  • We are visiting Iwami Ginzan, one of the most beautiful towns in Japan. Located in Shimane prefecture in the San-in region, it includes historic silver mines, shrines and temples, and the well-preserved town of Oda. On this video, we check out one of the silver mines, visit a cafe in town and stay overnight at a renovated 230 year old samurai house, where we feast on Japanese food.

What a beautiful place! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind just briefly showing a map of Japan at the beginning of these types of videos and highlighting or putting an arrow to show us the location. I always like to know where these places are, but I sometimes have no idea what part of Japan it is and have to pause the video and search on a map of Japan to find it. It would be so helpful. If not, that's okay. Thank you for showing us all these amazing little towns. First time I've ever seen a silver mine. That little bat made me smile! 😄

When I visited Japan, I was so astounded at how much, and how well things have been preserved. I touched an 800 year old bell and realized how amazing it all is.
Love your videos and much continued success! ✨

8:55 sooooo cute!!! I ❤️ 🦇 🦇 I’ve actually seen them in the wild quite often as I grew up in a farming community and they are quite common here in northeastern Pennsylvania. We have a lot of natural caves & caverns in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. This is definitely a town I would love to see on my trip to Japan. Thank you for sharing with us your adventures and the foods. Until we can travel more freely, I can live vicariously through you! ✌🏻🥰😊
*PS EDIT I absolutely loved the background music that you selected. Honestly, it made the video even more beautiful*

What a magical town! I love the traditional and historical Japanese buildings like these. And that house with no electricity appears to be the perfect place to relax and meditate.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places you have shown us and the food looks so incredible! The serenity of the candlelit house just reached out and touched me, I’m really looking forward to visiting. Thank you so much Shinichi and Satoshi for introducing us to such wonders

Sorry, I finished watching it before my appointment, so I couldn't comment. I love how they kept the buildings the same. They even made the vending machine match. Another wonderful place to stay. I am slowing down, so I would have to stay over.

oh this is incredible! Especially the guest house y'all stayed at, and the house without electricity--so many plot points in pre-electric literature (particularly, say, Tale of Genji) make so much more sense when you see what candles and lamps do and don't show.
The mine was terrifying, i'm claustrophobic XD but the bat was so cute! Thank you for your care in not disturbing it.

This is such a magical place. There's just no other way to describe it. From the mountains, to the buildings, and then the fine details like the vending machine and cups plus plates and bowls. Stepping back in time, yet again other place I need to visit. The list is so long now just for Japan, I'm going to have to start a book.

This video had an aura of healing. The sights, the nature, the buildings, the food, the house with no electricity (like you said, feeling like it was a meditation experience). It was truly beautiful. I had such a stressful day (in a good way), and it left me so exhausted mentally and physically. I sat down with a nutritious dinner and watched your video, and by the end, I didn't feel stressed anymore. I felt very calm and centered. You two are always so wonderful with your commentaries too. Thank you for a special video! :D

This looks like a very interesting place and your video was really well done. You said on the livestream you work hard on it and it shows. Especially the opening montage. Bats are lucky animals, right? Cool you saw one there in the mine. Are they still mining silver in the area. Hard work. Did you visit the school? The food looks delicious. I would enjoy the strawberry the most. Beautiful area to visit and it was during ume season which I think I like even more than sakura.

It is nice to know you can hire tour guides that speak english. The food looked good. Thank you again for all your hard work in filming and editing, and bringing it to your viewers. Just wanted to reconfirm the name of this location because I found 2 other places in the same town. Is it KURASUYADO TAKYO-ABEKE? Also, we’re interested in hiring the same individuals that took you on a tour of this area. Would you mine sharing their contact with me? Thank you again! There’s so many places we want to visit in Japan just from watching your videos blogs! Keep them coming! Mahalo!
