In Indonesia we don't even have ground for anything. My computer case and the mic plugged into it shock me everytime I touch them. I even burned my skin once from accidentally touching the mains while unplugging my fridge
You really should've mentioned the FFT (fast Fourier transform) mode. That turns the o-scope into a spectrum analyzer, which is beyond the budget of most electronics enthusiasts.

The first time I got to play with our shop o-scope was in 1991 I took it home and hooked it up to the output of several Music Synthesizers I owned. what is a Synthesizer? You know; Kraftwerk, Depech Mode, Men without hats... Now that was FUN!

So at this frequency, the scope would show 71% of the actual voltage, which I wouldn't call an accurate measurement. i came across this after looking up repair guides for the oscilloscope i found in the trash ( an Alegent 54622a). i know that it would be better to buy a new oscilloscope, but the charm of this digital scope with a crt display is undeniable.

100v outlets in Japan have a separate ground connector which is secured using a screw. 200v outlets (used by high power appliances like aircon,oven)have a fixed 3rd ground pin just like these you have in north America. The outlet in video is a specific outlet made by Panasonic which is used for connecting chargers in public utilities, so this make sense why there's no ground.

In Japan, only appliances such as washing machines need to be grounded, and it is not a three wire plug, but a two-wire plug plus a separate ground wire, which is exposed outside the plug and connected independently to a hole under the socket.
It's a tool to analyze periodic signals in the time domain. It's the oscilloscope's display and event triggered sweep feature that makes this possible .
In Japan, they have ground. Most sockets do not have ground, but those who are made for specific equipment has a ground below the socket. For example, a microwave has two cables that you plug in; 1 for the ac power line, 1 for the ground. They usually split towards the end of the cable, with only a few cm max distance between the two. @ElectroBOOM

The DSOX1204 is an excellent oscilloscope. I especially appreciate its XY mode support, which is similar to legacy analog CRT scopes.

When I was attending EE school, we called it a "full wave bridge rectifier", not a "full bridge rectifier".
Steve White you can drop “bridge” and just call it full wave rectifier.
