Her music lifted her as well. Sarah made me love figure skating FOR LIFE.
I agree, she had a calm and relaxed spirit that showed in this performance and at the Olympics. It makes her look smooth and relaxing and entertaining to watch.
Sarah has more beautiful artistry and better flow in this performance than she did at the Olympics!

Q’s weren’t even a thing until like 2019
@@jorgebonilla2234I know. If this was post 2019 this is how I would have marked it. I do agree that q didn’t exist until 2019
Great skate. Scores too low.
Lovely qualities but she would have never even placed in the top 10 today with all those under rotations. But overall, really amazing effort
I love this version of this program. Perfectly choreographed and beautifully executed.
This was the winning skate for me! Too bad the judges didn't see her in the same class as the others. Good thing she won the big one later that season!!
Great spring into her jumps. Beautiful landings, skate freely and lightly. This was a looking glass into her amazing future Olympic performance. She did not hold back.
Love the music.
Gorgeous. Love watching her skate 🥰
Gorgeous layback.
Irina and Kwan should have been worried if they were watching at this performance!
How did she place third here?! She should have won this entire event! She outperformed Kwan technically and blew Slutskaya out of the water in terms of artistry and presentation.
There were 3 programs, not just 1. Even had she won this final phase she would not have won overall, and in fact if Kwan had been 2nd to her in this phase and Irina 3rd (probably how it should have been) she still would have finished only 3rd overall behind Slutskaya and Kwan. Which is correct since her short program was bad and lucky to be 4th, and her first long program had only 4 triples and alot of mistakes.
She bombed the short program and had a subpar first long program. Even winning this final program would not have won the event, or probably moved up from 3rd.
There is something about Sarah's jumps that look underrotated. Not sure why - they don't look like they have the power or height of Slutskaya for example. Even Maria Butyrskaya looks stronger.
Inferior to Michelle "Flops Like a Fish" Kwan and Irina "Truck Driver" Slutskaya, eh? Good thing the judges woke up two months later and recognized true figure skating and true champions, like Sarah.
Kwan and Slutskaya at their best were always better than this. They weren't at the Olympics which is why Sarah the flutz cheater won by default. I always felt that most American girl skaters had an allergy to a proper Lutz. SO few of them could perform it well.

Pretty true for that time, except for:

Ann Patrice McDonough
