Single fact that he was still alive and she didn't even try to save him is enough for me to say with a 1000% certainty - IT WAS PREMEDITATED

It definitely was! Why would she say she's giving him a ride but pass by the cousins house, then how do you as an adult argue with an 8 year old ? If he was so angry and disgusted with her holding an ace, I highly doubt he would've accepted the ride to begin with in the first place. She is a terrible excuse for a human

If the attack wasn’t premeditated the murder sure as hell was. She had every chance to let him live.

@@Rikkiroo1008the fact that she brought him to an abandoned house in the first place made it premeditated for me. Plus, if he said these things, the first thing I would’ve done is bring him before his father, and made him repeat those statements and ask that the father decide on a proper punishment for him. NOTHING JUSTIFIES THE MURDER OF A CHILD!!

I like that Spain actually holds criminals accountable for the psychological torment of Gabriel’s parents as well as the cost for searching. The US Justice system needs to learn from this.

Same here in Australia. We have such lenient sentencing for SA and stalking as well as domestic abuse and violence. I feel our justice system does not take ANY of the psychological damage into account when sentencing.

getting rid of someone’s child they had before your marriage won’t make them love you more. say you get away with it, what now? they’re a shell of the person they were before they lost their child. whos to say you even recognise them anymore? and then the guilt on that.
if you dont want step kids don’t get together with someone who has kids. easy.

I was talking to a guy who eventually dropped the news that he had a daughter, and you know what i did? Gently split up from him because I’m a normal adult with communication skills, and i know i don’t want to be a stepmom and i know how to communicate that. Unlike SOME people!
The kid didn’t do anything in the situation so i will never understand people who hurt kids like that woman hurt Gabriel.

I have a hard time believing that she "accidentally" incapacitated him by covering his mouth. Anyone who grew up with siblings (or just has common sense) knows that if you just put your hand over an 8-year-old's mouth, they'll bite you or kick you away.

    • @misstoujoursplus

Even if Gabriel was a “raging racist” 8-year-old (which is HIGHLY unlikely), as an adult you aren’t meant to “shut them up” or murder them, but educate them and find reason for why they are acting this way. Maybe they’re getting influenced by some other adults outside of the house, in which case, you have to help the kid and protect the kid from such vile behavior. What a shit excuse Ana Julia mustered up. She really is an idiot. Rest in peace Gabriel 🕊️❤️

Between that and her being SO scared of the racist child with the axe that she just HAD to get right up on him to stop him.... yeah no she took him there with the sole purpose of getting him out of the way. She took the opportunity to pick him up when no one would know he was with her then got rid of him. The least she could've done was admit that once caught instead of compounding everything by getting to smear his good name. Disgusting.

Also, her race has NOTHING to do with what she did. Look at Gannon Stauch’s murderer, she was his white stepmother. Race has nothing to do with this murder. 36:06 also something interesting is that the reason that Ana Julia decided to move Gabriel that day is because police where already onto her, so they “leaked” to the press that they where about to make an arrest or that they knew who had Gabriel I don’t really remember, to see if she would make a move. And she did. I remember being at school the day that they arrested her, everyone was talking about it. It also opened up a LOT of conversations about racism, as people where saying really racist things, and the point of “she’s an awful person” got lost as people started talking about skin color rather than the fact that she killed an 8 year old boy. I think that’s part of the reason they wanted to buy her documentary, everyone was talking about her. And even to this day “el pescaito Gabriel” is something that people comment on a lot.

omg I'm from Spain and I remember when I first saw this case on the news before they found him and who did it
I was eating lunch at my friend's house with her and her parents and we were watching the news when they started talking about this kid who was missing, the searches they were doing and then the parents came on screen, after it was over we were talking about how sad the situation was and wishing they could find him soon when my friend's dad said "That boy is definitely dead"
We were all shocked and saying things like "Hey don't say that" and "Have a little faith" but he kept going and said "Just look at the stepmom, she looks so guilty. There's no way she didn't kill him", we just looked at him and changed the subject
Then some time later the news that the stepmom "found" the boy's shirt came out and it was REALLY suspicious, and a couple days after that she confessed and all I could think about was how????? How did he know??? (And obviously why would someone do that to the child they should be caring for)
But I really couldn't wrap my head around the fact that my friend's dad knew all along, all I was thinking about while watching the news for the first time was that everyone reacts differently to this type of situations and how stressful it must be for everyone in the family (stepmom included) so I didn't suspect a thing
Honestly the whole situation was really sad and this case broke everyone's hearts here in Spain, every single one of us were so involved in the case watching it unfold day by day that we couldn't believe this horrible ending

I'm from Spain, and I remember how large the impact was. I wasn't entirely aware of all the details (I was 13 when it happened) but I won't forget how shaken people were. Loved the way you spoke about this case, as always. I've followed you for some years and you always speak about everything with the upmost respect.
Just one little nitpick, El día de Andalucía isn't a national holiday. It, along with other festivities, are specific to different autonomous communities. So in, for example, Catalunya they don't celebrate it. They have their own autonomous community day.
And, I'm so sorry if my english is bad.

The difference between what you do and what Netflix did with Monster, is that you are educating. You tell facts. You focus on the victims and highlight their pain and the injustice they suffered. You give the suspect their fair chance and you tell us about their lives and many do have tragic childhoods. You don't ignore that. They have their "moment", But in the end you bring it back to the victim. You can't compare most True Crime to dramatized movies like Monster.

Reminder that while staying vigilant about strangers is certainly important, it’s very rare to be a victim of a violent crime by a stranger. Intimate partners, family members, all very much more likely. There’s only so much we can do to keep ourselves safe, and so much of it is just plain luck. I know that’s scary, it’s absolutely terrifying that we have so little control over such a thing. But please be well 💕

the murder of diana quer went unsolved for a year and the media was heavily criticised for revealing the victim’s personal information.
and the disappearance of marta del castillo is a mystery. she disappeared in january 2009 and she still hasn’t been found. her ex boyfriend confessed to her murder but he has given seven different versions of what happened.

the killer gets the chance to say their “side of the story” in court. this one pled guilty and that’s the end of her side of the story, there’s nothing else that needs to be known. it’s not like she claimed her innocence the entire time and says she was wrongly convicted, then there would be a TINY sliver of reason to hear her “side” but that’s not what happened. most of the time in courts all over the world, a fine as a punishment is mostly symbolic as that person typically doesn’t have the money for it and theoretically will never have the money if they get sent to prison for life. the fines shouldn’t be seen as a reason to give this disgusting excuse of a person a platform.
