    Yamaha Tenere 700:
    The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a midsize adventure/dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha since 2019. It features a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) parallel-twin engine which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and chain drive. Brakes are equipped with rider-switchable (on-off) ABS. The "baby Ténéré" is the latest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré desert stage of the Dakar Rally in the Sahara. The successor to Yamaha's XT660Z Ténéré was first announced as the T7 concept at the 2016 EICMA with an anticipated production launch in 2018. A refined concept was publicized a year later.
    Yamaha announced that delivery of bikes would begin in Europe in July 2019, and only the following year to the USA due to emissions and other regulatory delays. The liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC engine with crossplane crankshaft was already in use and well reviewed in Yamaha's MT-07 naked and Tracer 700 sport touring bikes.

    Great review! As a beginner with less than a year with mc-license, I can see your point about it might not be the best for me. Still, after I got my license, I had already zoned in on the T700. It's a bit high and heavy but I feel it's a pleasure to ride in normal conditions. A bit more challenging offroad but I look at it as a challenge learning to handle the bike. I like the fact that I don't get help from the bike, such as different rider modes, anti-this and that. On the other hand, seeing people going offroad with smaller DS-bikes looks very fun as well.
    Nah, I'll stick to my T7 for now. As long as I enjoy riding it... 😁

    I ride an old-school 660 Tenere which I hoped to use for distance with a bit of light off road - green lanes/fire trails etc. It's great fun, but massively top heavy, and the single motor has a fairly narrow band of useable grunt. I test rode the T7 and that engine is (relatively) silky smooth, and the whole thing holds its weight much lower down - making sketchy surfaces much less of a wrestling match. I didn't drop it, but it felt like it would be a bit easier to pick up - the old Ten is such a lardy beast, she has tested my back to the limit!

    What tire pressures do you run on your 300l? The stock IRC rear tire on my Rally seemed to me to be wearing a little bit prematurely... Just the knobby down the center is noticeably worn. Honda sold the bike to me with 29lbs in it and I lowered it to 26lb when I noticed it wearing. The tire is rated for 33lbs max. What pressures do you run on your 300l both on road and off?

      Off road I run 14 in the front and 10 psi in the back which did great at highway speeds/twistys and offroad.
      Dealership started them at 20 psi to start which did good in everything but was horrible in sand. I'll probably go with the NUETECH NITROMOUSSE PLATINUM in my Parker DT tires next to get around that 10 psi feel front and back.

    T7 launched for $15,500AUD in Australia, now it's $19,500AUD.. I was going to buy one but that's a pretty large price hike for the same bike.

      @burkaanc 2 роки тому

      interesting how markets differ - In EU 10 year old 800 tiger/gs is around 6~7k, new crf300l abs is 6k, new t700 is 10k EUR with 3 month wait, considering more work needed for older bikes choice was quite clear

    • @slakk5093
      @slakk5093 2 роки тому +2

      @@burkaanc yeah that makes it an easy choice for you. Here T7 is 19500. 300L is 8000. 2014 tiger is 10000. As long as you buy a clean well looked after bike then it's fine. I've bought a 2009 and a 2010 street triple R and both were in excellent condition and gave me no problems. I also bought a 94 rvf400 and again no major problems with that bike. But yeah second hand is a gamble sometimes, I bought a drz400 that gave me heaps of issues, had to rebuild the top end and replace a lot of parts (bearings/chain/countershaft seal/sprockets/petcock/sparkplugs/etc).

    It's not a parallell twin, it's a 270 degree inline twin!

      Smh... the yamaha CP2 is a cross plane 689cc 4 valve parallel twin with a 270-degree crankshaft.

      @@MotorcyclesOffroad it's not a parallell twin. In a parallell twin, both pistons move up and down simultaniously, like in a -60:s triumph or BSA. Look it up.

      @@MotorcyclesOffroad By the way, no manufacturers makes parallel twins anymore, all modern Inline twins have 270 degree cranks and Yamaha call their 270 inlaine engine Crossplane.

    Im 173cm, is it too tall for me?

    • @MotorcyclesOffroad
      @MotorcyclesOffroad  Рік тому

      It really all depends on riding experience. It is heavy and wide offroad. I'm 178cm and it feels a little tall for me sometimes offroad.

    • @MotorcyclesOffroad
      @MotorcyclesOffroad  Рік тому

      And by offroad I mean like climbs, deep sand, rocks, stuff like that. Gravel and farm field roads feel fine.
