALL of my future meetings and workshops. Thanks!
Woohoo!! Love hearing that. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I am with you. Icebreaker is a brutal word. I call them Strategic connection moments (SCM)
The framing of whatever you are doing typically matters even more than WHAT you are doing for sure.
Just wanted to say that I appreciate all the content you put out!
Thanks, David! I have made it for you (and others of course), so I'm way glad you are finding value in it.

Glad it landed at the right moment for you, Tricia! 👍👍
Crazy cool this guy. I love the way he explains whatever topic he talks about

I have been playing with the term Connection Creators instead of Ice Breakers.

For sure, this exercise is all about choosing the right question and debriefing it.
I am the resistant one. Instead of sitting there I get up and use the bathroom.
