This new model is fantastic for one reason. There is nothing new on it I want. But it's fantastic because used prices of the older model will come down. I will buy the older model :)
I got a 2024 T7 last year and love it! The reasons I wanted is it’s simplicity and ease of maintenance. Like you, I wish Yamaha would have kept the T7 as is… plain and simple. I am glad I was able to get a new one before they upgraded the bike with electronics.
I love the new small adv's, too bad everyone is aiming at A2 riders with them so with 48hp they have to have 175kg because of EU regulation, or they could make them lighter.
Great comparative Pavlin, but like you said, who needs all those electronics? It’s all marketing and nothing else. It will be practically impossible to buy a bike without those features in the future, but meanwhile let’s enjoy that fantastic CP2 engine without all those options. On the other hand it’s great to see how Yamaha listens to the complaints of their customers and are trying to get the best out of each bike. I had a KTM 790 Adventure for two years and a half and the only thing I didn’t have problems with on 42000 km was the drive by wire 😅 Great bike to ride, but reliability…and that’s where all things start if you want peace of mind while traveling. Greetings from Belgium!
Never ever have I wanted a cruise control on my bike. And I have ridden full day, long stretches on highways and autobahn in EU, and on freeways in the States. Having a hard time staying alert as it is without it. It is about staying connected with the bike and the road you are riding. Who is using it CC on minor roads, and gravel anyway? And I dont want TFT either. But on a few occasions I missed having a kickstart though! 😅
The real change they should have made is tubeless tires …better for 90 percent of people , and the hardcore guys can always carry a tube and use it if they want to
@@motorcycleadventuresI would add that the $11000 price here in the US is with out taxes, freight and other dealer fees, once the dealer add all these fees including preparation fee it will be $14500 or so…. Maybe in Europe is different but here you can easily add $2000 to $4000 for dealer fees and taxes
Shorter intake runners for more low rpm torque. Not much info in the USA. The lower seat version interests me. I once saw mention of E-85 flex fuel compatibility, that would be cool
Thanks for the good summary, and I agree Yamaha have not done enough to warrant an upgrade, especially if you have already upgraded your suspension. They should consider the changes that their customer base have been asking for and have been making to their T7s, like a bolt-on exhaust hanger or tubeless wheels. Or how about HDPE plastics instead of ABS, and headlight circuitry that doesn't self destruct when you hook up a spot light? And if they were going to have ride-by-wire, then the first addition is surely cruise control. There are many ways that Yamaha could have improved on the original, but are now seen to be followers rather than leaders.
@@motorcycleadventures I have no faith in marketing departments. Remember the T7, one of the world's most successful adventure bikes, was an idea from ex riders in Yamaha Europe who fought tooth and nail with marketing to get what they wanted. Just for a laugh, Google "Ugly Kia Tasman Ute Australia", and then come back and tell me marketing departments know what they are doing!
Hello Pavlin, the whole ride by wire issue. Can you clarify and put it into perspective? I understand, but where did you have a problem on your travels and where would a ride by wire have caused you problems? I look forward to your answer. I am 50:50.
I think if you have a T7 right now, no need to upgrade. If you are planning on buying one, you might want to consider it. I'm looking at the World Raid still, as it was not changed to the new stuff. Less electronics, less issues usually, even though I think Yamaha is super reliable. The new Rally looks super great, with better suspension. Currently I'm riding 60-70% of the time off road on my old Super Tenere, and it would be a huge upgrade for me no matter what version I would get.
Of the people that I know with the T7, most people said that they "don't need the bells and whistles of the 890", and it's cheaper as a result, so therefor is a better bike. To me that seemed like a bit of a cope. Now that the new one has more electronics and ride-by-wire, I wonder if it will still be cheap? I agree with your simple-is-better approach. Although I have an 890 Adv, I would consider the new T7 when shopping for a new bike.
It will definitely attract a lot of new owners, but there will be people like me (not many) who prefer to stay away. It is a smart move from Yamaha, even though they might compromise reliability a bit, but I am sure that their marketing department already calculated the risk.
@@motorcycleadventures I agree, it's a calculated risk, maybe they see it as an opportunity to raise the price, though the "old" ones are pretty expensive as is.
I just got a left over 24 model for a great price. I think it is the best model year. Got some reasonable tech/style upgrades but kept the cable throttle and basic abs. The TFT is nice since the old lcd looks like a jet ski from the 90's. LED turn signals are much better. But i want my engine management to be 100% my control. The abs is fine because emergency braking but indont want a bunch of sensors going bad.
I'm about to buy a tenere which year model should i focus on ? There are so many 3000km used with some extras about a grand off so they feel like very good deals + i dont really care to have it brand new
As a owner of Tenere 24 , i agree with Pavel . We shouldn't forget that we had choose T7 couse to simplicity and reliability. Let the time show the truth.
It’s not so much what the market wants. The market has been very loud about not wanting electronics in their bikes. But this is all to comply with EURO5+ regulations. Yamaha retailers won’t be able to sell new bikes without it next year. Good news for people who want the models without it. They’ll most likely be able to get this year’s model for cheaper as the retailers need to clear inventory. Thank you for the video, love to hear your grounded opinions on these kind of things. Safe travels!
I won't agree! What I, you, and a hundred people want is not what 90% of the motorcyclists want! Of all the riders that I met in the last 10 years, only a few prefer to stay away from electronics. So, Yamaha knows very well what will sell, like hot bread, and just gives it to them.
I believe you, they might very well be a loud minority. However, it still doesn’t change the fact that EURO5+ will force manufacturers to go ride-by-wire. Another example is Suzuki’s new dr-z4s.
I totally agree about this ride by wire feature. That is not a good idea on ADV bikes. The less electronics, the better. Another feature these kinds of motorcycles must have is a kickstarter, always, period. There is a big difference between being stranded on a motorway or being stranded amidst the Sahara. Try to push and start your bike in the sand or mud. Challenge! When RE promoted its Himalayan 450, i couldn't believe they added ride by wire. I was expecting an upgraded agricultural motorbike with better power performances. Not an R2D2 on two wheels. Big nono on this feature. Noraly from Itchy Boots has taken a totally refurbished vintage Tenere 600 to her new adventure. She shows the bike while being prepared on a few chapters. Such a bike is what i mean.
I know the answer to this :) Who needs a fidgety thumb wheel? But, the World Raid variant they released 2022 seems rather popular with the upgraded suspension and travel. Alright, now that i got that out of the way i will enjoy your new video.
@@motorcycleadventures Now that i watched it i stand corrected. Seems they fixed what needs to be fixed! Picked what people like from World Raid, fixed the thumb wheel. Too bad about the ride by wire. Would be nice if there was the option not to have it. Other than that i would like one. Thank you
Long Haul Paul had almost 320k kms on his Tenere 700 earlier this year, I bet even more by now. I am currently on 24k on mine, this bike will outlast me :D

But are they really important? No. I have the same big smile on my face just like on the day i bought it. Most important is what i do and not what i have :) . Have a nice ride in South America
Sounds like the new model will be just like the Aprilia Tuareg, in design and features. Tuareg is still hands down the better option if you’re more ‘street’ bias and not doing any crazy off-roading.
My brother brought one and regrets it, it's a good bike for the road, but firget serious adventure riding, you can't lift it off the ground if you drop it, and that's without all the usual baggage when adventyring..
Your brothers needs to work out more. And make his bike lighter. 10-15kg is doable and makes a huge difference even though it's only like 5-7% of the weight of the bike. People like to put a ton of stuff on their motorcycles, crash-bars alone can be 10kg or more.
Agreed; however, an analog speedo and tach were simple enough, but Yamaha needed to follow a "trend". Which is a step backwards. You can read a speedo with less than a second's glance on an old round instrument. Try it on a "display" with the sun glaring; an invitation to disaster.
Once again Pavlin makes complete sense. Some people need to have the latest and greatest and that is their choice but why go through all that expense of upgrading if the benefits to YOU are not worth it? Some people want to ride a smartphone, some people love their simple(r) motorcycles and just want to... ride.
So, for 2025 do I get the BMW F800 GS, the Honda Transalp, or the Yamaha Tenere 700, the new model. If it has cruise control and the other upgrades I am hearing about, that will be it. I love that bike for road and trail
Thank you for another honest comments. Just after i saw new model features i felt like “what they will change on my feeling when i am on it” i mean i haven’t imagined any of it before. So i think these changes seems a little tricky to sell more people but not suitable for T7 spirit
Simplicity of design and use was always the T7's greatest attribute for RTW travel. Commonality of design is what the factory installs on several different models with CP2 PowerPlant. Easy to build is it. All pretty much the same with some different add on. We didn't ask for it but got it anyway
Thank you for another great video Pavlin! Its wise from Yamaha to compete on the market, probably the market for ADV bikes is very desperate since we see this specific mods on a Tenere. I would be expecting this mods on the new TDM, including heated grips and atleast air suspension with on demand control like the new CRF from honda. It all boils down to Engineers that truly love bikes and strive to deliver the best possible Bike to consumers, and imbeciles that allocate funds -> "we can not use a carbon fiber frame on the production line, suspension deals are already done, make sure the bike fits, electronic displays and carplay integration will cost much money for programing ECT." The Tenere is a very simple bike, you get reliability with it, nothing more! Is this the beginning of the end for the Tenere?
Easy to understand. Pavlin logic is common sense. Factory and financial department have different plan. They did great job at first launching middleweight simple and reliable little Tenere. They did BOOM, got money. Now Tenere 700 is old model, they just added gadgets to create "NEW MODEL" so they can squize more money out of it. But since people accept is NEW and BETTER.. Well... Think with your head.
I surely won't upgrade. The main reason I bought the T700 was its reasonable simplicity. Since mid April 2022 I have done more than 40.000 kms with it and I can't say that I missed anything...
I thought about the T7 and Himalayan 450. The 450 absolutely destroys it as a cheap, simple, low use of gas, cheap to maintain, long range, not as top heavy bike that comes default with all extras like protection and stand you will need.
I agree that throttle by wire is undesirable; it has no real mechanical feel to it whatsoever. Even on cars such as Toyota Yaris it is garbage, with crappy throttle response right off of idle, and then a sudden surge of acceleration. Technology, in this case, is running backwards , all in the name of saving fifty cents per unit. Toyota and Yamaha, you can keep it. The computer gaming world doesn't help us on motor vehicles.
Really shocked they kept the exhaust bracket and location? I'm your age and we did not grow up with a quick shifter. Unless I'm going to be doing some kind of Moto GP racing I have absolutely no need for a quick shifter I don't understand the hype
I'll be interested to see if people stop buying them - I don't think people buy them because they're the best mid-weight ADVs, but because they're simple and trust the reliability of a low-tech machine.
Unfortunately the new T7s are a victim of the old one’s success. I luv the no nonsense t7. Not the I want the LOOK, but, I want the toys too bullshit, bcs I’m never goin off rd. the single cable which is attached to a potentiometer and analyzed by software? definitely not, and hand feedback is actually zero to ridebywire. Nothing is more simple than a cable opening a butterfly...
Yes. My €4 Tenere 2020 is the best also. Its sad but New Tenere is a sign od new era everywhere, and oldschool motorcycles like Tenere 2020 are gone forever. For me a great disapointment is weight - new Tenere is 4kg heavier and Rally is 6kg more. Look for the new Tuareg 660 Rally - they made 199kg wet!
thanks again Pavlin for the video !! the ride by wire system is no go for me ,the old one was super to ride exactly because they don't have it ,simple thing is always better!!!!

Your brothers needs to work out more. And make his bike lighter. 10-15kg is doable and makes a huge difference even though it's only like 5-7% of the weight of the bike. People like to put a ton of stuff on their motorcycles, crash-bars alone can be 10kg or more.
The idea of ideal motorcycle - make it simple not vice versa
Agree!
Agreed; however, an analog speedo and tach were simple enough, but Yamaha needed to follow a "trend". Which is a step backwards. You can read a speedo with less than a second's glance on an old round instrument. Try it on a "display" with the sun glaring; an invitation to disaster.
make sure you watch his travel videos , hope he makes good playlists from all of them esp Siberian
Thanks, man!
Once again Pavlin makes complete sense. Some people need to have the latest and greatest and that is their choice but why go through all that expense of upgrading if the benefits to YOU are not worth it? Some people want to ride a smartphone, some people love their simple(r) motorcycles and just want to... ride.
Exactly!
So, for 2025 do I get the BMW F800 GS, the Honda Transalp, or the Yamaha Tenere 700, the new model. If it has cruise control and the other upgrades I am hearing about, that will be it. I love that bike for road and trail
Whatever you like the most!
Thank you for another honest comments. Just after i saw new model features i felt like “what they will change on my feeling when i am on it” i mean i haven’t imagined any of it before. So i think these changes seems a little tricky to sell more people but not suitable for T7 spirit
I agree, but...
I'm in the market for a new T7, I've been waiting to see the 2025, think I'll be buying a 2024 world raid 👌🏼
Fair enough!
поздрав брате 👍
Simplicity of design and use was always the T7's greatest attribute for RTW travel. Commonality of design is what the factory installs on several different models with CP2 PowerPlant. Easy to build is it. All pretty much the same with some different add on. We didn't ask for it but got it anyway
Good report Pavlin
Well... marketing!
It all boils down to Engineers that truly love bikes and strive to deliver the best possible Bike to consumers, and imbeciles that allocate funds -> "we can not use a carbon fiber frame on the production line, suspension deals are already done, make sure the bike fits, electronic displays and carplay integration will cost much money for programing ECT."
The Tenere is a very simple bike, you get reliability with it, nothing more!
Is this the beginning of the end for the Tenere?
Could be! Only the future will show who was right!
I agree 100% with you.
Specially the "ride by wire" we don't need it in the middle of nowhere
Good!
True!
The 25 T7 I believe is also 3kg heavier
True! I forgot to say it in the video.
Why fix something that’s not broken? I never understand people who must have the latest thing, mobile, car, bike
Me either, but...
I surely won't upgrade. The main reason I bought the T700 was its reasonable simplicity. Since mid April 2022 I have done more than 40.000 kms with it and I can't say that I missed anything...
Good!
How many km you have on your bike?
80,000km
@@motorcycleadventures good!
I think you are right go with ten year plan.
Good!
I thought about the T7 and Himalayan 450.
The 450 absolutely destroys it as a cheap, simple, low use of gas, cheap to maintain, long range, not as top heavy bike that comes default with all extras like protection and stand you will need.
Only the future will show the reality and the success of any model. I won't bet on the Himalayan!
It is what it is!
Word, Pavel
Thanks for taking the time!
The simplicity of the first T7 is why we wanted it in the first place...now it's more complicated electronics that can be possible problems in future
True!
This year I bought new T7 and made only 1500kms with it. I thought I will regret it after the news came out for 2025 model.
I don't feel sorry. :)
Good!
Really shocked they kept the exhaust bracket and location? I'm your age and we did not grow up with a quick shifter. Unless I'm going to be doing some kind of Moto GP racing I have absolutely no need for a quick shifter I don't understand the hype
Yes, tell me about it!
Before watching, I’m going to guess he’ll say no to an upgrade. Simplicity is it virtue. 👍👍
Good!
Hi Pavlin. Have the same thoughts as yours. Ride by wire sucks..
Good!
QS would be nice but I think they even do not installed slipper clutch 😮
Not!
I won’t 😅 just got mine for 3 weeks and 1500km on the clock 😂
Good!
@ and now I am gonna watch the video thnx!!! For your work
Any time!
2024 model. Two weeks here and 1100km already 😊. Warm regards from Serbia!
@@QuinceMedia thank you, Serbia is on my todo list from the Netherlands to you 💪🤣💪
I'll be interested to see if people stop buying them - I don't think people buy them because they're the best mid-weight ADVs, but because they're simple and trust the reliability of a low-tech machine.
I think that they will buy them even more. Despite what I or you think!
World raid owner here, I see absolutely no reason to buy the new base model if I had the current base model
Good!
Unfortunately the new T7s are a victim of the old one’s success.
I luv the no nonsense t7.
Not the I want the LOOK, but, I want the toys too bullshit, bcs I’m never goin off rd.
An of course this all pushes up the prices!,
Ya gotta luv marketing!💩💩💩💩💩
Great vid as normal Pav, Stickin with the same wife in stead of playing the feild an getting a dose of the clap , so to speak.
🙏🙏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🏍️🏍️💎💎
Exactly!
i agree that young people want color displays and all kinds of bling blings but i doubt that they don't want reliability too. i predict yamaha's ''automatic'' transmission coming on tenere too
Yes, it is coming.
If i couldnt have my dr 650 the next step would be the 700 t .no offence to anyone but i have had 5 years watching european bikes have engine and electrical failure at very low klm .im hard on bikes and the only one that has never let me doown is my dr 650 .im like most riders i dont like to push my bike very far 😄.
Fair enough!
F800gs 08 for the win
Enjoy it!
@ oh I'm gonna break it hard
I am not sure I would want a ride by wire 😊
Good!
there is nothing reliable more than a single cable
Agree, but...
the single cable which is attached to a potentiometer and analyzed by software? definitely not, and hand feedback is actually zero to ridebywire. Nothing is more simple than a cable opening a butterfly...
Exactly!
Having ridden Tenere660 for 1 million km, I would be surprised if you would changed it...😊
Ok
Tuareg is not an option!
@motorcycleadventures 4 me 2, but 199kg is pretty good result. I was not expacting they made it.
if I go from 700 cc's to 600 cc's I can drop 200 lb that's a hell of a lot of weight my XT 600 is 305 lb
TOO MANY ELECTRONICS! Best model now 2024
It is what it is!
thanks again Pavlin for the video !! the ride by wire system is no go for me ,the old one was super to ride exactly because they don't have it ,simple thing is always better!!!!
I agree with you!
Apparently 2025 changes to the Honda Transalp are extremely minimal, maybe manufacturers decided to ignore consumers?
They have all of these with the first edition.
Where are you guys getting the info for the new T7? I can only find fake AI made videos. nothing on yamaha's site
Official Yamaha website.
@@motorcycleadventures thanks! Damn still no rally or "off-road version in the US. only base model. That's really a bummer.
It will come.
I hope they will come with a new tenere world raid in 2026 I will wait for that
They will probably!
I agree, I'm about to buy a 24 world raid, not tempted with the 2025 standard or Rally, I'll run a world raid and make a decision in a year or so 👍🏼
Yes! T9 y-amt and Cruise to compete with the big boys 😊
Why I have the feeling that people will want the 1sr generation of Tenere more?
You will be surprised! Yamaha marketing department know very well what clients wants! Not many people like me and you.
Your bike with the TFT dashboard is even more reliable than the 2023-2024 models.
Agree, but...
@@motorcycleadventures also, first generation of every new model comes with some flows. I bet there will be some things they need to fix.
fair is fair
Good!
big upgrade is slippery clutch system, the others facelifts...
Fair enough!
