Yes, a song with surprises. Tim who goes tenor, Austin and Rob who also hit different notes than usual, the inhuman vocal percussion and as a great end to the surprises the incredible bass of Chance. Simply fabulous
This is one of their best covers. Don’t worry we’ve all seen it a hundred times and haven’t gotten bored yet !! It’s just a freaking exceptional cover. These guys are just so dang good and definitely at the top of their game. They can’t be touched.
I think they recommended you wait so that you could truly appreciate Tim singing that high. And also so you could appreciate Chance going so low. It really just brings to the forefront the fact that they don't have static roles in the group; there is no "lead singer" and they all can step into a lot of different parts. They all can beatbox, they all can cover other vocal roles. And somehow they manage to share the spotlight, remain friends, have fun together, and really put ego away and do what's best and most interesting for the song.
Chance took the lead on 'Cover Me Up' and it's wonderful. Also, 'Skull and Bones' recently dropped. Chance wrote it for the coming (sometime) Ubisoft game of the same name. The live version is shorter but more impressive, in my opinion.
This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
@@555Vibes Chance takes the lead or is showcased in a lot of songs such as "Some Girls Do", "Cover Me Up", "Yours", "I Can't Outrun You", "Born In The USA", "Workin' For A Livin'", "Brothers In Arms" etc.
Highly recommend "I Can't Outrun You" to not only hear Chance's gorgeous bari-bass vocals, but some of the best harmonies you'll come across!! Chance also directed the video, which has one of the most ingenious filming ideas I've ever seen! ❤🤯
Everything they touch turns to magic. They can do any genre and crush it. Oh, how I love these guys and their fabulous music. Makes me happy every time I see them perform. I love your enthusiasm for their talent. Great reaction. Some of my personal favorites are Blue Ain't Your Color, The Driver, Brother, Moonshine, Folsom Prison Blues, Unchained Melody, and they just came out with Skull And Bones which is jaw dropping.
Chance and Adam both have really good parts in "Working For A Living" the Huey Lewis cover. Chance sings lead and Adam has a really long nominica solo!! 😎😎😎😎
It’s the old switcheroo. Tim goes high and Chance goes low. I think Chance does get love. He has quite a few videos to his name now. Try Helplessly Hoping, I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Some Girls Do, Cover Me Up and the newest Skull & Bones. Plus he has great songs on his own Channel, Adam Chance and collaborations with Hound + Fox. Try Wayfaring Stranger. It’s great and he goes low! Love his voice. Good reaction Vibes!😄
The original song was co-written and sung by a female artist named Cam. What's so amazing about this cover by Home Free is that they sang the song in its original octave for a female artist. That's why Tim's, Rob's and Austin's voices are so high in this song. They are all very talented, and Adam's beatboxing is amazing as well, and Chance's deep bass voice is an added surprise. The lyrics of the song are very clever as well, and to me are kind of comical being sung by men, considering that Cam wrote this about a bad relationship she had experienced. But Home Free's excellent vocal performance makes it more believable. The lines by Rob at the end are quite unique: "You are overbearing. I'm not in love, and I don't want to tell you." It's a very cleverly written song.
Men, too, can find themselves in bad relationships that they struggle to leave. Love and heartbreak aren't gendered experiences. To me, this is something Home Free excels at -- unflinchingly singing songs about love and loss and vulnerability that we as a culture have somehow consigned to being "women's topics".
@@lrfcowper I don't disagree with that, and that's not the point I was making. I was speaking to the unique lyrics of this particular song. Home Free did a fabulous job. It's one of my favorites from them.
This is one of their covers that sounds so good it makes you forget that it is a cappella! Love this one! Please check out Hillbilly Bone another good one that makes you forget it’s a Capella because it sounds so good!
They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their profundo BASS handle it! 🤣 LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Chance covered all the bass line for the whole song while Tim stayed up in the tenor range. Chance was the bass in his previous group, Street Corner Symphony. He said in an interview once that when HF asked him to join, one of his stipulations was that he still got to do bass on a regular basis. While Chance's range isn't as large as Tim's, it's still over 4 octaves, which gives them a lot of flexibility for who leads, who does bass, etc.
Thank you!!! This is one of my favs! You are making this Grammy and my 13 yr old granddaughter happy as a bird with a french fry! Have a good night Young man. PS...Maybe you can do Home Free's "Blue Ain't Your Color" soon, another fav...they have some smooth moves in that one. ~ Beth Ann
Great reaction ❤to a masterpiece! Yes, everyone went crazy and we get to see the results. Hope you keep doing Home Free for a long time and I'll keep following 🙂
I really love when the reactors get to this one after first getting to know them a little bit first! Seeing them mix it up a bit is so fun, they are so talented and it is fun seeing the look on peoples faces! This is one of my most favorites!! They have soooooo much talent!🔥🔥🔥 Keep them coming!👏👏👏👏
Chance was actually the bass in his old group Street Corner Symphony. Street Corner Symphony was also on The Sing Off in season 2 and got 2nd place. Tim actually has a five octave range. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
I agree with others...Skull and Bones is awesome...Chance did a great job writing that and he and Tim sing super low in it. Great review of Mayday...it's one of my favorites. Also, Brothers in Arms (Dire Straits track) is great...not sure if you have done that one yet?😊
Perhaps watching Cam's original might enlighten. HF sings it in same key. Chance has some great leads or sections of other songs. His latest lead is Skull and Bones. Be ready to have your socks knocked off. So much for you to enjoy yet. Buckle up 555.
When they came out with this one, I had been watching and listening to them for quite some time. One thing I like to do (not always, but especially when it's Home Free), is listen to the original. In this case, I had never heard Cam, and had no idea what to expect. I wasn't hugely impressed, and I wasn't sure I was going to like the Home Free version, either. I should have known better by then (grin). Nobody warned those of us hitting this video when it was released, what was going to happen, so even we who were (still are) veterans, were hit smack-dab between the eyes. WOW!!! Some who had only heard the AUDIO, started arguing with those who had seen the VIDEO, and it was quite funny. It took a while before everyone realized it truly WAS Tim doing the high-range beginning. Then people started arguing that Tim had voiced-over Chance singing the low-range bass. We weren't that used to Chance yet, at the time. Once that was all settled with us "old-timers," is when reactors started being warned not to listen to this one until they knew more about what USUALLY happens within the group, with each of the guys' ranges. FUN! 😀 Great job picking out Chance's lower notes before he even hit THE low one! Proud of you! \0/ Thanks for a fun reaction. EDIT...I think you would also love listening/reacting to Peter Hollens and Tim singing "Greensleeves." It really showcases BOTH of their strengths and huge ranges, but especially Tim's...it's AMAZING! In the same shoot (which was shortly before Peter had hip surgery) they also did "Bridge Over Troubled Waters." AWESOME!
Love your reaction, thanks so much! Your reaction was pretty much the same as mine when I first saw this! It's exceptional, isn't it? I just wanted to add how beautiful Rob and Tim sound together in that final chorus - their voices blend so well!
One of your best HF reactions and you astutely picked up on all the things someone not familiar with the guys would have missed. Never get tired of listening to this. HF keeps fans on their toes, always showing their versatility, but some of their songs really showcase their amazing talent. The behind-the-scenes video of the making of this, in HF's Vault playlist, is fun. For videos featuring more of Chance, just a couple of many 'I Can't Outrun You,' (love!) and 'Castle on the Hill.'
Adam Chance has collaborations with The Hound & The Fox as well as some lovely solo works, each of the guys have songs and collabs, it's a deep rabbit hole.
