The guys chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their profundo BASS handle it! 🤣 LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. (The addition of Chance and his lower range to the group has freed Tim up to showcase his amazing 5-octave range a lot more!) Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Chance had the bass line for the whole song! He sang bass in his former group, Street Corner Symphony, and he usually takes the bass part if Tim is singing a lead.
Yes, a song with surprises. Tim who goes tenor, Austin and Rob who also hit different notes than usual, the inhuman vocal percussion and as a great end to the surprises the incredible bass of Chance. Simply fabulous
Drop everything and react to Playing With Fire. You will see a different side of the HomeFree men. And WOW! Am I ever here for it. It's an original written by Austin, Andrew Trufano, Ernie Halter and Jeffrey East. It is no kidding a Hot one. Very sensual. I know. Seems out of their wheelhouse. Just watch . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Loved your reaction the confusion that we all had when they released this 😂 This is the reason why we tell reactors to wait to react to this song till they know each member and their range.😊
Adding Chance really set Tim free to do more baritone and tenor parts because Chance can easily cover the bass. "Hey, guys. Let's do this Cam cover in the original key". "Sure, but we need three tenors and Adam will be busy with Percussion". Actually, Chance could probably have done it, too, but this was an opportunity to show off his bass as well as Tim's tenor. The behind the scenes for this one has been released, you might enjoy that.
The Holy Grail of HF videos! Mayday will always be #1 on my long list of favorites from them. Would recommend checking out the original version by Cam, they sang it in the same key she does.
Great reaction! One of my favorite Home Free songs, too. This one always blows reactors minds. They all have amazing ranges, but Tim really shines in this one. If you listen to his solo work, you get a lot more of his amazing tenor!
Welcome to the Vocal Range Monster that is Tim Foust. There's so much going on here, not the least of which is Chance. He did an amazing job keeping the bass going until that last massive note. They all did so well challenging our assumptions. Thanks so much for the great reaction.
Yeah, Tim has a 5+ octave range and Chance has a 4+ octave range. That gives HF a lot of flexibility in their arranging. Tim sings a lot of little bits and pieces of high harmony in their songs (as does Adam Rupp on occasion). The one that comes to mind is "Love Me Like That" where there's a high harmony above Austin's lead at points that's right where Rob's voice breaks between chest and head, so Tim does it -- just goes up, beans that high harmony, and then drops back down to bass like it's no big thing.
Tim has a 5 or 6 octave range. Even at the end he was singing a harmony higher than Rob. Tim has says that when guys ask him how to be able to sing low like he does, he tells them to work on singing higher first.😅
This one has blown a lot of people's minds! And, if you ask Tim who has the widest range, he will say Adam Rupp the beat boxer! Their primary goal is to find who sounds the best on each song. They really support each other and don't appear to have any ego trips going on. They are all so incredibly talented, so they work at giving the others their time in the spotlight. Great reaction and by the way, great shirt too! This song was originally done by Cam and in the same key that she does it in!
Loved your expression when Tim went high and Chance went low. LOL. I love how the guys can do stomp cadence while singing ( I have trouble chewing gum and walking at the same time) Hope you check out Home Free's newest release soon, "Playing With Fire", it's an Austin original and completely different from anything they've done before. It's HOT!
Mayday is a cover song, originally sung by Cam. And the boys switch things around pretty often. Tim has a five octave range, so he can easily hit the tenor registry. When he's singing lead (or another part), Chance (baritone/bass range) fills in with the bass. I really enjoyed your reaction.
I love seeing the look on your face when you heard Tim and again when you heard Chance. This is one of their best covers especially for the shock factor most people are asked to wait till they have gotten to know how they normally sound so they can get that shock factor. The talent these guys have just blows my mind. This is my favorite reaction from you😊
This is a cover of a song by Cam - I think if I were the original singer I'd hate to have Home Free cover it ('cuz their cover is usually even better). Of course the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific - they always are! They're all vocal chameleons - Tim has a 5+ range; Rob & Austin have an opera aria duet; check out Austin's cover of "Singed, Sealed, Delivered" (on his channel) and then just keep going!
Surprise!!! Just when you think you "know" Home Free, they up their game and you discover even more talent amongst them. After you've seen more of their work, you will get to the point the rest of the Home Fries are at. Nothing they do will surprise you. In my humble opinion, there is nothing musical they can't do if they put their minds and talents to it. This is a great cover. Great reaction.
Tim has a five octave range. Adam Chance also sings bass and often does the bass when Tim can’t. You’re right though. That’s the reason we all tell new listeners to Home Free to wait for three to four songs before listening to Mayday. It really shows how amazing these guys really are. If you haven’t listened to Brothers in Arms you should and please check out Misty Mountain with Peter Hollens ft. Tim Foust. It unbelievable!!
This is actually a Cam cover, and they did a fantastic job with. Tim's has a five octave range. Chance is actually a bass but sings baritone most of the time. That is except when Tim has a lead. Really enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
When a reactor discovers Home Free we Fries always say that they need to wait a while and get familiar with the guys before watching MayDay because there are these change-ups.
Oh, yeah…..Tim’s range is sooooo Amazing 🙃🎵🎶🎵‼️🔥….. it’s a cover , Cam sang it originally. Thanx !!! Oh, new one released Today…..Austin wrote it…”PLAYING WITH FIRE”….. It’s AMAZINGLY HOT 🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵🔥🔥
Cam was co-writer for "Mayday." There's a good Wikipedia article about the song, called: "Mayday (Cam song)." I checked it out when Home Free came out with this cover, which I like a WHOLE lot better than Cam's version. 😀 I was waiting for the "TIM???" reaction. (grin) I checked to see if you had, by any chance, reacted to Tim and Peter Hollens singing, "Greensleeves," and you have not. After hearing this one, you really should. You will get a HUGE treat, with, actually, the beautiful range gymnastics of BOTH men. Tim, especially gets to show off. Check it out. It will probably ruin any other version of it, in your ears. 😀 You are not alone with getting blown away by the changes in roles for this song. We ALL did that upon first hearing the song! This is why we Home Fries warn people NOT to react to this one until they get pretty familiar with the group as a whole. (grin) As for the vocal ranges of the group, I made a chart, in 2019, which shows where each of them stands. You can find it by going to my channel and then the ABOUT page, and scrolling down to the links. There are three of them. The third one is "Home Free Range Chart (2019)." Enjoy! \0/
Perfect reaction. You are going to make so many fries happy. Cover of a song by CAM. I usually listen to “Mayday” with “In the Blood”, for a misery overload.
This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
Give a listen to Chance with the Hound and Fox, doing "Wayfaring Stranger". And check out Tim's doo-wop stuff. There is no end to these guys' talent. And hats off to the Ruppster for some stellar beatboxing.
Wayfaring Stranger is billed as Adam Chance feat. The Hound + The Fox, while The Sound of Silence is The Hound + The Fox feat. Adam Chance. Recorded same place, same time and it's impossible to tell which came first. So I play them three or four...or five times through. And Tim's doo wop videos are Come Go With Me, Since I Don't Have You, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay, and In My Room. They're from his album Pieces of Me vol.1. The whole album is terrific. Except for In My Room. It's not on Tim I never cared for that song. Until VoicePlay's did a video for it. Love that one.
Yeah, I love when reactors get to this one, it is so fun to watch the look 👀 on their faces during this especially when Tim and Chance switch places essentially. This is definitely one of my favorites! Rob, of course, always with his great voice for his solo parts!! And Adam’s great beatboxing holding things together!! Of course I always love Austin’s part in everything whether he has a solo part or a fill in part in the background adding beautiful harmonies!!❤❤ Glad you enjoyed it!❤👏👏
Great reaction. I really appreciate you not interrupting through the performance. Too many UA-cam reactors think that they are more important than the artists.
So glad you didn’t do this one too early without knowing their voices. Yes, Tim was just showing you some of his 5 octave range and Chance going low. It’s the old switcheroo. Chance can do bass but not as low as Tim. It’s a cover song (country star Cam did it). Love this one. You got their names right! Good one Josh!😍
A covers an original by singer Cam, Home Free sang this in the same key as the female original! We tend to forget, thanks to his incredible range, that Chance was the bassist in his prior group, Street Corner Symphony! Not quite as low as Tim, his bass line is more than enough to carry Adam Rupp's beat along those basement phrases! And we've all learned that Tim can sing tenor along with the rest of those HF tenors. Love your reaction!
They do like to mess with our heads. It's just as well that this kept being put further back as the 'surprise' is not so surprising if you are not familiar with the guys. Its an great song, sung amazingly well. Love it. Great reaction mate
I stared at the screen watching for your expression when Chance came in and your impressed/perplexed look was worth the wait! Please start checking out some of Austin, Tim and Chance's solo works. Austin's cover of Etta James' At Last is amazing.
Some of my favorite are: -Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On -Woman, Amen /Female -Summer in the Country -End of the Road -Hillybilly Bone -Good Ol' Country Harmony -Dive Bar Saints -Champagne Taste
:) Yeah, it hits!!! And throws ya for a loop! .... Chance on bass, happens more than realized... and Tim going high (hmmm, happens more than realized) --- then again ... ummm Chance has the same tendency!!!! Go figure. Snow Glob anyone!?! :) Be SAfe
Humphrey likes to play with her fans! This is their way of saying don’t try to pigeonhole me… I do surprises all the time! If you listen to snow globe from a couple Christmases ago it’s an original and him sings very high in that song also! They are so versatile they can cover each other’s parts if need be! This is a cover of Cam a female country singer! Nice reaction!
The original was sung by a woman, Cam, so HF sang their version in the same key. ‘We can, so why not?’ Now you know why people are advised to learn each singer’s (usual) roll before listening to this song. Shock factor!
Buckle UP. You never know what you're going to get with Home Free!!! Watch the interview about how they all met. I am sure you know so much more about them now since you have become a Home Fry. Adam and his brother started the group. He is the bald member and is no longer with them ( He left, I believe because he got married). Chance replaced him, who was the base for another group. Adam is a world Champ at what he does. Rob came second; wait until you see what he can do with his voice. You will be shocked like Tim singing so high. Next was Tim; they met Austin on a cruise ship where they all were performing, and they snatched him up. Last is Chance; he was the base for another group. They won one of the television shows. I think it was the sing-off, which is pretty funny When you listen to End of the Road. One of the judges and a member of Bouz II Men. And they performed his own song on the show. Most of the ladies in the Videos are their wives or girlfriends. If you look closely at the Butts, Melody. When they show the Ham samich. Look at Tim, he is eating it. I am sure I am not the only one that has filled you in. OH, if you have not listened to Don't Laugh at Me and Delta Dawn, you are missing out. I apologize for the essay, but your reaction makes me really happy. You can tell it is genuine because you smile with your eyes as well. Sometimes, I wait until they get that smile or an eyebrow raised. I really enjoy all your reactions to home free as well as others.

He uses all of it beautifully.

Yes, a song with surprises. Tim who goes tenor, Austin and Rob who also hit different notes than usual, the inhuman vocal percussion and as a great end to the surprises the incredible bass of Chance. Simply fabulous
When they push themselves, the results are spectacular. This is one of my favorites.
They just dropped a new one today!! " Playing with Fire " IT'S FIRE 🔥 😳 lol .. Austin wrote it
Yes it it's fire I loved it 🔥
@@patrickhumphreys5851 😁😁

Oh, yeah. From the Vault episode 19. They are so funny being over dramatic. And it's always a joy ate see Sami at work.
@@nightthornkvala94132Is that one of those where Rob deliberately is off key?
@@itzel1735 Naw. He just sings "All by myself" all emotionally while staring out the window. And Austin wants to see his score.
@@nightthornkvala94132 I always get a chuckle out of Rob's "interlude."
The original singer, Cam, has a beautiful voice, but to my ears, Home Free takes it. I believe they sing it in her key.
This is a great one. That Home Free smile showed up pretty early.
Great Reaction, Home Free is Awesome ❤
Adam is incredible in this
This is not a song recommended to new followers of Home Free but one that is only suggested after the person is familiar enough to see the surprise.
Yay! Home Free!!❤

It's a cover, but they sang it in same key as Cam.
Austin does the same in their cover of Patsy Cline's "Crazy".
and his solo of "At Last"
Tim has a 5 octave range, so he can sing pretty much anything.
Love to watch reactions to this song!! It’s one of my favorites ❤
They actually sang it in the songs original key, which was written for a female. Cam is the original artist for this song.
Yes, it's a cover of a song by Cam a female country singer. They sang it in the same key she sang it.
Chance did the bass in this and Tim was in one of the 3 front tenors for the song. Pretty cool.

This is the one that surprises so many because Tim and Chance switch up. Amazing harmonies.❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Agree that it was a great cover!
TIM'S Range is staggering ! The harmony and diverse skills these singers possess are really over the top. Kudos, jj
I always say that HF is a group of 5 male singers....5 tenors, 5 baritones, 3 basses and a killer beatboxer....adds up right?
Check out "9 to 5 beat box break down. " See who can pitch in with Adam Rupp.
