I apologize to all. It seems many comments allude to the fact I don't know what I'm talking about. It's true when it comes to hearing aids. I focused my comparison to hearables because it's the only hearing device I've ever used. I can't compare to something I've never used, nor will I make comparisons based on company specs or what others have said.
It may sound like I'm not calling the Bose hearing aids. They are hearing "aids" as are my IQBuds. But when I was looking at other hearing aids I came up with the following:
Eargo (>$2k) - "mild to severe hearing losses" - audiologist to adjust.
Signia (>$2k) - " Styletto enriches life by tuning out all distractions - including tinnitus. It offers three different strategies against tinnitus. Static noise and ocean wave tinnitus therapy cover up the disturbing tinnitus sounds with individually tuned therapy signals. The third in-built option, Notch Therapy, treats tonal tinnitus inaudibly and unobtrusively for a truly peaceful experience" - direct mention of medical issue assistance, audiologist to adjust.
Now there are other expensing aids like Lively who say their product is for mild to moderate hearing loss, the same type of loss Bose and IQBuds are marketed to. Lively are >$2k, and they are custom programmed by an audiologist. The IQBuds only have a built in hearing test akin to an audiologist for adjustments, and the Bose has no tests.
My lack of hearing aid knowledge confuses my review points I guess. I guess when I say not like a hearing aid, to me that meant no audiologist involvement. Then I placed the Bose more in the hearable category only because there is no audiologist involvement. I tried to be clear about my "thoughts" about Bose, no professional opinions here. And I was specific I could only compare them to one other product. If I had never used any sort of aid before, my review would have sounded more positive to some. But I went in looking at the price, and then later on realizing that other more expensive aids have music and telephone capabilities.
I have used the Bose quite a bit since my initial review. I have been able to adjust how I perceive them with the clarity and it no longer throws me off. For straight up hearing, they are better than the IQBuds. Sounds are a little clearer because they don't have that tinge of amplification I hear with the IQBuds. Again, I am sorry for being misleading as that was never my intention.

The review was interesting and gave good insight. Although Bose markets the SoundControl as a hearing aid, it was entirely valid to be comparing it to your hearable. Non of the comments appeared to question that. If you reinstate the review without the last sentence, it would seem unlikely to attract criticizm.

Here is my review of the product: #BoseSoundControlInsiders
I received the hearing aids at a discount for my honest review. I’ve had problems hearing in crowded situations for a long-time, making conversation difficult. I’ve used hearables which have been very helpful. My review is based on comparison to my personal experience with hearables.
The MSRP of $849.99 for these direct-to-consumer pre-tuned FDA approved hearing aids is well below that of professional aids while above hearables. It is an affordable jump into hearing aids. But is it worth it?
The aids come with a nice carry case and 3 ear tip sizes of both open and closed. There are 3 wire lengths available for fit. The one provided fit so no need to request a free replacement in a different size. There is no on/off switch. Leaving the battery compartment open one click is the off position and how you store when not in use. Compared to hearables when on, they are discreet. The battery sits nicely tucked behind the ear, and the wire is firm and thin. When I wore them for 8+ hours, I got a slight itchy feeling in the ears. It will take some time to get used to it. Every so often I pulled the tips out for relief.
I was surprised there was no built-in hearing test like in hearables. Maybe it’s a placebo, but with hearables you spend 15 minutes taking a hearing test to adjust each bud individually. The Bose are out of the box ready. You can set both to 360-degree focus or front focus for conversation. You can turn the world on and off with both, set balance, independently adjust volume to each ear, and adjust treble/bass. The app has 4 preset modes with 10 available custom slots for different situations. The biggest difference is hearables allow you to listen to music and take calls. Bose is hearing only, and that is not a bad thing.
The most important review point is head-to-head hearing comparison with hearables. Both devices are sound amplifiers, but I found the Bose to have a more natural sound. It threw me since I am so used to a more amplified feel from the hearables. In my initial tests I really could not decide which helped me hear better. I felt at times I could have used a little more top end volume for more clarity with the Bose.
The Bose are on par with my hearable experience. That’s a bit disappointing since I was hoping for a more noticeable difference. The more natural sound is a plus, as is the discreet fitting. These work for what they are intended to do, to help those in between perfect hearing and hearing aid ready hearing loss.

@@alissataylor6029 Well I don't think the two are comparable. Bose under $1k, Resound 2x to 4x more expensive and are true hearing aids.

@@alissataylor6029 In your case with these 2 choice it's price. I have never had true hearing aids, but one would think with an audiologist being involved they'll probably be better. But these Bose aren't meant for big time hearing loss like a hearing aid. I believe they are geared for people like myself who are having hearing difficulties but not to the point where I can barely hear. Just my .02 as I am no expert. It's why my review was focused on comparing to hearables.

@@mmcpa Honestly, I think you would notice the difference with a real hearing aid, because I have been trying cheaper hearing aids and it is not as good as Resound
