i just put 3000 miles on this bike in 11 days. It performed beyond my expectations. Rode on rock trails in moab, through silt hills, to the beach sand and into the forest. Anyone who thinks this bike isnt the one for all is rather stubborn in that its more along the lines of "its the one for some" ... like any other bike out there. I felt the brakes did everything i needed with 120 pounds of gearon and offroad.. took the bike up to 100 mph no problem... fuel economy for me was 55 mpg at 80 mph. keep the bike at 65 mph and you will get 60 plus mpg. the fuel tank was 4.2 gal and always looked for fuel at 200 miles.. i can go 250 max. the bike is very nimble for an adventure bike and the power is right where you want it offroad. a 19/17 wheel combo well handle better in the turns but the 21-18 does almost as well. Could careless about traction control This bike will perform well in everything but nasty single track with mud off camber situations. I dont ride places that are insanely treacherous for big bikes. I have other dual sports and this bike will be replacing a modded DR650 and a modded vstrom 650 Heres my list of tweeks needed to be awesome I did 500 mile days with the seat... it breaks in over time.... but still would rather have a new seat get bark busters buy a puig windshield attachment and puig headlight protector. buy a cheap throttle lock buy engine guards and HD skid + center stand New knobbie tires and get some stiffer springs youll be happy. trust me i rate the bike a 8.5 out of 10. I've owned a KTM 1190 Adv R. It was a great adventure bike and I took it everywhere it could go. Single track, fire trails etc. Don't get me wrong, the electronics were great. But honestly I think it's just so much marketing. Especially on a bike that doesn't have a huge amount of power (mid size adventurer) you just do not need all the electronics. We ride for fun. I don't need shit that's going to add cost, complexity and potentially reliability issues just to enjoy myself. It's an adventure bike. I am somone who would appreciate a premium model. Say if Yamaha brought out an SP model with improved suspension. But you can keep the traction control for bikes with over 100hp. Cheers Nice review btw.
Love this Bike, bought it, rode two days later for 6 hours to Paris in September, been commuting with it every day to work. Handles as nicely in chaotic Parisian traffic as it does on weekend explorations a long the coast of Normandy. I‘m 6‘2 (25 years old) and ride with a MX helmet, the wind drag is alright, I can understand that the older chaps are bitching about it ;) I feel the steering is quite „sensitive“? @@zookajoey6799 2016 was the last year for them on the european market.
I have a xt660r a verry nice bike but pretty heavy for offroad.
Lukas Zimmermann are used models hard to find? you could just buy used. I bought a 09 model with a couple hundred miles on it. It has 10k miles now and still running strong. Bullet proof basically
@@zookajoey6799 Good WRs are verry expensiv and rare.
Simply buy a WR250/450F, add lights and you have an awesome, modern, dual sport bike.
What's up with that dirtbike front fender... The euro model dosent have that?
This is an aftermarket Tusk High Fender kit that we installed on this bike. We have a video showing the fender and install if you want to check that out here: ua-cam.com/video/vQdKtbsD6F4/v-deo.html
Wish they would have had someone else do this video I just can’t follow him nice bike though
Sold my 790s to get this…No regrets
What happened to traction control of the right hand what happened to relying on yourself
Pretty good price for a Yamaha considering 450 dual sports are in that price category.
It’s more of an enduro
*the 450rl
@@garetc7706 The 450's are all more of enduro, but they categorize them as Dual Sport because they are tuned farther toward street use than the actual enduro bikes. Actual enduro bikes don't get plates without spending money on red tape paperwork and adding lights.
Front fender is different. What's up with it?
It's the Tusk high fender kit to eliminate rocks and mud from jamming in the stock fender.
@@rmatvmc Awesome. Thanks.
All of my bike's have traction control.....it's called me!!!
You live in US. Switch the speedo over to mph please.
yeah , the classic , change the suspension spring for your weight and riding style , classic yamaha , the only fail , most riders , at least in us and eu , are probably 90 kg at least!
Is that stock?
This bike is stock with the exception of the Tusk high fender, skid plate, chain guide and luggage.
how come people feel compelled to say "$9,999"? how come we just don't say $10k?
9,999 +++ in dealer speak
The traction control is your throttle, why in the world would anyone want a computer to take control away from you? I never understood this.
Cameron Morgan Try it one day and you will be sold on the benefits
Is that speedo in km"s or mph?
Switchable between the two.
I own a lot of KTM's 2ea 300's, 520 mxc, 450XCW. Thought about getting the 790 adv. R but found out they are going to be made in China. That's a deal breaker for me. I hate the CCP. Taiwan is to be defended from China. This Yamaha will be the bike I get. At 200lbs I will be getting stiffer springs like I do for all my bikes.
Are those Brembo brakes? I think not
Yep Brembo front and rear
ThEeEere is hAaAardly any vibratiOoOoOon.
Ten or Ray 700 🙊 tanary 😂 it must be the elevation 😜
Ttacktion control is your left hand
You're not wrong!
looks better with the original low mudguard
I have to agree. I think the lower fender looks better. I am sure the higher mud guard would help in mud, but I can't remember the last time I saw enough mud to justify it here in Utah.
Better high speed stability too. High fenders are for dirt bikes
te-ne-re ... te is pronounced half way between TAY and the short TE. All three syllables have that same vowel sound. 3 syllables, with all of them said the same, don't stress any of them over the other two, don't elongate any of them. (think mississippi - it's not mississipeeee)
After you dump 3k into you could have just bought the 790
Watch revzilla (every single Sunday?). They did a sorta comparison and the 790 breaks down.
Hi and thanks for the review. A couple of informational inaccuracies, it is powered by an engine, not a motor, the engine displacement is 689cc, not 698cc. Enjoy the ride. :)
Looks like jakethegardensnakes fz07 almost lol
It's not a "ten-air-ee"! It is a "ten-er-ray". If you want to get technical the proper way in American English is "ten-ear".
You answered the question. Km's
Лёгкий и простой, это идеальное решение от ямахи!
